Pizzeria Palermo in Binnenstad-Noord

Delicious pizzas and always sweet messages on the box, but now I'm really curious, how do you know my name? 😀

I ordered at Palermo through Thuisbezorgd, which then gave an estimate of 1h30 for the pizza to arrive 😩 So I called Palermo and explained that there were hungry kids in the house. The delivery then came quite quickly ☺️ thanks for the extra help! The pizzas were tasty too.

The best pizza in all of the Netherlands, we come all the way from Haarlem especially to get here.

Went in for dinner expecting pizza, left with several life lessons and a minor maritime experience. First, the payment surprise: card payment comes with a mystery 25-cent "fee" that nobody mentions until you're already handing over your card. When questioned, staff confirmed yes, it's a fee, as if that settled the matter. Bold pricing strategy, truly the "ask forgiveness, not permission" school of hospitality. The atmosphere deserves its own mention. The three owners watched us the entire time with the kind of suspicion usually reserved for people casing a jewelry store, not people ordering a pizza. We were also rushed through ordering everything at once, presumably so all four of us could be charged simultaneously, efficiency in service of the bottom line, apparently. Then came the food. We ordered three pizzas and a calzone; what arrived was a calzone doing its best impression of a water balloon. My friend cut into it and unleashed what can only be described as half a liter of liquid, he's since taken up diving as a hobby, purely out of muscle memory. The tomato sauce on the pizzas, meanwhile, seemed to be observing a strict intermittent fasting routine, i.e. mostly water with the occasional trace of tomato passing through. To top it off, we ordered a bruschetta and received a completely different dish instead, a plot twist nobody asked for. Two stars, generously, mostly for the swimming lessons.

A nice little restaurant; it seemed to me that their main business is delivery. However, we were still given a very warm welcome. It's a small place that's worth visiting. Good portions at a fair price.

This is really not normal. We ordered food, waited an hour and a half, received the wrong order, called politely to say they had received the wrong order, and then they started shouting down the phone about why we had accepted the order and refused to come up with a solution. Be glad I returned a more expensive order, otherwise you would have had to make it again. It is truly outrageous. I have never experienced anything like this before.

I have been ordering here for years and never had any problems. I received a wrong order and called politely about it, waiting for no less than 2 hours. I was then spoken to rudely by the owner asking why I was taking that order and he started shouting down the phone. I don't think this is normal; for 100 euros worth of food ordered, it is ridiculous.

A really sweet woman who immediately puts you at ease, and the food is delicious! I was unlucky enough to have an annoying gentleman come in who bothered me and felt the need to sit at my table. That wouldn't be a reason not to eat here again next time.

We sat down, waited, got the menus, waited for a long time again... nothing happened so we went to a different place :(

Had a delicious meal! I came all the way from another city specifically for this, and it was absolutely worth it. The pizza was perfectly baked: crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and full of flavor. You can really tell that attention to detail and quality went into it. The service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere in the place was very pleasant and cozy. Definitely a place I would love to return to. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good pizza!

The most delicious Sicilian pizza I have tasted in ages

Very pleasant couple cooking and serving. The lady was Russian and had arrived in Leiden many years before. She was talkative and cheerful.

This is the best pizza I've had in the Netherlands! It feels like I'm in a restaurant in Italy. The woman who prepares the food is a sweetheart and has amazing cooking skills. Highly recommended!

Hidden gem for sure. Came into an empty place but quickly filled up with locals, atmosphere is nice, food quality and quantity is amazing. Pasta and pizzas were both great and handled by authentic Nona and Nono, would return the next time we're back in Leiden.

Super delicious pizzas. There were seats, but they didn't have time to help. It's actually a takeout/pickup location where they have some chairs. Too bad, the food was quite good. Otherwise, it was all a bit dated. But the pizzas are delicious and the price is good.

The food is good and the staff is really friendly, although it's challenging to explain things in English. It seems to be more of a takeaway and delivery pizza restaurant, so there's plenty of space to eat inside. The place isn't air-conditioned, but we were able to eat well in the evening as the space was on the shady side of the building.

