Delicious food, good menu with tasty dishes, a weekly changing daily special at a very reasonable price. Very friendly service. The atmosphere in the restaurant is wonderfully 1930s.

Great restaurant with great chef in the center of beautiful historic Schiedam

Update 7-25 Yesterday the chef made a fantastic 23 course menu for our 23rd wedding anniversary. Everything was great, also with nice surprises. Delicious oysters with celery, paprika mousse with cherries and kletskop etc. Delicious food with very good service. Chapeau. Update 10-24, yesterday we had a delicious meal, a super tasty chef's menu. It is a place where everyone feels at home, couples, entire families, with or without a dog, and yes, even the loner can be found at the table. De Eenling is really delicious, for dinner but also for lunch. Delicious, an amazing addition to the catering offer in Schiedam. A piece of Parisian cuisine, with a Rotterdam attitude. This is what a lot of people have been waiting for. As an aperitif a delicious pastis, a vermouth and a non-alcoholic cocktail for our son, combined with bread and fried veal rillettes. As a starter, asparagus flan, with shrimp, or with smoked veal mouse, delicious. The creamy texture of the flan combined with meat/fish was really great. As a main course, stoemp, stamppot, with delicious caramelized vegetables, with or white fish, nicely fried until glazed, or confit duck, wow..... and then also a fried block, I think, polenta, fantastic combination. Everything accompanied by a delicious cremant de loire. And then for dessert, a pavlova with red fruit, for wife and son, and for me cheese, with a fine madeira. It may sound limited, a menu, with a choice of meat or fish, and a few choices on the side, but the service explained that this is their way of ensuring that they can produce good products with high quality at a very nice price in these times. What a wonderfully belated birthday present from Ilse... thank you. I enjoyed it.

The menu shows a chardonnay for six euros. We drink 6 and then have to pay 42 euros. When you say something about this to the owner Marnix, nothing is done about it with the excuse of a "printing error" on the menu. He thereby embarrasses his waitress who has to pay the bill. I used to come here regularly, always give a good tip, but from today I will never come here again. By the way, the ladies in the service did a perfect job.

A Bistrot. Relaxed atmosphere and attentive service, all very informal. Comfortable seats inside. We have eaten here twice in a short period of time, which in itself indicates that we liked it. French menu (of course), and the dishes are very tasty, fresh and very well prepared - the chef also knows about fish. It is a bit pricey, which may also be the reason why it has not been very busy the two times we have been there. Too bad, because the kitchen deserves more.

Delicious food, but decided to have dessert somewhere else because a scoop of ice cream was not available (can only be given to children and may not be given to adults) and they charged €1.50 for tap water. A dip on a leaky evening. I will unfortunately not come back here

Go eat here! The cooking is really fantastic with delicious flavors. Close to home in ingredients but always new and surprising in combinations. We have never been disappointed and always culinary stimulated! Also ask about the menu. That's off the charts and a treat every time!

Had lunch here for the first time. My girlfriend had a burnt sandwich and the cook, who was also the owner, did nothing with it and the cookies were soft and nothing was done about it! My food was delicious and the service was also good, although she spoke poor Dutch The windows were fogged up, so you couldn't see outside and it smelled in the restaurant, the air conditioning didn't work properly But my girlfriend doesn't come there anymore and the toilets were very dirty, so don't go to the toilets!

First time dining in the Eenling. The facility looks beautiful and promising. However, the large windows are soaking wet and the air inside smells like something is constantly burning. I asked the waiter, who hardly speaks Dutch, but says it is due to the heating?!? After an hour there was a blue smoke over the whole place. The outside doors were opened. The glasses were also not refilled. They certainly don't want to earn anything. Asked for attention several times to order something. The falafel burger was black, so burnt. The rest of the food was ok. However, below par for the price you pay. Anyway our clothes smelled or we had been eating gourmet all evening. The fact is that the four of us had a lot of fun together, but we will never eat here again.

Food, service and atmosphere are good. However, during a drink all the windows were completely steamed up. There are wet towels on the windowsill to absorb the moisture. This makes the appearance dingy and prevents me from entering. A real shame, because the rest is fine. Please note if you have difficulty walking: you have to go down a flight of stairs to reach the toilet.

Gave the benefit of the doubt to dine here again after a setback 2 weeks ago with complaints from my table guests; especially about the service and very salty ravioli. This time the main course from the chef's menu with meat and pulled pork was too salty and not tender. This time the operation was carried out by 2 people. One was attentive and tried her best, the other was downright rude, even pulling away a plate while I was still eating. Misunderstanding due to language skills is no excuse here. Cutlery was always forgotten, little attention was paid to us and the table; also in explanation, and for the matching wines. I find this a major disappointment. The sophistication is a bit off here. I felt secondhand shame towards my invited guest. I would prefer not to have written all this down, because I know it could be great here. But for now, I don't think I'll come here anymore.

A really lovely restaurant with nice and good service, not to mention more than delicious food. Actually even a little above expectations. Had a super nice evening.

