Had lunch with my son and daughter-in-law. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly. Perhaps they should be a little more attentive when the drinks are finished. The atmosphere is okay. The space is large, making it difficult to create a pleasant atmosphere. Well worth it.

If you think, "You don't need to write a review about satay," and realize it with the first bite: this is delicious (and review-worthy)! A quick bite to eat at De Vrienden before the movie was a success. Deliciously tender pork tenderloin with flavorful satay and fries. My dinner companion also enjoyed her Caesar salad, with plenty of greens, of course, but also substantial chunks of crispy chicken breast. A delicious mocktail and we were ready to go to the movie 😃👍🏻

We're spending a weekend away from the north to the south. We quickly googled a nice restaurant in Heerlen and found it with friends. Friendly staff, excellent service. The food was excellent, simply delicious! If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back!

Service was a solid 10, friendly, non-intrusive, and fast. The food was excellent, the spareribs were delicious and perfectly glazed. The pickles were also delicious. They called to say the reservation time wasn't working and asked if there was a reason for the early dinner. They were very helpful and handled everything perfectly.

So far, we've always enjoyed our meal, and it's been great. We made a reservation last Sunday with our grandson before a theater visit. To our surprise, we couldn't eat from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. It would have saved a lot of frustration if this had been announced on the website.

Had a very good lunch for a reasonable price. Wide selection of beers. Service was fast and friendly.

Between 4 and 5 pm kitchen closed for lunch or dinner then you will have to wait an hour before you can order anything 😅 so that should definitely be improved. Otherwise a super nice place with delicious food.

We've been here twice in a row now, and it's the last time. The first time, it took 15 minutes before someone finally came to ask if we'd like a drink. We were about to get up but stayed because we were quite hungry. The food wasn't anything special. The second time, we were with a group of four. Again, it took 10 minutes before someone asked what we'd like to drink. We were hungry, so we immediately asked for the menu. By the time the overly friendly waitress brought our drinks, we'd made our choice and immediately ordered it. From that point on, it took an hour and a half before anything came to the table. And then, to top it all off, they forgot the fries. "They'll be right out," said the bartender, who was meanwhile joking around with a couple of young women enjoying drinks at a nearby table. We'd all finished eating, and the fries never arrived... until we mentioned it, after someone finally looked our way... I think it's a disgrace... unfortunately, because I always used to enjoy going there!

A wonderful place for a delicious lunch. The onion soup and goulash soup are highly recommended.

We had a wonderful dinner, and all for a price we'd happily return for. Keep it up, because for some, the price of the dishes has gotten to their heads and it's no longer fun to spend that much. With our friends, it was perfectly fine, and the eight of us agreed wholeheartedly. As mentioned, the dishes were all mouthwatering, and the service was friendly and attentive. A real winner. One point... the music could be a bit quieter, as it makes people talk louder, and it gets a bit too noisy.

The sound reverberates intensely in the room on the left. Conversing with others at the table is impossible when there's a group present.

The food was tasty, but we had to wait 45 minutes for it (burger and a carpaccio). That was a shame and could be better😉👍

Extremely unfriendly staff! We arrived around 4:45 PM looking for a bite to eat. The two of us walked in and asked the staff if there was anywhere to sit down. We were rudely told that the kitchen wouldn't open until 5 PM. Then they turned their backs on us and the staff happily stood at the bar, chatting and laughing amongst themselves. Absolutely rude! It would have been much friendlier if they'd told us we could just sit down somewhere for a drink and that they'd bring the menu to us at 5 PM. Then we definitely would have stayed. Unfortunately, I can't say enough good things about it!

The menu needs more attention. The shrimp were very tough, which should never happen and wasn't necessary. The onion soup was excellent. The service was excellent. The complaint has been passed on to the kitchen.

The food in de Vrienden is really good. It was completely full when we were there on a Wednesday afternoon. We had chicken burger and pasta scampi. They were both delicious! They gave very generous amount of shrimps in my pasta.

We had a great meal, great service, etc. But, oh my gosh, I went to the restroom and there was this guy behind the bar, phone in hand, peeing. He then walked away without washing his hands and went back behind the bar. Yuck! (The one with the ponytail/longer hair)

We had a very good platter. Eating inside and drinking outside was no problem at all. Drinks were brought to the table quickly, the staff was friendly, and the drinks were of good quality. I don't understand the strange comments from some people here (whining just for the sake of it). See you soon again.

We came here last night because it was the only place with free tables. Great beer and a nice location. We returned this evening for lunch and it exceeded our expectations. The sandwiches were tasty and fairly priced at €9.50 and €10. Cocktails were also well priced at €6.50 to €7.50 with a good amount of alcohol. We definitely felt it was worth the price. Everything was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive. If you are worried about speaking English like we were, don’t be. They speak it without any problem since our Dutch is a bit broken haha.

Super adequate and attentive staff. No fuss. Correct and direct. But... the burata was served too cold and was taken back to the kitchen when I said so. This tastes better when it is at room temperature. According to the chef it had to be served and eaten cold, so it came out of the kitchen too cold the second time. That's a shame. A missed opportunity. Otherwise great food.

We were there with a group. Food was ok, service average. Having to pay an extra of 3x 7 € for some extra bread (given for free in most restaurants) for a table of some 10 people was not much appreciated, considering the total amount we paid for food and several drinks per person.

