De IJssalon in Rotterdam Centrum

A bit stingy scooping a decent ball for 2.50. Pistachio ice cream was 50 cents extra with a voucher for 2 scoops. Absurd.

Delicious ice cream. A very large selection. I recommend it 💛

Delicious ice cream at a good price. Communication was difficult because they don't speak English, even though the names of the ice creams are pronounced the same.

The staff were very friendly. Although I’m not a huge fan of ice cream, I decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did—it was absolutely delicious. It’s a lovely place that I would definitely visit again. However, the seating area outside is quite limited, so finding somewhere to sit while enjoying your ice cream can be difficult.

The variety is not great but the taste and quality is perfect 👌 The hazelnut and pistachio flavors are the best because they have whole nuts inside. I try the affogato with hazelnut every time 🤤

Super friendly, Desree is a star. 5 stars for you.

The ice cream is absolutely overrated. For the price, you expect top quality, and it only disappoints you. The other well-known ice cream vendors in the city center do a much better job. Now that I know you are exploiting employees—forcing them to work sick and requiring me to find replacements myself—I am disgusted by you and will not set foot inside again.

Tasty ice cream, lots of choice, good quantity, and nice girls!!

Best icecream ever. Ps no exaggeration

The best ice cream we've ever had

There is a new pink hair girl that serves very small scoops. She is always frustrated with her life... Quite annoying to be served by her.

Second visit, and unfortunately the customer service was extremely disappointing. The store was not busy, yet one female staff member was chatting with her colleague while I stood waiting directly in front of her. Another staff member was already serving a customer, so I waited patiently. When two other customers arrived, she immediately served them instead, completely ignoring me despite having been standing there first. Even after finishing with them, she continued to stand there without greeting me or attempting to take my order. I eventually had to step forward and ask to be served. What made the experience particularly frustrating was that she never acknowledged that I had been waiting or that she had repeatedly ignored me. I have no issue waiting when a store is busy, but deliberately overlooking a customer who is standing directly in front of you is simply poor customer service. Very disappointing, especially on my second visit.

I recommend De IJssalon to everyone. They sell delicious ice cream here. My favorite flavor, pistachio, even contains whole pistachios—super! Taking a short walk after dinner in town and getting an ice cream here is a great idea. Prices are reasonable and the cones are super fresh.

Really tasty ice cream, but some employees scoop as if the place belongs to their father. And that for €5.50 for three scoops.

The pistachio ice cream is absolutely delicious; you can clearly taste the pistachio.

They have the best ice cream in Rotterdam and the surrounding area here! I haven't been going here for years for just any reason.

Nice place, delicious flavors. Open until late. Nice place to sit and experience the beautiful city of Rotterdam.

Super delicious ice cream at a fair price. And despite the long line, it went very smoothly.

Good quality tasty ice cream, friendly staff

The ice cream is super tasty, especially the chocolate and kiwi flavors are our favorites. Unfortunately, the scoops are small, but it is still highly recommended, even if there is a long line.

Got a super small bulb. Just sank in the Hoorn

Fake ice cream, bad, half melted, and there was just a hard piece of pistachio shell in my ice cream. Never again

You can find the best ice cream in beautiful Europe; there's very good ice cream.

Hazelnuts, hazelnuts, hazelnuts!

Good ice cream, good price for Netherlands. 🇳🇱 when I’m out and about in Rotterdam, I’m never shy to treat myself to a cone.

Good ice cream, very poor service. What a shame!!

Good ice cream in terms of taste, but the scoops are very small for the price you pay (€4.45).

The icecream itself is very taste. Staff is friendly but price wise it's steep, especially considering the size of the scoop

Tasty ice cream and sorbet, fun flavors and fresh ingredients

The ice cream is tasty, but such small scoops; it's almost scandalous to charge such a price for a few bites.

Rude staff. They made a mistake and mixed up the caramel and rum and raisin flavours. When I went back, they replaced it with another rum and raisin. Clearly the ice creams were mixed up. They didn't even try to taste it themselves and proceeded to be quite rude, sighing, pulling faces and complaining in Dutch as if I didn't understand what they were saying (I did). Really unacceptable. I appreciate it's busy but they didn't have to be so rude, and all the lady had to do was check the ice cream herself. Pretty simple and could have avoided the whole situation. I took an Oreo in the end. I was okay. Not worth the price.

Super delicious ice cream in many flavors, optionally with real whipped cream. You can eat it sitting outside on a bench.

Very long queues but good icecream

Delicious and creamy ice cream with a wide variety of flavors

Great Flavors and great customer service!

