Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Had a good overall dining experience.

Jeez, this was rubbish. People smoking on a terrace where lots of children are playing. 2 (non-alcoholic) drinks for 13 euros. And there was a terrible percussion band playing way too loud and disjointed. I appreciate the effort, but this wasn't a good combination. I'd rather not come here again. It's a shame, because the little playground is actually quite nice for the little ones.

I haven't written any reviews at all. This isn't very nice of you. We were turned away once, though; there was no room left, although there were plenty of tables with and without reservation signs. Additionally, we ate at your place five weeks ago, and for me, a lamb dish that was inedible. At that time, we said we wouldn't be coming back for the time being, even though we used to visit you regularly, but we did visit the previous owners??!!

Beautiful spot, but unfortunately with a recurring phenomenon: tables with reservations and a staff member indicating there is no room. Eventually, people left, freeing up a spot so we could enjoy our cup of coffee. Just like previous times, all reserved tables remained empty, and it was difficult to place an order.

De Peer is a lovely neighbourhood restaurant with a warm, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, and the food is fresh, well prepared, and nicely presented. Portions are generous, and the overall dining experience is enjoyable. We found that a few dishes were either a little too salty or somewhat bland, but that's something that can certainly be improved. The staff are attentive and welcoming, making it a place I'd happily return to. Overall, it's a great option in Breda for a casual lunch or dinner.

Lovely location with warm, very hospitable service. Something you unfortunately rarely come across these days. Also very child-friendly, making it a perfect place for both a cozy dinner and a (large) family gathering. Definitely recommended!

Visited here for the first time today. The food was good, but the service could really be better. I asked for some butter with my soup and bread, but received a melted, warm little butter that looked like it had just come out of the waiter's apron. No knife, nothing. So I just tried to spread it on my bread with a spoon. The wait staff walked past but never once asked if everything was to our liking or if we wanted anything else to drink. A real missed opportunity to generate extra revenue? I also just went inside to pay. It wasn't that busy today; the food was good, but the extra attention you would expect from the staff was lacking.

Tried again today, 12-7-2026, but this really is the last time. I don't know what is going wrong there, but things are handled really amateurishly. I was there for the last time a while ago; it was so bad, pfff. Very unfortunate, because we have always had very good meals there. I also pointed out that it really wasn't good, but I just got a lukewarm response, not even an apology. I'm done with it immediately; they will never see us here again.

Dear people of De Peer, dear Mark, what an unpleasant experience we had at your place again last night. And all because of a glass of water. We came in for a bite to eat, ordered something to drink and eat, and asked for a carafe of water. Last year that went wrong once, followed by apologies because it turned out you did have bottled water after all. But last night, suddenly, not again. Even though it was over 30°, we couldn't get a glass of water, only spring water. We don't order that because we think it's nonsense: tap water in the Netherlands is of excellent quality and, in our opinion, simply ought to be served at the table, even if it’s for a few euros. Look at a restaurant like Blossem: charge a few euros for filtered water and that works perfectly fine. Everyone happy, and the staff doesn't have to have those annoying conversations anymore. We really felt sorry for the waitress from last night. She went inside twice to ask if she really wasn't allowed to pour a glass of water, but apparently, it was decided from above that it really wasn't allowed. We left and went to eat somewhere else. To us, this is truly the height of customer unfriendliness. Are things really going so badly that the profit has to come from bottles of Spa Blue? Is it really true that you are afraid the entire terrace will order carafes of water and drink nothing else? I don't believe it for a second. But making your customers leave because you don't want to give them a glass of water: baffling. Our advice: be a little kinder to your customers and cherish them. We live nearby and enjoy coming to your terrace. But this policy is so old-fashioned and so customer-unfriendly; it really doesn't belong in this day and age. What would be truly customer-friendly: on these days when it is so sweltering, put some lemon water on the table as standard. You would make the customers very happy with that, and they would go home feeling much better than is probably often the case now. And once again: we also find this incredibly upsetting for the staff. They try their very best and are very friendly, but when the manager is so rigid in their approach and stubbornly insists that there is no other way, then something is really going wrong at De Peer. We would like to discuss this with you when we visit next time; naturally, we will then immediately remove this unpleasant review, just as we did last year and adjusted it from 1 to 4 stars. We know how annoying it is, but apparently, it is really necessary for you to give that final push towards becoming a truly customer-friendly restaurant. We are curious to see if you are willing to adjust your policy. De Peer is simply too nice a place to have such a nasty experience.

