We celebrated our son's 3rd birthday at Coffee & Kids and it was a wonderful experience. From the very first contact, communication was pleasant and clear, making the organization feel very relaxed. It was a real godsend for us that we were allowed to bring our own snacks and decorations. This allowed us to style the party entirely according to our own wishes. The atmosphere was incredibly nice and relaxed. The friendly staff ensured that we felt welcome immediately and could truly enjoy the afternoon. We had a fantastic birthday and received many nice comments about the location from our guests. We are incredibly happy that places like this exist. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cozy, child-friendly location for a birthday or other occasion. Thank you for the lovely afternoon!

We recently celebrated our son’s birthday at Coffee and Kids, and it was such a wonderful experience! The place was cozy, welcoming, and perfect for both kids and parents to enjoy together. I came for a workshop, but I was told that my child was too young to participate (13 months). There was no minimum age listed on the website. The coffee room was extremely crowded and became very stuffy. It is not a place to sit comfortably. The playroom is undoubtedly very nice, but something will also need to be done about the crowding during a workshop.

That was going to take about two to three hours ⏳, so we looked for a cozy spot for a cup of coffee and a tasty croissant ☕🥐. ​On the other corner of IJburglaan, we discovered this simple but incredibly nice café! 🏠💖 There was no one there yet, probably because it was still early in the morning 🌅. The employee, a very nice young woman, welcomed us with a radiant smile! 😁👋 ​We ordered a cappuccino for me and a coffee for my wife ☕️☕️. Instead of croissants, we eventually chose delicious empanadas... and wow, they were truly delectable! 😋🥟🔥 At one point, young mothers came in with their little ones 👩‍👧‍👦. At the back, there is a nice space where the children can play happily 🧸🎈. It was super cozy, sparkling clean, and incredibly friendly — truly a wonderful experience! ⭐f⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a very nice place to keep a young child occupied. The music activities are absolutely delightful — I highly recommend them to everyone. While the kids are busy, you can enjoy a good cup of coffee (which is hard to find on the island). Raquel, the owner, is a very kind, responsive, and pleasant woman. Thank you so much! We held my daughter’s birthday here-it was a disco party and all the kids had a great time! Raquel was very helpful and responsive during the planning process and during the party. Lots of activities and things to entertain the kids, and space for the parents to relax with a coffee and snacks while the kids were entertained. Overall it was a stress-free day and a great choice for a birthday party in IJburg!

What a fresh place to have in IJburg. Wonderful space to go to have a delicious cup of coffee while the children have fun. I love the interior design and the extremely friendly staff. The workshops are always creative and lead by expert and very friendly teachers. These spaces are very much needed as a parent in Amsterdam. Highly recommend it!

We just had a blast at our 5-year-old son’s birthday party! Not only us, but also all the kids we invited (and their parents) had a great time. Such a lovely experience for everyone: several fun workshops for the kids, a really nice ritual for opening presents… 2.5 hours that worked perfectly for the children while parents could just relax, chat, and enjoy a coffee :) The workshop leaders were simply amazing!

UPDATE FOLLOWING RESPONSE (original review is below): Thank you for your response. I hesitated for a long time about writing a review, but finally gathered the courage to do so. This happened at a previous time (and, to be clear, not during the Christmas holidays). I also understand the insinuation that the negative review was being removed for a fee – that's not the case here either. This is about a negative customer experience, which I felt was important to share. I also recently filed a complaint with the Municipality of Amsterdam (which is responsible for issuing permits). The owner, Raquel, really needs a course in customer service. She is, as several people here have also written, very nasty and incredibly rude. Not only to the parents but also to the children. She doesn't hesitate to speak to them (supposedly "nice," but clearly irritated and passive-aggressive) or to grab them roughly by the wrist. I wouldn't dare leave my child here alone - we won't be coming here again and are considering reporting it to the authorities.

Our (7 years old) son has been attending to the BSO for a while now, and we couldn't be happier. The staff are caring, friendly, and genuinely attentive to each child. They always take the time to communicate and share how the day went, which makes us feel very reassured as parents. Our child comes home very happy, relaxed, and excited to go back the next day. It's a place we trust completely. Highly recommended!

Beautiful cafe with kids play area- with CLEAN toys. They change the selection of the toys quite often too! We've been taking part of musical workshops as well, kids have enjoyed it a lot. Very good coffee

Amazing concept, so many different events and things to do here- music workshops, kinderkapper, toy store, workshops for parents etc. And most of all, very good coffee! (They sell coffee beans from LOT61) Beautiful decor, nice atmosphere and kids friendly staff!

Cute place, best suited for kids under 5, though I brought my under 10 year old and Margo was kind enough to have him play with magnetic tiles & Lego. Staff were very sweet &, chatty and helped with a lot of info.

