⭐☆☆☆☆ (–5 stars if that were possible) If disappointment had a flavor, it would be Dilbar. From start to finish, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in Amsterdam. The food was bland, poorly seasoned, and tasted like it had been rushed out with zero care. Dishes that should be rich and aromatic were flat and oily, and the naan was dry and clearly not fresh. For an Indian restaurant, the lack of depth and authenticity was shocking. Service was equally bad. Staff seemed uninterested, inattentive, and borderline rude. We waited far too long, had to ask multiple times for basic things, and never felt welcomed. The overall atmosphere didn’t help either — tired, uninviting, and not particularly clean. Considering the prices, this place is nowhere near acceptable. Amsterdam has many great Indian restaurants. Trust me, do yourself a favor and choose literally any other one. I wouldn’t return even if it were free.

we had a dinner in Dilbar. Everything was amazing. The food was great. Everybody enjoyed my family and friends thank you dilbar.

Good dinner, the butter chicken and naans were delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant. There was no pressure to leave, as mentioned in other reviews. I recommend it.

Popped into this restaurant soon after they opened for an early lunch with friends. We were the 2nd group in the restaurant and were immediately sat. The man working was acting as a host and server and offered to give us separate checks and confirmed he could do it. I ordered two starter dishes (the prawn soup and seafood platter) everyone else got buttered chicken or a tikka masala. Before leaving the table he repeated everyone’s orders to confirm and reconfirmed how we were splitting the check. Everyone’s food came out together except mine. Halfway through them eating their meal they brought me someone’s shrimp dish and when i inquired if more items (since I got The platter was to come later) the man said I never Ordered the platter. Even though he repeated our order and informed me my seafood platter would be out shortly. When I reminded Him he told me I can Keep the shrimp or wait for the platter. I said if it won’t be a long wait I can Wait. I didn’t get my seafood platter until after everyone was done with their meal. For 2 pieces of shrimp 4 overcooked calamari rings, and 3 bite sized pieces of fish. I was beyond frustrated and asked for a box to go and the check. When the check came he then said we ordered too much food so it couldn’t be separated even though he offered in the beginning. When he got his boss involved he admitted he offered and was then forced by his boss to split the check. Honestly would never come back to this place due to the lack of hospitality and customer service they have. From the lack of communication, and accountability, to the listening comprehension the food wasn’t worth dealing with this guy.

A very bad experience. We were at the restaurant with our baby when the manager/owner asked us to leave. He told us to wait while he finished a conversation, then finally made it clear that we were no longer welcome.

This restaurant only caters to white crowd , i went there on a weekday at 6:30 PM asking for table for 1 and i was refused a table. If you are an Indian i think you should scout for Indian restaurants which welcome their countrymen better and have warmer customer service. No wonder Indians abroad are always trying to screw or one up folks from their own country.

The hospitality was pathetic here. The serving person was not at all helpful infact he misguided us regarding the food items being ordered. I believe one should guide the customer who is new to a place instead of looting money from them

Very disappointing service. We specifically asked about portion sizes before ordering, as we were new to the place. Unfortunately, the information provided by the server was misleading, which resulted in an unsatisfactory dining experience. Additionally, the service lacked basic hospitality and politeness, which was disappointing. Clear communication and courteous service would greatly improve the overall experience.

The food quality may be decent, but our experience was negatively impacted by poor service. We were misled about portion sizes despite clearly asking beforehand, and the server’s attitude was unwelcoming and rude. Hospitality is just as important as food, especially for new customers.

paneer tika masala was fire. ambiance was good other than having to pay for water

The food was great and I was very happy with the experience until the bill. A bottle of water was already on the table before I arrived, and I was charged for it without this being explained. It felt misleading and left a bad impression.

⭐½ Very disappointing experience. A bottle of water was charged at €7, which felt excessive even for Amsterdam. The masala chai tasted like it was made with vapor-heated milk rather than properly brewed, and the samosa was extremely dry and flaky. Overall, the quality did not match the prices at all. I would not return.

