Cupp in Wijk 08 Zuidwest

I ordered the pulled chicken with a beer, but a couple of minutes later, they told me it was no longer available. I then ordered the baked brie, and about five minutes later, another staff member came to say they couldn’t make that either — apparently, almost everything on the menu was unavailable. The only options left were the hummus bowl and the loaded hummus. A bit later, another employee unexpectedly brought me the baked brie along with an espresso I never ordered. I mentioned that I had ordered a beer instead. After a few minutes, I asked again about the beer, and they explained they were too busy with drinks, so I would have to wait. Around ten minutes later — when I had nearly finished eating — someone finally came back to tell me they didn’t have that beer either. Overall, the experience was confusing and disappointing. The food was just ok. I had to eat without a drink and when I mentioned I didn’t receive the best answer either.

The breakfast deal was worth it! 👍🏻

It's a really nice place, beautifully decorated and quite spacious. I had a hoijcha latte and an acai bowl, both of which were delicious. The acai bowl was a bit runnier than I'm used to, but the toppings were delicious! The menu is extensive and has all sorts of delicious things, so I'll definitely be back a few more times to try the other items! Be aware that parking is very limited and expensive in this area. The only downside was that the table was very sticky, so if you can keep that in mind, it's otherwise fantastic!

Very cosy café, but one of the waiters was a bit rude with me, and she tried to force us to sit in the corner. The coffee ☕️ and the 🍪 Croissant are very delicious 😋

Great atmosphere both inside and outside on the terrace. The service was quick, despite the place being full on a Sunday at lunch time. I would go back to grab a coffee but not for lunch. The food was basic. I took the falafel bowl, it looked like they took an entire bag of rucola from jumbo and tossed it onto the plate, combined with 5 micro falafels, 1 strawberry and half pickle. The hummus was very peppery and really good.

Definitely not worth the wait nor the price. Food was barely okay, service was super slow. We had the full breakfast for 2, coffee came 30 minutes before the food so it was cold when the food got to the table.

The food was good; it took a little while to be served, but the service&staff were nice and friendly. I’ll probably come back more often since I’d like to try other things on the menu — hopefully next time the experience will be even better. 😌

The service staff seems untrained, unorganized and uninterested in customers. Coffees and cakes should never take as long as it did. The kitchen area looked like no one really knew what should be done. Someone please do some efficiency training with the staff!

Service level varies, sometimes smooth service, other times you are simply ignored.

Took a filter coffee and a nice citrusy cake (got the bigger piece as it was the last one 😋) Coffee was pretty good, so was the cake. I liked that they source some of their coffee from Blommers, which is one of my absolute favorite roaster in the Netherlands.. well done! Another nice unique touch, which I didn't see anywhere but here yet, they give you two cups for the coffee, a wide one and a narrow one so you can have different taste profiles when you drink your coffee, nice! 😎 Not to mention the friendly service and the nice coffee chat I had with the barista there.

I always come here to get a coffee to go when I work from home. The baristas are always friendly, and on weekends I love to hang out with friends. It's a great place, and very close to home for me!

Cute little place, nice place to sit, both inside and outside. The food is excellent, but the coffee is a bit of a letdown. If you order (regular) coffee, you can choose between an Americano (which is apparently an espresso diluted with water 😖) or a filter coffee 😬. I find that really outdated and a bit sad. They also serve a lot of so-called "white coffee," but that's not really my thing. I just ordered a (very tasty) herbal tea and had coffee at home. It's a shame for a coffee bar.

We found Cupp via Google because they offer gluten-free options (great!). We sat down on the terrace and were able to order fairly quickly. We ordered a cappuccino, a chai latte, and two dishes (brunch, simple). Then the long wait began... we waited at least an hour for our drinks and food. Then I grabbed the knife from the container on the table to eat, but it was still very dirty. I politely asked the waitress for a new one because it was dirty, and it was brought (without an apology, or even a thank you). The staff made me feel like a difficult customer for pointing it out. Anyway, I started my meal only to discover I had a hair in my food. No solution was offered, just a pathetic "we'll pass it on." Unfortunately, not the experience we were hoping for. They could do better in many ways for their customers. Hygiene is everything, and we don't find this kind of thing acceptable.

