It was supposed to open at noon, but it remained closed with no signs and no phone answering. Too bad, we went elsewhere.

If you're looking for a local dutch dining experience this is one of the best place you should go. Plus the owner is too friendly and accommodating to tourists and foreigners.

Had a very nice evening at this special restaurant. The food was delicious, both starter, main course and dessert. You really got value for your money. The atmosphere was good and the service very friendly. The owner is also very nice and nice that he came to have a chat. We will definitely come back, absolutely recommended!

Very disappointing and unprofessional experience. We arrived around 12.45 during Mill Day, sat outside, and had to wait 10 minutes for anyone to arrive. He placed something at another table, then ignored our hands to order a drink, and only arrived when it was pointed out to us by a manager. It then took 5 minutes until we got our drinks, and only after we had asked extra for them, the lunch menu. We had to wave to a server again to order lunch. We ended up having to wait an hour for our food from the point we arrived, and the food itself was also extremely disappointing. The attached photo shows an 'Angus Beef Burger', with half of bread and croquette. Simply put: that's not Angus beef. The burger was also not dressed at all and tasted disappointing. The cheese and bacon on it might as well not have been there, because you couldn't taste it anyway. Another person at our table ordered a ciabatta with cheese and received a roll with moist cheese. When all these points were pointed out when our server came to clear the table, the response was indifferent and insisted that it was Angus beef. If you still want to eat here, you at least know what not to order.

My husband, son, daughter-in-law and I were there this past week and it was one of the highlights of our trip! The food was fantastic (The beef melted in my mouth) and both the atmosphere and service were perfect. Bobby and John are delightful hosts and need to be commended for their superb restaurant. We walked around historic Schiedam prior to arriving and it is such a lovely town - the whole experience was exactly what we were hoping for on our visit to the Netherlands. (I had just posted this review on another format and decided that I should post it on Trip Advisor, too - hope that's ok!)

We had a very good meal at De Noordmolen. This restaurant specializes in fish dishes, although the menu is more extensive. The fish is delicious and the advice for a matching wine is also excellent. Atmosphere is good, a bit busy, but very cozy and authentic.

Very good service and food quality is great. Highly recommended to dine in this restaurant. Thank you guys for the superb service. Continue to do the best.

Good service and good food at a reasonable price

Very tasty food. Nice to be able to eat inside a mill. Not a lot of choice, but very nice and tasty. We sat at the bar and that was a bit annoying because everyone who had to go to the toilet passed our table. There was also some arguing between the staff and we heard that very well. Nice location.

Had dinner here yesterday. Food is fresh, not excessive and very tasty. Very friendly service in an attractive environment! We will definitely come back

Eating in a mill with excellent food, we had a fixed 5 course Christmas dinner which was tasty but not worth the price wmb, the service leaves something to be desired, your food is put on the table and you enjoy your meal without any explanation about the contents of your meal. plate and people don't listen to you well, and in my opinion it was too loud while eating, this was our last time here

Well organized restaurant. Fast service despite crowds due to several groups. Food of exceptionally good quality. Wines also fine. In short, highly recommended.

Good food, nice and pleasant service, chatted with the staff and other guests for a while. Nice establishment. Terrace outside. The restaurant is up an (easy) flight of stairs. Outdoors in the summer is definitely a good option. We are not from Schiedam, but it is certainly worth repeating on our next visit to the city.

Ate here yesterday with a colleague. I looked at the (quite pricey) menu in advance, which created high expectations. Upon entering, I could not suppress a typical Dutch "pancake hut feeling" because of the somewhat robust wooden interior and the plastic placemates (with the story of the mill on them). I also noticed that there was a toilet-like smell. You can choose between à la carte or the three-course menu. We opted for à la carte. My colleague and I both chose the salmon palette as a starter which was nice. Then the stewed cod for my colleague and the angus burger for me. I cannot speak for my colleague, but the Angus burger for 19.50 was no more than okay. The inside is 'weird' which is not a problem for me personally, but I think it would be good to ask the guests how they want the hamburger cooked. In the end the food was not so bad to immediately complain about, but if all dishes have the same price-quality ratio then my conclusion is that this is to make tourists eat in a mill and make a profit because it is simply expensive. The service could only be described as unusual, but this could also have been the result of a number of very noisy (shouting) groups who were apparently busy with some kind of company outing (treasure hunt?) where drinking as much as possible was encouraged. But ultimately no reason to complain about it. That reason came a little later when I got home. I was busy all night with a box of Rennie and spent more time awake than sleeping, even though I'm not very sensitive to these kinds of things. In any case, the conclusion for me is: once, but never again. For others I would say: think carefully before you eat here.

