The new edible spoons leave a nasty aftertaste. After asking for wooden spoons, I was able to taste my ice cream again. I strongly recommend changing the edible spoons. At first, I thought it was the pistachio ice cream. That you might have a new pistachio supplier. But when I switched to the blueberry, the unnatural taste lingered. It turned out to be the edible sticks. Thankfully. Unfortunately, I only enjoyed the small amount of ice cream at the end. The first part was just sour. Luckily, I knew what was going on, because I'm a long-time ice cream lover and I come here often.

The best ice cream in Europe, vanilla is number one in my opinion... A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, I definitely recommend it.

I honestly didn’t understand what was so special about this ice cream. I couldn’t get much flavor from either the strawberry or the chocolate — almost no taste at all. The outdoor seating area is nice to have, and the prices are reasonable. Service was fine, but the ice cream itself didn’t meet my expectations.

The gelato was beautifully presented, and this is coming from someone who eats gelato no more than four times a year. It was good, and the staff was friendly.

I saw a man passing by eating a large ice cream with gusto, and I thought it would be nice, so I discovered this shop. The combination of rum raisins and yogurt was a bit of a challenge, but it was delicious. I want to come back tomorrow before leaving Rotterdam.

We've become quite spoiled with good ice cream parlors. De Meent was one of them. Unfortunately, the scoops (€2.25 and whipped cream €1.00) were nowhere as meager and frugal as in Rotterdam. Furthermore, the raspberry sorbet was tasteless. Hence, one star.

As a true connoisseur, I can say that this ice cream is top-notch, both in terms of taste and creamy, soft texture. The shop is well-maintained, and you're served by friendly staff instead of a touchscreen. A previous review mentioned that the scoops were too small. Madam, if it's not enough for you and too expensive, you should just get a tub of ice cream from the supermarket, which is just around the corner. Pure nonsense. I'm glad I finally found a delicious ice cream in Rotterdam again, because many people are easily satisfied with junk, and that's quite misleading. Here you get quality.

For a single scoop of ice cream, you'd expect a normal scoop. You get a small scoop in a small container, and that costs over €2. They scoop the scoop too sparingly, or probably don't have the strength to make it into a large scoop.

Today I went to the ice cream parlor in Rotterdam Meent, but unfortunately the experience was far from pleasant. The lady behind the counter was downright grumpy and clearly had little desire to help customers in a friendly way. No smile, no patience, and as if you were bothering her with your order. Too bad, because the ice cream itself is fine — but such an attitude spoils the whole atmosphere. Customer friendliness could really be better at this location.

Very delicious ice cream. The Pure Chocolate sorbet is amazingly made. The chocolate taste is very rich. The fruit flavors of mango, lemon and passion fruit are very rich. The pistachio flavor is roasted pistachios and has intact pistachios. You can choose the topping with cream.

I have a gluten allergy and this place is known for serving gluten-free ice cream. I was helped very unfriendly by a girl who refused to help me 'gluten-free'. She almost started screaming that I couldn't get what I wanted. Very bad to treat your customers this way.

Beautiful ice cream parlor with an extensive range. Tried the pistachio, hazelnut and Bastogne buns and they were very tasty. If you are in the area and fancy ice cream, this is definitely recommended. You can also sit quietly both inside and outside.

Very popular ice cream cone. Not bad ice cream, but cannot be compared to a good Gelateria in Italy. Hef would be useful to put the flavors on the wall. You can already weigh in the queue instead of when it's your turn.

Tastiest pistachio ice cream in the area! But... never been treated so unkindly. Extremely grumpy, didn't look at us and didn't say a single word (not even that we could pin). Not the first time this has happened here. I hope they do something about it. We had to wait in line for a long time (30 minutes), but then you got really tasty ice cream!

One of my favorite Ice Cream pick of Rotterdam. Location is great since it’s totally in the middle of the city, convenient for take an Ice Cream away on the road for fresh mood booster. I loved a coffee flavor(I guess it was Cappuccino) had sweetness and deep coffee taste together. They also have coffee bar on the side, so both can be taken at the same spot. Loved my sweet experience here.