A really cozy place for breakfast or lunch, but they also offer fantastic barista workshops. I've already done the barista workshop and the latte art workshop. I learned a lot from both, and my coffee at home tastes so much better!

Nice, if a bit too trendy, place. And I'm referring specifically to the beer selection. All sorts of strange names, and none of them are particularly good. A shame. The staff is very friendly, and they also have a large terrace.

In my opinion a top location to sit with a larger group. We held our family reunion on the terrace and were well taken care of by the friendly staff. Everything was tasty and well taken care of. Will definitely come back here for lunch.

Nice modern place along the merwede canal and at the new harbor at the oranje vrijbuiters quay. Delicious coffee ☕️ and tea 🫖 in different flavors, so something for everyone 👌. The brie pear sandwich with serrano ham (costs a little extra) was delicious also the fried eggs with extra bacon and cheese (also costs a little extra) were excellent 👍. The snack platter (€21) was worth its money, really recommended 👌😋👌together with the martini 🍸 cocktail it was enjoyable.

We had lunch here with a group of 4 and then followed the Sage Barista workshop. Busy place, so the service sometimes took a while. Very nice people though! Food was great. The barista workshop was fantastic! We got it from Loïs, who explained everything in a very nice and calm way. Learned a lot, the time flew by. Really highly recommended!

Nice location, but otherwise the price-quality was not good. The wait for the coffee took at least 20 minutes and not because it was very busy. So the management is inexperienced. Tables inside are very narrow. And the food is tasty, but it gave me an unhealthy feeling because of the amount of cream / sauce that runs off your sandwich. This can be better.

Cozy tent, nice location, nicely decorated and friendly staff. The lemon poppy cake was disappointing (tasted like.. dough?), and the chai latte tasted like water.

Cupp offers Barista workshops, these are great! Lunch afterward was also awesome, really fresh and good food! They also offer fresh roasted coffee and additional things for your own machine

We live around the corner and are regular customers at Cupp. With a whole bunch of stamp cards to prove it. Is everything delicious and wonderful? Almost! We have now experienced 3 times that the cutlery in the cups has not been washed properly. And when I walk forward to ask for new ones, I get a bit of a strange look. Like: "What do you mean, do you want clean, washed cutlery?" In short, almost 5 stars!

Nice place for lunch, breakfast and coffee. Also a nice place to work. It is not surprising that extra money is charged for a laptop on the table during lunch. But I have once been almost alone in Cupp for 2 hours, so it feels strange to pay for the laptop

Entered without being greeted, then waited for 20 minutes, but no one came to take my order. Not surprising, I think there was only 1 person for those orders, who also had to make the coffees. I cycled on to another business, too bad.

We had a coffee there and then joined the barista class. The class was great the barista was explaining all detail very patiently and he had so much knowledge about the coffee. It was such a nice class that I would like to book for more courses with them. The coffee they serve is very tasty.

We come here very regularly. In the summer (but actually also in the winter) the iced oat milk cappuccino is our favorite. Today we also had green juice and ginger tea for the first time. Recommended. The juice is not bitter, despite all the vegetables. The banana bread is tasty. Maybe even better to get it warm, but it's personal. The toasties are made of thick bread and are served with chips. The other dishes are also delicious. It's not too much, just good. Our experience is that it is always pleasant/busy. In the summer you can sit outside by the water. Just do it!

Nice place to sit and eat something. The breakfast board is tasty and well stocked for 2 people. The staff is friendly and there are beautiful plants everywhere. The only downside was that it didn't smell very fresh when we were there.

