It was very busy but lively, except for the phone behind the bar that kept ringing. The staff is very friendly.

Cozy eatery for all ages with a great variety based on Spanish cuisine. Also has a pleasant outdoor terrace. Pleasantly clean restrooms and reasonable prices. Unfortunately, they are closing at the end of the year, so make a reservation quickly.

We had a delicious meal. You really do get a lot, it's easily accessible, and the parking is good. Reservations are practically necessary on weekends.

Had a delicious lunch. Friendly and fast service. It is a pity that my dining companion was bothered by a leak from the glass roof in the conservatory where we were sitting, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Exceptionally tasty lunch, great service, at very reasonable prices. We ended up here quite unexpectedly, but what a pleasant experience. We took the "Lunch Tasting," which turned out to be very extensive and delicious. The service was prompt, fresh, and cheerful, which is quite unusual these days. We even had a nice glass of wine to go with it. When you pay, you notice that the price-performance ratio is excellent as well. Absolutely top-notch.

Very friendly and helpful staff. I arrived with a stroller and a two-year-old child, and a clean high chair was available and offered immediately. Staff also came by to chat with my daughter for a bit. The food was very tasty and of high quality. The only thing that was a bit less appealing was the location. You are literally sitting on a busy car/highway, next to a gas station. But the restaurant can't do anything about that.

I come here every now and then as a driver; parking is a bit tight, but you can eat and stay overnight here well. In my opinion, the spareribs could use some attention—I can hardly get the meat off the bone—but the rest of the food tastes delicious! If the ribs were better, I would have given you 5 stars.

What a wonderful experience this was. We had a fantastic meal here, and the atmosphere was exactly what you hope for on a night out. Not only did the food look beautiful on the plate, but it tasted truly exquisite as well. The paella, in particular, was a bullseye, full of rich flavors and generously filled with large prawns. It is nice to see that so much attention is paid to the presentation of the dishes. We will definitely be back here again.

Enjoyed an excellent tournedos. Sauce was charged separately. In addition to bread, we were served fried potatoes as a starter. With the main course, a baked potato and a side dish of fries. The only vegetable was a small piece of corn. My advice: offer fewer potato dishes at the same time and more vegetables. By the way, the homemade applesauce was delicious.

It remains a classic in Krommenie! Whole generations grew up having a bite to eat at the roadside restaurant "de Krokodil"! We have been coming here for years, and what stands out is the consistent quality, with the "Spanish cuisine" as a specialty—very impressive! We had a delicious meal again this time, and the outdoor terrace is highly recommended when the weather is nice! You often see interesting things passing by there too!) In short, a good spot for a great meal!

May 2026 Bad experience? Downright disappointing. Ate at this restaurant for my 65th birthday. Downright disappointing. Far too busy, the kitchen clearly couldn't handle it. Ordered the tapas menu because the photos on the website looked promising. Had to wait an hour between the first and second small dish. We were served patatas bravas and bread twice in a row because we had to wait so long. Because we were hopeful about what was yet to come, we just pushed these aside. At the end, everything arrived at once. When you think of tapas, you think of shrimp croquettes, meatballs, and especially small, flavorful dishes, not a plate full of meat. The fish was inedible due to the bones, the calamari was impossible to eat because it was so tough and the crust around it tasteless, the lamb chop was too raw, and the piece of cod one of us received as a replacement for the prawns was tasteless. To end on a positive note, the patatas, sausage/cheese/olives, prawns, and chicken in sauce were good.

On a Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m., we popped in briefly after previous, rather disappointing experiences, to see if De Krokodil could redeem itself. Upon entering, we were told that if we wanted something to eat, we had to be quick, because all the staff, including the kitchen, would be eating very quickly before the evening shift started. Of the croquettes with bread that were served to us, the croquettes had been fried for too long, burst open, and were subsequently served with about 40% filling. Since the previous 2 experiences weren't "top-notch" either, this was our last visit to De Krokodil.

Not wheelchair accessible. We had lunch on a Thursday and the place was packed. We hadn't booked, so we ended up sitting in the conservatory. The coffee was great, the croquette sandwiches were soggy from the moisture of the raw vegetables, and the crocodile omelet wasn't anything special. Maybe we were unlucky, because it was really busy.

So we went there once after hearing it so often. (This feedback is for one of your waitresses.) If you're still discussing who wants to eat what at the table and you, as a customer, ask the person paying if they can order the dish they'd like (don't immediately say "yes," and it's immediately entered into the system). That's not very polite and comes across as quite rushed. Only do this after the paying customer at the table has given their approval... (The waitress in question will know for herself that she made this clumsy move.) (- The meat is good and tender, the food is good and fresh, the salad and fries are also good, and your hamburger is also well-filled.) !!!! (- The price/amount you get for the money is appalling.)!!!! If you order a Mixed Grill (!!!! €26.50!!!!) (You'll get a small skewer with 7 square pieces of meat) and 2 measured pieces of spare ribs even smaller than your average hand (So, call it a skewer with 7 small measured pieces of meat on your menu????!!!!) instead of (Mixed Grill....) (For me and many others, Mixed Grill means a plate full of pieces of meat, enough for one person, and often a second person will eat from that as well.) Imagine giving your customers larger pieces of meat on better-presented plates, with the idea that they'll leave the restaurant feeling good and satisfied... Another notable thing is the unlimited spare ribs (One dish on your menu...). It's a good start. Where's it going wrong?... After ordering extra spare ribs, you get 2 of the same, poorly-sized pieces of spare ribs as with the Mixed Grill. (Just give them 3 of the same spare ribs you initially ordered.) (It took 5 minutes after the second portion was served on a plate.) (All in all, disappointment after disappointment.) !!! (Tip for Customers) !!! Before ordering, please indicate that you want a full plate with plenty of food.

