We tried another social deal in Breda this evening. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed. The dishes were bland and lacked any love. This could definitely be better, even at a reduced price.

Food isn't fresh! Old rolls are being reheated! Menu is incomplete. All in all, a bad experience, expensive, but not good food.

As always, we had a delicious meal here. It's always very pleasant, and the staff is friendly. We keep coming back when we're shopping in Breda.

Was invited by friends here. Nothing special food wise. My wife had the 'famous saté platter', I had the burger for lunch. The saté platter tasted like it had pre made sauce and there is not a lot you can do wrong with making chicken thigh. The burger wasn't terrible and wasn't great, a lot of it tasted like premade ingredients. The service was okay but didn't show a lot of interest.

A charming restaurant with a terrace large enough to practically walk through. Lunch options—club sandwich, bagels, and a 12-o'clock snack—are around €15, which almost feels like a reasonable price these days. The service is friendly and attentive, the kind of service that gives you that extra nudge to order another drink. In short: cozy, delicious, and just right for a relaxing lunch in the heart of Breda.

A beautiful and rustic restaurant. A perfect place to relax and enjoy a delicious snack and drinks. Atmospheric decor and ambiance. The menu has clearly been carefully selected. The drink selection is also excellent. Hospitality and expertise are paramount here and should be written in capital letters. Reasonable pricing makes this highly praised venue an absolute must-visit.

The chocolate milk tasted a bit too strong, like water. We also had to wait an hour for our food, and then a meat croquette was missing. It was a shame there were only 4 people in the restaurant, and that was us. It's a shame we were there, so I don't really recommend it, but it can happen.

It's a shame there was a long wait here. We asked if we could grab a quick bite to eat, but we had to wait a long time. This is very unfortunate. The waitress also didn't seem to enjoy her job enough.

Had a wonderful meal in a beautiful building on the Grote Markt. Friendly staff too. Excellent!

The place has a cozy, classic atmosphere with chandeliers and a great view of the square. The burgers were delicious — the homemade bread was crunchy and flavorful, making it extra special, and the fries were also very good. The only downside was the waiting time, about 20–30 minutes before the food arrived. Still, the quality made up for it. Conveniently, it’s also located next to Hotel De Klok, which makes it a great spot for visitors staying nearby.

The service was a bit rushed, but that was probably because it was just lunchtime and quite busy. However, my Mezzogiorno Italiano (Italian snack) arrived fairly quickly, and it was delicious.

Had breakfast this morning and it was excellent. We enjoyed sitting on the covered veranda.

Terribly poor service, especially the female floor manager in the black blouse. We waited 2.5 hours for our food, and then we were rudely addressed.

Spontaneously had some lunch, unfortunately it wasn't that great. Had an omelette that looked like chewing gum. I said something about it, but nothing was done about it. I always liked it there, but now?.. not recommended... Once I got home and an hour later I got sick from eating it. Fast and neat service. Nice menu and a nice location.

When we go out to eat, we give ourselves the luxury of an experience and entrust ourselves to the care of "professionals" who are trained, not to serve, but to give us a moment of attention and hospitality, give to the custumer a moment. The location of this restaurant is excellent, the food is normal, it would not be a gastronomic experience, the beer is cold, but the manager's service was a disgrace, who should be the example for a team was nothing more than an uncomfortable and ridiculous presence. I'm a customer of this restaurant and I always take friends to Breda and specifically to this restaurant. On the day of the Breda Jazz, I had the displeasure of having my friend ridiculed by the manager in front of my daughter, simply because of a sip of water. That day we went for lunch as usual and my friend ordered tap water and I dont know if in that day,you couldn't order "tap water" without a drink (I'm not the one who's going to teach them business). As a result, I ordered beer and water, my daughter ordered fanta and water and my friend was just going to eat and have a drink later. We made a toast and my friend took a sip of my daughter's water, the "manager" immediately came over to use his energy to argue, then he said to my friend with my 10-year-old daughter on her side "this is not a place of CHARITY to be giving you water". I finished my drink, waited for my daughter to finish her Fanta, I paid the bill and left a 10% tip and had to explain to my daughter how respect and hospitality should work. I would love to listen from the REAL MANAGER, I think is better to hear from the owner.

Ate here once via social Deal and super menu! Everything really delicious and generous portions: beautiful presentation also and friendly service. Really above expectations!!

I was sitting with a friend and a child, and asked for tap water while I was choosing my food. The so-called manager—a young guy with a smirk on his face—literally told me I had to order a drink, otherwise I wasn’t allowed to have tap water, not even from my friend’s glass. He actually saw me take a sip from her glass and came all the way over just to say, “You can’t drink that—you didn’t order anything. We’re not a charity!” I have never been treated like this in my life, especially over a sip of tap water. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Waitress was ipset because I asked over the food they served before ordering something to drink..The staff makes one feel unwelcome, no Hello no a friendly welcoming smile..Looks like there is no Manager controlling the proper service is given to customers No knowledge of what they are serving.... The mens toilet was durty, and something was leaking ,the floor was wet .There are plenty of restaurants in the area for next time....