Very chaotic and loud inside. It took very long before we got our cake and tea, even though there were at least 5 people working at that time, and the place is not that big. Not sure if I'll come back here another time. Shame cause the place is nicely designed.

We took eggy breakfast (bread+cheddar+egg, croissant+pouched egg+avocado, fresh orange juice) and two cappuccino which were delicious and filling. Our orders arrived on time. Only downside was that when we arrived, we saw that the cake display next to cashier was filled with tiny flies and insects. So we made sure not to try their cakes and we were a bit at unease whether the croissants we ordered were kept in the same display or not. However, service was nice and the ladies were very attentive

In my opinion, the hype surrounding this “place to be” is completely overrated. Admittedly, it was quite busy on the day of our visit, but we were completely ignored for the first 20 minutes and left alone with our dirty table, even though the waitress had several opportunities to put us off, at least for the moment. Once we ordered, we waited another 20 minutes for our order. The drinks arrived a little early and my girlfriend had tea spilled down her pants, which should have been forgotten with a simple “Sorry” as she walked away. Dirty cutlery, a portion that was far too small in my opinion and a price that was far too high rounded off our visit. The taste of the hangover breakfast was okay, but the chai latte tasted like water. Not worth another visit for me.

Food is extremely overpriced for what you get. I had the eggy breakfast on bread, and the portion size was so small. 10.5 for a single small slice of bread (you do get a small orange juice, but I rather have a larger portion instead). The avocado spread did not taste fresh. My friend ordered a yoghurt bowl, however the mango they used was rotten. I don’t recommend.

Cozy atmosphere and great location! Critical note as a coffee snob: the coffee beans are great, but the milk could really be improved. No microfoam, very lumpy - not what you expect from a specialty coffee shop. Just practice on that and I'll give it 5 stars :)

Really nice cafe with a cozy atmosphere. The coffee is pretty good, while the food quality differs widely in my opinion. We got the goat cheese sandwich which was really tasty, but the banana bread and the overnight oats were disappointing. The prices are high, but overall we had a good experience.

Two weeks ago we took a barista course at Cupp Utrecgt Kanaalweg. Fleur was really great! She knew a lot about the subject and presented very nicely! What we found very disappointing is that the workshop lasts almost 3 hours and you don't get anything to eat during those 3 hours.... It started at 10:00, and since it is a coffee course, no cup of coffee in the morning. This cup had to wait until our self-made bowl, which we could drink around 1:00 PM. Really strange, lunch is skipped and for the price of such a workshop per person, a lot more time can be spent on practice and practice, it is best to serve snacks or sandwiches and just putting out jugs of water is not enough. Not OK! It was 2.5 hours of theory and half an hour of practice. I would have liked to DO a lot more. Parking next to the door, so close. €6.5 per hour, but that's Utrecht... I don't recommend the coffee course here, especially for this money...

Nice place, coffee is good. Prices are very high. Please note: if you agree to a business meeting with a colleague for an hour and you use your laptop, you pay €2.50 extra per person. I understand if you are going to work there all day, but for an hour's conversation with 2 people and 1 laptop on the table we paid €5 extra. And then it is also determined for you where you can sit. It's that we didn't have time to go anywhere else, otherwise we would definitely have done so. Doesn't feel good.

The Cupp is really a little gem. The location by the water is unbeatable – just perfect for relaxing with a cup of coffee and enjoying the view. The café was very clean and well-kept, which is always particularly important to me. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, you immediately feel welcome. The food was fresh and super tasty, you can tell that quality is important here. I'll definitely be back and can highly recommend Cupp!

Service is extremely slow. This may result in lukewarm cappuccino. There was no blueberry to be found in cake with blueberries and yogurt (?). Just a spot where one probably used to be. The cake fell apart into many pieces and could therefore not be eaten with the fork provided. The water for the dog (after a long walk in hot weather) took more than 10 minutes. Then a noisy (delivery) truck parked right in front of the terrace. Had to pay the full 8.50 after a belated apology...! Definitely not recommended, no cup to go...