Heerlijk gegeten en gedronken. Mooie locatie met heerlijk eten en goede bediening. Zowel voor-, hoofd- als nagerecht smaakte erg goed!!

Service not so friendly… at first it was moderately friendly, but when we left it was not so friendly. The seats where we were told to sit were dirty with dust and bruises. We were not told that there were chairs for children, but upon asking we were told that there were and we requested one; Just as we were not made aware that it was possible to prepare something for my little daughter to eat, since there was nothing specifically designed for children on the menu. On their page it says that there is free wifi, but this was not the case and we were not given the password. The food tasted good, although it was nothing extraordinary. We are not sure yet if we will go again, because the food was good, but the treatment we received did not make us feel welcome or like staying there longer than necessary to finish the meal.

Special location with simple food and excellent service. Difficult to reach because it is in the middle of the city center.

Good service and atmosphere. Good quality food, but nothing unordinary. Mediocre selections in wine card. It is one of the best options if you are in Schiedam and don't want to drive to Rotterdam for eating. It is an original idea to eat inside a wind mill.

Atmospheric place, beautifully and comfortably furnished restaurant inside the mill. We ordered two daily specials and liked both.

Brasserie style with fine dishes (Bisque, Carpaccio, Rib-eye, Tuna steak and cheese board) with a nice bottle of wine (Pouilly Fumé) in a cozy environment with a very friendly owner/host. All that for a very acceptable price in an old mill. Recommended!

The restaurant is owned by an Asian man with very poor service, as if his family just died. The service was arrogant and unreasonable, I used the toilet for about 5 minutes and he asked me if I was there. I doubt he grew up in Asia and regularly eats food from toilets, very uneducated individual! I advise everyone not to eat in his restaurant and tell him to go back to his Asian country as soon as possible and act like a bedbug in the Netherlands!

We went to celebrate our anniversary and it was a nice experience. The restaurant is located inside a mill that is very well preserved and has been decorated very well. We loved the food, both the menu and the separate dish included good portions. Additionally, the service was fast, and they are very friendly. Thank you, we will be back soon! Paola & Frank

We came for lunch after seeing there was a small (and quick) lunch menu on their website. We were in a hurry, so we thought this would be perfect. When we got there, only a three-course set menu was available. We double-checked outside the restaurant and indeed, the menu posted by the door was the three-course set menu. We figured the website was outdated and ended up ordering the set... then a local couple came in and received a different menu from which they ordered two small sandwiches. Obviously, they got the lunch menu we saw online. You can imagine how annoyed we were. Not only did we pay way more than we wanted to, but we felt like we had fallen victim to a bait-and-switch scam and been taken advantage of. Not impressed.

Delicious food at the Noordmolen in Schiedam! What an attractive restaurant! The staff knows what real hospitality is and that, together with the delicious food, made our evening a true experience! This restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

The staff is racist and borderline disrespectful. Who makes racist jokes about Islam and Ramadan when you politely ask them to serve the dish without pork? The steak still came with a bacon on the side, and instead of taking it back to the kitchen, the white guy waiter simply attacked us with passive aggression and removed bacon with my own fork and dirty napkin. With my own work experience in horeca of 8 years, this behaviour is simply UNACCEPTABLE!

Had a racist encounter, didn’t feel welcome

Pure racism and horrible service! I am utterly disgusted by the blatant racism and appalling behavior exhibited by the staff. First and foremost, upon receiving my main beef dish, I was shocked to find bacon on the plate despite it not being mentioned anywhere in the menu. When I politely requested for the bacon to be removed, the worker began laughing rudely in my face. It was beyond disrespectful. To make matters worse, he proceeded to clumsily use MY FORK to remove the bacon, then wiped the area with a DIRTY napkin as if it were some sort of joke. All this while coming much too close to me, almost breathing in my neck! His despicable behavior continued as he made insensitive remarks about Ramadan and Islam insulting me showcasing a complete lack of respect. Not only was the worker far too close for comfort, invading my personal space while attempting to rectify their mistake, but they also failed to take the plate to the back to properly address the issue. This level of negligence is unacceptable. As for the quality of the food, it was bad. The well-done steak I ordered arrived completely rare and bloody, a clear indication of incompetence in the kitchen. The fries were soaked in oil, rendering them practically inedible. To top it all off, the price of 120 euros for such a horrendous experience is downright insulting. I would strongly advise against dining there unless you enjoy being subjected to racism, incompetence, and poor quality food. Save your money and your dignity by taking your business elsewhere.

Sfeervolle plek en aardige vriendelijke bediening . De vis van het menu was ronduit slecht . Zeer dun en bijna taai leek gefrituurd . Zonde van de dorade filet . Ook relatief weinig groente dat zal ik de volgende keer meteen bijbestellen . Wel gemeld aan de bediening . De garnalen met peterselie en knoflook en de ribeye waren fantastisch

The service does its best, which gives the impression that it has to be done quickly, you can take your time, but the impression is created that there is a rush. The food is excellent.

