We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there and we all had a very nice afternoon/evening. First a nice drink and then a delicious sharing dinner The food was great...something for everyone and plenty to choose from The service was very good...although it was very busy for them due to both a wedding upstairs and our table for 16 people downstairs, we didn't notice anything, everything was great. We consciously chose De Markies for a lunch meeting with 22 guests – and what a good choice it was! From the first contact you will notice that there is real attention to the customer's wishes. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail, the atmosphere was cozy and hospitable. A good price-quality ratio. On behalf of Event-house, extra kudos to Ruud, who really makes the difference as a host. Attentive, thoughtful and with genuine interest!

Yesterday we ate in this cozy restaurant with a friend. On the advice of the owner, we opted for the "shared dining" concept. That was good advice and the food was really tasty. The wines and coffee with a typical Schiedam drink were also great. (Although my head says something different today) Thanks for the nice evening.

Ik wilde naar mjn favo plekjes in Rotterdam, maar dacht..kom ik ga eens in mijn eigen stad. Ten eerste was ik de enige in de zaak, werden mijn vingers blauw van de kou, ik heb nog nooit een horeca bezocht waar het zooo koud was. Dan, bestelde ik een Leffe Blond, prima in fijn bol glas. Bediening super aardig. Maar, de gehaktbal met brood, mmm...de bal was redelijk maar de witte brood bol niet te snijden en zeer taai, smakeloos. Het langwerpige bord veel te klein, waardoor het snij ritueel nog lastiger werd. Een beetje rucola erover maakte er nog iets van. De structuur van de bal gaf me ook niet het idee van een zelfgemaakt iets. Met een minimale tip was ik ook nog 20,00 euro kwijt. Dit staat Echt niet in verhouding tot iets dat ik thuis lekkerder klaarmaak. Ik had hele hoge verwachtingen , maar ik beloof mezelf meteen op de fiets naar Rotterdam te stappen om dit even over te doen op een sfeervollere plek, zoals Steijn Seijf of Wester Paviljoen. Heel jammer...Dit voldoet niet aan mijn fijn en sfeer proeverij. Sorry ....

Last night we met De Markies for the first time, after simply making a reservation via the website. The restaurant is small and attractive, yet spaciously decorated, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. Upon entering we were greeted warmly, and we became interested in the "shared dining" concept. The dishes were of excellent quality and taste, with the homemade spicy chicken balls with cheese being an absolute must. You really shouldn't miss this one! It was also nice to see the owner personally chatting with the guests, which made the experience even more special. We will definitely come back here again. Finally, I have two little tips: - It would be useful to mention on the website that there is parking behind the restaurant. This may be useful for future guests. - At one point the sun shone annoyingly in on your eyes, and there were no window coverings so we had to move up a chair. Maybe it was there, but I overlooked it. All in all a great experience that is definitely worth repeating!

Heel leuk shared dining concept. Ook voor de vegetarische gasten ruime en originele keuzes. Ik adviseer iedereen om hier te gaan eten!

Last weekend I had a delicious lunch with two friends at De Markies. We received a friendly welcome and enjoyed 'Shared Lunch', for which an exception to the rule was very kindly made upon special request when booking. At the restaurant they know what really good food is and (among other things) the Smokey Spicy Salmon is highly recommended! I am happy that Ruud and Ton have breathed life back into the building and I will definitely visit again!

Yesterday my brother and I took our mother to the Marquis for Mother's Day. They immediately gained 3 regular customers! The preparation, quantity and taste were perfect. On February 16 last we had a condolence event take place in the Marquis after the cremation of our son. This took place on the 1st floor, which we had completely at our disposal. Beautiful setting with history, bar, seating area and toilet group. All could go to the 1st floor via a separate entrance. The room was furnished with some standing tables. We thought we would receive about 100 guests, but this turned out to be about 140. All guests could order freely at the bar and various snacks were served for 2 hours. Everything was perfectly arranged by the host and his employees. Afterwards we would have a shared dining downstairs in the restaurant area with a group of 10 people. The host had a different proposal and then placed tables at the bar on the 1st floor so that we could really conclude. Top. The snacks, shared dining dishes and served wines were of excellent quality. It has become a special condolence thanks to the thoughtful host and his excellent staff. We thank the Marquis for this reminder. The Marquis is therefore also an excellent choice for these types of events!