A carafe of water or a glass of water is not possible. We are drinking a lot of beer and had ordered main courses. (And it is 35 degrees outside.) We come every week for coffee and apple pie and have eaten there several times. Unfortunately, this was the last time. We would have loved to spend many more euros on food and drinks. But if they can't afford a glass of water, then that's not going to happen! (Tip: sell filtered tap water for a reasonable price. We are willing to pay for water. But we won't drink Spa Blue if we are spending a lot of money on other drinks and food!)

Friendly staff. Due to the beautiful weather, there was a bit of a shortage of staff, so you had to wait a little longer for your order, but they did their best. The food was very tasty. Nice location. We will definitely come back again.

Bad service for the umpteenth time!! Food took a long time to eat, and for a child-friendly restaurant, you get given the cold shoulder when the weather is bad if you have children!! Never again!!

Unfortunately, our visit to Restaurant De Peer in Breda was once again a disappointment. We had previously had bad experiences with the service when celebrating big birthdays and having drinks with friends in the afternoons, but this time, everything was hampered by a lack of understanding and service. For our son's birthday, we had asked if they could perhaps decorate the chair. Unfortunately, this was not possible; that is possible. Subsequently, we had to sit inside due to the bad weather. De Peer is nicely situated near the Liesbos with an accompanying playground, but in bad weather, there is nothing to do inside. Our children were restless at first because of the presents and cards, but after we spoke to them about it, they sat down nicely at the table, colored first, and then sat with a phone on silent. Despite this, we heard the staff tell other tables that "they had already said something about it," even though there was really nothing wrong anymore. No one can influence the weather, but in bad weather, don't suddenly act as if your restaurant has turned into a Michelin-starred establishment that suddenly no longer counts on children. In addition, you would think they would want you to leave quickly, but it took a long time for the main courses and drinks to arrive, making the experience even more disappointing.

We made a reservation on time this evening with two small children. We waited more than 1.5 hours for our order. We asked several times how much longer it would take, but no one gave an answer. We had clearly forgotten, but it was because ‘we had ordered bread in advance’. We paid for the drinks and left without an apology and on empty stomachs.

We had to wait a long time for drinks. Then another half hour before the menu was brought, and half an hour after that, no order had been taken. We showed some respect because it was a public holiday, but it wasn't even busy. Staff passed by countless times but without a response. We decided to eat somewhere else, but we had to wait a long time to pay as well. Several other customers were the same. It's a shame, because it has a good reputation.

It's fine to sit there, but it just takes a very long time for the drinks to arrive. Also, they don't come to take your orders themselves; you have to keep calling them. The iced tea had little to no fizz on three separate occasions; I pointed this out multiple times but nothing was done about it.

My prawns were completely covered in burnt chili peppers. I don't understand how you intend to serve that to a customer like that... I was able to remove them, but the burnt taste was everywhere. The squid rings were also mealy and tasteless. After reporting this, and receiving confirmation that all the peppers were indeed burnt black, no one followed up on it and I was simply charged the full price. Truly terrible. You really haven't understood what service is and apparently don't want your customers to return.

Really good restaurant. There were five of us. Highly recommended for a business dinner.

A lovely restaurant for a delicious lunch; the club sandwiches are especially delicious. The price-quality ratio and the atmosphere are excellent. The staff are friendly. Free parking is available on site. There's a playground for children. It's also nice to take a walk through the Liesbos woods across the street. It can get a bit noisy at times, depending on how busy it is and where you're sitting. There's a conservatory where you can enjoy a quieter, pleasant setting with a view of the woods.

We had a delicious meal in a lovely atmosphere. It's not something we normally do on a weeknight, but it added that extra touch of flair to our son's birthday.

An ideal, cozy lunch spot for on-the-go dining. Well worth a stop. Extensive lunch menu, deliciously presented. I've also enjoyed a delicious and generous dinner here in the past.

Nice atmosphere and helpful staff

My wife and I both ordered a medium steak. Both were dry and definitely not tender. They also lacked flavor. I left a piece. I was asked if I wanted something else, but I didn't want to. For dessert, I got a "lady blanched" steak. I certainly appreciated that, but I don't understand why the steak wasn't served properly.

