Nice restaurant, but sky-high prices

Used to have a good price-quality ratio and was always busy, but after the departure of good chefs in the 90s it only went downhill.

We had a wonderful meal with eight people on Sinterklaas Eve. Delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, and good, friendly service! Thanks for a lovely evening.

Ordered a meatball with two slices of bread. The meatball was really small and hard on the outside. Disappointing... The price-quality ratio was below par. I'd used to better.

A cozy chauffeur's restaurant that's been around for a long time. I used to go there as a child with my parents, my children, and now my grandchildren too. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy and friendly. Ample parking and a view of Wieringen. Highly recommended.

Not good, bad salad, green beans tasted like nothing. Mushrooms weren't cooked properly. Ordered dish was incomplete. Beetroot burger was tasty but too much bread. Too bad.

I can't comment on the food, as I didn't use it. However, as someone who was heavily pregnant, I just asked if I could use the restroom. I was allowed to. When I was done, I was thanked very much for the courtesy. But then I was told that if I didn't drink anything, I would have to pay €1. I certainly understand the concept of people who haven't consumed anything having to pay for the restroom. But making someone who is heavily pregnant pay a euro isn't very helpful. This is the first time this has happened to me.

Good food, but a meager portion of mussels, which is also on the expensive side. Great food, cozy place.

Due to a staff shortage and a smaller menu, you would expect them to be able to bake a schnitzel, but this one came straight from the fryer. The fries were limp and it really didn't taste good.

A bit of faded glory, the terrace is untidy..

Last night (August 21, 2025) I was in the area for a condolence visit. Since I hadn't eaten yet, I drove past this restaurant. I decided to eat there. I was helped by a very friendly young lady, and I had a truly delicious meal. This restaurant is absolutely recommended. Kind regards from a KLM employee.

Ordered a cappuccino on Sunday. It turned out to be a milky cup with a weak taste. Better luck next time.

A simple restaurant where even locals go after work. The food is tasty, and the portions are decent. The oyster mushroom carpacio was particularly good. The service was very friendly.

Unfortunately, the nostalgic feeling didn't live up to our expectations. We waited an hour and a half before receiving our food, even though it wasn't busy when we ordered. People who arrived (much) later received their food first. The food itself wasn't anything special. The owner apologized for the inconvenience and offered a discount, hence the two stars.

Ik kan me niet helemaal vinden in de negatieve recenties. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen en hadden geluk dat er nog een tafeltje voor vier vrij was. Het interieur is inderdaad gedateerd en zou een update kunnen gebruiken (maar heeft ook wel zo z'n charme). Het is 'huiselijk'. De gasten na ons kregen hun eten eerder, dat was wel enigszins bijzonder. Ik had gekozen voor de biefstuk. Die was niet boterzacht maar wel prima. Verwacht geen sterrenrestaurant maar hier kun je prima naartoe.

Very unfriendly (male) staff. The ladies were nice, though. We ordered a Coke, and there was still some left in my glass. The young man immediately came to take the bottles away because, he said, "it looks so sad!" He also wanted to take my husband's empty glass, which he had just taken the last sip. It felt really unwelcoming. We'd finished our food, and the Coke too, so we had to get lost! That's how it came across to us, and we left immediately. It used to be a cozy and friendly place. I've been coming here since I was a child, and I'm now 66, so that's at least 60 years. I'll never go back!

Open? NOT! I made a special detour to grab a bite to eat here, but there was no chicken to be seen. Please update the opening hours on Google to avoid disappointment.

It's truly faded glory, with lots of flies in the restaurant area. A dog in the kitchen. And dirty, yes, dirty windows.

I was disappointed. I ate here a while ago and it was better. The service was bad, the food wasn't bad, but it was quite expensive. I can't recommend it this time.

Good food. Nice that if you arrive late after a hard day's work they immediately go into the kitchen even though they are almost closing.

At 5 pm everything is reserved, then pushed into a corner at the door while 2 people were eating. Ordered schnitzel, unfortunately curled up and fried with a curry taste.... the stroganoff I ordered never came... expensive as a trucker and then you still have to pay for the shower😅 Back to France next week 🙏

I think it's ridiculous that you come to eat with 4 adults and get 1 small portion of fries and then have to pay €5 extra for an extra portion of fries with sauce!!!!!

