What an incredible disappointment! The website stated that we were allowed to pet rabbits (not so), there are beautiful photos on it, and the announcement that there are various food vendors. The park looked neglected and was taken over by a group of football boys running and screaming everywhere. The beautiful large owl was very frightened. Its cage was very low; it could barely fly. The rabbits were sitting on a concrete floor with a small piece of straw. The benches were decayed and desolate. There were several wooden huts where something was offered, I think, but it was faded glory. We had a drink inside; it looked old and cold. The staff, on the other hand, absolutely did their best to look presentable. The entire restaurant looked makeshift. A real shame, because what a beautiful place this could be. There was no clear sign indicating park entrance/buy food/mini golf, even though the website makes this clear.

The guinea pig in the cage. Please do something about that!! Guinea pigs don't tolerate heat very well and he looked terrible in that super hot shed! Get him out!!! We won't be going back a second time. We found the communication unprofessional, the food was disappointing, and the way the animals were treated didn't give us a good feeling either.

We made a stop here on the way back from vacation. Upon entering, you think: quite a nice place. The menu and prices looked fine. Unfortunately, various drinks and sandwiches were sold out, and the quality of the food ultimately fell short of expectations. The service was okay. However, it was noticeable that there was a lot of staff present, even though you still had to order at the table via a QR code. We were with two children who wanted to see the playground and the animals. To be honest, we were a bit shocked by that. Both the playground and the animal enclosure seem to be in need of maintenance. Especially regarding the animals, we wondered about their welfare. It just felt sad to see. The playground is, unfortunately, a shadow of its former glory. The swimming pool, on the other hand, looked busy, lively, and well-attended. However, the combination of pool, animals, and restaurant feels very messy and not at all like a cohesive whole. Our tip for De Dwaze Herder: choose a clear direction. Stop with the animals, for example, so that care and space can be invested elsewhere. It would be better to expand the playground or the swimming pool area. We would not come back for the food, but I certainly see possibilities for parties or events for people from the local area.

Unfortunately, we did not have a pleasant experience at De Dwaze Herder. Due to a problem, we were unexpectedly unable to use the swimming pool. Instead of understanding or a polite attempt to find a solution, the response was very rude, and the communication was anything but professional. After that, there was no further response. Additionally, a pool lounger was compared to a concert ticket, which, frankly, is a strange comparison. Concert tickets can often be resold, whereas in this case, it was simply a request to find a solution for another day. We also found the indoor playground very stuffy, and the staff didn't seem to really know what they were doing. Sadly, we won't be returning a second time. Poor service and 110 euros wasted.

Unfortunately, it was severely understaffed, so we waited 45 minutes for them to answer (after insisting). Due to the understaffing, the service and friendliness weren't top-notch either. Good location, and it will probably be better on less busy days…

We reached and ordered at 20:45 at the venue. The waitress took the order, however in 2 mins came back and said the kitchen is closed. Website says open till 22:00 nowhere it mentions the kitchen closing time. Not professional attitude at all. Hence highly not recommended if you don’t want to be left high and dry!!

We had a quick lunch here today. All three of us had a croquette sandwich. Good Burgundian croquettes. The lunch arrived nice and fast, which was very nice, because then we could move on quickly too. The restaurant looks super atmospheric. And the veranda outside is decorated in a completely tropical style as well. Very nice! And it was great that our dog was welcome inside too.

We stopped here on both the way to and from Luxembourg because the Tesla supercharger is literally right next to it. The food was good and the courtyard was cozy. There are also fun things to do for small children.

We plugged our car into the fast charger at this spot and sat comfortably on the terrace in the meantime. The food, drinks, and service were top-notch! Moreover, this place is a true children's play paradise. What a fantastic stopover spot this is; I would definitely recommend it!

