I had expected better food. It was not possible to sit in the children's corner. That is not recommended if you are visiting with a child. It is a bit annoying when different waiters come to take your order. Colleagues should coordinate among themselves who serves which table.

The food itself was fine. A few minor points for improvement: - The drinks menu stated that we had to ask for the rotating tap. When I asked about this, the bartender said there was no rotating tap. - The menu listed Dame Blanche with warm chocolate sauce as dessert. When I asked if the sauce was actually hot, the waiter told me it was just cold chocolate sauce. - It took quite a long time for the plates to be cleared, even though it wasn't busy. Eventually, they left half-empty mayonnaise containers, which we had to look at while eating dessert. Otherwise, the meal was fine.

This afternoon, I went to De Beren Almere with my mother and a Kruidvat high tea voucher. At 30+ degrees, you expect the terrace to be open, but no, that was not the case. Sitting inside in stifling heat, with no air conditioning or cooling to be found. According to the employee, the terrace wasn't allowed to open due to the changeable weather… yeah right. The high tea was just bad; we didn't get any!!! tea (so you have to ask for it separately…. Ahem high TEA!), apple crumble with a raw base, a full bowl of crème brûlée, a cup of Unox tomato soup with 2 meatballs (and that is an insult to Unox), pieces of dry focaccia bread (or something that passes for it) with a slice of salmon and carpaccio on top, and a platter of frozen food, packets of macarons, and profiteroles. Truly something to be ashamed of as a restaurant! And with only 3 staff members serving, this ordeal lasted far too long. This expected nice afternoon was just awful!! Never going to this place again! @the owner of De Beren Almere, you should be ashamed!

Reserved and confirmed a high tea for 2 people well in advance, on June 3rd at 1:00 PM, and also paid in advance. Upon arrival, restaurant De Beeren in Almere was completely closed. Waited for an hour and it was shut. Sent a message by email but received no response whatsoever. Also called; waited on hold for 55 minutes but couldn't get through to them at all. Well, wasted money. What terrible service. I won't be eating there again; it is scandalous beyond words.

Two years ago, I received a high tea as a birthday gift (for 2 people) in Almere City. First of all, we had to wait an hour before we received any snacks. The other tables around us that arrived later had already received their food. After an hour, half of the high tea arrived. This was a huge disappointment. The pancakes and scones were rock hard. You could break your teeth on them. Next, we had to wait a long time before we received more. After 20 minutes, the other half of the high tea also arrived. The sausage rolls were also rock hard and inedible. I reported all of this to the staff. We received no apologies, only being told that there were sick staff members today and that a member of the wait staff was in the kitchen, but apparently they couldn't heat up a pancake in the microwave. Then a member of the wait staff came over very happily to say that at least the tea was good… Not much can go wrong with that. We received no compensation or an extra drink… When settling the bill, no apology was forthcoming, so it was most certainly not worth the €50 price tag. Do not go here for a high tea.

I've been to De Beren in Almere a few times for lunch; the food is fine, but quite expensive for what you get. The lunch salad doesn't come with a slice of bread or baguette, and there are no salt and pepper on the tables—very basic. The service was okay. But what I find bizarre is that when you have the most beautiful and spacious terrace spot by the water in Almere city center during these lovely summer weekends, you don't dress up the terrace a bit more attractively and spaciously. Currently, many tables are still chained up, and there are dirty cushions on the chairs of the tables that were available. I understand that the entire terrace might not be open due to a staff shortage, but I think that precisely on those beautiful summer weekends, you should be fully committed to the terrace. Consequently, many people left again. Make the tables inviting, open a few more parasols, and the people (and staff) who were all inside could have gone outside. What a nice, lively atmosphere you could create there with a view of the water by making a few adjustments and being a bit more hospitable. Now it's a somewhat soulless half-terrace, as if they don't want to get more out of it. Shame!

Poor service and incomplete food – Not recommended. I really hope the owner does something about this, because I will never go here again. My experience was a huge disappointment. I ordered a salmon sandwich, but received a roll in a plastic bag. It turned out this roll was for someone with an allergy. Furthermore, the food had to be sent back to the kitchen twice. According to the menu, it was supposed to have egg and onion on it, but these were completely missing. After the first return, the egg had been added, but the onion was still nowhere to be found. Additionally, we had to wait 30 minutes for the food. My daughter had already finished her meal by the time I could finally start. A pleasant lunch shouldn't go like this.