Food difficult, ordered potato wedges and cauliflower, cauliflower was breaded and tasted strongly of bacon, probably from the frying oil, not acceptable for a vegan dish

Went for a business lunch this afternoon. The decor is dated, but neat and also gives a good impression and matching feeling. A nice place along the road to eat, very friendly staff. The food was fine, the ancient bread tasted great and was deliciously fresh. The croquettes were artisanal and well seasoned. Nicely served with a little sourness. Great place to have lunch, will definitely come here again in the future.

Biefstuk was niet door te kauwen. Taai en droog. Bediening amateuristisch. 40 jaar geleden kwam ik hier met mijn ouders en interieur is niks veranderd. Oudbollig en nodigd niet uit. Wij komen hier nooit meer en zal het een ieder afraden

I was last there when it was still a real driver's restaurant, but last week I went there with my wife during work, but first we sat in a spot where there were no tourists around us and we were told to sit in the busy section in case large groups arrived! Well then I hoped for the large groups that they don't have to go to the toilet at the same time because there is only 1 standing toilet and 1 sitting toilet and that looked grubby. We were going to eat there but our appetite had already disappeared due to the "hospitality" later when we left, 1 was placed in the worst place where we were sitting while there was still room where we were directed to. We said something about it and received a vague answer in return. So the conclusion next time is by or to the wagon wheel. lammertschaag or over the dike and to the bolsward cabin.

Good food for a reasonable price. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium), the spareribs could have used some flavor. The service is very correct and friendly. Highly recommended for the traveler...

Had a coffee, great meeting place with excellent service, ample parking.

Went here last Thursday for lunch and because I absolutely have to eat gluten-free, I first discussed what was possible. They did have gluten-free bread in house and I have never had such a tasty cheese spread with a delicious crispy roll. Simple but really surprising to me.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty and the portions were a normal size. We felt comfortable.

In itself a great place to eat, the carpaccio was tasty, the schnitzel and hamburger were fine. The stew was very salty. The hostess started discussing this, it would be rendang... well, that's possible, but as the wife of an Indo, I know very well what rendang should taste like and a rendang is spicy, certainly not salty! Later she came to tell me that she and the chef had tasted it and it wasn't salty, it was because of the coconut cream? (You use this as a binding agent or to make your dish milder, this has nothing to do with salt)

Visitors were a little later and with a long drive ahead of us, we still had to eat. So decided to stop here for dinner. Looking for accessible, quick yet nutritious and enjoyable food on the go. Exactly what you hope for at a good roadside restaurant. That certainly lived up to expectations! Very friendly staff, quick service and the bill was not too bad. Generous portion of vegetables with the dishes + point! The only minor point was that the dressing on the salad was really too sour for me, but that certainly didn't spoil the fun. Will definitely come back again!

What a great place to take a break! Truck park with 10 spaces. Very welcoming café/restaurant in a family atmosphere. WC accessible to drivers (check opening hours), even on Sundays.

Food is quite simple for the price you pay for it. Appetizers and desserts are excellent. I myself had beef stew. This turned out to be a gravy that I could put over the fries. Fairly disappointing. My table companions' schnitzel, hamburger and chicken satay were OK. The interior has not been touched since the 1980s; quite dated. Service was good. And it was quite cold there, we could have used the heater a little higher.

As a truck driver I ordered a daily menu that is included in the price with soup and dessert. I had almost finished my soup when the employee indicated that she had sold me the wrong menu and offered a new completely different menu that I didn't like so I chose something else and the dessert didn't go as it should But at checkout I had to pay for everything separately that I had not chosen, so my bill became €15.00 more expensive. I have this with the checkout Reported but not addressed. I think this is very bad service, leaving the customer to pay the costs while the company makes the mistakes

