- Mediocre ice cream at best - No labels on any of the 20+ flavors - Order machine is broken does not print out your order number, no way to know when your turn is (told them, said they are aware of it) - Laughable portion size. 1 scoop of ice cream same quantity as the 2 scoops, just because the employee was too bored to go back and properly fill the scoop when she barely grazed the ice cream tub the first time. Photo speaks for itself. That is a 10€ + order. Why are people lining up for this place? Just go to Jumbo and get a cone

Delicious ice cream, but unfortunately they are serving less and less of it lately. The balls are getting smaller and smaller - also on the Meent. It's a shame and strange that you are going to cut back on that; especially when an ice cream is so expensive :-/

Update: I was finally contacted with an apology after reminders from my end. Imagine having to follow up for something like this is really beneath my comprehension. Alas, I was reimbursed. Then I was asked to remove my review or update it because I was spreading false statements. The audacity to ask this is really WILD. ZERO self awareness and resolution is what I call this. A greedy cheap way to convey 'GOODWILL' with lack of customer building, retention and business acumen. I had to follow-up / send reminder/call - no response while they had the receipt and my contact info on the back of the receipt. And I was asked to provide receipt proof (which I took a pic of the receipt luckily). See how you get bamboozled then gaslighted with braveness then switched to a victim and ask for rectifying a review within one breath. Well done. I would say if you are going here, know that the moment you transaction goes thru the till /touchscreen. It is gone to the depths of the earth, because they do not reimburse/provide gift cards. Deplorable service. 27 March: NEVER go here. They will steal your money, don’t provide credit/receipt and despite call and email - do not reply. Expensive 5,40 eur of no ice cream. Ordering goes through touchscreen - machines were not showing correct amounts. I asked the assistants for help but had already paid (as I doublechecked with other machine) which she rebooted, when I asked for credit/voucher as at that point I couldn’t order anymore after waiting 10 minutes they don’t offer this as service. I explained, I did not live in Rotterdam and this is an expensive ice cream not to receive. She left a note for the owner/manager. I emailed 2x and called 1x and never received a response - this is three weeks ago. I prefer to support local small businesses but when they have deplorable service and zero responsibility / accountability and acknowledgement that is when you know you are dealing with people that don’t value customers. And as such I will go where my euro is valued and respected. Businesses like these are a disgrace to small businesses who already have it challenging. If you want to be bamboozled go to this ice shop. I’m back to Ben & Jerry’s and will avoid this place like the pest.

The best ice cream I've seen in a long time, easy to order at the terminal and lots of extras like special waffles etc. A little more expensive but definitely worth the price!

Even though we live in the South, we often get an ice cream here. Creamy ice cream and tasty flavors. The sorbet flavors also have a very soft texture, almost like ice cream. The downside is that on hot and busy days they don't seem to be able to keep up with production or cooling and the ice is sometimes a bit soft. Nevertheless, it remains very tasty. I think €5 for a cone with 2 scoops is (too) expensive!

Glacier with quality ice cream. Orders are placed at terminals. You have to follow the order on a screen. The number of staff is very small. We waited 30 mins for 2 tubs of ice cream. The ice creams are generous and artisanal. I recommend!

I usually get milkshakes here instead of ice cream because they really make killer shakes! Ice cream is also very good when I get ice cream I take cherry mania or grandma's apple pie really HDP :)

Delicious ice cream flavors, unfortunately with way too much sugar. Tried different flavors, but all way too sweet. Nice staff though. The music and ambient sounds, automatic ordering, plus all the video screens, makes it a very impersonal experience. Less suitable for highly sensitive people.

Very different than 2 years ago. You order your ice cream/scoops via a column, you can only see the flavors on a picture and you cannot add a scoop at the last minute. Your ordered ice cream will then be made from a receipt. Delicious ice cream, but the experience is no longer fun.

My first experience at De Ijsmaker on Witte de Withstraat. The weather was nice, Friday evening around eight o'clock, so there was a long line in front of the store. I was a bit worried that it would all take a long time, but it turned out surprisingly well. There was a reasonable flow, so I was outside again for about 10 minutes, with ice. The handy touchscreen displays also help with this. You were able to put together the ice cream in a convenient and clear manner. I opted for a cardboard container containing two scoops of ice cream (Nutella and straciatella) topped with whipped cream. The latter was also real whipped cream, not weak sprayed cream, but really creamy thick whipped cream. I thought the Nutella ice cream had the best taste. I thought the straciatella was a bit less, but certainly not bad. Maybe my combination wasn't great either, but I enjoyed it. Good experience. Today's good price-quality ratio. Five stars and worth repeating.

Summer 2024 2 scoops for €5 —— The ice-cream is tasty. I thought it was a little pricey. However, they do give you a very generous scoop. The ice-cream is on the softer side, so you have to eat it fast.

