Beautiful large terrace. The best part is joining the free guided tour of the tower. It tells an interesting story about the history of the tower and of Zutphen, but the story about the bell foundry is particularly special.

The food was very tasty. We love coming here (back). We opted for the Italian tasting menu… since we had just returned from Sardinia. The only minor point is that we found the tiramisu a bit dry and couldn't taste the coffee as much.

We had a super delicious meal. I had the truffle pasta, which could also be made with spaghetti at my request. My husband had the rib eye, which was also very tasty. We shared a delicious starter. The wine was very good and nice and cold, which is often not the case. We will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu.

On the busy Saturday afternoon, we had a carpaccio sandwich and 2 croquettes with bread. It was all fine, but I was shocked by the price of a half-liter of Weizen.. It’s getting ridiculous in the Netherlands.. The hospitality industry is screwing itself over (because of the government), but that is just my personal opinion... As I said before, the food was fine..

We had a delicious meal, a (goat cheese) meal salad and red snapper fillet, on a charming square. Friendly service.

We were sitting on a terrace, but the service was uninterested. After waiting 15 minutes, we just moved to another terrace. They are clearly taking advantage of the historic building. No idea if the food is good.

Super beautiful building, very nice atmosphere, nicely decorated and plenty of seating. The service was amazing, very sweet ladies who are very hospitable. Really managed to unwind. The food wasn't quite to our taste. The zucchini soup tasted very bland and was supposed to contain salmon, but there was very little of it. In short, a beautiful place with nice people, but not the best food.

Nice and cozy atmosphere, also open on Mondays, excellent quality food, and the location is of course phenomenal!!! So, highly recommended!

Friendly and very cheerful staff

My sister and I ordered the antipasti misti as a shared starter. A platter full of tasty Italian delicacies – or so we hoped. It was a huge disappointment. The bruschetta was made with soft baguette, cherry tomatoes, parsley (?), and grated cheese from a packet. I have never eaten such an unappetizing “bruschetta.” Unfortunately, the rest of the food on the platter was also disappointing (the aioli was greasy mayonnaise with green bits in it), after which we decided to pay immediately. By the way, they charge €35 for this starter. The staff was friendly, but when we brought this up, they were completely at a loss and immediately shoved the bill under our noses. So, unfortunately, not recommended.

We had a wonderful meal at De Wijnhuistoren in Zutphen! We opted for an Italian tasting and started with a lovely wine and a table full of antipasti: risotto balls, calamari, carpaccio, and vitello tonnato. This was followed by a creamy risotto, perfectly cooked sea bass, and a tender piece of meat, finishing with a delicious tiramisu. The service was quick and very friendly all evening.

The drinks were delicious and delivered quickly. After spending around €300, we were asked to be "quieter," even though everyone else was just as loud. This ruined the atmosphere, so we left. The rest of the service was great and they even laughed along with us – the rest was acceptable. We can't comment on the food since we didn't eat anything. The woman who greeted guests didn't understand each other and made a distinction between German and Dutch.

Had the same experience as Emiel Berends; just the two of us and no reservation, when we asked if we could use one of the empty tables, we weren't told because there were three chairs standing there. This was our second time here now, and it was also our last; what a worthless place with equally worthless staff.

Right in the city center, directly on the market square. Reasonable prices and delicious food. Very friendly and attentive staff. You can sit in the sun or in the shade. There's something for everyone.

We had a great meal here. This is certainly not the cheapest place to eat, and that isn't necessary at this beautiful location. However, part of this advantage is missing when sitting on the terrace. They do often have a nice "daytime" special for lunch, though, which is definitely worth checking out. I recommend definitely taking a look inside if you get the chance! The service was very friendly and attentive. We will certainly come back for dinner.

My wife and I wanted to have lunch here. When we entered, a young woman (Lie) approached us and immediately told us there was no room for us. I then pointed her to an empty table by the window, which didn't even have a reservation. "No, that table is only available for a minimum of three people," she told me. She saw that three people were sitting outside discussing whether or not to go in. These three people left simultaneously while we also went outside. While we were still outside discussing whether to go elsewhere for lunch, two other people went in. They didn't return, so I went to ask the young waitress in question. When I got inside, I saw the two people sitting at the table in question! This, even though we had already been sent away. The owner came over and very rudely and bluntly said, "Unfortunately, happy new year!" I'm never going back here...they still have a lot to learn, unfortunately.

