Diggels Barendrecht in Wijk 01 Centrum

Very disappointing. We went there for lunch last Friday with two people. It started right upon entering; it was super quiet the entire time we were there, yet despite that, we were only allowed to sit at a small, uninviting table for two. They were very adamant about that, too. We were told that several tables were reserved. But as mentioned, NO ONE came! Next, we ordered a salmon club sandwich and, after waiting 25 minutes, just asked if it was going to take much longer. And mind you, it was still very quiet both inside and outside. When I asked the 'manager'? if it was going to take much longer, I got a rather irritated response saying 'that it had only been 20 minutes'. This was done in a way that suggested, 'stop whining, what are you complaining about?' By then, we were basically done with it. But the absolute low point was the so-called salmon club sandwich. Seriously, it was more like a lettuce sandwich with partially frozen salmon and sauce scratched on top or something like that. When we took the lettuce off our sandwiches, both our plates were full! Of lettuce. There was no one else around in the place to ask if this was normal... We eventually pointed out to the waitress that there was a lot of lettuce between the breads and that the salmon was still partially frozen. She said she would check with the kitchen and come back to settle the bill. But nothing happened. Eventually, she was standing behind the bar whispering to her colleague. And when we asked her if she had spoken to the kitchen yet: 'I passed it on to the cook; he will pay a bit more attention to it next time.' 'Next time??... There will never, ever be a next time.'

Great service and delicious food!

We had a good meal, but when you are 81, the Wiener Schnitzel is really very big. My suggestion: half the size, then I would have still managed to have dessert.

The acoustics are poor. When it is very busy, it is difficult to understand each other, even if you are sitting close together at a table.

We had the Flammkuchen Tartare, the satay dish, the Diggels salad, and the tartare sandwich. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well balanced. The chicken was especially tender, and the tartare sauce was delicious. The service was also excellent—friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our meal and would happily come back!

Delicious coffee, no choice in cake.

We had a delicious meal at Diggels yesterday. The attention given to the guest is superb, something that is no longer a given at many hospitality establishments. And even at Diggels, they can make a mistake. For instance, I came for the traditional Zeeland mussels and received a different version. This was handled well. I did receive sincere apologies, and in no time I received the mussels I had come for as a true Zeeland girl. Good food and pleasant service. We would love to come back.

The food was very tasty, but it could all have been a bit faster. The wait staff also walked past empty-handed quite a few times, even though our plates had long been empty. Furthermore, it was very busy, and we certainly didn't get the best spot on the terrace.

A pleasant surprise after reading the advertisement (yes, advertising definitely pays off) for the mussel special. It was a feast for the taste buds, the service was friendly and efficient, and the spare ribs (there are people who don't like mussels – but Diggels has a wide selection of other delicacies) were also well-seasoned and the meat fell right off the bone. Highly recommended in Barendrecht, just a bit difficult to park.

Good morning everyone, Good restaurant, really a nice, quiet but cozy little place, butttttt sometimes it takes a bit long to get the food, so you have to be a bit patient sometimes, “good things come to those who are willing to wait” so in other words, pretty place, just go sit down and get completely wasted💯

Tasty food, good service. The only downside was that we asked to leave the bacon off the burger, but that wasn't done.

Things aren't going well at Diggels, because the owner makes absolutely no effort to be friendly. My husband comes here regularly with some friends for a drink, but he doesn't even recognize them, or doesn't think it's necessary. Unfortunately, many things went wrong, such as drinks arriving late, the food taking quite a long time and not arriving at the same time. Dessert took a long time for two people, while the other two had already finished it. Unfortunately, the staff considered the friends and acquaintances walking by or dining more important than other customers. Otherwise, a good restaurant with a nice and good menu.

Friendly staff and delicious food

We sat down on the terrace here in the afternoon and struck up a conversation (we thought it was the owner) with this man. A very nice man with pleasant conversation... we really wanted to get something to eat, but the inside was completely full. The rest of the staff were also super friendly. Later, the man came back and managed to arrange a table for us after all. Super friendly, the food was delicious... the drinks were great!! We enjoyed ourselves... if we are in the area again, we will definitely come back! Greetings from the couple from Friesland.