We ate at De Beren on May 23rd around 3:00 PM, and it was a really bad experience. Everything took an extremely long time: ordering, getting drinks, and even the food didn't arrive at the same time. First, 2 out of 4 people received their food, without cutlery. When we asked for cutlery, that took way too long as well. Only then did the spareribs arrive, and they weren't tasty to boot. The Caesar salad was very meager for what you pay. The ladies' restrooms were also dirty, and there wasn't even hand soap available. What also struck me was that we heard several tables around us complaining about the service and waiting times. In hindsight, I should have read the reviews first; then I would never have gone to eat here. Unfortunately, absolutely not recommended.

We came for a high tea. Nice location! Our table by the window by the water was also lovely! The service was a bit lacking; it took a very long time before we could order our tea. They should have put a jug of hot water on the table or something similar. Two cups of tea in 2.5 hours at a high tea with unlimited tea, I thought that was poor. My little daughter also wanted something to drink and went to get them at some point. And I didn't get the impression that it was very busy or that there was a shortage of staff. Otherwise, it was fine.

Absolutely awful! I ordered the large berry breakfast. What I received was a stale, dry slice of bread without butter, topped with a slice of dry cheese. There was also a handful of scrambled eggs—about the size of an egg cup—cold and just crumbs. A mini croissant lay on the plate, looking as if it had been thawed in a toaster (grill marks). Breakfast was supposed to include a glass of orange juice, but I only received it long after I had finished eating and had to ask for it. Never again!

The restaurant was supposed to open at 11:00. Punctuality isn't exactly their strong suit. It finally opened at 11:10. The Beren Breakfast for €12.50 was a joke. The cheese was already dried out, there was no butter with the bread and croissant, the scrambled eggs looked like leftovers, and the freshly squeezed orange juice only arrived after we asked for it, after we'd already finished eating.

How to ruin my day We arrived on a day of 23 degrees and, to our surprise, the terrace was closed. Inside, it wasn't busy at all—there were literally four people sitting there—but sitting outside wasn't allowed. The reason: no one wanted to sit outside because of the wind, and apparently, there wasn't enough staff. While there wasn't much else to do either. We asked if we could sit outside with our food, but that wasn't possible because the terrace was already "locked." Even the question of whether perhaps one table could be opened was rejected after consulting with the supervisor. Meanwhile, it was nearly 40 degrees inside, which made it anything but comfortable. After our meal, we went outside briefly for a smoke break. When we returned, our table was still full of dirty plates, even though it was clearly already finished. We had to wait a long time before anyone came at all. When we mentioned it, the response we received was that he was waiting for us because of our smoke break—something that had not been communicated to us at all. This came across as very unprofessional. The starter, tomato soup with “meatballs,” was also a huge disappointment. The meatballs looked and tasted more like pieces of frikandel (a type of Dutch sausage) than minced meat. Really not tasty. When a friend joined us later, no one came over to us on their own initiative to ask if she wanted something to drink or eat, or to offer us a menu. We had to ask for this ourselves, which is not what you expect from good service. As the icing on the cake, I ordered a strawberry mojito—something that is supposed to be quite simple—but it was served without lime and without mint. When I mentioned this, I was told that apparently that wasn't in their recipe. Then I seriously wonder what kind of mojito they are making. All in all, a very disappointing experience. To be honest, it ruined my day for a while. Fortunately, we eventually made up for it at another restaurant. In any case, I won't be coming back here.