Nice place where you can also eat good and tasty vegetarian and vegan food

The salad with pork tenderloin tips was surprising. Tasty and well-flavoured and balanced. Nice beers on tap, local brands. The atmosphere is good at the market and a wide choice of restaurants. Our eye fell for this salad. But there is enough choice for something else. We will come back again when we are in the area.

We are usually going there for some drinks or food but apparently today one of the workers with a long beard, didn’t want to switch to english then asked us for an ID. My friend showed him a physical ID but I didn’t have with me so tried to show him a picture of it but he didn’t want to serve us. Even though I mentioned that we are visiting the place often, and we are 30-32 years old. Such a compliment to being asked for an ID but very rude that he didn’t want to serve us. :/

It was Liberation Day, still staff can manage the crowd skillfully. Our breads are delicious. We enjoyed the music and the spirit.

What a cozy and nice restaurant. Cozy decorated and the food is delicious. Service is very friendly. We sat inside because the weather was nice and the terrace was full. It is wise to make a reservation. Nice atmosphere on the square. Tip, delicious Angus burger sandwiches with delicious thick fries!

Bad thing, not friendly staff. Don't think along. The table reserved with children turned out to be a high table. The child's chair therefore did not reach the table. Initially I wanted to make a reservation outside, but this was not possible. Went again today. Would like to order something to eat on the terrace. This is not possible because it is too busy. Bad service again.

UPDATE: Enjoyed today on the terrace. Carpaccio was delicious and large portion. The Friends Burger was also delicious. The crème brule is also recommended. Service was also great, despite it being packed. Definitely come back again! Had to wait twice before and dropped out. Now made double and straight!

Yesterday with 12 colleagues spontaneously the idea to have lunch and to enjoy the sun on your terrace during the afternoon break. The terrace was quite quiet (empty) and we were soon able to push 3 tables together. A little later we were asked if we had made a reservation? No, this was spontaneous, but we were immediately told in a very inhospitable way that we could not eat anything with this large group! Bizarre, and we politely declined for just a drink. Apparently they did not feel like collecting our money. We then walked to Zwart Goud and were received there as they should. Too bad about De Vrienden, because that is not how you make friends with the business world.

Responded quickly to the email for the reservation. Nice table on the terrace. Extensive menu with vegetarian and vegan dishes. Friendly service! Clean toilets, which is also important.

Let's start with the positive: the beer is fine and the atmosphere too. The food is nothing special but okay for a cafe. However, the service is extremely annoying: every time someone else comes to your table and every five minutes they come and ask if you want something else to drink. We almost said 'fuck off' but we left it at that we indicated ourselves if we wanted to order something else.

We had a nice networking drink organized by Ondernemersfonds Heerlen. Nice location, cozy atmosphere and friendly service.

Goulash soup and dessert were delicious! But for the pasta scampi I would really look for better scampi and a different recipe... very unfortunate! It was really inedible :(

Don't have pasta with scampi! Tastes differ, but this was really not tasty. Shrimp had been swimming for many hours (tough, tough) and pasta was cold. When clearing the table, they didn't even bother to ask why it wasn't okay. We're not going to be friends.

We ate there last night and all the tables inside were full so we ate outside. We were served by Nico, a super friendly, likeable man who also speaks German. (We were impressed by your beard even after dinner.) The food was really great, two of us had the game goulash, which was so tender that it almost fell apart. My colleague, who has just returned from Budapest, said the goulash was better than any goulash he had eaten in Hungary. I had the special burger, I can only recommend it. I like to eat burgers sometimes, but this was honestly the best burger I've had so far. The beer menu is very long, there is really a huge selection.

We hebben een heerlijke avond gehad met onze familie. Het eten was heerlijk en de bediening was top. Voor de kleinkinderen hadden ze zelfs cadeautjes na afloop klaar liggen, omdat sinterklaas uiteraard in het land is. Héél attent Wij kunnen dit restaurant met vertrouwen aanbevelen!

Nice place for lunch, dinner or a nice drink. I'm there regularly and have never been disappointed so far. My favorite dinner is the pasta scampi, definitely worth a try!

Passing through with my friend for an important appointment and found this gem. Super easy to reach. Very good food and lots of fun. The burgers were really the tastiest we had ever eaten and that says something if you have also been to Hamburg (the city known for its burgers and schnitzels, among other things)! And it also makes our wallet happy, it can always be expensive at restaurants these days, but here it is affordable. Declared our new regular spot when we are in the area! A big golden 10.

So on a beautiful autumn day you instruct(?) the staff to keep the part of the terrace that is in the sun closed and to scare away the people who have already sat there (because it is not indicated at all) with a smart-aleck comment. . And then wonder why business will decline and a restart will have to be made in a while. The success of catering is largely based on service and customer friendliness of your staff (in addition to location and quality of food). Lost a faithful and loyal customer due to a poorly trained on-call employee... Too bad.

Een gezellig restaurant waar je in een ongedwongen sfeer kunt eten. Het restaurant heeft een verwarmd terras. Wij gingen er naartoe vanwege het Limburgse zuurvlees ( zoervleisj). Die was superlekker, maar ook de goulashsoep was erg lekker!

My friend and I arrived just after opening time and took a seat in the restaurant. Unfortunately, we were not helped for fifteen minutes, despite the staff looking at us several times. We found this very disappointing. When we finally decided to leave, still nothing was said or done by the staff. The service here really left a lot to be desired.

Cafe de Vrienden has a very pleasant staff, a good atmosphere and perfect price-quality ratio. This is my new favorite pub, this is truly a catering industry.
