What delicious ice cream! What huge scoops! What a delicious affogato! Ordering through the kiosks went smoothly, and despite the crowds, we had our ice cream in our hands within 5 minutes. The staff is friendly and hardworking, and the selection is enormous!

I'm not happy with this ice cream parlor. When you order a drink, it's filled with ice cubes, right up to the top! See the photo. You even get a straw, which is excessive for such a small amount. Two sips and it's gone. A real waste of money. The ice cream is good, though, which is why I'm giving it two stars. But even there, the scoops are small. For the price, you expect more. I certainly won't be returning. Deeply disappointed.

Amazing ice cream shop that is so central! The self order style eliminates the cluster around the ice cream flavours and trying samples. The staff are quick and friendly! The ice cream itself was delicious and great serving size. Great outside seating area for an evening sweet treat.

There's a worm in the whipped cream. The manager has the day off, and no one can do anything, and they don't speak Dutch. Worthless and disgusting. And after finding a live worm in the whipped cream, they just keep serving as if nothing happened.

Hello, I went to the ice cream parlor on August 8th at 7:34 PM on Witte de Witstraat. I saw a woman eating ice cream with a popsicle stick and then putting it back in the container a second time, as far as I could see, to take another bite. Unfortunately, I had a baby with me and it was very busy, so I couldn't say anything about it... but it did stick, so I wanted to report it... not really the way employees should eat ice cream. Fine if they want to, but do it properly in a container without sharing saliva with others. My husband paid at 7:34 PM, and this happened just before, near the entrance. Hygiene isn't really taken seriously by employees.

Very tasty ice cream and a huge selection!!!

Came here to get ice cream, but got the tiniest scoop of ice cream and the whipped cream that I ordered wasn’t even visible. Thought the machine was broken or something but they just gave it to me as if in the hope I wouldn’t say something about it I think. Wasn’t happy about the tiniest scoop of ice cream, but went back for the whipped cream only, I got my whipped cream in the end but also not much and didn’t even get the cookie with it that was supposed to be on top. The weird thing is the other person scooped normal amounts of ice cream and also put a nice amount of whipped cream on top + a cookie. Anyways, not a nice experience, for the amount of money you’re paying right now I would’ve expected at least good service and a good amount of everything. Do something about it!

Super cute, modern, clean and really fun options. It's gimmicky but in a great way. The icecream was delicious. We had a cone and a shake and both had so many customizations. Will definitely come back with friends. (Super niche but if anyone is from upstate NY and misses Stewart's ice cream the Lion flavor tastes just like crumbs along the mohawk)

As an Italian, I can say this gelato isn't anything special. Decent creaminess. Too many flavors, flat, and a bit chemically-based. The McDonald's-style vending machines are excellent.

We visited De IJsmaker on two consecutive days – and we were delighted both times! Ordering is straightforward, and the service is friendly and fast. We were particularly impressed by the size of the ice cream scoops – you really get value for your money. The pistachio ice cream was our highlight: super creamy, with real, large pieces of pistachios – you immediately taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The other flavors we tried were also delicious. The ice cream parlor is centrally located, comfortably furnished, and has a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere – perfect for a break from a stroll through the city. We highly recommend De IJsmaker and will definitely stop by again on our next visit to Rotterdam!

Over 30 different flavors of ice cream! Perfect! They all look great! But there's no room for us to eat inside!

Went for a quick visit today after visiting the Maritime Museum. They have a great selection of ice cream flavors and the staff is very friendly. It's €2.70 per scoop, and the flavors are delicious. Definitely worth a visit, and kudos to the young staff, the ladies, who can identify so many ice cream flavors without the need for name tags!

It's always incredibly busy outside, but apparently, many people have no taste. I, a true connoisseur, have often tasted better ice cream with a creamier texture in my life. Furthermore, the banana flavor was sold out on two different occasions when I was there. Edit: The owner's response with a laughing emoji shows a certain arrogance. A fake ice cream parlor with no substance, pure marketing.

It's such a shame you can't just buy an ice cream anymore; the use of those ordering screens ruins the whole experience. I can understand that it's convenient when it's busy and it's an option, but even when the place is empty, you can't order directly from a person. This is reason enough for us to walk 15 minutes to Meent and order directly from a person at the ice cream parlor.

There was a line outside, and they've got it very well organized. Creamy, tasty, and very aromatic ice cream. They also serve it in a cone-shaped casserole dish for €0.15. Passion fruit, cherry, pistachio, salted caramel... spectacular and well-priced for where they are.

The flavor selection is quite wide. Service was really quick and really easy

We arrived at 10:50 PM to order an affogato (coffee with ice cream). We didn't see this option on the order display, so we asked a staff member why it wasn't available. She consulted her female colleague, who, sighing and with a visibly irritated expression, indicated that the coffee machine had already been cleaned. Even though we were there before closing time, our order was grudgingly accepted and processed without any hint of customer service. The attitude was downright unwelcoming and unprofessional. Extremely friendly personel and excellent quality. The Spanish lady today gave a small tour to our kids showing them how ice-cream is made. Amazing experience having ice-cream at this place.

it's delicious ice cream and the scoops are a good size but what's not okay is that there is no air conditioning (or it wasn't on). not for the customers but certainly not for the staff. it was >30 degrees today and it was warmer inside the store than outside. it's not nice to have to work in such a stuffy space all the time. if necessary, put down fans edit: thanks for the response. i understand that it's technically complicated for air conditioners. still, i want to emphasize that my friends and i saw the staff sweating, so better fans behind the display case wouldn't be a bad investment. the fact that it's not often that warm in the netherlands doesn't mean that it has to be unpleasant for staff on the days that it is. it was certainly not meant as an attack but more as a point that can hopefully be looked into.