Had delicious pancakes and a cup of coffee, nice people

This was the meager healthy sandwich I have ever had: The bottom of a baguette with some lettuce and an egg slapped on top/next to it. That's it. It was 'to go' too, which simply meant the whole lot (lettuce next to the bread, basically) was placed on a cardboard plate with aluminum foil over it. If you can eat that 'to go' without getting messy, respect. It also took forever for it to arrive. A sad state of affairs.

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff

Very bad service. We ordered drinks and food, and they asked us to wait for sometime to get the food. After one hour, we followed up and they told us the food order was not even placed in the Kitchen and then they asked us again to wait for some time, I would not recommend this place if you are in a rush to go to your destination and having a quick stop. Very bad experience

What a disappointment. We had to wait endlessly, and when the food finally arrived, it was just bad. The service was disorganized, slow, and unfriendly. This is absolutely not something we would repeat.

Very bad service. That young employee was very good and respectful, but the woman serving was very bad and disrespectful. Furthermore, you order a healthy sandwich and receive it after 20 minutes, and it feels like we ordered fish, so not reliable.

Just had a delicious meal at De Dwaze Herder. Lovely terrace and friendly service! In the meantime, the car has been charged for the onward journey. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely fantastic! We stopped by on a whim to charge our groceries, and the place was really nice, quite quirky and unusual (a bit hippie-ish!). Service was easy and quick via a QR code on the table, and the food was good, especially the waffle, which was fresh. The young waitress was super friendly and smiling! It's a really great place for children with an indoor play area and another one outside, plus a mini-farm with animals. The restrooms were clean. The parking lot is quite large and very easy to access.

Review ist for the restaurant. Very nice surprise while charging at the supercharger, much better than the 3.9 (as of 21.3.226) rating made us fear. Crispy fries, fresh salad , fresh pizza and a bouncy castle for the kids and a fun , summery atmosphere. Service very polite and prompt. Agréablement surpris ! !!

Well, the weather wasn't great; we stayed there for one night with the camper. A lovely time out after a drive from Spain. Due to the rain, the grounds were soaking wet. We do think the sanitary facilities need a major renovation. One shower and two toilets is a bit limited. Otherwise, it was wonderfully quiet. We had a good dinner in the restaurant in the evening, with friendly staff. All in all, a cozy campsite, highly recommended, especially when the weather is nice or as a lovely stopover.

Great camper place, friendly welcome and good food in the restaurant, very friendly and good service, we will come back here more often.

Apparently, the rules have changed. You're now charged €3.00 per drink for your own drinks. I hadn't been there in a long time, and I wasn't aware of this. The adults had ordered a drink. Instead of warning people, there's a note on the door that you overlook. When you look at the bill, you see open drinks. I think this is going a bit too far, especially since drinks were ordered. Apparently, things aren't going well with the business. Never saw me again 😡

Charging the car, ordering a steak, friendly service, the food arrived quickly and tasted great, and then arriving at the car, which was exactly 99% complete. I give it a solid 10!

We only picked up a panini here, and it was frozen... such a shame. Otherwise, the staff was friendly. But an inedible panini cost €6.

I was hungry while loading up, but we were kindly helped upon arrival. After a 15-minute wait, the sandwiches came out of the kitchen. They weren't just cold, they were still frozen, as we discovered when we got in the car. Such a shame.

We had lunch here and a cup of coffee while our car was charging at one of the many Tesla chargers. Nice cafe with a cozy interior. The restrooms are definitely in need of updating! Friendly and hospitable service. We enjoyed a delicious toasted sandwich while listening to the whistling of the funny parrot that makes its home here.

A perfect stop to recharge the car and yourself!! Our regular stop on our way to the Ardennes and Luxembourg. It's a bit cluttered, but we find that charming. They have good coffee, and we also enjoyed lunch and dinner here. Definitely recommended!