Was on my list for a long time. Definitely recommend going here 👌🏽

I received very friendly service today from a young but experienced employee who helps you with a smile. When I wished him a nice day in return, he said 'thank you'. Miracles still happen; customer friendliness still exists here :)

Super thick and creamy ice cream with a lot of interesting flavours!! I got the kokosmakroon (dutch coconut macaroon) flavour, and it was super tasty. Coconut ice cream is always my go to, and this one did not disappoint :)

Ice is usually really good. Even today i enjoyed but the yogurt flavour tasted like cheese, not too bad tho but i wasnt expecting it. La vache qui rit

I got confused at checkout. Some ice cream flavors turn out to be considerably more expensive per serving. This isn't always made clear beforehand. So you have to pay carefully, otherwise you'll quickly end up spending more than you expect. Paying via the deposit machine also doesn't work well in practice. It may look hygienic, but there's no explanation. You're suddenly asked if you want to pay cash, even though you don't know how it works. This makes paying cash difficult. Paying by card is possible and clearly seems preferable. I didn't know how to operate the machine, and frankly, that felt very awkward and embarrassing. My advice: make the ice cream price differences clearer and provide a short, clear explanation at the deposit machine. That will make it much more pleasant for customers. Sincerely, Max Ferdinandus Rotterdam

the best ice cream in Rotterdam, you honestly don't want anything else once you've tried this one

One of best icecreams in Rotterdam, especially the Pistachio one with whole nuts, the bomb 😋

Probably the best icecream I have had in Rotterdam, short wait, good prices, amazing service, choice and taste.

Creamy, tasty gelato that hits the spot. The vibe is straight forward and welcoming. Grab a couple scoops and take seat or stroll the “Meent”, simple as that. Service is quick, even when there’s a line. Texture of the gelato is smooth and the flavors are good, nothing artificial or overly sweet and their portions are fair. The fruity sorbets are bursting with real fruit flavor, especially the creamy passion fruit flavour (the one mixed with yoghurt)! And a nice touch, their spoons are edible! Crunchy cookie spoons FTW! Great for a pit stop on an afternoon or a late-day treat. Simple, honest and really “lekker”/delicious!

Today, on the Meent, I was honked at extensively by an ice cream van that then tried to corner me, nearly pushing me onto the sidewalk while riding my bike. Completely unnecessary, as the street was very busy and I was riding in the bike lane. With the side doors open and children in the van, I wonder what kind of example this behavior is supposed to set. What was once one of the best ice cream parlors in Rotterdam is now a place I won't set foot in because of this unjustified act of aggression towards a cyclist on Rotterdam's busiest street.

My leveling ice cream in Rotterdam! Lovely people, too. Always order three scoops. Pistachio vanilla chocolate with whipped cream and a cone in a cup! Delicious!

Delicious! The spoons for eating your ice cream are brilliant!

The new edible spoons leave a nasty aftertaste. After asking for wooden spoons, I was able to taste my ice cream again. I strongly recommend changing the edible spoons. At first, I thought it was the pistachio ice cream. That you might have a new pistachio supplier. But when I switched to the blueberry, the unnatural taste lingered. It turned out to be the edible sticks. Thankfully. Unfortunately, I only enjoyed the small amount of ice cream at the end. The first part was just sour. Luckily, I knew what was going on, because I'm a long-time ice cream lover and I come here often.

delicious ice cream and always busy when it's sunny.

Awesome ice cream, especially the chocolate one.

Taste is okay (nothing special) but quantity is small... This is one ball.. I wanted to buy two, but I only bought one once I saw this.

The best ice cream in Europe, vanilla is number one in my opinion... A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, I definitely recommend it.

I randomly chose four flavors of ice cream, all of them were good!

The gelato was beautifully presented, and this is coming from someone who eats gelato no more than four times a year. It was good, and the staff was friendly.

I honestly didn’t understand what was so special about this ice cream. I couldn’t get much flavor from either the strawberry or the chocolate — almost no taste at all. The outdoor seating area is nice to have, and the prices are reasonable. Service was fine, but the ice cream itself didn’t meet my expectations.

I saw a man passing by eating a large ice cream with gusto, and I thought it would be nice, so I discovered this shop. The combination of rum raisins and yogurt was a bit of a challenge, but it was delicious. I want to come back tomorrow before leaving Rotterdam.

Great!!! Good ice cream. Pricey though.

We've become quite spoiled with good ice cream parlors. De Meent was one of them. Unfortunately, the scoops (€2.25 and whipped cream €1.00) were nowhere as meager and frugal as in Rotterdam. Furthermore, the raspberry sorbet was tasteless. Hence, one star.