I had the club beef, but I wasn't particularly impressed this time. Last time, I opted for Peer's Borrelplank (Snack Platter), and I honestly liked it better. It's also a shame I couldn't choose from more tea flavors. The atmosphere is always very pleasant, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We didn't feel like cooking, so we decided to have a lovely meal together. The food and service were excellent. A bit noisy, I think, due to groups attending company outings before Christmas. Anyway: we had a delicious meal again.

There was a considerable delay between the drinks being served and the amuse-bouche. We had the exclusive game evening menu. After the first course, we indicated that we needed less time between subsequent courses, and this was readily accepted. The quality of the food was excellent, but it was freezing cold in the conservatory. Therefore, we left quickly.

Great service and an attractive menu at first glance, but the portions were truly tiny, and the quality was truly poor. A midday meal included a small hamburger, Waldorf salad, and soup, and I'm not a big eater, but it was a truly tiny portion (two tablespoons of everything), especially for the price. The same goes for the croquettes: stale, toasted bread (even though "toasted" isn't on the menu) with nothing but mustard, while elsewhere you often get lettuce, tomato, or a small tub of butter with Erbib, or a side salad. The orange juice was also smaller than small and blew over a bit in the wind outside, causing some of it to spill, but I didn't get any more. There's a super fun playground for the kids, and it's really nicely decorated, and everything else looks neat. If the quality of the food would improve, with slightly larger portions and a more appealing children's menu, it would be a top location.

TIGER SHRIMP | grilled vegetables, tuna tataki & antiboise €40.00 For that price, you'd expect some fries, you'd think. We were with a larger group, and quite a few things went wrong. Unfortunately! Reply to comment below; it said we had to order fries separately. So that's another mistake. An email address would also be helpful if you actually wanted to receive complaints... Solution-oriented thinking wasn't there. And I don't really feel it now.

It was lovely to sit on the terrace in good weather while the kids played. The food was also delicious. Afterward, you can immediately walk into the woods for a lovely walk.

A hedge next to the road is fine, but with tractors and the like along the way, it's a shame there's nothing in between. The food and service were perfect.

The food was good and the restaurant/playground was nice. However, the service was truly awful. Unfriendly, the older lady was completely clueless, and the wait was far too long.

We had made reservations for 10 people, one little one in a highchair and a baby in a stroller. The stroller was said to be an obstacle, even though it was parked outside. Once seated, we asked three times if we could order something, and after 50 minutes we finally ordered. Then we had to wait another 15 minutes for our drinks. The food arrived a little later, and it was fair to good, but nothing special. Ordering another drink was out of the question. After everything was cleared, we wanted coffee, but that was completely out of the question. So we left. Not recommended.

Today 17 Aug we wanted to have lunch around 1 o'clock. The table in front of the door is full while the terrace was only a quarter occupied, so if it is not full, add it, unfortunately there are not enough staff.

Went for a quick bite to eat on the terrace, but many tables were still covered in items from previous visitors. Ordered one drink, which took ages. We received the wrong appetizer platter. Empty glass, didn't see anyone for an hour. It's truly a loss. Especially for you, in terms of income.

A more friendly policy regarding toilet visits for non-guests would be welcome, especially in such a wooded area with no other toilet facilities. If necessary, ask for a contribution and don't send people away. That's truly rude.

Had a lovely meal with family. There was a little boy with us, and he had a blast thanks to the playground near the patio. The weather was beautiful, so we could eat outside. The food was good, and the service was very friendly.

We had two small meals during a break in our travels and were delighted. The outdoor seating is very comfortable.

On a sunny Thursday afternoon we made a reservation on the terrace. Enough parasols to sit out of the sun. You can also indicate where you prefer to sit (if you reserve in advance of course). Price/quality is very good. We had a 'twelve hours de luxe €17' and a 'club steak €18'. The service is friendly and alert/quick. 👍👍

Our couple has been coming here for years, often on weekends for drinks and a snack platter. It's a shame it's not the same experience as a few years ago; no small talk and long waits for drinks. We also heard people around us complain about long waits and the staff being less than chatty.

12.5€ for a weihenstephaner!!!!! Have you gone completely mad?? Just drive on to Zevenbergen or Breda for example. Nice terrace and 7€ for the same beer, see price list of café in Zevenbergen.

We were assigned a table and then we were not helped anymore. No drink was offered and we did not even see the menu. Eye contact was avoided. After 20 minutes we left. Bad service..

Great food! Only downside, despite the wine and beers, unfortunately there is no tap water, too bad. Should, like abroad, just be served as standard......