Delicious! Sometimes there is no room but I would come early. We usually have room and almost always come here. We think the sandwiches are excellent. Very friendly service and really delicious food. Cozy and cozy restaurant. Clear menu and good for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Definitely worth the 5 stars

Apple pie was weak and after half an hour I had an upset stomach. So don't order apple pie there.

What a top tent, most friendly service in a long time! Delicious dinner (asparagus) and all 3 of our dogs received a bowl of the tastiest leftover food without asking!!!

Restaurant met leuke authentieke uitstraling aan de Grote Markt. We hebben 3 hoofdgerechten besteld: 1. Asperges op z'n Vlaams, 2. de Libanese arayes en 3. Classic Burger. Wij waren niet onder de indruk. In het algemeen smaakten de gerechten saai, terwijl er bijvoorbeeld van Libanees lamsgehakt echt wel iets spannends te maken is. De asperges smaakten houtachtig, aardappeltjes daarbij niet goed al dente; het pitabroodje bij de arayes was hardgebakken; de classic burger had niet een meerwaarde ten opzichte van de BK Whopper. Prijzen vallen mee, hoewel, voor de aspergeschotel betalen we bijna 30 euro. Bediening en sfeer goed, maar echt 'uit' ben je vooral als je ook lekker eet.

Nice setting at the Market in Breda. Excellent service. Ordered three different main courses. Lebanese arayes downright disappointing, Flemish asparagus dish: asparagus and potatoes not a nice bite; classic burger not much better than a burger at a fast food restaurant. This must be possible better.

We had a beef burger, but it's not 100% beef, the taste and texture of a sausage...I didn't like it at all, the presentation was rather undesirable...service a little long, brasserie atmosphere.

Only went there for drinks on the terrace, took them a while to get our order even though it wasn't busy.

We had the social deal for a three-course meal with amuses. Everything was delicious and good value for money with this deal. Generous portions. Nice interior.

Do you come here at 10:30 and ask if you can have breakfast/lunch? Then you can wait 20 minutes until someone comes and then says that we cannot order anything. Very inadvisable, unfriendly and not hospitable intention here!

Half a beer for a full price. Waitress doesn't take you seriously and says casually: "there is a hole in the glass, maybe the next beer will be better"

De Colonie is heel gezellig, sfeervol (zowel voor een drankje als lunch of diner, trouwens), leuke, gewoon huiselijk maar toch netjes, inrichting ook. We waren er weer ‘s op vrijdagavond, gereserveerd voor diner. Bediening weer met een glimlach, netjes, beleefd en vriendelijk, en verstand van zaken. Rode wijn (Tempranillo) was erg lekker. Hoofdgerecht heel smakelijk, mooi op het bord en precies genoeg. Eén punt van aandacht, vegetarische keuze (voor mijn vriendin) was helaas wat karig (twee hoofdgerechten). Maar: het gekozen gerecht was erg lekker! Dus, top, heel goed bevallen maar tip voor de chef: alstublieft wat meer vegetarische keus op de kaart. Tot de volgende keer :)

Really delicious food! Menu was very tasty! Carpaccio, steak, cheesecake, delicious! The atmosphere is very nice, you can sit outside in the summer. The staff is very friendly and attentive!

Lunch was fine. We had the Club sandwich and wild mushroom toast. Service was fast. Until we finished the food. I just walked to the cash register to ask for the bill.

In one word: fantastic! Beautiful and atmospheric, smooth, friendly and flexible service and, above all, very tasty food. The satay was particularly tasty and so was the Italian 12 o'clock meal. Recommended!

The biggest point for this restaurant is for its location. It is in the heart of the center, right behind (in front of?) the main cathedral of Breda. Also, the style looks very unique, with a lot of accessoires. Quite a spacious place, therefore it was a lot of groups of people there (8-9 in a row). Booking a table must be done in advance for sure. Be prepared for extremely noisy time. What can be improved: there are tables at veranda part where you do feel constantly opened door, be prepared. There are no blankets which might be beneficial. Food was average and perhaps precooked in advance. I did not enjoy it, unfortunately. I did finish only starters and dessert (crème brulé). The dessert was big and delicious (hope this particular dessert must be hardly bad made ever). Service could be also more inthousiastic, it was okay. Overall did not get so big popularity of this place....

Had a lovely lunch here, it was delicious, good service, nice atmosphere, nice and spacious seating, dogs were also allowed to come, water also for our dogs, Recommended!!!!!

Super scanty! . Second Christmas dinner here with the family. Very friendly atmosphere and service. My wife and I had the redfish fillet served with a kind of risotto-like side dish (saffron orzo) and a prawn. Once served, it turned out to be a mouse piece of fish. Assisted by a small prawn. The orzo had no taste and resembled a meal from a South American prison. The waitress did not agree with our complaint and said that we should have ordered more sauce. So our mistake! The kids' dish wasn't much more!