We stayed at a campervan site. It's conveniently located on the road. It's a very expensive campervan site, though. There's only one shower, one women's toilet, and one men's toilet. There's no lighting outside the restrooms, so it's very dark. There's also a dishwashing area and electricity. €23.60. The food was delicious, and the menu could be a bit larger. A small pork tenderloin, one carrot, one slice of zucchini, and one slice of cucumber. The fries weren't enough for three people. The staff were very friendly. Friends had paid earlier and didn't receive a 5% discount, so I had to ask for it. It shouldn't be necessary if you're just advertising it. When we arrived, it wasn't clear where to report the 5% discount. The restaurant was completely full. It might be better to post it somewhere near the barrier.

It wasn't that great. A team outing where you pay 25 euros per person for a barbecue. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't very tasty. It's a shame the owner responded that this is a fake review. It might be more helpful if he remembered that we had a team outing last Saturday with more than 20 people.

Didn't stay overnight, but ate alone with 10 people. It was cozy and delicious. The service was great.

A charming restaurant/cafe with a small petting zoo (a free-roaming peacock that "visits" you while you eat) and a children's playground, ideally located next to a Tesla Supercharger near the highway. Friendly service, reasonable prices, and good food. One of our favorite spots to take a break while the car charges.

We came here because there's a Tesla fast-charging location nearby. We enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee while charging. It's clean, and the service is very friendly. We'll definitely be back!

Sorry guys, I understand this isn't a fancy place, but ordering 2 flat whites and apple pie and getting 2 lattes and an apricot pie is really quite bad.

I don't understand some of the negative reviews. We stayed at the Camperplaats and everything was perfect, a very warm welcome! The restaurant is also excellent value for money, and if you stay at the Camperplaats, you get a nice discount on top of the already very reasonable prices. I definitely recommend the three-course menu, and pair it with a nice bottle of red wine 😁

I liked it. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant offers a 5% discount for campers. You can get around Maastricht quickly by bike. But you can't drain the grey water directly from your motorhome. And you can only get fresh water with a jug.

Sit comfortably while the children have fun

We were on our way back from vacation, charging the Tesla, early on a Monday, around 11:45. Much better experiences than those described here: attentive and friendly staff, clean, and good prices for the excellent food. Not exceptional, but certainly good enough.

The location is very good for kids

Today I thought let me take my boys out for a treat after school. Firstly I had to get up and place my own order. Very pleasant lady. When my order came from another waiter he was extremely rude to me when I asked if our drinks were also on its way. He went off at me in front of all the other clients that he has alot to do and that he will get to me. The clients couldn't believe the way he was talking to me. If you are under pressure get extra staff. Unfortunately people can make or break a place. Very nice place for kids to play and good food.

Tesla charging is great. The restaurant is a bit run-down. There are also vending machines.

Unfortunately, one time very tasty, other time mediocre, staff does its best but again very variable and no more wine, chardoney was gone

We were with a group. It was complete chaos. The food wasn't hot and wasn't served at the same time. We sat at the table for three hours for a starter and main course. Simply incompetent staff. They couldn't handle it.

We stayed here for one night with our campervan (passing through). The location and service were excellent. We ate at the brasserie. It was a lovely dinner, with good and friendly service. The price-quality ratio is excellent. We will definitely come back again.

We had a very nice time here during our break. After loading the car, we stayed longer to enjoy the restaurant. The food was very good, and the place is super kids-friendly. Both we and the children had a great time. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a longer stop where kids can enjoy themselves.

You order a club chicken sandwich for 14.50 and get the crusts off the bread, a piece of chicken breast, and a piece of bacon. When you confront the staff about it, they react anything but friendly. The kitchen has deteriorated significantly in the past year.

Close to the highway with a set of Tesla chargers, also suitable for other brands with an account. Perfect for having a drink while charging.

We waren op doorreis en wilden hier even de auto laden en tegelijkertijd hapje eten. We hadden allebei een salade; quinoa en hete kip. Beiden waren ze super vers en heerlijk. Niet vaak zo’n lekkere salade gegeten. De bediening was zeer alert en vriendelijk en snel. We zouden hier zeker terugkomen.

Along the A2 highway, fast service, generous portions, and excellent service. Delicious food and back on the road quickly!