We went for the tapas all-you-can-eat menu on a Monday evening. As a Spanish person I was quite excited. However, it was mostly very disappointing. Apart from the bravas and tortilla (potatoes), and the croquettes, the rest was very bad. The tuna salad (ensaladilla rusa) was very very cold, you could tell they just defrosted it or took it out of the fridge, not nice. The small peppers were very raw and not Spanish (not padrón peppers at all). The fried calamari was also very raw and chewy. The sardine was not special either. Shrimps were drawn in butter and oil. Also, the drinks menu (at least the beer one) did not have prices on, which I find very dishonest from a business. Overall a bad experience. The price of the tapas menu was high, and so I would expect the food to be at the same level. Otherwise, I would advise the restaurant not to offer such food if the quality cannot keep up.

The Crocodile is in a terribly dull location, right next to a gas station. But inside, it was actually very cozy and welcoming. All in all, a place I'll definitely be visiting again.

We've been driving past this place for years and always joked that we had to eat here sometime. Today we had a spare moment and had a delicious lunch! Far exceeded our expectations. We were able to book a last-minute table for four for Saturday. They were very accommodating, as the restaurant was actually fully booked. The food was delicious, generous portions, and the staff were friendly!

Something has changed: We were looking forward to a delicious meal like we're used to. However, this time the food was disappointing. Not what we were used to. Avocado with a few shrimp and ultra-thin salmon and lots of lettuce for the starter. Salad with steak cubes followed by carpaccio for the main course. The carpaccio was wet, thin, and tasteless. The steak cubes were good. Again, lots of lettuce with little flavor. Several people in our group found the food disappointing. A shame, because it was always good.

Perhaps I just wasn't lucky, considering the many positive reviews. I went for the spareribs, but they were very dry and tough. Like they were from last week. I hoped the second helping would be better, but it wasn't much better. It's a shame. They reported it, but in my opinion, nothing was really done about it. Afterward, I ate something else. As for the atmosphere, it was very noisy. But that's not really the restaurant's fault. There were several very noisy tables, so we couldn't really talk to each other without practically shouting. The service was decent, though. Unfortunately, I'll leave it at one visit. Again: perhaps I just wasn't lucky.

I've lived in Krommenie for 22 years, and I've always driven past it. What a waste of time! I ate there for the first time, and everything was excellent. It looked beautiful, tasted great, and the whole atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy. It had a bit of a traditional Dutch café feel, which I liked. We'll definitely be back.

You can choose two dishes per person, and there's a wide selection of meat, fish, and vegetarian options. We were seated at a small table right next to the bar and the walk-through area of ​​the kitchen and cash register. This was less than ideal, as people were constantly walking by or waiting next to our table. Parking is quite limited, especially when trucks are parked there as well.

Ate here on the recommendation of friends. We chose the Spanish tapas, which is only available on weekdays. First of all, the service was super friendly and welcoming, and the food... AMAZING! The steak (on a skewer) was so tender you barely had to chew. The rack of lamb, I think the best I've ever had. And the garlic shrimp, fantastic. They do, as true Spanish tapas should be, love garlic, so hitting on someone in the pub after dinner is out of the question, but I love garlic. Incidentally, I'm not vegan myself, but they also have a wide selection of vegetarian dishes, which are also really delicious. Try the scallop with syrup, for example. Highly recommended and definitely worth repeating.

Our dinner at this restaurant was one of the most disappointing culinary experiences we've ever had. The grilled mix we ordered was simply unacceptable. The grilled meat was tough, dried out, and in some cases, simply inedible. The spareribs were old, dry, and tasteless. The remaining meat was of questionable quality and clearly not fresh. Only the chicken was somewhat edible – the rest of the dish was absolutely not. We immediately reported this to the waiter, who was polite but only offered to re-serve the same grilled mix. After such a bad first impression, we had absolutely no interest in trying again. At the end of the meal, we were offered coffee and some cookies, but there was no mention of a discount or compensation, even though we had to pay a bill of 200 euros. This is completely unacceptable. Charging such a sum for a meal that is inedible is simply scandalous. The kitchen staff demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and respect for the customer. A restaurant of this caliber should maintain much higher standards – both in terms of food and customer service. It was a truly awful experience. We will never return and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The crocodile is a kind of restaurant where they really like sauces from bottles. We ordered three different dishes. It took quite a while before the waitress came to take our order. It was around dinner time for the staff. After some encouragement we could order. We got two dishes for free. Baguette with herb butter and potatoes under the sauce. In itself nice but not special. Then came our main courses and again under the sauce. Also not special. Actually the level was of a fast restaurant. The surprise actually came when we paid. The bill was for a good restaurant but it wasn't. It really wasn't special. The staff wasn't special either. There was even one who asked how the food tasted and didn't give us the chance to answer because she answered for us herself. Very strange. It's not a restaurant where you think I'll come here again.