We come here regularly. One of the better restaurants in Barendrecht. The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. We have tried almost everything on the menu, but there is a new menu every quarter. Highly recommended!!!

What a dump. What unfriendly people. We had made a reservation but had to leave within an hour because we weren't going to eat, but wanted to have drinks. How rude. Oh, and my girlfriend ordered a 0.0 cocktail but got one with alcohol even though she is allergic; it's ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend it. Never again!

I went to Diggels last time, and as a vegetarian, I won't be back anytime soon. For about €20, I got a vegetarian dish that mainly consisted of a piece of turnip with a few small side dishes, while you have to pay an extra €6 for fries. That feels really disproportionate. What makes it even more galling: a friend ordered chicken satay, got fries and side dishes with it, and paid less than I did. For these prices, I expect a full-fledged vegetarian dish, not an afterthought. It's a shame, but I won't be back.

The food is good. Unfortunately, the tables are very close together, and there's not enough service for so many people. The staff themselves are friendly and knowledgeable; they clearly know what they're talking about. Parking in the area is difficult, though.

I've been here many times and have always been satisfied, but the last time was rather disappointing. The waitress was absolutely not in the mood. She must have been having a bad day or something, but I was surprised at how much it ruined the atmosphere. It even made the food seem less tasty. This is so unnecessary. Hopefully, her mood will improve next time.

My group of guests is quite discerning, and everyone had a truly delicious meal. Simply no complaints, what a gem.

Duggels Barendrecht The restaurant is located right in Barendrecht. It's a stylish and rustic restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food was very good and delicious. The beer selection is good. Free street parking is available.

It was very pleasant. We sat upstairs for a baby shower and had high tea. It was fine. I found the bread served a bit dry and there wasn't much variety in the toppings. Or maybe I missed something. The sweets were very tasty. All in all, a nice and cozy place.

Diggels has been high on my list for years. I go there almost every quarter. Beautiful, simple, and delicious card. Good quality for a price everyone can appreciate.

Regular visitors because of the good food and friendly service

A while ago, this was a pretty good restaurant. The spareribs you get are way overcooked, yet they're cold/lukewarm; ergo, they've been microwaved. You have to order all the side dishes, like fries, yourself, supposedly to prevent food waste, but obviously to make more money. A sauce with your meat costs €4.50, fries €6, and mayonnaise €1. The cannolis were always excellent at Diggels. A big, fat cannoli for €1.50. Now the cannoli have been halved and the price has doubled to €3.00. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves!

The bar was a vibrant, energetic place, yet it remained pleasant and not overcrowded. The drinks were creative and tasted fantastic. The staff enjoyed their work, and that radiated to the guests. The lighting and music combined to create a pleasant ambiance. It was a wonderful evening.

Slow service but delicious food

My husband and I had dinner at Diggels on July 4th. The food itself was fine, nothing special, and the service was quick. So quick that we even got the idea that our table had to be freed up again soon, but oh well. The coffee was undrinkable, and when we gave the service a small tip about this, we were snapped at. Double espresso served in a mug because "we are not in Italy here" was the argument. We sat outside on the terrace, cozily next to a Brabantia waste bin in which waste and food scraps from other tables were constantly thrown. When I asked if this could be moved, the response was not very friendly or understanding. We also think the price/quality is very poor. With some dishes you have to order fries and vegetables etc. separately. That means that you then spend an average of 33 euros for a simple pork tenderloin and a small bowl of fries (at 6 euros) No, from now on we will sit next door at the Italian or something. Diggles isn't what it used to be, unfortunately.

I think a Caesar salad should have chicken. You can order this separately. I don't think that's how it's supposed to be. Too bad the beef croquettes don't taste like beef.

Prijs kwaliteit duur. Ik vroeg om een ceasarsalade. Kreeg ik de vraag wil je hier kip of gamba s bij bestellen. Naar mijn idee is ceasarsalade standaard met kip. Dit heb ik dus niet besteld. Toen rundvlees kroketten met brood besteld. Rundvlees nergens kunnen vinden. Ze waren smaakloos met hele kleine boterhammen. Mijn man had een 12 uurtje met tomatensoep. De soep leek op tomatenpuree. Dus dit was de laatste keer.