Reserved a table here when visiting Schiedam. Beautiful table on the cozy terrace in the center. The menu raised questions because it is very eclectic, something for everyone. However, the sea bass with lemon risotto and the guinea fowl were perfectly prepared and very tasty. Service was very busy but was fast and friendly. Highly recommended.

Delicious dinner outside on a warm summer evening. You sit comfortably and watch the people of Schiedam pass you by. We had already selected a few delicious dishes on the website that were unfortunately not on the local menu (sorry the website has not been updated). The chef is on holiday so things are not going smoothly. A number of dishes are sold out and the rack of lamb and snails cannot be ordered at all. No surprise menu either. Then just improvise. The service by two young ladies is very friendly. Starter with vol-au-vent and fish salad. Tasted great! As a main course, both had a Sdam burger. Tasted like a hamburger on a bun should taste. Still a disappointment if you have rack of lamb in mind. The steak was also sold out. The caramel choux made up for something and the Irish coffee tasted good, as did the glasses of Merlot and chardonnay. All in all we lost €140.50, so the €150 voucher covered the bill. It remains strange to eat a hamburger in such a restaurant, but we will definitely go back and hope that the dishes from the menu and website can be ordered.

Been here on my holiday trip. It was tasty and a cozy ambience. Sat inside while it was raining. Had a coffee and a sandwhich for lunch.

Food is full of flavour. Choice is not great but enough, there could be a little more fish on the menu, except for oysters, skrei which is seasonal and halibut, there is no fish on it. But the Fries are delicious freshly made. So all in all quite satisfied. It wasn't busy so there wasn't much atmosphere.

On a Saturday evening only two tables occupied in an otherwise empty restaurant. The chairs are already stacked on the terrace, very uncomfortable. The large windows haven't been washed in a while and there are half-dead plants on the windowsill. There are two fruit machines near the stairs to the toilet (why?). The waitress does not speak Dutch and explains that the menu on the website is no longer up to date. We both discover that we are given different menus. Mistake! The food ordered (steak tartare and hamburger) comes quite quickly and is tasty, but is not in proportion to the price (29 and 26 euros). The portions are far too large, there is no room for dessert. We are now the last guests in the entire place. They won't see us here again!

Cozy place, friendly service and delicious food. Some nicer and more creative dishes than you encounter at the average brasserie. Points of attention in my opinion are that the reception was a bit messy. There seemed to be only one person who knew where you could sit with a reservation, but if that person is busy you will be waiting in the middle of the place for 5 minutes. Furthermore, it was sometimes just a bit too salty for my personal taste, such as the asparagus soup and the canneloni. Now I have to say that I generally eat little to no salt. Furthermore, the service is attentive and we would definitely recommend it!

We ordered the special IFFD menu. My wife had 3 courses, I chose 4 courses. That went wrong, we both got the 4 course menu. Utmost confusion, after discussion: “we had really ordered 3 and 4 courses.” Out of leniency we had to pay for 3 and 4 courses. The waiter was apparently practicing for the 4 day, because he walked by noticeably often, which was not pleasant. The food itself, with the exception of the main course, was of lower quality than we are used to at De Eenling. Given the increased price for the special IFFD menu, we thought the price/quality ratio was below par.

A good place for lunch. Delicious salad with hearty bread, quality-price ratio is good. I've been before and will definitely be back!

After the good reviews here and in a newspaper, we had some expectations of the Eenling. Unfortunately it was disappointing and there was little special about the dishes. The service was also not at the level that makes your evening special. Here I read that there would be a good selection of drinks, non-alcoholic cocktails, etc., but our waiter was apparently not aware of this. The place is nicely decorated and attractive, but the food lagged far behind. The main course was a piece of red gurnard with lots of peas and lentils with few distinctive preparation methods. The other dishes also left no impression. Hopefully we were just unlucky enough to be there on the wrong night because the potential is there.

Enjoyed lunch at this restaurant. Nicely decorated with comfortable furniture. Very quiet for a Saturday afternoon (we arrived just after lunchtime). Service in English... but nowadays you are no longer surprised by that. Excellent food, homemade bread is delicious, you notice the quality. Just lift the bread, it is much heavier than a slice of supermarket bread. Croquettes also home-made (?). In any case, filled with delicious smelling and tasting beef. Then you forget about the slightly over-fried outside. Egg and chorizo ​​sandwich spicy and tasty. Limited choice of beers, not all advertised beers on tap, shame wanted to try something. The beer you chose was fine (see the photo for brand), coffee with separately boiled milk (so you can determine the strength yourself) fine, nice and strong. Will try dinner soon.

We come here for bruch we love the eggs benedict and omelette. We would definitely come again to try other options on the menu. We also love their big creamy cappuccino. Very beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor sittings.

3 course chef's menu. To start off, the chef knows what he is doing, every item on the plate is packed with flavor! Every item compliments the other... Well thought over menu, excellent preparation, simply delicious. Staff is very friendly with good knowledge of the menu and wines. Atmosphere was laid back, nice music and location. I had a table at the windows, and had a wonderfull view of people in the restaurant as well as passing by. Would definitely recommend.