Coffee and tea are served without 'cookies or snacks'. That's probably their right, but it doesn't feel nice!! 😟 And the prices are really crazy high. Two drinks almost 8 euros.

Best cafe in Utrecht. I am a regular of their other location in the city center and, although further from the heart of the city, this location is bigger and offers has many outdoor sittings

Simple, wide healthy choice and very tasty! The allergy map is somewhat unclear and incomplete, but more is possible after consultation with the kitchen. Super fun workshops so we will definitely come back

Friendly staff and good coffee and products. The prices are really exorbitantly high. We were very curious about the pistachio croissant. We thought, given the price (10€), that it would be a croissant loaded with pistachio. However, it was only a bit of pistachio crumbs. Shame .

For a company that also provides barista courses, the coffee was unfortunately poor. The service and location were excellent. The croissant with cheese was bare.

The employees are friendly and nice, the food is tasty, have you ever had white chocolate milk? What could be better is that the food could be a little faster, but there were also quite a few customers so I'm not going to complain too much.

I was there twice, the first time was on a Sunday. It was kind of busy but there was still places available to sit. I sat and waited, then I decided to go and ask, I was told by a waitress to come another time. Then I saw another waitress ahead of me took my coffee order and it took 40 minutes. Then I thought that I might try this place on a less busy day. I did, everything was better, nice terrace, plenty of space for bikes.

I thought I had found a great spot to study and have a few coffees. Unfortunately they make you pay an hourly fee to use a laptop here... I get that they don't want someone to buy one coffee and then hog a table all day, but this is just a dumb solution... Cause now I'd either have to spend more money, or buy less coffee to work within my budget. Kind of defeating the point of a cozy local cafe....

After waiting a very long time for our lukewarm latte macchiatos, I didn't feel like it anymore. In my opinion, it is an unwise idea to guarantee both a takeaway and a sit down restaurant concept if the staff cannot keep up on a busy Sunday afternoon. This is a shame. And this causes rushed service and lack of quality. As a result, I got a hard-boiled egg that passed for poached and I paid 2.50 for a strip of salmon that fit around my finger once. However, after reporting the feedback to the staff, they were told that it would be taken into account. It's nice that it is being heard, now we just have to do something with it. The acai smoothie bowl was tasty and satisfying.

One hour to wait espresso tonic and hand brewing coffee is disrespect to clients. The same disrespect goes to the owner, who is responsible for stuff hiring, and to stuff. Shame.

Lovely cafe to relax for a while! Lots of windows surrounded by a small harbor which gives a very relaxing feeling, especially on a sunny day! The hot chocolate is also really delicious!

It took an hour before we got the drinks, spa red and beer. A little later we finally saw the sandwiches arrive, but unfortunately one fell flat against the stomach of the lady who was eating herself while preparing and wiping her mouth after each bite with her thumb, which was then rubbed clean between her other fingers. and then continue preparing with bare hands immediately approaching the food. Lots of movement but little production. Great chaos in work areas, tables sticking, cutlery sticking. Sorry, but I don't think this is the right place for workshops if this is the example

Nice place where you can retreat from all the hustle and bustle of the city. The building looks beautiful from the outside and is stylishly decorated on the inside. The employees are all nice and happy to help you. In short, a nice place to have a cup of coffee!

Cupp is a wonderfully bright place on the water, just outside the city center. The coffee is made with great attention. The breakfast platter for 2 (16.50pp) is especially delicious! Croissants, yoghurt with fresh fruit, sourdough bread with cheese, butter, jam, an egg muffin and fresh gravy!

A nice cafe for breakfast, lunch or brunch. I imagine it to be even nicer in summer when it’s possible to sit outside. Food was good and coffee as well! Quite busy around lunchtime in the weekend, might recommend a reservation.