What a wonderful experience I had again at this charming pizzeria! The pizzas are truly delicious taste sensations, freshly prepared with love and attention. It is always a pleasure to come here, not only because of the food, but also because of the hospitality of the lovely people who work there. Today was extra special; the baker himself was beaming with joy, and it was contagious! I don't know if it was my presence, but his smile certainly added something magical to the atmosphere. All in all, this is a place where you can enjoy not only delicious pizza, but also the warmth and friendliness of the staff.

I have visited many places in the Netherlands, but I do not know any place better than the kindness of the Dutch lady and the Turkish owner here :) I was very happy and proud to have a small motivational sentence written on the pizza. I think it's more than 5 points. The pizza was delicious, my battery was low and they told me that I could safely charge my phone. Great. By the way, there is an extra fee for indoor service, so takeaway service is nice :)

I went after reading the Google reviews. Fortunately I came. Please don't be fooled by the decoration or the furniture. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Leiden. A restaurant run by a true artisan, a chef of Italian cuisine. The pizza and salad were delicious. A natural taste without exaggeration and all homemade. The service is provided by an extremely kind, helpful and smiling old lady. Thank you all and good luck.

Good pizzas from an Italian chef. It is also nice that you can look into the kitchen when you sit at the back of the restaurant. The decor is eclectic and atmospheric. The service is good and fast. The facilities are clean.

Pizza could be picked up after 20 minutes. Upon arrival, they only started making the pizza when I asked. Apparently helping the delivery people had priority.

Delivery very poor. Ordered at 6:45 PM on a Tuesday evening. Finally had my pizza at 9:00 PM(!!). Called in between and I "just had to be patient".

Already the 2nd time with such an experience, the first time I had to wait 2.5 hours for 3 pizzas. Then I was told the weather was bad. Still, I wanted to give it another chance, again ordered 3 pizzas in advance, called to see if it was busy and the lady said it was quiet. 1.5 hours later I got my food, 2 pizzas looked good but 1 (see photo) looked like a pizza soup and that for almost 17 euros for 1 pizza. I won't come here anymore and I don't recommend it to everyone. Domino is much better and you get good food even faster

Been waiting for 3 pizzas for 2 hours. This is the second time it has taken so long. After calling to ask why it is taking so long, we are not answered properly and we are told "it's cold outside so delivery people don't want to drive" This is not what we are used to but it is the last time!!!

We have ordered pizzas for the first time and I am amazed!!! The flavor is incredible, and a very important thing to me, they have the perfect amount of salt. In other places I find them too salty but here they're just perfect! From now on, my option Number 1, I could not stop eating! Congratulations!

Ik heb meerdere keren besteld via Thuisbezorgd. De Palermo pizza is amazing en ze schrijven altijd iets op de doos, wat zorgt voor een lach op mijn gezicht. Ik zal hier blijven bestellen en het aan iedereen aanbevelen! :)

Vanavond een heerlijke pizza (royaal belegd!) afgehaald om onderweg op te eten. Een gezellig praatje terwijl we wachtten en de pizza werd alvast voor ons in stukken gesneden. Een lieve boodschap op de doos en servetjes erbij. Topservice!

Het eten was lekker maar er was wat verwarring dus ik kreeg niet de bestelling die ik wilde. Ik kon een nieuwe krijgen maar had teveel honger dus heb m alsnog gegeten. Vriendelijk personeel en toch lekker gegeten. Als ik in de buurt ben kom ik zeker terug.

We vielen spontaan binnen met 7 personen op een zaterdag. Er was plek en er werd uitstekend voor ons gezorgd. Het eten was erg lekker, echt Italiaans, en de kinderen vonden het zelfs de lekkerste pizza ooit! Aardige mensen werken er.

Eten was heerlijk en snel bezorgd, ook was de mevrouw aan de telefoon zeer vriendelijk!

Goed ontvangst, lieve mensen. Wij kunnen veel kletsen en lachen. Lekker pizza's ín Leiden en omgeving.