Great place! I'd love to come back. The service was attentive, efficient, and above all, very friendly! The food was delicious. Not cheap, but excellent value.

We had a delicious meal here last night, chicken breast and risotto. Large portions, a beautifully presented plate with extras like beetroot chips (which came with the chicken breast). The grilled vegetables were fresh and delicious, and again, a generous portion. Delicious fries. The service was very friendly, and everything flowed smoothly. We wanted to share a cheesecake and, to our surprise, each received a small plate with half a cheesecake, whipped cream, and garnishes. A nice change from just a knife saying, "Cut it yourself." We thoroughly enjoyed it!

The tower was open for tours, but unfortunately not anymore.. 😞

We wanted to sit here for a bit. But all the tables on the left side of the winery tower were reserved. We sat on the terrace at Ephesus. After an hour, I went back to check on the reserved tables at the winery. And? Everything was still available. Stupid, you cheated your organization out of a few euros. We could have easily stayed for another hour. What a disgrace. This illogicality... The owner even popped around the corner. "We're not going to do this with him." What exactly are we not going to do? You didn't even know what it was about...

Delicious food and so much of it! We had the three-course meal for two. It was very tasty, and the portions would have been enough for three! The service was excellent and friendly.

I can't recommend Wijnhuistoren. The place is more show than substance. We were there around 7 p.m. in the evening, and it wasn't crowded. The table was decorated with plastic flowers from Ikea (really sad for the Netherlands) and a completely dirty lamp; the restroom was neither well-maintained nor clean. The waitresses (four young women) kept walking past us without paying any attention. After I spoke to them, I was finally able to order. The food was also a total disaster, completely overpriced. With a burger for €21, you have to add fries for an outrageous €6. This applies to every main course, by the way; every side (spaghetti with oil and garlic, fries, a dollop of potato gratin, or a mini side salad) costs €6 extra! We ordered the Pizza Stagioni for €18.50 each and bread with dips for €8.50. The pizza tasted like a piece of cardboard. The crust was thin, dry, and tasted of nothing. The salami had a strange red color, and the grease was all over the pizza. Since I only ate half the pizza because of the appetizer, I wanted to take the rest with me (understandable given the price). I then asked for the rest to be packed with Google Translate. When I went to pay, I asked for my pizza, and the waitress said she'd misunderstood me and thrown it away. I felt really ripped off. Can you pack the rest for me? Even as a German, that doesn't sound like throwing it away!! No apology, no discount, and no replacement. We ended up paying €65.50 for this incredibly poor service and will definitely not be coming back!

We ate here in August 2025. The pasta aglio e olio as a side dish for 6 euros was a very good find.

A beautiful place, not only historic but also picturesque. Ideal for a stop for lunch and to recharge your batteries. I recommend the chicken sandwich.

While I wish them all the best, the food just wasn't great. A pizza with a strange crust and no tomato sauce, with a kilo of cheese to replace it. A big fail for the food. Everything else was fine.

A glass of fresh juice, a mini glass, tasted watery served in a boring glass for 5.50. A club sandwich "Wijnhuistoren" for 16.90. You expect something from that... It took forever, and then a boring roll arrived with a slice of hotel cheese, some chicken breast slices, and even a crispy slice of bacon. Unimaginative and nothing special. Very disappointing.

Only a quick stop for coffee and tea but it was a pleasant experience all round. Looked well kept and food seemed amazing from what other tables ordered. Toilets were old but clean and private. Very steep stairs but i noticed a wheelchairramp.

On the occasion of the Walking Concert on July 27, 2025, I listened to a carillon concert by Japanese carillonneur Eriko Matsumara in a nearby courtyard. Beautiful and cheerful works by Michio Miyagi, Kazufumi Miyazawa, Joe Hisaishi, and Kees van Eersel.

Truly awful. Endless waits. No words for the waitresses... so rude and uninterested. Tourist food.

Very warm inside but the food and service were fantastic

We had to wait 1.5 hours for our main dish to arrive, it felt like we were being put last on the list because other people around us got their things first just because there were less people than our table, which was a group of like 10. Even though we all had chosen duplicated meals, and requested 2 tables so 1 table could've been served earlier I think we could've eaten way sooner that we actually have. The service could've been way better, in the meantime they could've come up to us and request us to get some drink, but they just said that they were working on it. I know that the restaurant was pretty full, but waiting for our main dish for over 45 minutes to an hour is a really long time.