We LOVE coffee and kids! Our son (6 years old) goes to the BSO and he loves it just as much as we do! The teachers are wonderful and so lovely. Oscar is always happy in the morning when he knows he’s going to Raquel’s BSO! It’s also such a cute place — colorful and very creative for kids. I would definitely recommend it!

We’re loving their offering of Nanny + Co-working. Our 22 month old needed an opportunity to socialize and I needed the opportunity to catch up on life admin (and have a sanity break). The first time she cried and couldn’t be left alone for more than ten min. But the second time onwards she was fine for more than two hours. She was at ease in the space, welcomed by Jed and looking forward to play with the toys. We are now there every Tuesday and Thursday mornings!

We had an amazing time at the Montessori-inspired playgroup. The teacher was wonderful--she's actually a trained preschool teacher, and you can tell--and made sure every child felt seen, welcomed and celebrated. Raquel is awesome. I can't wait to come back for their coworking session next week!

We go to C&K regularly as it is a fun place for the kids, where they can play with the toys and props, read books, and attend fun toddler workshops ; plus there is very nice coffee for the parents! The owner, Raquel is amazing, she's very warm and friendly and is super invested with the kids. We celebrated our 4 year old's bday at C&K and everything was lovely. Raquel hosted fun activities for them: making a candle holder, dancing and doing a small treasure hunt. Closing with eating cake. The kids loved it! Thank you Raquel!

The atmosphere was depressing and cold, not cheerful, warm, or happy. It didn't seem like a place you'd want to take your kid/s to again. The service was the slowest, and the personnel looked like they didn't know what they were doing. It wasn't cozy at all for us. To be honest, I feel it is pretty overrated.

Can’t recommend Coffee and Kids and wonderful Raquel enough. Our kids bday party at this location was a complete success: nice ambiance, plenty of space for free playtime, super accommodating service and a wonderful workshop for older kids while the parents enjoy their coffee. Not to mention the wonderful time the kids had!

My daughter’s 6th birthday party took place at Coffee and Kids last December and it was wonderful! Raquel really knew how to handle a big group of kids and entertain them. She planned a lot of nice activities for our arts & crafts workshop. 2 hours flew by super quickly and the kids loved it!

I absolutely love visiting Coffee & Kids! From the engaging workshops that my toddler adores to the cozy and inviting atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for both of us. That one hour feels like a gift—I get to focus on my work while enjoying a warm matcha and a delicious slice of carrot cake, all while my little one is happily playing. The staff and the owner are truly amazing—always so welcoming and kind. Highly recommend this wonderful place!

Nice concept for kids, but unfortunately a disappointing experience. The owner, Raquel, came across as rude and bossy, which really affected the atmosphere. As a parent, you feel more like a wallet than a valued guest. Such a shame, as the idea has potential, but the lack of hospitality is a big letdown.

Came in to grab a coffee and was met with such kind service from the owner. Very inviting, tool the time to explain to us how the business works with workshops etc, and we left really excited that one day when we bring kids with us, they have a really nice, cosy, community vibe place. Brilliant english and spanish! Coffee and hot chocolate were great, bonus that they also sell kids toys here!

One of the worst experiences I've ever had in a cafe with my children. The owner Raquel is, as a number of people have also written here, very nasty and incredibly rude. Not only to the parents but also to the children. She also does not hesitate to speak to them (supposedly 'nice' but clearly irritated and passive aggressive) or to roughly grab their wrist. It was a hit right away upon arrival. I wanted a cappuccino for myself, but apparently I also have to order drinks for my child. Fine, I ordered lemonade (which they never drink) to accommodate her. In the morning I called to ask if they were fully open. She indicated yes. But apparently we couldn't get into the play area. There are two areas, a cafe and a larger play area, but the latter had after-school care until 10.30 am and we had to wait another hour in the cafe. This one, on the other hand, was very small for a 5-year-old child who saw it quickly. He was very curious about the paid toys that you can buy there, in the wall. Which is of course very tempting. A little more for some children than others. She did not hesitate to constantly correct my child and tell me what was and was not allowed. Even though she saw that I also did this as a mother and was not able to sit quietly for a second because I already sensed that we were not welcome. But we came a long way and I wanted to give it a chance. Then finally she told me that this cafe is too small for my child and that he should go somewhere like Monkeytown. I said that I thought the back area was also open and that I had called in the morning and she had not informed me. Then she said, your child won't play with Lego. My child loves Lego and I thought it was bizarre that she could fill this in for him herself. After this she constantly looked irritated at my child behind the counter. After this, she pulled my child roughly by the wrist because he wanted to go into the other room (which opened in 5 minutes). This isn't possible!! In the other room my child actually touched the Halloween decorations for 1 second. Whereupon he was again sternly spoken to. While he really didn't do anything that wasn't possible. Then I couldn't take it anymore and told her that apparently only average children are welcome, but children who are slightly different are apparently NOT welcome in her cafe. Unfortunately I couldn't finish the conversation because my youngest went into the cafe and I had to follow him. She left angry at this. Let's first say that my child did NOT break ANYTHING, but he was slightly more active than other children. He just listened carefully, but he was curious. Apparently that is not allowed in this cafe. Because it is only intended for children who calmly color a coloring page. And not for curious children. This event really ruined my morning and made me feel very bad. I will NEVER come here again! And I would advise mothers who do not give their child nasty looks, or constantly want unsolicited corrections because your child touches something, or do not tolerate physical rough handling of your child's wrist, to avoid this place. There are plenty of places where ALL types of children are welcome! I really had to hold back my tears because it is so unfair to see this happen and I don't wish that day on any parent or child. I am surprised that owner Mrs. Raquel, who does not actually tolerate children, opens a children's cafe. Please do something else because you clearly don't have the patience for this. The girl behind the counter was sweet and nice.