Beautiful summer evening. We see a long line at the Ice Cream Parlour, so we thought it must be delicious. Don't get me wrong, it is tasty, but in my opinion too much sugar and not enough real flavor. Compared to ice cream from Luciano ice cream parlour, Luciano is definitely tastier. Only later did I understand why the trash can in front of the ice cream parlor contained all kinds of leftover cones and bowls of ice cream 🤔 pretty good ice cream, but just a little too much sugar for me.

In short just WOW! The variation of flavors, the taste. It was just incredible, I don’t have any other words for it. My friend wanted to show me his usual ice cream place and I am REALLY happy he did. I tried the flavors: “Cappuccino, Zure matten, Oma’s appeltaart and stroopwafels”. The flavors were spot on, the prices are definitely according to the quality of the product. I’m pretty speechless about how good this was, the only unfortunate thing is that I don’t live near this place. If you want to eat some Italian quality ice cream THIS is the place to do so! Great on a nice warm day to cool off a bit. 5/5 even a 10/5 if I could’ve. 1000% recommended if you’re still hesitant of visiting!

These place gets so busy - every time we walked past there were queues out of the door. The ice cream is definitely worth it and there are self service machines to help lessen the wait. I had a chocolate dipped waffle cone with pistachio & stroop waffle scoops and it was SO GOOD. Good amount of outdoor seating & a couple of spots inside too. Highly recommend.

The line was quite long but thankfully the service was pretty quick. My top flavours are pistachio (with the nuts!), hazelnut, and Stracciatella.

Tried De Ijssalon, a gelato ice cream shop in a prime and strategic location in Meent, Rotterdam. We sampled several flavors: vanilla, caramel, and chocolate. Overall, i think this is one of the best gelato shops I've encountered in the Netherlands. The flavors are rich and authentic, with a thick, creamy texture that stands out. There’s no hint of artificial ingredients or excessive sugar—just perfectly balanced taste that highlights the quality of the ingredients used. The shop itself is beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. They also offer outdoor seating, allowing you to savor your ice cream while enjoying the bustling surroundings if the weather is good (i.e. a real treat in the Netherlands!). It's the perfect spot for a delightful gelato experience. Highly recommended for any ice cream enthusiast.

It's best to stay seated while eating your ice cream... so don't drive or cross the road or anything... seriously! I was enjoying my pistachio ice cream... my car was parked in front of the ice cream parlour,,, I still thought: "my god, that ice cream is so good". Best ice cream in Rotterdam? I was looking for a good ice cream parlor in Rotterdam. Two then stood out; ice cream parlor venezia and De IJssalon. I first went for an ice cream at Venezia. It was a nice ice cream but otherwise nothing special. Then I went to get an ice cream at the ice cream shop. And how delicious this ice cream was! Lots of choices of flavors and creamy ice cream. If you are looking for delicious ice cream in Rotterdam you should definitely go here. I think this is the best!

What should you do when you sell the best ice cream from the region...I say collect it...and they do that to a large extent...I rarely get an ice cream here because when the season is....warm to hot weather....you have lines that give you the feeling that you are trying to enter the Kuip when they have to close at 020....if it is manageable and we get an ice cream at that time it is a party... also for coffee and the like.... they now also seem to have a small branch in the Markthal....

Unfortunately this was a bit of a letdown. After frequently going to and enjoying the Ijssalon on the West-Kruiskade I was flabbergasted when I went here. Why are the tables so dirty? Why does the coffee taste so bad? Ice cream is okay, but wow that coffee really left a horrible taste in my mouth.

Sehr central gelegene Eisdiele mit guten Eissorten. Die Pistaziensorte mit Pistazienstückchen finde ich besonders lecker, aber auch Joghurt, Mango, und Himbeeren, die schmecken einfach himmlisch 🤤 Bei 30 Grad Celcius die perfekte Abkühlung. Die Preise sind m.E. etwas hoch, 1 Kugeleis kostet 1,95€ (für Pistazien +0,60€), ein Besuch ist es trotzdem wert. Und die Bedienung ist nett.
