Horrible bouncer at the door. He thought one of the six friends in our group had had too much to drink and roughly dragged her out of the bar (she hadn't had too much to drink at all). I see there are many similar stories—I would skip this bar.

Watch out when you leave here. They put 109 euros instead of 19 euros when you use your debit card. Like, "Oops, mistake." What a bunch of characters.

On the always lively Witte de Withstraat, this spot has been a favorite for years. A no-nonsense bar with friendly staff and good music.

Met some great people in the bar when I visited Tuesday (12/08/25) and even connected with them on socials, I am English but people there was happy to teach me Dutch and speak English to me, the bar staff are amazing, great music and even the security guard on that night was amazing, checked my ID and considering it was a British passport he completed it very quick and wished me a good night, definitely will visit again when I am back next month and also in October when I come back again.

The White Monkey. A Rotterdam institution. The service is excellent. It's open until late. The seating is well-arranged, and the lighting is atmospheric.

Cozy tent, when I enter it feels like something dirty is floating through the air. All in all a simple bar. Music is your typical marquee music.

The DJ on Friday could just as well have been at the campsite in Kamperland. It's really that bad. A typical "camping DJ". Previous times it was quite good, hence the 3 stars, but today (Friday) it was really dramatically bad.

Great variety of all sorts of beers, from IPA, blonde to dark-anything you like. Also the wine menu is quite alright, prices are very fair aswell. Important side note: you should definitely try the vegan (!!!) bitterballen plus mustard with your drink!

Bar policy forces you to buy a drink. Even if you just accompany friends

Unfortunately, I was the victim of theft while at your establishment. I immediately reported the incident to the security personnel at the door, but was disappointed to find that no action was taken beyond suggesting that someone charge my phone so I could use my virtual key card to access my apartment. I find this response to be unacceptable. The lack of proactive measures from your security team left me feeling unsafe and unsupported. Given this experience, I would not recommend your bar to others due to the apparent security concerns. We weren't allowed to take a felt pad and then he hit a friend of mine

Every time I'm in Rotterdam this is my regular bar. Food 4 stars although I've never eaten there or even know if they serve anything other than nuts.

I couldn't feel the welcoming vibe. Unfortunately, I forgot my jacket(almost new) there and didn't get it back when I went back after an hour. Never been such experience in Holland. I expect that there should be a cctv which can help me getting it back. Thanks in advance!

Racism, He said it to me directly Syrian But then with my group (white enough to deal with them) went out because of me , they started to say just come in.

Racist people at the door. Do not go. We went as a group of friends and they checked our ids but one of our friends wasn’t allowed in because he was from Siria. He talked to everyone we could working there and they kept discriminating our friend. I will never go in again and I recommend you do the same.

It's a great place and I've been visiting it every holiday for a year. Today I was surprised at the gate when the security officer did not allow me to enter, and the reason was that I am (Syrian). I am a respectful and well-mannered person and I have never bothered anyone in all my visits. An entire people cannot be banned or punished because of the abuse of some individuals. I don't think you are racist people, but what is this behavior?!!! 😓😓😓😓😓

The bouncer was extremely rude and violent. We showed him the transaction that we did an hour ago at this place but he would not let us in. Even though he let a random guy in and did not ask for anything. Terrible service. Would not recommend for a girls night out.

Used to be better. Door policy is crazy, asking for ID to 35+ years people only to reject them. This bar still thinks they are special. While they are has beens. Place is always crowdy and it stinks. Avoid.

I haven't been going for some time now because of the arrogant behavior of many bar staff. Already written a review about it. We made an attempt yesterday with a large group of colleagues from EMC. Upon arrival, very nasty and personal treatment from the bouncer. I have no words for it and I really think it needs to be addressed. As far as I know, bouncers provide a safe atmosphere. Unfriendly staff not recommended

After spending hundreds of euros on the terrace, we were sent inside because the terrace was closing. We were a group of 5 and 1 person was not allowed in because he had had too much to drink according to security. This was absolutely not the case and when we pointed this out we were pushed very aggressively by the security guard and thrown out of the terrace. This really didn't make any sense.

Cosy bar with friendly people, poltie staff and cold beers. The only downside is, that the draught beer comes in the pint glass for kids (330 ml)

Racist institution with rude staff that clearly have double standards for their customers based on skin colour. I wouldn’t recommend going.

Very relaxed atmosphere and superb beer selection (see beer list photo). Lots of outdoor seating which is covered and had heaters. Table service was available but I ordered from the bar. Some snacks available. Would highly recommend for the very good beers.

YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE AS A THIRTY-UPS / BELGIAN / BACHELOR PARTY. We came here on Saturday evening with fourteen women to do some dancing for a bachelor party, but apparently we were not young/beautiful enough for this shack, because we had not even been inside for 3 minutes (and had not even ordered anything) when we were immediately thrown at the door with the excuse that a bachelor party was not allowed to take place. The only thing that distinguished us from other people was a simple ribbon that the bride wore, but otherwise we came here just like others to drink and dance. However, we were not allowed to do so. Super unfriendly staff. Never experienced anything like this before. A little further on, in Bierboutique, we were fortunately welcomed with open arms.

Had a beer here on the terrace once. Forgotten bag of books. Then I called and was told that they had found the bag and that I could come pick it up. When I came to pick it up they had thrown it away because they were “not a warehouse”.

Very bad. Drinking a beer at the bar all evening. Then ordered 1 tripel but was offered tripel karmeliet in a cola glass. Disagree and made it known and then sent out of the tent by an aggressive bouncer. Very childish and unnecessary. Poor tent.

If you order a special beer at half past ten, you will receive a coke glass. If you say can I have normal glass, you will be scolded and thrown out

Indeed the exception in the Witte de With street in Rotterdam. Just a good pub with staff who understand what hospitality means. No nonsense, just Rotterdam style, as it should be. Beers are tasty, snacks are fine. Nice address!!!

I was there the day before with my 51 yrs old father. All was very nice. Now tonight, the doorman say my father had too many to drink. But he didnt even have one glass of alcohol. We are staying for 30 days just across the street. But now, we will have to look for a different place further away from our hotel. Just to find a place who treat people with respect. I would recommend everyone to stay away from this place. And i hope this doormen find another job.

My partner got his coat stolen here. Staff was not helpful and didn’t even try to help when we were looking for it.

"All foreign customers must stay away! I had two valid IDs but still couldn't get in. They insisted I retrieve my passport from my hotel. I'm from Norway and had 14 friends who had already entered the club. I wasn't too drunk, but the bouncers wouldn't let me in."

It's a decent option for a late-night hangout when you don't have any other options; the beer prices are reasonable. However, it tends to get uncomfortably warm inside, so it's best to avoid during summer.

Waren 2 mal dort, beim ersten Abend war es echt super, nicht zu überfüllt, die Barkeeper waren nett und das war echt alles super. Beim 2. Abend war alles überfüllt. Die Barkeeper überfordert, man konnte nirgends hin und wurde ständig geschubst, und das am Dienstag Abend! Also wenn nicht viel los ist, auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen. Musik ist super👍🏻

Skvělé místo pro vychutnání piva s přáteli. Obsluha je usměvavá a extrémně rychlá - seděli jsme blíže u baru a objednávku jsme dostali během jedné minuty. Vzhledem k ostatním recenzím je nutné podotknout, že jsme dorazili poměrně brzy (v 19:00), takže žádný vyhazovač na místě nebyl.