One of the best ice cream shops in Rotterdam. Love their yoghurt flavor! Also love that they have fun flavors like bueno and oreo:).

I'm very sorry, but our ice creams were not very tasty. Little taste, mango ice cream where you had to make an effort to recognize the mango, Straciatella with a tiny piece of chocolate here and there. No more ice cream for us here.

Very tasty ice cream! But ordering via a kiosk is not fun with children. They want to point it out in the display case. Strawberry and raspberry look very similar in a picture. Ice cream is also very expensive, but that is just an opinion. I think I even had to pay for the cardboard/container.

De IJsmaker in witte de withstraat is a stylish and affordable ice cream shop in a well laid-out space. The scoop of cookie ice cream we had was delicious and rich, served in an edible cone cup that minimizes waste. The ordering screens made the process smooth and painless. While the ice cream itself was fantastic, a more generous scoop would have been appreciated. Overall, the visit was highly enjoyable, with the added bonus of vegan sorbets and an environmentally conscious approach.

What a crappy tent. The order screen did not work. Also missing was a flavor on screen. Let's line up neatly. We are simply sent away again to stand in line again. No one can help you as normally as humanly. Worthless.

In one day the price was increased for almost 100%! Some sun has peaked out and it got a bit warmer and my icecream costs 2,30 instead of 1,30! Insane

Digital order system confusing and time consuming, icecream was ok but way overprized

We walked past it a few times, there was a queue at all times of the day and the store was full. What surprised us was that there were other ice cream parlors. But after we tried the ice cream, we knew why. It really is better!

Unfortunately, the quality of the ice creams has deteriorated. Price/quality ratio is no longer correct. Ordering system does not work well, staff seems frustrated because people are not coming to get the ice cream, busy in the store and it looks very chaotic and warm.

Friends order 3 scoops and get a whole cup full, over the top, if I order 5 scoops, I get less than the cup full, isn't it a bit strange? This is because mine was handled by another employee, but I do feel ripped off... Other parties can learn from the rest of the fast vending machines and tasty ice creams.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience today at De IJsmaker, which I visit quite often. The scoops of ice cream were put on top and the ice cream was already melting when the lady put it on the cone. She saw that the ice cream was sliding off on one side, but go ahead... put whipped cream on it and just give it to the customer. Once in my hand, the ice cream started to leak and the lady saw it and looked away. The ice cream didn't seem properly chilled. The chocolate rim with nuts around the cone had also already melted. This can of course happen, but as a salesperson, don't look away. Next time I will speak to the lady! I don't mind paying €6.50, but I do want a good product.

The day we visited the IJsmaker the weather was unexpectedly very nice and the queue/waiting time didn't seem too bad. I personally found the ordering screens quite useful. I don't necessarily look at what the ice cream looks like to order. Because experience has taught me that what the ice cream looks like says nothing about the taste. But I can understand that others think that detracts from the experience. I really enjoyed discovering all the options myself while ordering via the screen and therefore chose to put chocolate in my waffle container and so did my daughter. The flavors were diverse, but I went for my go-to flavor pistachio and my daughter went for the yoghurt cherry and kitkat. We ended up waiting 10 to 15 minutes for our ice cream, but the work was not very efficient. Everything was made ice cream by ice cream one after the other and also had to be picked up in between. It would be more efficient to have a section in the display case where you can leave the ice cream cold for a while while you finish the rest of the order. The flavor of the ice cream was okay but not the best I've ever tasted. The chocolate in the waffle tray was tasty but at one point too much for me. My daughter had the accident that a pigeon pooped on her ice cream, so it managed to eat my bowl. All in all an okay experience but not my favorite ice cream shop in terms of flavors. I will come back to try other flavors.

We had to wait for 15 (!!) minutes until we received our order, and the order had to be corrected as well as it didn’t go right the first time. Saw this was the a very popular place with lots of people going in and out. My group and I were walking past and saw this looked really nice so we ended up going. Really easy, you just order on the kiosk then pick up your ice cream at the counter. The ice cream was great the first time and I have been back two other times. Everything went well except for once when they gave me Stracciatella instead of Oreo. Overall it seems like the go to for ice cream in Rotterdam.

Average ice cream; we had to pay extra for pistachio ice cream but the nuts unfortunately, were stale. The “choco dip” was some very sweet melted chocolate drizzle on top and not a crunchy shell that I expected (based on the name). Sadly, it was pricey for the quality you get.

I had pistachio and salted caramel Ice cream and it was really good. I haven't had a good pistachio ice cream in a while, and this made my belly really happy. I like the fact that you can order ahead and then just watch them while preparing your order. The staff is very kind and respectful, and the place is really clean.

Various vegan options that go beyond the standard sorbet flavors. Even even offer various vegan cones! I highly recommend the bounty ice cream. It is always very busy and ordering though a screen may not be the most romantic ice cream experience, but service is quick and your options are very clear, so I don’t see this as a problem :)