Had a tasty lunch here with my family (with 2 little kids). I found the atmosphere to be charming and cozy. I can imagine it must get loud on a busy Friday night, but sometimes that can be fun. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Er misten 4 ingrediënten in het lunchgerecht. Het werd teruggenomen met veel excuses. Ik kreeg vrij vlot opnieuw eten. Nu misten er nog steeds twee ingrediënten. Verder kijkt de bediening niet rond om te zien of er gasten wenken. Jammer. Ik raad dit restaurant af.

We came by again with our 92 year old mother, after having made a reservation. We had to sit in a small room at the front, which was packed, with a table of 18 incl. Kline Children next to us with a lot of noise, and running around the table, the noise in this packed space was so bad that we could not understand each other. We wanted alcohol-free wine for mother, which they did not have, only beer and cocktails said the friendly young man who helped us. I went to the large restaurant and asked if we could dine there, because my mother was completely panicking because of the noise. The place was completely empty. You would think that that was possible, well no way. Everything was reserved said the manager, yes I said, we have that too. I could already tell from the attitude that this was not going to happen. We decided to leave, because we did not accept this for a moment! I think that is not the owner's policy either... The manager also indicated that he had alcohol-free prosecco, but that was mustard after the meal. No, we don't come here anymore.

We had made a reservation well in advance and noted in the comments that we would like to be on the terrace when the weather is nice. Now we arrived and the weather was nice. Marcel indicated in an extremely disrespectful manner that we had to sit inside and that reservations cannot be made on the terrace, while there was a reservation sign on a table on the terrace, where people sat who had not reserved! And a few weeks ago, people on the terrace were turned away because other people had made reservations on the terrace. Explain that! Conclusion: There is arbitrariness! We left as loyal customers! Very unfortunate! We had a birthday and we thought we would go to our village restaurant where we have been coming for more than 30 years. Not so!

Wij hadden ruim van te voren gereserveerd en bij de opmerkingen genoteerd dat wij, bij mooi weer, graag op het terras wilden. Nu kwamen wij aan en was het mooi weer. Marcel gaf met een ontiegelijke respectloze manier aan dat we binnen moesten zitten en dat er op het terras niet gereserveerd kan worden, terwijl er op het terras een gereserveerd bord op een tafel stond, waar mensen gingen zitten, die niet hadden gereserveerd! En een paar weken geleden werden mensen op het terras nog weggestuurd omdat er andere mensen hadden gereserveerd op het terras. Leg dat maar uit! Conclusie: Er is sprake van willekeur! Wij zijn als trouwe klanten weggegaan! Erg jammer! We hadden een werjaardag en we dachten gezellig naar ons dorpsrestaurant waar we al meer dan 30 jaar komen, niet dus!

We came for the Italian but unfortunately the terrace was closed. The reviews at Diggels sounded promising, but what a disappointment. The service was downright bad. Long wait for drinks, your food. The starter was disappointing, the VG with scallop sounded tasty but was a mouthful of cream. When the HG came, our VG was still in front of us. Cutlery was missing, they only brought it 5 minutes later. When I spoke to the waiter about it, he said he was busy with other things. The steak was rare when it was supposed to be medium. We did ourselves a favor and got dessert elsewhere. Left 100 euros lighter and slightly irritated.

Friendly, quick and dishes ok, oh yes and a good terrace

Perfect place for a delicious meal before the theater! Diggels is a cozy and attractive café with the charm of a brown café, but with a modern twist. The service is incredibly friendly and makes you immediately feel welcome. We enjoyed a delicious dinner before going to the theater. The escargot and steak tartare as a starter were perfectly prepared and full of flavour. As a main course we had a fantastic schnitzel, exactly as it should be: crispy, juicy and served German-style with a delicious sauce. The hamburger was also great, juicy and tasty, with crispy fries. The atmosphere, service and food make Diggels an ideal place to enjoy a delicious meal before a night out. Definitely recommended!