I had lunch at De Beren. We wanted to sit outside, but this was not possible due to wind and staff shortages, while it later turned out that other guests were being served outside. I have written a review for this restaurant before (see the bottom paragraph). Now I have returned here to make adjustments. The quality has gone DECLINE ENORMOUSLY. The food was cold, the chicken was tough, the service was very limited (0% knowledge of the dishes), the table was sticky, all the doors were open (so there was a draft), and the atmosphere was mediocre. They brought the main course as soon as the starter was on the table. Things were dropped all over the place. Not once was anyone asked if we wanted another drink. I find this really disappointing, because De Beren was always an accessible restaurant. I think this was the last time for me and for the rest of the group I was with. The text below was a review from a few years ago: The food was good. The decor was very standard, but that goes with it. The staff were very nice. We did have to wait a very long time for all the food, though we did get a free drink as compensation. All in all, they do their best and the price-quality ratio is fine!

I don't often write reviews, but I just had to get this off my chest. I always enjoyed going to De Beren, but what we experienced today was severely disappointing. The staff was not customer-oriented. I ordered a bread basket, but it arrived at the same time as one plate of spareribs that looked like it had just been thrown on a plate. There was no cutlery; I ended up asking for it. We had to wait quite a long time for the rest of our food. The fries were thrown into a tiny container and were cold. So no mayo with them, so I just dipped the fries in the herb butter. The bread was tough and stale, by the way. The two burgers were okay, although the meat was dry. The ribs were okay, but clearly pre-cooked and reheated. Not once did staff come by to ask if everything was to our liking or if we needed anything else. I even saw people walk away because they weren't being served. Was it busy? No! I understand why in hindsight, and I read now that this hasn't been the De Beren it once was for quite some time. A lady sitting next to us was also extremely disappointed with the experience. My son had to shell out 95 euros because he wanted to take us out for dinner for his birthday, and that for an experience that was extremely disappointing in terms of quality. No tip was given.

Yesterday, we ate at De Beren in Almere for the second time. When making the reservation, we had already asked and indicated that we needed to go to the theater and whether 2 hours would be sufficient. This was not a problem and was fine. We arrived 10 minutes before our reserved time, had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks, and had to ask several times if we could order due to the time. In the end, after 1.5 hours, we had only received a starter, begged for the main course, and decided to skip dessert. The staff consists of young people without experience who do not know how to handle this; they respond poorly to requests and questions. In short, an unpleasant experience! Ultimately, our desserts (which we didn't receive either) and the drinks were not charged as compensation, but come on... surely you should be able to get served your main course within a time of over 2 hours.

My mother and I contracted food poisoning. We were both deathly ill after eating the spareribs. It is terrible that they apparently serve food that does not meet hygiene standards. I also specifically inquired about the contents of my chosen dessert, including whether it contained nuts or peanuts. Both times, they said no, but I was still given a peanut cookie. The food was fine. The toasted sandwich could use some dressing. Service: the managers could offer training to younger staff members. Either there are five of them at the cash register, or no one at all. No regular table rotation. Asking if everything is to your liking, and being proactive instead of reactive when ordering a second round of drinks. If you do order drinks, asking to take the empty plates. People are walking from table to table, checking sausages, and the plates have been sitting there for ages. Long waits for sandwiches and drinks. Having to go after them yourself. Such a waste.

Horrible experience. The service was truly subpar. During our main course, our welcome drinks were still empty, and no one even came to our table. The employee who brought the main course (our third course) claimed she wasn't authorized to take drink orders, but also made no effort to send someone else. Then, at checkout, things went wrong again... The Social Deal calculation was incorrect, resulting in me being overcharged. I did get a cash refund, but due to the poor service and mediocre quality, I still found it far too expensive. I would definitely not go there again. And if this is representative of the quality of food in Almere, I won't be returning.

Almost no one checked in at the table, and empty plates and glasses were rarely collected. The food arrived cold several times. Someone at the table had unlimited spareribs. The first portion was cold, and the second one had been ordered, but we had to ask for it ourselves because it was taking so long. The desserts also took ages and didn't arrive at the same time. The fried eggs we ordered weren't cooked properly; the egg white was still raw. I complained about it, and twice, they returned them with runny egg whites, so never mind. The spicy chicken was from yesterday, and the Heineken I ordered turned out to be Grolsch. The music was so loud you couldn't even hear each other. In short, the chef doesn't know how to bake your own, and the staff can't read signs. The coffee was good, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. We were the only ones there, and the food just needed to be heated up or briefly cooked on the stovetop.