Had to wait a long time and pay quite a bit for food that was painfully mediocre

We waited over an hour after finishing our starter for our main course, no one apologized for it and we were very angry. All the tables had finished their meals, and when ours finally came, some were forgotten, and the quality of the food was very poor. The food was bad, and the people were even worse.

Food was surprisingly good! Only the service doesn't really have it in the fingers, or the empty glass detection was broken….,.

Sat comfortably on the high bench and enjoyed watching the people walking by. The beer and the night were delicious.

Today we spontaneously had lunch at the Wijnhuistoren. We were hungry and went into the first restaurant we saw. Zutphen was unknown to us. Lunch was more than excellent and the service deserves more than 5 stars. Very nice young lady, very attentive, smooth and empathetic. You would like to see them more often. Nice spot in Zutphen and friendly staff. Unfortunately, I found a fly in my salad and asked to report it to the kitchen. Unfortunately, they ignored it and didn't compensate me.

Fantastic restaurant. I came mainly because I liked the building. But the food was also absolutely top-notch. I had Pizza Bianca. It was like an angel peeing on my tongue. The service was very friendly and very fast. The atmosphere was very cozy. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something special in Zutphen.

We hadden per mail een offerte opgevraagd voor een diner voor 15 personen. Ons werd als ruimte de torenkamer voorgesteld, we werden uitgenodigd deze te komen bekijken. Gisteren werden we hartelijk ontvangen door iemand van het personeel. Terwijl we in de torenkamer met haar de mogelijkheden doornamen, werd de deur ineens opengerukt en snauwde een man die wij bij binnenkomst al hadden gezien maar die ons had genegeerd: "Dit kan echt niet, het is hartstikke druk beneden!" De man bleek de eigenaar te zijn. De medewerkster begon zich meteen te verontschuldigen en zei dat ze echt naar beneden moest. Wjj zijn vervolgens weggegaan en hebben afgezien van de lunch die we wilde nuttigen. Ook zien we ervan af om bij de Wijnhuistoren te gaan dineren met 15 personen. De manier waarop de eigenaar ons en de medewerkster aansprak kan gewoon echt niet. Bovendien zijn wij (ook) gasten en was de medewerkster dus gewoon aan het werk. Je zou natuurlijk kunnen zeggen; waarom ga je dan op een zaterdagmiddag? Misschien omdat wij beiden werken? En dus alleen in het weekend kunnen? Dan nog rechtvaardigt het niet het gedrag van deze arrogante kerel. Je zal er maar werken. Ons zien ze er in ieder geval nooit meer!

Have been coming here for a well-prepared lunch for several years. This time a Black Angus burger with farmer's brown bread. Recommended. Good ambiance. Excellent food and nice, friendly service. We had a very nice evening. The service was good. The wine was delicious and the food tasted great! We ordered side dishes, but in principle the dishes are sufficient. Portions are quite large.

Lekkere lunchspecial hier gehad. Kroketten met brood en een koffie. Alles is netjes verzorgd en de bediening is vriendelijk. En dat alles voor een prima prijs.

The Wijnhuistoren restaurant in the center of Zutphen participates in wild food in the Achterhoek. In mid-December 2025 we took the game menu in this restaurant and enjoyed it. The menu was well composed and the recommended 'wild wine', a Primitivo from Puglia, was good company. The service was young and friendly. The centuries-old Wijnhuistoren is an attractive location.

I don't often write a negative review, but what we experienced here really has to get off my chest: Sunday afternoon during the Christmas market we sat down here to have lunch with 5 ladies and a baby. We could only sit at a small table because it was full, no problem at all. Because we were close to the kitchen and bar, we were a bit in the way of the service. Further on a group of people left at a table with enough space for us. We asked the lady in the service if we could move, that was fine. When we were already halfway up we heard from an older gentleman in the service that it was not allowed because it was reserved. Surprised we asked someone from the service again, we didn't understand it anymore. The girl consulted with her colleagues and said again that we could sit there, she quickly cleaned the table for us. At that moment the angry older gentleman in the service came to my mother and said loudly and very derogatory "I have already said 3 times that you are not allowed to sit here". We were all shaking with anger and disbelief, what a terribly nasty man. The rest of the guests were also stunned. It could be that there was miscommunication among the service staff, but certainly no reason to talk to guests like that. We only paid for our drinks and cancelled the sandwiches (which he also did not like). Of course, we are not going to be scolded in a full restaurant 😀. We will not soon forget this experience! So I can't say anything about the food, we didn't get that far.

