The atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly, if a little slow. The real problem is that it's a far cry from Italian pizza. The pizza is very thin, and the ingredients are low-quality. The gluten-free pizza is inedible. The price is decidedly high for the quality. I'm sorry, but I won't recommend it, and I won't be back.

Who would've thought I would have to go to the Netherlands to get some of the best pizza I've ever had.

Yesterday, we went to De Pizzabakkers Herenstraat for dinner. And we’re so glad we chose this place! The pizza was absolutely delicious! The base was perfect not too thick, which made it light and really enjoyable to eat. Everything tasted fresh and flavourful. What I especially loved is that you can customize your pizza according to your own taste. You can choose exactly what you like and have a fresh pizza made just the way you want it. Without exaggeration, one of the tastiest pizzas I have ever had. I could easily eat two pizzas in a row at this place, it is that good.

A good concept! A real pizza oven with good pizza bakers. Friendly service and a tasty pizza. And something I personally really like: Chinotto! I had forgotten my reading glasses, but luckily they had a pair.

We ate here for the first time tonight before going to a concert. What a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. So far, it's the best pizza I've had in the Netherlands.

Ordered online from here during their open hours and after over an hour of waiting, we were told our order was cancelled without any reason even though the restaurant was still open. Terrible service, could have at least told us we weren’t getting our order without making us wait for an hour

Delicious pizza, more rustic than other chains

Went here with a friend and her two small kids. We ordered a few pizzas, some bruschetta, and Aperol Spritz. The food was good and came out at a comfortable pace. The kids were well entertained, which made the evening easy. Service was friendly and attentive. Cozy atmosphere and a nice choice for a relaxed, casual dinner.

Even after asking clearly, they don't understand what vegan means. I asked several times while ordering, and I still received a pizza with blue cheese... For me, it's a dietary preference, but if someone has an allergy, this is really not okay.

My girlfriend was celebrating her birthday and treated me to pizza. I usually go to Pizzeria Giuseppe at Herenstraat 33, which has delicious pizzas, pasta, desserts, and of course, ice cream. But this time at De Pizzabakkers Herenstraat, well, that was a wonderful change. I love Gorgonzola, among other things, and my pizza was generously topped with it. I couldn't finish my pizza, so I got a so-called "doggyback," so as soon as I got home, I popped a delicious Corrona in the microwave and enjoyed it. We also enjoyed an Italian beer in the restaurant. We were a bit late, so we had to place our order quickly. My dessert was a Tiramisu, which was truly delicious. The staff was friendly and the kitchen was fast. My girlfriend also had a delicious meal, and we recommend everyone to eat here at least once. Making a reservation in advance is definitely a must.

Lovely restaurant... authentic Italian drinks, good food, delicious focaccias as a starter, easy-going, great service, and a good vibe. In good weather, you can also sit outside for an aperitif, perhaps with a view of the Leidse Singel.

We had an excellent and pleasant dinner for four. The service was cheerful and helpful when needed. The atmosphere was great with an outside view of the Witte Singel and an inside view of the activity in the kitchen and the oven powered by burning wood. The food was even better than the service and atmosphere: excellent pizza's (two times Tonno alla puttanesca, two times Nduja and gorgonzola with extra salami, all four of great taste). To accompany the pizza we opted for the full-bodied Primitivo wine (from the Puglia region in the south of Italy, where incidentally two of us met for the first time) and one (non-alcoholic) refreshing Bloesem Power lemonade. Since the pizzas were quite sizeable (precisely the right size actually), for dessert we settled for two Gelato bambino ice creams and two Gelato al pistacchio, the latter with the unusual and surprisingly tasty addition of salt and olive oil! We left the restaurant satisfied and in good spirits.

I had the Caprese Pizza. Truly delicious. Excellent value for money. Friendly and welcoming staff! The patio on the Herenstraat side is a bit less appealing. Inside, it's atmospheric and cozy. I'll definitely be back!

If you have kids between 2-12, this place is a gem in the city. We come here monthly (if not more often), and the kids always have a great time. We also venture out after a run around the singel or just on a hot day, for an apperol and a lovely pizza slice. The oven is a huge vibe and really makes a difference!

Always a relaxed atmosphere with great service, and pizza as it should be: traditional ingredients and not too much cheese or grease dripping on top. It's fun to discover the variety in the pizza of the month.

Insanely delicious pizzas with a super thin base and crispy crust. We love coming here often, and it's perfect for us that we're out the door within an hour. If you want to linger, that's certainly possible. I do miss one thing: main course salads, as we like to share a pizza and salad. But that doesn't detract from the excellent menu and super friendly service.

