The food, hospitality and overall service is great

The restaurant is small and the experience is good, but not as good as expected for experiencing the taste of Indian food.

What a wonderful experience this was. The food was truly fantastic and the table presentation looked very well-cared for. The three different sauces in the wooden holder were an instant hit, in particular. I am very enthusiastic about the atmosphere at this place on the Rokin. It is highly recommended for anyone looking for a flavorful meal in a prime location. We will definitely be back.

A simple restaurant, but the food was excellent; I haven't had such good Indian food in a long time. There were also quite a few Indian guests, which I generally consider a good sign. A pleasant atmosphere with beautiful, modern photos that convey an Indian ambiance without the usual kitsch.

High stars cannot ne real comments. Even though the food was okay, neither the service nor the atmosphere is satisfactory. We were barely welcomed and there was no one to see us out. The waiter was not really kind and he was indifferent. Not the mention the really dirty armchairs. Never coming back. Unkind service.

Food was good, portion size was good, no noise pollution from main road however, thats where the good stops. Ordered my food and asked for 2 cokes and a tap water. Was refused tap water and told only water allowed was the bottle on the table at nearly 7 Euro's per bottle, sorry but not just the price for water but refusal for tap water is just shocking. We asked for pompadoms with our order and told after ordered they would come after the food. By the time we ate our food there was still no pompadoms and asked this to be taken off our price which it was. Would have liked them with my food tho. The bowl the bread came in was caked in old dirty greece. I would look to using ceramic in the future so this does not happen in the future.

i got the butter chicken with garlic nan, the butter chicken was surprisingly sweet so ask for it extra spicy. also the water being €6 is a lot.

We found this place while walking around looking for dinner. What a great find! Food was served hot and fresh. The flavors were super delicious. Will definitely return when back to Amsterdam. Try the masa masala lemon for drink, very refreshing on a hot day.

We discovered this restaurant by chance and spontaneously decided on Indian food. The staff gave us a very warm welcome. The restaurant was consistently very busy during our visit; any empty tables were quickly filled with new customers. Our food arrived quickly, hot, fresh, and delicious. We felt completely at ease and would gladly return on our next visit to Amsterdam.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Dilbar Indian Restaurant, Amsterdam. We tried Shahi Paneer, Paneer Tikka, Dal Makhni, Samosa, and Garlic Bread — every dish was delicious and full of authentic Indian flavors. The Shahi Paneer was rich and creamy, Paneer Tikka was perfectly grilled, and the Dal Makhni tasted excellent. The samosas were crispy and fresh, and the garlic bread complemented the meal very well. The staff was courteous, service was quick, and the overall ambiance was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality Indian food in Amsterdam!

Visited this place for lunch while in Amsterdam, and honestly, the food was absolutely amazing. The ambiance and seating were really beautiful and gave such a warm feeling. A special thanks to MANUEL for the excellent service and kind behavior the way he attended us truly reminded me of genuine South Asian hospitality. Such a lovely experience overall, definitely recommended for anyone who appreciates good food and great service.

I was a bit skeptical internally due to the location, being in a busy touristy part of town, but it definitely delivered! North style Indian cuisine with deep and rich flavors of the curries, fresh tasty naan bread, good music volume. A bit overpriced compared to other Indians tho.

Extremely racist against Indians. Would not recommend for any Indians. And those who do go, accept that you will be treated with sub standard service and arrogance attitude of their staff who are unfit to work in a customer facing role due to sheer arrogance. Humbleness goes a long way. Staff openly will ask if you are Indian that you plan to order only starters and drinks. That question in our presence was not asked to other group which consisted of all white members. A peaceful conversation was marred by Staff member’s inability to handle questions and became defensive. Furthermore if you do not want customers of Indian origin to order only drinks and starters you should make it evident in your policy and not offer the table to any Indians. Assumptions were made about us and after offering us table we were asked if ‘we Indians would offer only starters or drinks.’ No restaurant offers this type of treatment. You are racist and further more deceiving people by pretending to be Indian restaurant when you are actually not Indians. I am not the only one who has written about the Dilbar’s rude staff. Pls read the reviews and you will see many more have cited their rudeness. I am glad we went elsewhere as food there was delicious, served with warmth and staff did not make assumptions nor treat us differently because we are Indians.

I ordered butter chicken sweet and plain rice, which was just okay. I also ordered chicken masala and salad rita, which were good. I also ordered naan bread.

When we paid the bill, i commented we expected the fish curry portion to be larger, the waitor said it is supposed to be a one person portion. Even if it is for one person, i dont expect it to be just a side dish like palm size boal with just 4 to 5 incomplete fish pieces for 19.5 euros. We did order tandori chicken and naan and also the fish curry for 3 ppl in total, for a small lunch , but the fish curry never appeared to be a main dish portion. It dont taste any special either. The flavor of boneless chicken is not bad, but chewy enough to train your massetor, also 20 euros. Naan is 4.5 euro and is the only fair one. Also, it is not busy at all on sunday afternoon, but dk why the google map show busy, there were literally only us when we ordered food. I rarely commented this harsh and hate to be straightforward, but for real we feel like you can get better choices. We were just too lazy to seek other restaurants. I hope the restaurant can improve at least on the portion. That will make more sense.

The food was very good and tasty, and the service was excellent.

We ordered Pani Puri, and it was really disappointing. 🤯 After trying this, one might forget what authentic Indian Pani Puri tastes like. 🥲 None of the ingredients matched the original Indian flavor. When we asked about it, they simply said, “This is how it is in Amsterdam.” Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to regret or acknowledge the poor quality.

The first time my girlfriend and I ate Indian food, I was speechless. Actually, the only word I could say throughout the entire dinner was: delicious. The staff was very friendly, and the place itself was a bit small but very cute. I highly recommend it.

Delicious food and good service

Being a North Indian, I can say the food was a bit okay-ish in terms of taste. Although the service is friendly, unfortunately the food doesn’t really do justice in terms of flavor. The location is quite central, which is definitely a plus. The lassi was a bit over sweet, the dal makhani lacked flavor, and the naan had a rather chewy texture. If I’m in Amsterdam again, I would try a different restaurant, which I believe might be a better option in terms of food. I hope they improve the taste of the food to really stand out.

On closer inspection, the decor seemed rather shabby, and the restrooms could definitely use a complete overhaul. It looked completely different from the photos. My mango curry was extremely sweet, and the sauce was disgustingly thick and lacked any finesse. There wasn't a hint of herbs. My daughter, however, was delighted with her vegetarian spinach curry. The naan bread was also delicious. At the end, the waiter pressured us into giving a 5-star rating, standing right next to my daughter the whole time and pointing at the stars she was supposed to click. Now, reviews have taken on a whole new meaning for me.

Absolutely outstanding dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, elegant and inviting. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly and knowledgeable Specially Mr.Rafiq. We ordered Yellow Dal, Aalu Gobhi and Roadies Chicken food was really really good. Must try every one.