It looks cozy and attractive from the outside. Upon arrival we were briefly greeted with the question of what we were doing. We wanted to have a drink, at least not eat/dinner, at most we were thinking of a drink but didn't say so. This was on a Sunday afternoon around 4:20. Shortly after us, a couple came in and left without ordering. Upon our departure we were politely said goodbye by the staff around 4.45 pm. There were 2 tables occupied on our side, 2 ladies walked by regularly and there was a young man behind the bar. We left because no one came to us to take an order. At the next restaurant/cafe we ​​met the same couple who had left earlier, they also wanted a drink at the Wijnhustoren and that was not possible because the kitchen is closed at 4:30 PM. Perhaps a tip is to mention the time on the menu that a drink is no longer possible after 4:30 PM. We ended our afternoon elsewhere with friendly and pleasant service and a tasty snack board.

A nice looking place, very friendly staff, delicious wine, and food that is mediocrely prepared. The pizza had a strange yellowish base and was small, with hardly any heat blisters. As if the dough was way too wet or too much oil had been added. In any case, the result was more matzer than a pizza base. This absolutely did not justify the almost 20 euros. Chicken with spinach contained no spinach. This despite the fact that the quality of the ingredients was high. Back on the terrace this summer, but we won't go for dinner anymore. I really recommend looking critically at your own food; to take a trip to Naples and get to grips with Italian food. All the ingredients for a great restaurant are there.

Just had a quick drink. I thought it was quite pricey for a simpler specialty beer. But I'm not complaining about that. Perhaps because it was Tuesday, our service was a little less cheerful. The atmosphere was therefore hard to find.

Pizza from €18.00. Bottom flat and looked like a ready-made bottom. No cheese on the pizza. Really not recommended! Chicken where the promised chestnut mushrooms and olives are hard to come by. There was 1 mushroom and 1 olive in the dish….

Mooie locatie maar wat een vieze toiletten. Aangegeven aan de bediening maar bij een 2e bezoek van mijn partner was er niets aan gedaan. Diner slaan we daarom over.

Had a nice lunch with 6 people. Everything was well taken care of. Extra attention and options for a gluten-free guest! Top. We were regularly asked if everything was satisfactory and if anyone wanted anything else. Points of criticism: A warm goat cheese sandwich was ordered, but brie was served (it was also vegetarian, just eaten, tasted great). The iced coffee contained very large lumps of ice, if finely crushed it would turn a regular iced coffee into a great iced coffee, because the taste was great and the whipped cream was great! I had a club sandwich 'winery tower' which lacked some creaminess for my taste.

While you eat your pizza or hamburger, you can watch what's happening on the square - we professionally dismantled the market and set up the outdoor catering area. Local and tourist interests are not played off against each other here. Nice atmosphere, delicious food, good service!

Een mooie locatie. We hebben er lekker buiten gezeten. Het personeel is vriendelijk en de drankjes werden snel gebracht. We hebben er niet gegeten, maar wat ik zag op andere borden zag er goed uit.

Located in a beautiful building, in the even more beautiful center of Zutphen. They have a fairly extensive lunch menu. The service is neat. The food was also good, but not very special. The appearance of the building and its furnishings created expectations that were not fully met. Nevertheless, we had a good lunch there. It simply wasn't very special.

Haven't been here in a while, but not a place to go again anytime soon. Quality/price ratio has not improved. With the price of these dishes, you can expect a few more extras on your plate. Unfortunately, you have to pay 5 euros extra per dish for a salad or fries. It was also disturbing that people sat next to us and let their dog sit at the table, so just on the chair. Personally a bit disturbing.

We had high expectations in advance. The location is very nice and the map on the site also seemed to be very good. It says that they are 100% real Italian dishes. It is indeed based on Italian dishes, unfortunately it didn't taste like that. I had spaghetti where it was clear that the tomatoes came from a can. The sauce had no taste. To be honest, I would have preferred to cook at home. We could get a coffee on the house when I indicated this. But they came to tell us this after we had just indicated that we no longer needed anything. Nothing else was done about it. A waste of money and a place that we now know we don't have to go to anymore unfortunately.