Today I took my son for lunch at De Peer and it was delicious again. I had a Club Steak and my son had a carpaccio omelette. Beautiful decor, super friendly waiter, beautiful location and delicious. Normal price, will definitely come back again

Cosy restaurant with a beautiful terrace. We had a great meal but it is so annoying when the evening starts with ‘We don’t do a carafe of water, only Spa blue or Spa red’. And that while we ordered a bottle of wine (and not the cheapest one…). It comes across as so incredibly unfriendly to customers and we really wonder why this is necessary. I would ask for a few euros for it. Why do they put a carafe of water on the table in Amsterdam, London and Paris and not here? We will definitely come back because it is a nice place, but please change this, it is no longer up to date. Adjusted: this apparently did not go well because they do have a carafe of water. That is nice, therefore 4 stars for the Peer!

Very nice with children, playground

Bad experience, had to wait a very long time for the food which made the drinks bill quite high. There were too many large groups which the kitchen could not handle. Cold steak, this was returned and was heated up in the microwave which made it a tough steak, this was not eaten and not paid for. In short, for us no more to the Peer.

We had lunch and drinks at De Peer with a group of 12. Our waiter, Maarten, brought a good dose of humor to our table. We had a lot of laughs and a delicious meal.

Delicious food and beautiful dining concept with 3,4 or 5 courses! The only downside was some beers on tap that were on but empty or out of stock. Special beer for 7 euros 50, which is quite expensive For the rest, desserts are also great 👌🏻

Had dinner here on a lovely sunny afternoon/evening. We received a friendly welcome, had a delicious meal, the children's milk allergies were also taken into account and my husband was well taken into account. And the children played happily and ate their plates empty. We will definitely come back again.

Location is fine. Service is good, cheerful. Food can be better for the same price. Onion soup mediocre. Shrimp croquette mediocre. Fish salad mediocre, lots of salad and only mediocre fish.

After a lovely walk in the woods today (13-3-25) we sat on the terrace with the dog. Unfortunately, lunch at De Peer was not served on the terrace. Well the coffee!??? Picking up lunch yourself was also not an option. Lunch had to be served by the waiters. Unfortunately not outside. So the coffee was served outside by a young lady who clearly preferred not to come outside. What a grumpy face this lady had. All in all...not customer friendly. Very unfortunate!

Nice eatery in Breda near the Liesbos. This pleasantly surprised us, in terms of atmosphere but also in terms of food. A bit small parking lot, but that is the only downside

The beer was really nice, puur, and the friend who took care of us was very polite, thank you. I have a business with 5 tables and I earn enough to travel the world. If it were such a nice business, I think I would earn enough to go abroad😁

Recently had dinner at Restaurant de Peer in Breda and it was a great experience! The menu is extensive, with something for everyone, but you can also opt for a tasty satay or a hamburger. The wine was delicious and easy to drink. The service was friendly, professional and proactive, which created a pleasant atmosphere. All in all, a restaurant that I will definitely visit more often. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy themselves!

Tried to eat here last Saturday with three of us. Unfortunately left after the starter. We were put in one room with a large group. Because of the noise we couldn't have a conversation with each other. Because the restaurant was already full, the crew said there was no alternative. The crew was not very interested in helping us. On a second attempt I asked myself if there was another room. It turned out there was one, but sitting there was not actually an option because there were not enough staff. So we had the choice of staying put or leaving After consulting with table mates, we decided to leave because there was no way to enjoy the food and catch up. Then the option of the brasserie suddenly became possible. The crew had little interest in really thinking along with us. Agreed that the room where we were actually not suitable, but otherwise 🤷‍♂️ Did I already write that one of our table companions was sitting next to the swinging door of the kitchen? Super clumsy, which made it difficult to sit comfortably. Furthermore, the price/quality is poor. Obviously subjective. But in the center of a big city you eat for less money, better and with a nice and attentive crew.

The vegetarian burger that looked promising on the menu was disappointing. Was a sandwich with some lettuce and a veggie burger that was a bit tasteless. The fries were very tasty!

Just now. After a year or so of walking down the street again, I think let's have a cup of coffee at the pear, but I'm really not going to wait to see if I can please have a table. Delicious food, lots of choice on the packed lunch. The management has everything in order and there is peace. Maarten is a real host and shows that serving is more than just taking tables and serving drinks. It's great that he can remember what you ordered and then puts it on the table without asking. Then you see again that hosting is a real profession.
