The food was delicious. The service was cool. Not very welcoming, which is a shame. We asked what was served with the fish. The lady replied: sauce and vegetables. (No explanation) We asked what she had for an aperitif: one answer: "Prosecco." ... Really not a good feeling. We ate with four people: Everyone had the same feeling... about both the lady and the gentleman.

A beautiful, small restaurant with an atmospheric decor and a very personal experience. We had the surprise menu, which is highly recommended! Unique ingredients, creative combinations, and a fantastic atmosphere. I had a vegetarian version of the menu, which, by the way, is just as good as the regular version. The wine pairings were also carefully selected, and we received detailed explanations of the courses and drinks whenever we wanted. Definitely recommended!

The food at Cantharel was absolutely delicious! The owners were also very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was only open for us that evening, but that wasn't a problem at all. This restaurant is worth the detour!

We had already heard rave stories about this restaurant in Blerick. Finally the moment had arrived because we had something to celebrate. This place is a great place to stay because it is spacious and has a lovely large table. What was also nice is the beautiful art on the walls and on the tables. Very interesting menu and so was the wine list. All the dishes we had were fantastic and also beautifully presented. Compliments to this owner couple who have apparently been running this place for 27 years (without staff).

If you want to enjoy a culinary evening in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to be! The dishes are delicious, refined and always surprising! They work with fresh and surprising ingredients. The wines are also carefully selected for the dishes, in short, it is always enjoyable here!

On the advice of the B&B we went to the Cantharel. The food was fine, but the hostess and host were downright stiff. We were not asked once if everything was to our liking or if the food had tasted good. I find that very strange. Afterwards we went for a cup of coffee and the waitress even asked if everything had been to our liking. That is also a form of politeness.

Dit restaurant hebben we al diverse malen bezocht, en nooit een beoordeling afgegeven. dit omdat ik vaker buiten de deur eet en daar niet altijd tijd of zin voor heb, Maar dit keer moet ik zeker een postieve beoordeling afgeven, het lijkt wel of de mensen van het restaurant het steeds beter gaan doen. We hebben gisteravond buitegwoon smaakvol vegetarisch gegeten, iets waar het bij vele restaurants wel vaker mis gaat. Men denkt dan gewoon wat salade of groentes op een bord te gooien en "verkopen" dit dan als vegetarische schotel. Nou hier bij de cantharel hebben ze het begrepen, wat een fantastische combinatie van smaken, we hadden 3 vegetarische gangen, en we hebben van elke gang echt genoten. Wat een kunst om de gerechten zo goed qua smaak en opmaak te combineren. Well done!!

Onze vrienden uit Nijmegen wilden graag met ons een avondje uit eten gaan in Venlo. Maar ze zijn vegetariërs. Nu komen wij regelmatig bij de Cantharel maar eten dan hun specialiteiten van de dag. Daar zaten vaak hele verassende vegetarische gerechten bij. Deze avond alleen maar vegetarisch gegeten en wij waren allemaal zeer onder de indruk. Ik denk dat er hier in de omgeving geen beter restaurant te vinden is die met zoveel passie dit kan bieden. En ze hebben, niet minder belangrijk, een hele mooie wijnkaart die zeer betaalbaar is. Doen!

Eaten regularly. Always great. Always good dishes and excellent wines.

De eigenaar, tevens kok nam regelmatig de tijd om ons gezelschap ook te bedienen en natuurlijk onze complimenten in ontvangst te nemen. Zeker een restaurant om aan te bevelen.

De Cantharel is een klein restaurant, dat door een sympathiek echtpaar gerund wordt. Wij besloten voor een 4 gangen menu met een wijnarrangement; dat bleek een goede keuze. Het was allemaal lekker en enkele verrassende wijnen. Prijs/kwaliteit is orde.

Had the crushed scallops beforehand, nice dish, but not quite to my taste. As a main course, the turbot was fried a little too long, making it dry, and the asparagus absolutely deserved the title of al dente. The sauce was delicious.

First things first. The food, drink choice and ambiance here is perfect. Nothing to complain about. This establishment is located within walking distance of the center and the harbor. You take a seat in a kind of living room where there are about 6 to 8 tables. You will receive a very friendly welcome from the owners themselves. We definitely recommend the surprise menu with accompanying wines. These complement each other very well. The food is beautifully served with attention to details. What we missed was the element of surprise that you often get with these types of menus. A small snack, amuse-bouche on the house. But this certainly did not detract from the experience. Price is very fair. Reservations are necessary and they take wishes and allergies into account.