We went to lunch with the family. This was the third time, and also the last. We wanted to give it another chance by having lunch here. But just like the first two times, and now the third time, everything was wrong again. We received our starter, and we had asked if my daughter could also have her grilled cheese. Once we had finished the starter and asked about the grilled cheese, we were told that the kitchen had forgotten it. Forty-five minutes later, we received our "uitsmijter" (fried eggs) and the grilled cheese. It was delivered cold, so we immediately sent it back to the kitchen. Ten minutes later, we received the same "uitsmijter" (fried eggs), but reheated. Not what you expect from a restaurant. In the more than two hours we were there, we weren't asked if we wanted any more drinks. After more than two hours, all the empty glasses were still on the table. We put them on the windowsill so we could eat normally. Again, this was the third time, and also the last. Everyone is advised to always read the reviews first. We should have done this too. It would have saved a lot of money and frustration.

We had lunch via Social Deal. After being received, we had to wait a long time before someone came to our table, even though it wasn't busy. Then, it took a very long time for drinks and for our food order to be taken. The starter arrived reasonably quickly, but we had to wait quite a while for our main course. When that was served, we were immediately asked for a second round of drinks, but I asked twice where our drinks were, and we didn't receive them until we had already finished eating. I did mention that I didn't think the service was very good and that everything was taking so long; the girl was often sitting behind the cash register looking around while saying, in response to my comment, that there were only two of them working. They could have been a bit faster. When it is holiday season with such a large building, you make sure there are multiple staff members working and that you can serve your guests properly.

We thought we'd have a nice lunch this afternoon. We still had a lunch deal voucher from Albert Heijn, so we duly made a reservation for 3:00 PM. The staff clearly didn't want any customers. They were busy clearing away and couldn't even manage a faint smile. The drinks were delivered quickly, but after a long wait, I asked if we could order. The bread with steak cubes and the loaded fries were served fairly quickly. Unfortunately, there was no cutlery, so I had to wait a bit for the still-grumpy waitress to fetch some from afar. Meanwhile, I discovered I'd received the wrong version of loaded fries. I snatched the plate, and 10 minutes later, the correct one arrived. No apology, and no one asked if everything was to my liking. I can say that a generous amount of satay sauce had been poured over the fries, but the chicken had only landed briefly and flown straight through. In short, one big disappointment. This was really the fault of the restaurant, as I've regularly eaten delicious food at other locations.

This place is just laughably bad. I wanted to order a cappuccino while waiting for someone. They probably couldn't mess that up, but yes, even that... 30 minutes after ordering... absolutely nothing. The place is 90% empty. It's a miracle they've been here this long. Well, at least I was dry and warm. 😂 If you order loaded nachos for 9 euros and you get a bowl of chips with dip... 😵‍💫 Even if there's a big event in town and you think you're ordering a snack, you're out of luck. The "kitchen" closes at 9 PM. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It's a shame, this place had potential from the start. But somehow they haven't really managed to make this a good place (long wait for your food, quality of the meat) and you can see that in the reviews, especially from people who compare it to a few years ago.

The restaurant was completely empty except for one couple when we arrived, and yet everything still took an incredibly long time. The children also asked several times for crayons and a piece of paper. We also didn't get our food at the same time; my husband was almost finished by the time mine arrived, and we had to ask three times for our fries, which were served at the end of the meal. The soup was cold, and then we received warm, but not hot, soup. We finally went to the counter ourselves to pay, leaving the full table with empty plates. We did receive compensation, which is nice, and thanks for that. But things aren't quite as they should be there.

Bad experience! They had a glitch with the system. That happens! But then everything went wrong. A long wait. Instead of an appetizer, we got a main course. We indicated, then we got our appetizer. But then no one came to take it. No employee in sight. Finally, my husband got up to indicate. After a long wait, we got our main course. Even then, we had to indicate that we were finished. Then again, no employee. You have to ask for a dessert menu yourself!! We were really bummed. We thought we'd have a nice dinner together. I have a child who's hungry and needs to be entertained by all the waiting. I've been here for almost 2.5 hours now and am still waiting for our dessert. Luckily, it's Friday today. I haven't been here in a while because things don't always run smoothly. So, let's just go with that Kruidvat offer. Well... not worth repeating. The employees really need to be more attentive!!! Even worse, we're now more than 10 minutes later. My husband's ice cream has already been eaten. But the cappuccino... is still to come.