We come here 2/3 times a week in the summer. Always experienced as good, until today I walk outside with my milkshake and it fell out of my hand. Probably the lid was not on properly. So I walk back and pass it on to the employee and ask if I can get a new one. That was not possible because it was my own fault, they said. So I did not agree with that and asked if I could speak to the manager. I explained the situation again and with great difficulty a new milkshake could be made. Ridiculous that they make things difficult when they ask €2.70 for a scoop.

You do have to queue on a summer evening, but then you get something. The choice is huge when it comes to ice cream flavours. The only point for improvement is hygiene. My waffle container was put on the dirty counter. It would be better if the ice cream was indicated or put on a piece of paper.

I tried the mango and it was awesome. Tip: Take it in a cup, because the biscuit will melt the ice cream in the heat and then it will crush you 😂

Very good ice cream. The yogurt and lemon are highly recommended. Orders are made via touchscreen machines and card payments. There are a few benches in front for seating.

Yum! Lots of flavours and the automated ordering makes ordering hassle free. No lines either, despite having tons of people outside eating! I found the stracciatella a bit underwhelming, but I would go back to try something else.

Slow employees and had to wait in line for half an hour, in addition there are also employees who don't even understand what they are doing. Prices are also absurdly high. Really bad business.

My personal view is that it feels very impersonal in this shop. Everything is focused on quick handling and that can of course be nice for people who want to have their ice cream in their hands quickly. Furthermore, it is the most expensive ice cream shop I know. I compare the yoghurt ice cream everywhere I go and I find it mediocre there

The ice cream wasn't very good the strawberry tasted like vanilla, the ordering machine was broken. I ordered other flavors and got Other and the ladies selling didn't even want to exchange them very rude service

Stars are for the ice cream, which is very good. The staff are all very pleasant and friendly -- even the young man who kept wiping his nose with the back of his hand and running his fingers through his hair, serving ice cream all the while. Basic hygiene, folks. It is very important. The staff should know this of course but management should orient them on this key issue.

A huge ice cream parlor right in the middle of Rotterdam Central. Huge selection of ice creams. You can order the ice cream at the kiosk and wait for your number to be called out, a very convenient way of ordering ice cream. I tried the stroofwafel ice cream and it was good. Service was quick. There was a quite some crowd when I visited the store.

Great system of ordering separately (giving you time to see the options and pick). Some lovely Dutch flavours too (stroopwafelijs!)

Photo speaks for itself. That is a 10€ + order. Why are people lining up for this place? Just go to Jumbo and get a cone

Delicious ice cream, but unfortunately they are serving less and less of it lately. The balls are getting smaller and smaller - also on the Meent. It's a shame and strange that you are going to cut back on that; especially when an ice cream is so expensive :-/

Update: I was finally contacted with an apology after reminders from my end. Imagine having to follow up for something like this is really beneath my comprehension. Alas, I was reimbursed. Then I was asked to remove my review or update it because I was spreading false statements. The audacity to ask this is really WILD. ZERO self awareness and resolution is what I call this. A greedy cheap way to convey 'GOODWILL' with lack of customer building, retention and business acumen. I had to follow-up / send reminder/call - no response while they had the receipt and my contact info on the back of the receipt. And I was asked to provide receipt proof (which I took a pic of the receipt luckily). See how you get bamboozled then gaslighted with braveness then switched to a victim and ask for rectifying a review within one breath. Well done. I would say if you are going here, know that the moment you transaction goes thru the till /touchscreen. It is gone to the depths of the earth, because they do not reimburse/provide gift cards. Deplorable service. 27 March: NEVER go here. They will steal your money, don’t provide credit/receipt and despite call and email - do not reply. Expensive 5,40 eur of no ice cream. Ordering goes through touchscreen - machines were not showing correct amounts. I asked the assistants for help but had already paid (as I doublechecked with other machine) which she rebooted, when I asked for credit/voucher as at that point I couldn’t order anymore after waiting 10 minutes they don’t offer this as service. I explained, I did not live in Rotterdam and this is an expensive ice cream not to receive. She left a note for the owner/manager. I emailed 2x and called 1x and never received a response - this is three weeks ago. I prefer to support local small businesses but when they have deplorable service and zero responsibility / accountability and acknowledgement that is when you know you are dealing with people that don’t value customers. And as such I will go where my euro is valued and respected. Businesses like these are a disgrace to small businesses who already have it challenging. If you want to be bamboozled go to this ice shop. I’m back to Ben & Jerry’s and will avoid this place like the pest.

Even though we live in the South, we often get an ice cream here. Creamy ice cream and tasty flavors. The sorbet flavors also have a very soft texture, almost like ice cream. The downside is that on hot and busy days they don't seem to be able to keep up with production or cooling and the ice is sometimes a bit soft. Nevertheless, it remains very tasty. I think €5 for a cone with 2 scoops is (too) expensive!

Glacier with quality ice cream. Orders are placed at terminals. You have to follow the order on a screen. The number of staff is very small. We waited 30 mins for 2 tubs of ice cream. The ice creams are generous and artisanal. I recommend!

I usually get milkshakes here instead of ice cream because they really make killer shakes! Ice cream is also very good when I get ice cream I take cherry mania or grandma's apple pie really HDP :)

Delicious ice cream flavors, unfortunately with way too much sugar. Tried different flavors, but all way too sweet. Nice staff though. The music and ambient sounds, automatic ordering, plus all the video screens, makes it a very impersonal experience. Less suitable for highly sensitive people.