What a wonderful place to eat. Food was super tasty. And the sauce with the salmon was so delicious that I asked for something extra and got it. Later, the gentleman who received the Ins said he had tried it too and thought it was great. Nice and fresh with just an hour left in it. Recommended to eat.

Excellent, fairly simple, quick to prepare food. Missing vegetables, with the fish 1 thin carrot, 3 snow peas and a little bit of fennel. Beautiful mill. Steep stairs, tables and toilets are upstairs.

If your company is good, things that aren't going well are often not noticeable. However, in the Noordmolen it does. The location is beautiful but the interior could use an update. This also applies to the food and service.

Lots of choice in dishes and still very good quality. The pork belly here is the best I've had. I will definitely come back for this alone. Service staff could be better. Not unfriendly but not very competent. Ordering drinks was slow and difficult. Even when asking questions, it was not possible to get drinks for the entire group.

We had a very nice time at Restaurant De Noordmolen. I went there with a group of people from work and even though we were in about 50 people, the service was really nice, attentive and polite. The food as well was really good, well serveded and tasteful!

This restaurant is really great! Today I ate here for the first time and I was surprised by what a great place this is! Not only the location is great but also the staff and the food. It doesn't happen very often that you get the chance to eat in a mill, but the fact that this is also accompanied by delicious food just makes it even more fun!

We’ve just eaten outdoors at this restaurant as it was a really warm evening. The food here was really special, we felt. We had mixed starters to share, and a desert each, and they were all very tasty, well prepared and presented, and we had excellent service. It felt fun and unusual to be dining at the world’s tallest historical windmill, by the side of a canal with views over the water.

An unique experience to dine in a windmill. Some walking required if you come via the metro. Overall the food was good, though it's on the more expensive side. Good for an experience. The owner Bobby is a Singaporean too 😀 and friendly service.

Food average. Service average. Not worth a return visit.

The good side: the food ordered was tasty, the steak even excellent. That said, the rest was downright bad. The bread was pre-baked bread from LIDL, and served really cold. the personnel was (with 1 exception) indifferent or annoying. Very noisy, with the table layout such that you could not go to the toilet without asking someone to get up so you could pass. And if I spend around €70 per person, I don't expect paper napkins and plastic underlays! Our bottle of water was also open upon arrival -- we can't prove it, but we strongly suspect it was just tap water in a reused branded bottle -- at least that's what the taste was like!

The food is really tasty, friendly personnel, love the interior. Great idea! We celebrated birthday there and loved it.

We were 7 to eat, first thing we asked was the menu but the waiter told us that they don't have one ( apparently they do, so he was lying). Then, we ordered 2 appetizer mix and he served us 4. Then, the only 3 meal he told us he had : the 3 most expensive one of course. And same for wine : we chose a bottle of wine we were 7 and he managed to finish the bottle at the fifth person : glass were full ... So at the end we were chocked to see the bill and after some research we are really unhappy to discover the restaurant fouled us like that. Never eat in this restaurant!!!!!

40 and a half years ago, I got married in this restaurant. We have now celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary there with children and grandchildren. It was festive, partly because of the staff. Still a nice restaurant to dine in.👍

As a tourist in Schiedam, this is an absolute hidden gem. We were entranced by the light emanating from the base of this cute windmill. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Would return in a heartbeat.

Very good food in a beautiful mill in the heart of Schiedam. The Sole fillet is highly recommended! Although it doesn't really matter, I think everything is nice here. This was the first time, but I will definitely be back.

A lovely end to our holiday. A delicious meal on the first floor of the tallest windmill in the world. The menu was original and had a few dishes not commonly seen. The wine was good but not pretentious or expensive. And the proprietor was friendly and helpful.

Ate here today. It's holiday time and Tuesday so it was quiet. Nevertheless, a nice view on the terrace where the sun was still shining. The food (fowl breast and rib eye) took no time at all and was wonderfully tender, of high quality and carefully prepared. Friendly chef who brought the food and the server was also a pleasant gentleman.

Lunch experience outside in the sun was great. Nice terrace around the mill and on the waterfront of the Noorvest. Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. A unique place to settle down.

I went here for an office dinner. Its a restaurant inside a windmill. Not much space inside but the ambience is nice and cozy. There are 3 level of sitting and space to sit outside too. Food was good. I tried salmon & steak. Not much options in beer. Hosts are quite friendly. Doesn’t give a feeling of windmill after you are inside but the place is beautifully decorated with windmill posters and models.