We went here as a team outing. It's impossible to announce bingo until noon. You can't book a table for 11 people on the same day. You have to wait an average of an hour between courses. Half have already finished their food, and then the other half gets something to eat. When you raise the issue, they don't really listen, and the excuse is bingo. We've already finished our desserts; the coffee and tea still had to arrive. Then we left, and they made a fuss because the coffee and tea couldn't be deducted from the bill. I wonder if anyone actually listens to the poor service when I mention it. Extremely poor service.

I ordered windmill bread with spicy chicken. I received the wrong chicken sandwich, which was politely exchanged. But the spicy chicken wasn't what I expected. The bread was toasted so hard (which, incidentally, wasn't stated on the menu as toasted) that I couldn't cut it or bite into it. So I only ate the chicken/sauce/pepper/onion/mushrooms, which were quite tasty. Perhaps I should have said something about it on the spot. But since I had already said something, I didn't. The service was friendly.

We were able to arrive earlier. The service was quick and went well. Later in the evening, it wasn't at all. It got a bit busier around 6 p.m., and then we had a very long wait. No one came by to tell us it was busier or that the food and drinks might take longer. No one even checked on us to see if everything was to our liking. We only managed one drink in the 2.5-hour wait. Finally, we were able to order another after 25 minutes, and still nothing. Dessert took so long that we had to leave early because the drinks hadn't arrived yet. They struggled to think of anything to take off the bill. And for the missed dessert because we couldn't part with the three-course deal, they only asked for "a slice of apple pie for the road?" And worst of all, there was no apology for the inconvenience, and it wasn't a pleasant evening when we left.

De Beren in Almere. I wanted to treat my wife to dinner at a restaurant. I arrived at De Beren and thought, "Well, it looks big and beautiful." It was big, but there weren't many customers. Well, it must be because it was Monday. We ordered our food, and it took a while to get it. We both ordered medium pork tenderloin. And what we ordered was definitely NOT medium-cooked. You could have used it as a shoe sole. The vegetables we got were: half a carrot, three mushrooms, a slice of zucchini, and a small piece of bell pepper. Afterward, we got sweet potato fries. They were charred and therefore not very appetizing to look at or eat. Well, that was the first and last time we'll eat there. Oh, when I said my pork tenderloin was like shoe sole leather, I got a new one... Again, I asked for medium, and it was quite raw inside. So if you're looking for a good meal, I definitely don't recommend De Beren in Almere. The service was terrible, and the food was even worse for your money. So be warned if you're planning to eat out. I think a chip shop would be a much better option for "eating out."

Yesterday we visited the restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday with his family. Unfortunately, we left before even getting to dessert due to several issues. Despite having a 1:00 PM reservation, the service was extremely slow: we didn't receive our appetizer until 2:00 PM and the main course until 2:26 PM. I also ordered eggs Benedict and discovered a piece of plastic on the salmon. I assume the salmon was unwrapped too quickly, leaving a piece of packaging on it. Although the staff offered to replace the dish, my appetite had already vanished. I've always had fond memories of this restaurant from years ago, and that's why I plan to return at some point. However, this experience has left me with the feeling that the restaurant is no longer what it once was.

Very dissatisfied! We had a movie package where you first get a three-course meal and then watch a movie of your choice. Unfortunately, it took an hour and a half to prepare our main course! Because of this, we missed our movie. Furthermore, the staff was very unfriendly. When clearing the table, they didn't ask how our meal tasted or if we'd like another drink. While making our reservation (by phone), there was laughter and conversation with other colleagues. When the food finally arrived, our burgers were burnt.

As always at De Beren, it's fun and cozy, and the food is a mix of very good and not so good. The starters were great, but the combined main course was reasonably good spareribs, but satay was way too dry. The apple crumble dessert was great, but there wasn't enough chocolate sauce for the churros and the dame blanche. All in all, a convenient restaurant in a great location, with "average" food.