Last Saturday evening we ended up at De Markies, after a very friendly welcome the atmosphere was immediately set We were served very friendly and enthusiastically by Ruud and Ton and it was as if we were regular guests, even though it was our first time there. Wow, it was an evening for the books and we would definitely like to come back here. Donderdagavond een hapje wezen eten in de Markies. Bij binnenkomst om 19h00 was er voldoende plek. En we vroegen als we een hapje konden eten. Dat was mogelijk, gaat u lekker zitten. Het duurde even voordat onze bestelling opgenomen werd, terwijl ze niets te doen had. Op de tafel geen menukaart. Bij het bestellen van de drankjes vroegen wij om de menukaart. Die zou ze even brengen. Nee, dus. Bij het serveren van de drankjes had ze de menukaart niet bij haar. Wij vroegen er nogmaals om en ze ging ze halen. Op dat moment vroeg een andere gast om de rekening. Die werdt gemaakt en wij nog steeds geen menukaart. Drankjes waren al reeds op en ik was in staat om aftereken en weg te gaan. Uiteindelijk de menukaart na ongeveer, niet overdreven 20 minuten. Voor ons geen Markies meer.

We were planning to visit the restaurant since they opened a year ago. Honestly, we were afraid a bit regarding the concept to share, but it was great :) big portion, very friendly and quiet place. The plus is definitely the owners working in the place. We can see the difference in the way to serve.

Great simple but good menu. You get what you hope to get when you order. Good portions, great flavours, great timing by kitchen. Friendly staff and owner, accomodating of food restrictions. Will definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family. Some critical honesty: I deducted one star for food because the churros we had for dessert were too sweet and overfried. The menu on the website was different from the restaurant. Both the dishes and the prices differed. Not my kind of surprise, I want to know what to expect to eat and spend. Now I know, but if this is a pet peeve for you then call in advance to ask if the online menu is current. 😉 They offered a complimentary local drink. Alcoholoc which I don't drink (breastfeeding). So although I really appreciated the offer, I would have liked a non alcoholic alternative. Many people don't drink alcohol for whatever reason (i.e. age, health, religion, choice) so it might be nice to keep that in mind.

For us, De Markies was an old acquaintance under the name 't Sterretje. Café with the option to eat. It is now a restaurant without the hustle and bustle of a cafe. We were received and helped very kindly. Good choice of draft beer. The food is good and tasty without any fuss. The limoncello offered was very tasty.

During our stay in Schiedam we had dinner at the Markies, it was not busy for a Thursday evening but that, partly due to the employees, created a very relaxed atmosphere with time for a personal conversation. All courses were well taken care of, and if something was not in stock, this was communicated well and an alternative was offered. Restaurant looks attractive. Point of attention; renovation of the toilets would not be an unnecessary luxury.

The food itself tastes good, not a tour de force. The service was fine, but very noisy with somewhat larger groups of tables. We went here for the 1st time last week, but also the last time for us. We opted for shared dining. The price compared to the quantity is a disappointment as far as we are concerned. Very small portions for relatively a lot of money. Bread with spreads takes the cake in our opinion, a few extremely thinly sliced ​​baguettes with a lick of aioli, hummus and a slice of herb butter. I would never order a bowl of fries, with an emphasis on the bruschetta (no toast but a soft slice of baguette) for that money again. Hence 3 stars.

This afternoon we had a delicious lunch at the Marquis, tomato/smoked pepper soup and grilled chicken fillet on bread and my husband grilled chicken thighs. We've been enjoying ourselves. The owner was present and was clearly proud of his business and knew a lot about the history of the building and Schiedam. Very nice, tasty and atmospheric. We will definitely come back.

We stayed for a week in Scheidam and this restaurant was conveniently located within walking distance and offered a nice traditional Dutch meal of chicken sauté and fresh salad. Staff were incredibly friendly, even offered us an English menu. Drinks were lovely and large. Cozy pub style decor with music that’s enjoyable and not loud. My husband accidentally left his wallet here and the manager was kind enough to hang onto it and return it to us when he arrived at the restaurant early the next morning. Thank you Ruud!

The food is tasty, but they call it shared dining and the portions are too small. Staff do not indicate the cloakroom upon entry, so all coats are on the chairs. With shared dining, people expect small tables for 2 people to make it more intimate. Staff just removes the plates without asking. And when changing dishes you must use the same plate and cutlery. Salad and fries are over priced for what you get... More of a brown pub/cafe than a restaurant. Missed opportunity this. Had some potential but lacks the ambiance.