A great spot for a meal with kids (on the go). The children's menu selection is excellent, something for everyone. The staff is young and could use some practice, but they're very friendly. We'll save this for next time.

Unfortunately, not recommended! We were here on a Sunday at 3 p.m. We ordered via QR code (a cool option; we could select a language, but it didn't change the menu at all!) We ordered a double espresso, an iced coffee with cream, and a waffle. The drinks came without cream, and the waffle didn't arrive at all. After I sent a message saying something was missing and we waved several times without success, the waffle arrived. Since our children had already gone back to the car because the waffle was taking too long, we wanted to cancel it and not pay for the missing whipped cream. The whipped cream was then removed, and we had to order the waffle anyway. According to the waitress, the kitchen was too busy. Um. The restaurant wasn't even half full; the waitresses kept standing around, just looking... Absolutely not recommended, even though it's a great place that could do more, especially with the high traffic at the Tesla charging stations! The restrooms were okay; there was soap and paper. The cleanliness was so-so. It's best not to take a closer look.

Parking lot and superchargers for the Tesla. Then you pull into a gravel parking lot full of holes and bumps and think this will be alright... Then it turns out the crazy Shepherd has super friendly staff and a lovely terrace with lots to see. The coffee was great and the waffle was delicious.

Well, all the campsites in and around Maastricht were full because of the Andre Rieu concert. That's how we ended up at this spot. The spot itself was OK, fairly large, and had electricity. We'll keep quiet about the sanitary facilities. Ugh - the toilets were awful, so we didn't even bother to look at the showers. Relatively well located for a bike ride into the city. Otherwise: good for an overnight stay and then a quick exit...

Charging at the supercharger and then having a simple but delicious meal here. The salads are really good! The spicy chicken and quinoa are both highly recommended!

A good stopover, but €7.95 for a slice of cheesecake is a lot of money. Good cheesecake, though.

A liter of tap water for €3.95. A glass of tap water for €0.80. I believe it's even illegal to charge for tap water in Dutch restaurants and bars. I think it's important to point out this ridiculous rip-off to future visitors...

A truly unique location with very friendly staff! Ample free parking, including electric charging stations. Food and drinks are also available to go! Another bonus: great music on the terrace!

Had lunch here today with a club sandwich and tarte flambée. It was delicious.

Beautiful campsite near Maastricht. With a small zoo and a spacious playground. A pool where you can book a berth. Electricity is available. One shower. One toilet for men and one for women. No soap. No greywater disposal; only a chemical toilet. The water connection for supplies is right next to the water connection for cleaning the chemical toilet (double tap) above the disposal point. Friendly staff and a restaurant nearby. We stayed for two nights.

We hadden de spareribs en het varkenshaasje besteld. Portie spareribs was prima en lekker. Het varkenshaasje echter was ontzettend klein. Toen de serveerster, die overigens erg vriendelijk was, vroeg of alles naar wens was geweest, aangegeven dat het varkenshaasje ontzettend klein was. Zij zei dat ze deze klacht regelmatig krijgen en dit ook steeds doorgegeven aan de keuken die er echter niks mee doet.... Wij komen hier niet meer terug!

What a lovely campervan site! We received a very warm welcome at the brasserie. The view over the beautiful pool is stunning, almost like Ibiza. We're going to have dinner at the brasserie later, I'm curious how it will taste. I'm sure it will be good.

Just had a bite to eat. The schnitzel was small and thin. The mushroom sauce was thin and without mushrooms, oh, sorry, one for two schnitzels... service wasn't very smooth. Nice location.

While this location had excellent food until a few years ago, today it was more than disappointing. The tasteless penne was outrageously overpriced for the quality and flavor, and a club sandwich was nothing more than a stacked slice of bread with a thin slice of chicken breast. No effort had been made to create anything special, and being charged over 90 euros for quality and tasteless food feels like being taken for a ride. If the kitchen were given as much attention as the various renovations around the location, the terrace might be fuller. A huge disappointment, and we will not be visiting De Dwaze Herder again.