Upon arrival we were immediately helped, which was absolutely fine. The waitress came back after 2 minutes to check if we already knew what we wanted to eat. Seemed a bit rushed. Anyway, 3 times the spareribs and a plate of poffertjes. A bread board beforehand. The breadboard was okay. Bread was warm, but certainly not freshly baked. Shortly afterwards the poffertjes arrived on the table. But the spareribs for the rest of the table weren't there yet. Waiting a while is of course no problem, but the poffertjes were long gone before the side dishes arrived on the table. While the salad was getting warm and the fries were cold, we were still waiting for our spareribs. Finally our dishes had arrived. The youngest was still hungry after a plate of poffertjes, since you got about 10 poffertjes for 10.50. So I ordered a children's menu with fries and croquette. After the first bite of my spare ribs, I shared them with my partner to assess whether they were really cold or whether this was my fault. Compared to their ribs, mine were really not tasty and cold. This was indicated, with the message that I don't need them back anymore. Miraculously, my ribs came out of the kitchen 'warmed up' 20 minutes later... Also ordered a 2nd drink, but never received it. All in all, enough went wrong with the service that we really couldn't have a pleasant dinner. Such a shame! We last visited a few years ago and had a very enjoyable meal. After indicating all this, we were allowed to pay the full bill. We were in a conclave for a while and by God's grace we received the poffertjes on the house. However, they really couldn't just 'give away' the spare ribs because they had done their best to reheat them... But let's be honest, if you order spare ribs that are then served lukewarm/cold, who wants to get them back 'warmed up' from the kitchen 20 minutes later. To then pay full price for this?!?! A huge disappointment!

Nice driver's cafe with a beautiful location before the crossing to Friesland over the Afsluitdijk. Fast and smooth service for our large group. We will come back for dinner next year.

Nice to eat while you are passing through

When we go to Texel we always break the journey at the Zingende Wielen. But how this matter has deteriorated! The coffee used to be delicious, but not anymore. But why I'm writing a bad review is the following: we ordered a filled cookie with coffee and what we got... a filling cookie from the supermarket. The one of 8 in a pack!!! I think this is a shame! When I made a comment about this at checkout (2x coffee and 2x filling cake = 13 euros), I was told that these came from the bakery.... Adieu Singing wheels never again.

After a nasty setback at Duinoord (where we couldn't order food to our liking because we were 'too early' for the dinner menu) we drove on to De Zingende Wielen. Top! The dogs were allowed inside, despite being early for dinner, dinner was served and the food was delicious! Simple, well prepared and more than enough. It had been years since we had eaten here, but we will definitely be back now. Very friendly staff, helpful, really correct!

Wij waren onderweg en kwamen dit restaurant tegen. Staat bekend als chauffeurs café! Ik had biefstuk besteld. Ik heb nog nooit zo’n vieze biefstuk gegeten. Het stuk vlees zag er grijs uit met zwarte strepen van de gril! Het was bitter echt heel vies! Bediening heeft nergens naar gevraagd, ook bij het afrekenen niet gevraagd of alles naar wens was. Vreselijk! Voor mij nooit weer.

Great meal, steak great schnitzel, well we were 4 adults and 3 children, there was a 5 year old boy who was really looking forward to a sandwich but that didn't happen, they didn't want to prepare it, very unfortunate and a lot of sadness for a little boy of 5 years therefore 1 star for service

We just had dinner at "a popularly known" trucker cafe... delicious! I thought, normally you can just eat normally there. Upon entering it immediately became clear that a cup of coffee or a latte machiato was not available, the milk had run out. The mustard soup was really nothing wrong with it at all, it was a tasty soup 😁 the snitzel on the other hand was just bad... hard, chewy and supermarket quality, the sauce was tasty. The cauliflower was frozen quality and hard. The fries were dry, hard and looked like they had been fried twice. For the price we had to pay, there are better cafes where they serve tasty, normal food. When asked whether everything had been resolved, I honestly expressed my opinion and we were allowed to settle with an apology. I hope that you will take these findings into account when purchasing and opt for slightly better quality meat. Not worth repeating for us.

Had a little reunion yesterday, it was fun. The furniture is really from years ago, just as it could have been at my grandmother's. The staff is friendly, attentive, quick and young. The menu is limited but it contains excellent dishes, there is something for every age. The side dishes, lettuce, vegetables and fries taste delicious. The only downside are the spareribs, they seem to have come straight from the microwave or regeneration oven and for me they were lukewarm. There is still some honor to be gained from this. The desserts looked great and tasted delicious. I wonder if I will come there again, it is quite a long way from Rotterdam. People from the neighborhood know where to find it, the place was well occupied. Unfortunately no pictures were taken of the food.

Not good and not bad. It's time to freshen things up inside and outside. No longer the drivers' cafe of years ago.