It's an okay Indian restaurant. We tried the tikka masala, which was delicious, the butter chicken, which was average, and the biryani rice, which was nice.

Unauthentic indian restaurant which serves sweet chicken curry, creamy tikka masala and bland punjabi food This place is only suitable for people afraid of Indian spices otherwise this is watered down and sweet version of otherwise delicious Indian food. Best Indian food I ever had oversea

Lovely food, ordered Rogan Josh, Dal Makhni and Paneer Tikka Masala were so delicious. Definitely a must place to go for dinner.

Not recommended for Tour manangers with tour groups. They have free wifi for in house guest and a nice outside seating for those who prefer eating outside.

Yummy Indian Food In Amsterdam, Very Friendly Staff and wide variety of Indian Cuisines, Keema Naan, and Chicken Tikka Masala are must try. Altogether we had a great culinary experience.

Already bad impression when I came in. My family was already inside because we needed to charge our phones so we thought we might as well eat there. Only to plates on the table of four, the mats were dirty from earlier curry, only one menu so only one could look and when they came to take our order they seemed inpatient, but what could we do when we only had one so we did not have enough time to look. While sitting customers next to us kept looking at us in a bad way the whole time we were there. After one hour after ordering our food we decided to go. Just as we put our jackets on they came with the food. We kept looking at them and trying to get in conga to ask about our food to no result. Even tho customers that came after us got their food. The prices does not match the amount of food we got. Only the samosa and pani puri seemed reasonable, except the Afghan chicken. Overall a bad experience and left with a bad impression of Indians and India

Food was good. Nice flavours and delicious butter naam. Service was poor and very slow had to ask for a glass or bottle water. A little on the expensive side.

Abdul is awesome, he helps us choose the food, it's delicious. We shared a dish with an appetizer and we were very full.

We wanted to use Neotaste. It wasn't accepted. They didn't even know why they were registered there. My meal was very expensive – 22 euros – with two small meatballs in an unusual cream sauce. It didn't taste like it does in India. If you're really hungry, it won't fill you up. The water on the table costs 7 euros and is still. I'm happy to pay for it, but I'd like to choose which water I want to drink. Overall, I can't recommend this restaurant.

During our recent visit to Amsterdam, we decided to try Dilbar, an Indian restaurant located in the city centre. We went there for a late lunch or early dinner, as the menu looked appealing and the restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere. When we arrived, we were seated quickly and placed our order for food along with a round of drinks. On the table, there was a glass bottle of water with a small note stating that it was chargeable. We completely understood that and appreciated the transparency. However, after finishing our meal, we politely asked one of the staff members if we could please have two glasses of regular tap water. To our surprise, the staff member told us that he was not allowed to serve water unless we purchased the bottled one. This response took us aback, especially considering that we had already ordered food and drinks. In most restaurants, it’s quite normal to be offered a small glass of tap water on request, especially after a meal. It wasn’t about the cost it was more about the principle and the hospitality. The refusal felt unnecessary and left us with a negative impression of the service. It’s a shame because the food itself was genuinely good, and the restaurant has a nice ambience. However, small moments like these really affect the overall dining experience. A little more flexibility or understanding from the staff would have made a big difference and turned an otherwise pleasant meal into a memorable one for the right reasons.

The portion of food is really small compared to the price. The biryani doesn’t taste like traditional Indian biryani, but it is still good. The service was friendly and welcoming.

Very rude staff/owner. I would advise to stay away from this place.

I went to the restaurant and ordered some food. I started drinking from my own water bottle, and a waiter/owner came over and told me I couldn’t—outside drinks aren’t allowed. Then the same guy brought our food and kind of slammed the plates down, banging the utensils on the table pretty hard. We were quietly talking about what just happened, and he came back and said we weren’t allowed to talk about it. Really rude and short-tempered staff. Not a good experience. I would say better not eat then eat in humiliation.

You don't often expect to find a good meal in a touristy spot. But my preconceptions were the positives. The food was delicious, and so was the service. Highly recommended!
