Had a lovely lunch in the cosy garden. Relaxed, informal atmosphere.

On a sunny afternoon, I sat with my mother in the shade of the garden. The table was dirty, but was cleaned quickly. Ordered an old cheese sandwich and a chickpea tuna sandwich, accompanied by mint tea and ginger tea. Super fresh ingredients, delicious bread, fresh and crispy. An 11 out of 10! Sweet girls in the service too and I picked up a nice cookie on the way out. I'd love to come back.

I really enjoy coming here, especially when the sun shines in the garden! I also like that I can park nearby if I feel like having a nice coffee/lunch but not in the hustle and bustle of the city.

I highly recommend. Calm and cozy atmosphere, delicious food and sweets. And away from the center but easy to get to. A place like this in the neighborhood is appreciated. The service is friendly. There is a terrace in front and a garden in the back, great for sunny days. You can see a decline in the amount of chai latte in the cup and an increase in price.

Very nice spot in Nijmegen. The acai bowl is my favorite and you get a generous portion. When the weather is good you can also sit outside here.

I'll be back ❤️✨ Only the name of the cafe is really too long. "Bairro Alto" would have been more fun. Canteen evokes "high school food" memories 😅

Wat een ongelofelijk fijne plek is dit. In de tuin waan je je even weg uit de stadse drukte. De bediening helpt hierin mee door ontzettend vriendelijk met je mee te denken. Ons ontbijtje was ook nog eens heerlijk! Genieten!

Good coffee and a pleasant atmosphere - the interior is very well designed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Cakes and cookies look great and taste just as good. There is a place for children to play in the garden. The only downside is that my americano was a little shorter than expected. Definitely worth visiting 😙

Be careful when you go here, it looks like a driveway between private homes, but it is behind those homes. Wonderfully quiet, a green oasis. The food and drinks are all super tasty. Wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely quiet place for a nice lunch, despite it being located near busy streets such as St Annastraat and Groenestraat! The oyster mushrooms bitterballen are delicious!!😋

Had a cup of coffee and a cake here last Friday. The blondie was very tasty. Service severely substandard. It was almost completely empty and there were two people working. Nevertheless, we had to wait >15 minutes before we were helped. The staff present was busier with cleaning up and closing work than with the guests, just before 4:00 PM. This was also noticed several times by at least 1 employee, but she gave priority to cleaning up. Shame.

Very nice coffee bar. Good coffee. The location is a bit hidden, but that adds to the charm of this place. Recommended if you want a small bite to eat.

It's a great place. The staff are friendly and helpful. The coffee is tasty and affordable. They have done a great job creating this hidden gem. You need to visit if you are nearby.

Had lunch today at the Canteen of Bairro Alto. Go there on spec. Reservations are not taken. Full house but lucky. Still a table for 2 Can find. At a 4-person table, 1 person sits on the laptop (any idea to work in a 1-person spot?). Opted for a regular mint and a regular ginger tea. In addition, a sandwich (super fresh and crunchy) old cheese and one with goat cheese, honey, nuts and pesto. Menu choice was good. Very tasty and beautifully presented and brought to the table with a smile. Not too much to make you feel uncomfortable. Atmosphere itself is fine. Nicely decorated. You look around at parked cars. A bit "noisy", who knows, maybe that's just me, but some sound deadening material might help in this regard. Despite this feedback, we will definitely come back👍

Nice place to have breakfast or lunch in a cozy, quiet courtyard just outside the city center. Specialties include different types of coffee, tea, juice and sandwiches, toasted sandwiches and other small dishes. You can also take the delicious brownies and cakes on the go. Inside, very cozy at tables or in the seating area, great crockery, super charming furnishings with a South American touch and a very pleasant terrace outside with green garden at the back. Nice atmosphere and very friendly, quick service. Perfect for a quality moment with family or friends or a quiet moment of work and/or relaxation.

Casual & relaxed with lovely food & good coffee. It was open early on Sunday & we enjoyed the Avocado & eggs on toast with coffee for breakfast. We could not resist so took cake away with us.

We really enjoyed sitting in the garden. It was wonderfully sunny, and there was space for the kids to play. The food and drinks were delicious! My son had the carrot cake, I had the caramel brownie. We both drank homemade lemonade. All was delicious.

Quiet place where you can sit comfortably, the offer is about the same as at Bairro Alto in the city. It was busy, but there were certainly still a few spots available. Highly recommended, you just have to look for where it is.

Dikke aanrader om hier eens te gaan ontbijten. Gelegen buiten het centrum van Nijmegen, maar daardoor waarschijnlijk ook minder druk dan de goede ontbijt locaties in de stad. Wij vonden het echter het fietsen meer dan waard en komen hier zeker nog eens terug

Surprisingly nice place, tucked away somewhere in the back, but it was pleasantly busy so many people now know where to find it, nice. All very nice homemade products in the display case, I would like to try everything. We had breakfast here. I had a breakfast platter which was very tasty. All fresh, homemade products. Had a nice seat on the back terrace. Only downside; boiled egg came out of the refrigerator and was stone cold. I understand it from the point of view of being able to quickly put something on the table, but for me a boiled egg should be warm or at most room temperature.

What an unexpectedly beautiful spot behind and between renovations. A small oasis of peace and a small garden. With delicious dishes and cakes that you can't choose from, so delicious. Super place.

Een goed verborgen geheimpje op de Gorterplaats, deze kantine! Een fijne plek voor ontbijt en lunch, met waarschijnlijk het lelijkste uitzicht van Nijmegen, maar wel met een leuke tuin, uitstekend (vegetarisch) eten en een uiterst vriendelijke en goede bediening. Zoekt en gij zult vinden :-)

A well-hidden secret on the Gorterplaats, this canteen! A nice place for breakfast and lunch, with probably the ugliest view in Nijmegen, but with a nice garden, excellent (vegetarian) food and extremely friendly and good service. Seek and you shall find :-)

The location of the Canteen is so nice, completely away from all the hustle and bustle. I also think the decor is fantastic and the fact that I can always count on good coffee!