Possibly the best ice cream of Rotterdam. I can't help myself when I am in the area, and get a cone!

As a true connoisseur, I can say that this ice cream is top-notch, both in terms of taste and creamy, soft texture. The shop is well-maintained, and you're served by friendly staff instead of a touchscreen. A previous review mentioned that the scoops were too small. Madam, if it's not enough for you and too expensive, you should just get a tub of ice cream from the supermarket, which is just around the corner. Pure nonsense. I'm glad I finally found a delicious ice cream in Rotterdam again, because many people are easily satisfied with junk, and that's quite misleading. Here you get quality.

Some of the best ice cream in Rotterdam

Excellent ice cream, but very modest scoops.

A long line is normal at De IJssalon, but the wait is worth it. Delicious ice cream!

My favourite ice cream place in Rotterdam! In my opinion, those are the best ones! Pistachio is a must-try!

For a single scoop of ice cream, you'd expect a normal scoop. You get a small scoop in a small container, and that costs over €2. They scoop the scoop too sparingly, or probably don't have the strength to make it into a large scoop.

Very delicious with a spoon which seems like a wood but in reality it is a cookie which is so funny for my kid

best ice cream in rotty fr (i havent been to many others but still good ice cream si good ice cream

Love their ice cream - never been disappointed!

It is a very long line for a decent ice cream.

Fantastic ice cream for the real pistachio is recommended

Perfect with pistachios and forest fruits. Recommended

Today I went to the ice cream parlor in Rotterdam Meent, but unfortunately the experience was far from pleasant. The lady behind the counter was downright grumpy and clearly had little desire to help customers in a friendly way. No smile, no patience, and as if you were bothering her with your order. Too bad, because the ice cream itself is fine — but such an attitude spoils the whole atmosphere. Customer friendliness could really be better at this location.

This is the most delicious ice cream! Real amarena with super sourness!

The ice cream is not only delicious but also served with soul. We were with the kids, they liked it

Ruime keuze bazin geeft met volle overtuiging goedlachse uitleg over de 62 soorten schepijs, hier is een ijsje halen een beleving opzich

Tastiest ice cream in Rotterdam

Lots of choice. Amazing ice cream, especially the Malaga ice cream... really value for money.

We chose the pistachio ice cream as it was positively mentioned in the reviews, I also had chocolate, both were delicious 😋

Tastiest ice cream in the South Holland region 😋

No words really needed...always good when you're craving a delicious ice cream.

Expensive and tasteless ice cream.

So delicious.... 🤩 The tastiest again in 2025 🥰

Best ice cream in the region! Always enjoy this ice cream.

Best ice cream in Rotterdam and the surrounding area.

Pistachio ice cream with whipped cream 10/10 🩷🩷🩷

De IJssalon was busy, but the staff was very fast and the ice cream was delicious 😋

Nice ice cream, nice variation in flavors. Will the sour-mat ice cream come back?

The best ice cream in Rotterdam

Best gelato in the town. I can eat that vanilla till its end :)

It's a bit quiet inside. There was no radio or music playing during my visit. Felt a little tense or something.

Busy place. I ate white chocolate and ore ice cream. It was quite good, just a bit indistinct taste.

The tastiest ice cream parlor in Rotterdam

Lemon flavor was really fake and bitter. Wanted a receipt...couldn't do it...only via text message or email...after asking for the email 3 times...still didn't receive a receipt...finally they ran out of serviettes...received some kind of toilet paper instead...2. per scoop...

Mahgreb!!!!!! Mmmmmmmmm Delicious!

Very delicious ice cream. The Pure Chocolate sorbet is amazingly made. The chocolate taste is very rich. The fruit flavors of mango, lemon and passion fruit are very rich. The pistachio flavor is roasted pistachios and has intact pistachios. You can choose the topping with cream.

I have a gluten allergy and this place is known for serving gluten-free ice cream. I was helped very unfriendly by a girl who refused to help me 'gluten-free'. She almost started screaming that I couldn't get what I wanted. Very bad to treat your customers this way.

Pistachio ice cream tasted burnt and lemon was way too sour but okay

Beautiful ice cream parlor with an extensive range. Tried the pistachio, hazelnut and Bastogne buns and they were very tasty. If you are in the area and fancy ice cream, this is definitely recommended. You can also sit quietly both inside and outside.

Very popular ice cream cone. Not bad ice cream, but cannot be compared to a good Gelateria in Italy. Hef would be useful to put the flavors on the wall. You can already weigh in the queue instead of when it's your turn.

We are spoiled in Rotterdam, we also try ice cream in other cities, but they don't make it at the Ice Cream Parlour