We stayed at the Dwaze Herder camper site on our way to France. It was a great spot, with both men's and women's restrooms and a shower. We didn't eat at the restaurant, so I can't comment. Dogs can be walked next to the camper area. I think it's a great base for a day trip to Maastricht.

A typical case of 10 staff members crammed together and zero service. There are also hardly any takeaway options (we considered it after everything took so long), despite all the signs outside promising otherwise. It's a nice location with a playground for kids, but I'd still skip it! The restrooms weren't clean, and according to the sign posted, the last cleaning was three months ago (!). It really shows how much attention they put into the place...

We stopped for lunch while our car was charging and it was great. The restaurant is huge and there was plenty of place to sit outside in a terrace with our dog. The food was great and well portioned. They had gluten free bread available as well. This is a great place to come with kids who need to get a bit of energy out after a long drive - there are plenty of play areas for little ones with bounce houses, indoor and outdoor playgrounds. Some equipment looks well used but the kids were all very happy. Well worth a stop

It's a nice place, but a bit expensive and the camper facilities are poor: only one shower and one toilet. For all these pitches, there's no place to dispose of waste. No, it doesn't have to be over the top. But this needs to be improved. 30 euros per night. Too expensive.

Google Maps suggests this place as a stop along the way. It's indeed easily accessible from the highway. It's just a shame that the covered patio is still sweltering, as if they still have the heaters on! The restaurant itself doesn't have air conditioning. And the staff could use some more training. After waiting and sweating for a bit, I finally drove to a cool gas station.

The way they treat the animals here is disgusting. The animals have tiny cages, the parrot has to sit on the hands of smokers on the terrace, and the owl can't even fly. It's deeply saddening to see how the foolish shepherd treats the animals, who are used solely for entertainment. I find it disgraceful.

I was there yesterday to take a quick break. I went outside and saw a snack machine and thought, "Well, I'd love some M&Ms." So I bought a bag and opened the lid, and there was a whole, half-rotten fish. What's going on, people?

The food was ok, but the service was not good. They made several mistakes, did not take allergens/requests into account (they did with the dish itself, but the same ingredients that they had to leave out there were still served in the salad, very bad!), did not smell fresh and mumbled unintelligibly.

Vandaag een vervelende ervaring bij de dwaze herder! Het eten kunnen we niet beoordelen want we kwamen voor het zwembad. Volgens de site zou deze om 10.00 opengaan maar gelijk bij binnenkomst werd gemeld dat ze pas om 11.00 open gingen. Dat was al heel lang zo volgens de aanwezige heer, maar hoe kan je dat weten als je hier voor het eerst komt! We hadden deze locatie ook voor de woensdag gereserveerd en deze was geannuleerd dus dat was duidelijk maar voor de dinsdag hadden we een bevestiging gekregen dus lijkt me dan geregeld maar nee ook dat was niet goed gegaan en sorry maar we zitten vol! Het was 32 graden en jammer joh je kunt weer gaan! Maar ook de toon was zeer onvriendelijk en we waren niet blij met de situatie. Toen we hier iets van zeiden werden we ook nog uitgelachen door het personeel! Helaas, eens maar nooit weer. Gelukkig uiteindelijk bij funvalley vriendelijk ontvangen, wat een andere toon daar!

Went there for a family lunch with small children who could play there wonderfully. Food was tasty and staff friendly.

We charged our EV here. Huge place with all sorts of themes. Definitely not a place to have a romantic drink together. But with a larger group definitely a great olek.

We only went here to eat. The onion soup was incredibly salty (probably reheated too often/too long). We could see into the kitchen and saw the satay go into the microwave. The fries seemed to have been in the frying fat again more than once. The spareribs and steak were good. Furthermore, the service was not great, there was only 1 enthusiastic person, with the rest you got the feeling that they had to work. We will not go here a second time