We were sitting in the heart of Breda around dinner time choosing a restaurant via Google Maps. We call De Colonie. Someone is recording, but we have to wait for several minutes for a colleague from the service. We hang up and call again. This repeats itself a few times. It turns out that De Colonie is within walking distance, so we go there and make a reservation for 8:00 PM. However, due to circumstances we had to cancel again around 7:50 PM and again they were unreachable by phone. I recommend De Colonie to improve accessibility.

Friendly service, quality food in line with the price

We had dinner here on November 14. The service was very friendly but the time between the different courses was quite long. The care and presentation of the plates was very nice and especially the carpaccio starter was very tasty and quite a lot of it. Unfortunately, the meat (rump steak) was grilled and not fried, which gives a completely different taste. Furthermore, it was a bit on the chilly side in the restaurant.

We werden super fijn ontvangen !! Daarna werd ons een leuke tafel aangewezen!! Max is een topper! Hij heeft ons heel de avond super goed geholpen! Ik zou dit restaurant aanraden voor iedereen die opzoek is naar een leuke eetgelegenheid!! Daarnaast hebben we gastheer Joey die ons super goed hielp de hele avond lang!

Great place, food & drinks, but I was shocked at how rude the waiter was; not even to us but to people sitting next to us on the terrace. (we had a different waitress about whom we have no complaints).

Soms heb je pech. Vandaag Saltimbucco gegeten die 2x zo weinig voorstelde als wat onze buurman iets later kreeg voorgeschoteld. Daarnaast viel de kwaliteit van het eten ons echt tegen. Ook de Sate was heel middelmatig qua smaak. Snackbarkwaliteit is het woord wat bij ons opkwam. De bediening kwam met een verhaal dat alle eten afgewogen werd...en dus gelijk moest zijn. Wellicht dat wij wat aan onze ogen mankeerden. Geen excuus, geen kopje koffie aangeboden gekregen, alleen de rekening. Conclusie: De Colonie is niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Waitress was more concerned with her buddies than with us. We constantly had to wait 30 minutes for our drinks. And it was not busy at all… evening from Saturday to Sunday around 11:00 PM to 12:30 AM. One waitress says that something has run out, the other says politely and honestly that the kitchen is closed.

We went there to have breakfast and arrived at 09:00 am - the restaurant was quite empty. Though breakfast should be served from 07:00 - 11:00 we had to wait for 25 minutes. Asking the waitress we got corrected that we only had waited for 20 minutes - no excuses, no friendliness. Breakfast was not served as we had ordered and the quality was poor and really too expensive for what we got. Keep away.

In het autovrije gedeelte van het centrum op een plein gelegen grand café met groot terras. Onze lunch was er prima en werd vlot en vriendelijk geserveerd. Ook een leuk, authentiek interieur. Er is ook een hotel gevestigd.

Zeer bedroevend ondanks de goede reviews. Heel spijtig. Toch wens ik dit restaurant veel succes voor de toekomst want mits enige aanpassingen wordt dit zeker een succes.

Always the first place to relax after arriving in Breda!

Had lunch today. It was busy and it took a long time before we got lunch. Unfortunately the bottom of the bouncer was burnt. The twelve o'clock was nice. Very well resolved by the service. No more bouncers taken. But my partner's twelve hours didn't have to be paid for either. And then a nice cappuccino afterwards. We were not used to this. The problem has been solved. Will definitely come back.

Sit on the terrace in the center of Breda and enjoy delicious and honest dishes as it should be The Italian 12 o'clock was very tasty The smoked salmon sandwich melted in your mouth and was very tasty with the fermented red cabbage in between. The beef croquettes are as they should be, crispy and full of flavour. Friendly service on top of that.

Great location!! Bread staff, good beds. Con: Great breakfast, but for 180 euros for 1 night it is strange that you get 1 cup of coffee with breakfast and have to pay for the next one. We all find breakfast a bit meager. Especially if your first cup of coffee is served 15 minutes before your breakfast and is therefore finished by the time you eat, you need/want another one.

We had a small lunch consisting of the mackerel roll and the smoked salmon sandwich in this nice restaurant with a beautiful terrace, great ingredients, but the knives plucked the soft bread more than it cut it. The one with mackerel was clear, the one with salmon was rather generous, the service at our table in the room between the restaurant and the terrace was unfortunately weak, the wait outside was significantly less long... we found the prices for what was offered to be steep, just under 40 euros for the bread and the espresso. A nice gesture, however, was the glass of water with the espresso!

Very bad service. We had been sitting for 10 minutes and we had not yet been asked if we wanted something to drink. After us, people came to sit down and they could immediately place their drink orders. We waited another 5 minutes and then got on.

Been here on a summer spring day April 13, terraces full and cozy, service correct, hardworking and adequate. Food was delicious, smoked salmon bread was delicious, full of fillings and good taste, club sandwich was a delicious bomb, fresh. There were 4 of us here, we will definitely come back...if there is room :) PS: tipped because good is good and may be worth something.