Delicious pizzas and desserts, reasonable prices, a simple menu, yet pure and original, and everything you order is so delicious! The warm olives and nuts as a starter were a real surprise for us. My favorite dessert is definitely the pistachio ice cream! We've never been disappointed here. It's our regular date spot :)

Almost every Tuesday we have pizza before heading to the movies. It's a weekly treat, thanks in part to the enthusiastic staff, the delicious pizza with a crispy, thin crust, and the always cozy atmosphere. Whether we sit inside or outside. We hope to enjoy this "tradition" of movies and pizza for a long time to come.

We always have a wonderful meal at Pizzabakkers. This isn't just because of their delicious, original pizzas, but also because of the atmosphere the staff creates. We love to sit near the oven to see the artisanal baking process up close. It's a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere.

We came for a date and enjoyed the experience. The staff was accommodating and warm. They guided us through the (english) menu and recommended the pizza of the month; which was delicious. On a nice sunny day the front outdoor tables are lovely.

Best Pizza in Town, A pizza where everything is just right. Top ingredients, pure taste on your tongue! An incredibly delicious salami with fennel for my wife and a Coppa d'Abruzzo for me. No trace of burning but everything was beautifully cooked with a perfect texture. The dolce (in our case Tiramisu) is rare. After coffee from Buscaglione, what more could one wish for? A lovely relaxed atmosphere that we enjoyed and will definitely come back.

Best Pizza in Town, Een pizza waar alles gewoon aan klopt. Top ingrediënten puur smaak op je tong! Voor mijn vrouw een ongekend lekkere salami met venkel en voor mij een Coppa d’Abruzzo. Geen spoortje van een verbranding maar alles heel mooi gaar met een perfecte textuur. De dolce (in ons geval Tiramisu) zeldzaam goed. Koffie na van Buscaglione wat kan een mens zich meer wensen Een heerlijke ongedwongen sfeer waar wij hebben genoten en zeker terug komen.

When you come to pick up pizza; they easily make you wait 30 minutes. While you just agreed on a time. 35 euros for such service is a shame.

De beste pizza’s van Leiden. Heerlijke bodem en mooie ingrediënten als topping. Vriendelijke en attente bediening. De huisgemaakte limoncello (desgewenst in een Scroppino verwerkt) is een aanrader. Bovendien een gezellig plekje aan de singel.

The pizzas were delicious and the atmosphere was very nice. The employees are very polite and caring. I also liked that there were vegan and vegetarian signs on the menu. It would be nice if there was a non-alcoholic version of tiramisu.

I love this place! We ordered the burrata and the piccante e gorgonzola pizza and they were both amazing! The pizza felt so fresh, balanced and delicious, one of the best I've had. The service was also great, the waitress was super kind and very quick with our order. We'll definitely come back for more.

Pizza Caponata besteld. Geen caponata te bekennen op de pizza. Op navraag bij bediening: de pizza is gemarineerd in caponata. Toen ik erop wees dat op de kaart staat caponata, gaf bediening toe, dat dit inderdaad misleidend is. De bediening is top en de pizza was redelijk, maar het was zeker geen caponata pizza. De ijsthee was helaas te zoet. Helaas, maar voor mij geen terugkeer. Als je iets op de kaart zet, moet je dat als restaurant ook waarmaken.

Delicious three course meal! The service was very friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant. The food was also very tasty!

Food was good - as it was the last four times I have been here - but this one evening (07-10-24) the service was very odd and just left quite a bad taste. We waited just under an hour between ordering and the food arriving - which is not a problem; it happens, and was explained that there's delays because of a lot of (delivery?) orders at once. I work in Horeca too; its not any one person's fault - and we said as much. Then the order came wrong; again, it happens, and is not a big deal; (even though we talked about the options for a few minutes to make some veggie-based ajustments, so was explained multiple times). But the waitress' response was 'ah'. No, apology or basic courtesy. Just 'ah - do you want to see the dessert card'? Then, we overheard that the table next to us was offered free dessert as compensation for the (just under an hour) wait - they arrived and ordered slightly after us. No such offer for us, though, despite being the only other ones there, ordering first, and being entirely in earshot. Then when we tried to pay, she made sure the other waitress paid with us, and seemed to stared at us as we left (can't confirm this but seemed like it). I have absolutely no idea what we did to offend the waitress so much so as to treat us so differently to the table next to us - we made zero complaints and are both very polite by nature - but out of principle it's just not very nice at all. Maybe classic tip-seeking since the other table was obviously older? I have no idea, but its a real shame, as this used to be my go-to spot to catch up with friends over nice food :(
