My second time eating here. The food is really great. The best Ethiopian restaurant I have been too. The service is really friendly. I really recommend the herb tea. Tastes strongly of cinnamon and is the perfect way to end a meal.

All their food is really good and such a great experience. If you have never tried this type of food the mixed plates for 2 or more people is a great choice. The food quantities are very good.

We went there through social deals. The experience was nice. The mai dish was the best. Two types of chicken lentils and salad with the authentic bread.

First time trying Ethiopian food and everything was very good. The experience is very cool, because you eat with your hands. It is true that some dishes can be spicy.

Enjoy eating with your hands. You use the well-known ‘pancake’ as a spoon and every bite tastes different if you choose a mixed menu for several people, as we did. Great prices for tasty food. Reservations are not yet necessary.

Never eaten anything like this before. I was afraid it would be too spicy, but they made my chicken a little less spicy. Still a bit too spicy for me, but it was doable. Didn't finish it, it's very filling! Nice how the food was served. We will definitely come back someday.

This has become our absolute favorite spot in Groningen and a go-to for date nights! 😋 high quality ingredients and authentic flavors, coming here feels like visiting a friend for a home cooked meal. Very affordable, super friendly service, and lots of veg options. The coffee itself is also an entire wonderful experience. Definitely try this place if you havent been yet!

Great food and super nice people. I love this cuisine and have been waiting for a few years for a restaurant to open in Groningen, so I am very happy with this place. It's not expensive at all and I come here at least once a month when I'm in the area! Keep it up!

Incredibly good food for a very fair price! Food was ready fairly fast. Every time we came here, we tried new dishes and were never disappointed! The staff is also very nice! I would definitely recommend it!

Great food and friendly staff. This restaurant had a great location at walking distance from my hotel, but I would’ve travelled here from the other side of the city. I recommend you order the mixer plate and/or the ades (lentil dish). The mixer dish may get you some “chef’s choice” dishes that are not on the menu. The prices were very reasonable.

I was looking for a nice spot in Groningen for Ethiopian food and Hdmona habesha surely claimed a top spot on my list! The food was tasty and great value. The atmosphere is cozy and nice. And the service was kind and friendly. I would definitely visit again!

A truly great 5 star experience. The staff here are very friendly, extremely helpful and happy to tell you about the kitchen and dishes. The food itself is delicious and has unique spice combinations. For someone who doesn't like spicy food, the cuisine may be on the spicy side. The homemade drinks (beer and honey wine) complete the experience.

If you're looking for a unique food experience, this is a great choice. If you're not familiar with African food, this will be a great intro, especially If you enjoy thoroughly seasoned food, especially spicy.

Had a nice dinner out tonight. We opted for the mix and were served a nice large bowl of injeras and several traditional habesha dishes. It looked beautiful and tasted delicious. The service was smooth and friendly. Definitely recommended!

Excellent value! The food was splendid; though I would've liked some more spice. They have about everything you could want from the cuisine on the menu, and it's not too long either. Plenty of injera with the food and diverse selection of drinks. Fast service even though I was there on a weeknight; no complaints at all.

Near-perfect ethiopian food with the most variety found across Europe. We've been multiple times to get the mixed platters, which are always great to showcase the most popular dishes like Doro wat, tibs, key wat, Shiro, Hamli, and Alicha; all amazingly executed here. We have long been looking to try the raw beef dish Kitfo, and this is one of the only restaurants in Europe to serve it. After trying it, we can say it is the best dish we've had here and would highly recommend it. We also had the shekla tibsi, served over fire, which was amazing and served with dipping spice Mitmita. The kapreto was also great in flavor, but it was difficult to remove the meat from the bones. The Tej honey wine is also amazing. Service is friendly and food is served quickly. The restaurant is never full, but it should be.

We ate the vegetarian combo menu for two. Delicious sauces and the injerra was super tasty.

Delicious injera with mixed meat and vegetables. Chicken was nice and spicy. Tibse less spicy and not very hot. But it was another great Ethiopian (Eritrean) experience.

Great experience and very unique and delicious food. Even for a good price! Very friendly service and a very unique experience of eating the Eritrean way without cutlery, which makes the experience much more pleasant and enjoyable. In addition, delicious honey wine, unique beer and delicious coffee. Definitely recommended.

The nicest dinner I've ever had. All senses are pampered here, the staff is super hospitable, kind, willing to explain everything. The food is very tasty, we were 3 people. We ate a gigantic plate of a local meat dish. It was very special and fun to eat food from a plate with 3 people without cutlery. We drank super tasty Eritrean/Ethiopian honey wine and coffee. The coffee was served with popcorn and incense. The incense made the experience extra special because it smelled fantastic. All in all we laughed a lot and had a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed the shekla tibs and alcha tibs with my friend. Both kinds taste amazing and original! I enjoy it well. Their enjera is tasty and nice. They have different Kinds of drinks like beer, tej (honey wine) and traditional beer. I enjoyed St. George beer. Very friendly and charming peoples. In all, my experience at Hdmona was wonderful!

It was a random trip in Groningen, and we ran into this spot, being Eritrean I was really satisfied with (Food,Service, Atmosphere). Attentive staff, Nicely cooked food, Decoration and background sounds was beautiful. Make sure to try the coffee with ginger. Next visit pretty soon with my friends.

We were recommended a plate with a little bit of everything, which would cost €25. At checkout it was suddenly €45. While the prices per person fall between € 10 and € 18 on the menu. Now we had lost € 22.50 per person. Even though the food was very tasty, it was still a downer. Tip: if they recommend something, verify the price.

We really enjoy Ethiopian food! We were both so happy to find this spot in Groningen. There was a variety of food options (veg, chicken and lamb). We enjoyed the atmosphere (paintings, music and stage). Will be bringing our friends here again soon!

Delicious food and great service. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too! It is recommended to just order a mix and they will make a selection. We had the vegetarian mix and it was delicious and really not expensive.

Invited by the oriental aromas exhaling from there, we entered and enjoyed the delicious food they served abundantly on a big plate for three. The lamb was exquisite, and the coffee is an experience one must not lose while going there!