Lovely, cosy place with a personal touch that makes you feel at home. Great, unique workshops/bso for kids and "gezellig" coffee area for parents too! The spanish owner is the soul of this very stylish, clean, international place. Highly recommend the bananacake and the "pastel" iberico: que pasión!

Great concept, did love the workshop for my kid. Unfortunately the owner and the people working in the cafe can be very rude. We came 2 times all the way from Hoofddorp and Utrecht with our kids, and both times we were send away after ordering food. They suddenly closed the store whenever they feel like it. 2 hours earlier than closing time, they wait until they have your money because you ordered and if you don’t rush to eat your food en go away they will get very rude.

This place is great. My child loves using the toys available and they have great coffee and baked goods as well. So it’s a great place for parents to have coffee while their kid plays around. Their toddler classes are wonderful.

We enjoyed this workshop sooo much! My daughter 18 months old had her first experience at this place and perhaps she was the youngest in a group 5-6 kids. The teacher has excellent skills and she fully interacted with each one of them.Fun and playful! Would love to join again 😁

As a parent, I can say with full confidence that Coffee and Kids is an absolute gem in the world of upcoming children's cafes in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. What really sets this café apart are the educational workshops, delicious hot coffee, the playroom with lots of open-ended toys and the relaxed atmosphere (regardless of the crowds). The coffee corner is small, but nice. This allows you to quickly come into contact with other parents and the children can play together. We are now very much at home and are very happy with such a nice place around the corner.

The owner is very impolite and rude. The food and coffee are expensive and not taste good. Cappuccino without foam and not warm? It is unacceptable. The only thing good is the customers. Customers are friendly. But I won't go again.

I count myself lucky that I’ve found this place. All the workshops and courses that my daughter was attended has top notch! It helped us to make a smooth transition on the way of peuterspeelzaal and language barrier. The owner of the place has great communication skills with the toddlers. Enjoying atmosphere. 10/10

We hebben een borrel georganiseerd bij Coffee & Kids voor onze vrienden en alle kinderen. Terwijl wij konden bijpraten werden voor de kinderen (0-6 jaar) allerlei leuke activiteiten geregeld, zoals schilderen, armbandjes maken en zelfs een disco. De ontvangst is zeer gastvrij, de koffie heerlijk en de ambiance perfect voor een gezellige middag.

We absolutely love Coffee and Kids! Not only is the coffee amazing and the activities fun and often times educational and always inspiring, the whole place has been such an amazing addition to our lives in the city. We love going there with our family and always are made to feel so welcome. It’s really made our neighbourhood feel like more of a community. It’s a place to relax, connect (with your kids or other parents) and enjoy family life! Also the iced coffees are INSANE.

We joined the Music & Dance group with our 1,5 y.o. and he loved it. Live music with a cello and lots of singing and moving. Great coffee as well!! Perfect way to spend part the morning.

Coffee & Kids is everything you want and more in a café and community hub. The coffee and treats are delicious, the staff is warm and friendly, and they offer such a wonderful variety of workshops. We regularly attend the excellent toddler music class, mama coffee chats, and the weekly toddler play groups have been game changing for child care and socialization. Jet has an incredible rapport with the kids and facilitates so many wonderful activities during each session. Can't say enough good things about this place! Definitely our favourite place in IJburg.

The great taste and good energy of the owners is reflected in everything: nicely designed coffee bar with fantastic coffee, great atmosphere and a small shop where you can buy really cool presents for kids. Apart from the café, kids in different age groups can follow a wide range of professional and creative workshops per hour. Kids happy, parents happy. Highly recommended!