The Loner actually deserves a -1 star. Upon entering we were greeted by a babbling man who immediately walked away and instructed another man to set our table. We had made a reservation, but apparently not everyone was aware of that. The man who served us did not speak Dutch and this meant that we were forced to communicate in English. The wine was served in very small quantities, the tap water had to be paid for, the lettuce for 5 menus was in 1 container and the meat you had to look for with a magnifying glass, the coffee was cold and the bill was much too high! It was a mockery! No, I won't come here anymore, this is downright bad!

Had dinner at De Eenling on Saturday evening. Vol-au-vent as a starter was very successful, beautifully made, good taste. Venison leg with red cabbage, medlar and potato mousseline as a main course, also a beautiful dish. Service a bit stiff. What struck me here, the wine glasses are small, especially the white wine glasses, narrow and empty after a few sips. Advice: give just a little more in the glass for €6-€6.50. We were also not asked if we wanted to see the wine list. You might be better off ordering a bottle of wine here.

Wanted to drink a cappuccino outside. Although everything was nicely arranged on the terrace, "we do not serve coffee on the terrace". Then go inside. Never had a worse cappuccino. And that for 4.50 euros. Shame!!

Full of anticipation, following a review in Volkskrant, to De Eenling. It would take too long to explain everything, but it seemed like a surreal film in terms of the controls. Coq au Vin was mediocre, the fries ordered as extra were dark but not crispy, and the prices were very high, especially considering the quality. Shame.

Kerstdiner bij De Eenling en heerlijk 7 gangen menu met half wijn-arrangement! Bewijst weer dat je hier gewoon chefs- menu moet nemen want het was weer vol heerlijke verrassingen. Ik vond vooral de tarbot in rode wijnsaus, met schorseneer en de eendenlever met ossenstaart met mispel en kroot super lekker, maar de andere gangen waren ook gewoon heerlijk genieten. Altijd een feestje om hier te eten!

Op eerste Kerstdag van een heerlijk smaakvol en verrassend kerstmenu genoten. De keuken, de bediening, de ambiance, alleen maar lof! Zeer aan te raden, meer verklap ik niet.

De coq au vin was erg vet. De wijn was niet te proeven, het geheel was een beetje vlak. De paddenstoelen gratin was ook vlak. Naar verhouding waren deze hoofdgerechten veel te duur. De toetjes waren heerlijķ, cheesecake, tartelette. De bediening is uitstekend.

Heerlijk gegeten in een ruim en licht restaurant / brasserie. Informele sfeer met prima bediening die voldoende aandacht heeft voor de gasten zonder opdringerig te zijn. Zowel het vergetarische menu als dat met vees/vis waren gewoon prima. Een aanwinst voor Schiedam !!

Zaterdag 9 december, wederom erg genoten van het 4 gangen diner. Het was vol, de sfeer goed en gezellig. Het eten is altijd weer een verrassing, gerechten die je niet kent, die je thuis nooit zal maken/bedenken maar die je wel blij maken. De medewerkers rustig, prettig en gezellig. Wederom een fijne avond.

Op een mooie locatie, goed te bereiken. Gezellige, sfeervolle zaak, ook op een winterse dag in december. Leuk om hier te borrelen met een hapje erbij. We komen hier zo nu en dan als we in de buurt zijn en tot nu toe was het altijd dik om orde. Aardig personeel.

We moesten op tijd naar een voorstelling - daar werd goed rekening meegehouden. Fijne sfeer, lekker eten en goede bediening.

Na een recensie in de Volkskrant, vol verwachting naar De Eenling. Dat viel helaas tegen. Voorgerechten redelijk. De hoofdgerechten misten diepgang, vlak van smaak. Het chocolade taartje, niet warm!, leek kant en klaar ingekocht... Bij het dessert proefden wij geen rum in het cocoladetaartje, bij navraag bleek de rum nu in het ijs te zitten en waar de rozijnen waren?

Zeer smaakvolle gerechten, met zorg gepresenteerd. Niet goedkoop maar goede kwaliteit !

Kleine kaart maar met aandacht bereidt

Soms heb je gewoon geluk. Was hier nog nooit geweest, kwamen gewoon aanwaaien. Binnen 15 minuten tafeltje. We hadden beiden de entrecote met friet en salade. Simpel, maar heel lekker. Vlees was top, heel mals, mooi gecarameliseerd, goeie dikke frieten erbij. Plus een vriendelijke correcte bediening. Kortom; dit is een aanrader. En gewoon in Schiedam hè, mooi!

Het nieuwe interieur is echt een enorme verbetering. Nu zit je op heerlijke stoelen en aan een goede tafel. De bediening hier is eigenlijk altijd goed en attent. Ik bestel hier bijna altijd de vegetarische optie omdat Marnix een echte tovenaar is op dat gebied. Verrassende producten, goede smaak en verrassende structuur waardoor het echt een culinaire belevenis is. Top!
