Had a wonderful experience at Dilbar Restaurant in Amsterdam! The food was absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, and the service was friendly, attentive, and professional. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into both the food and the overall dining experience. Definitely a great place to visit if you’re looking for delicious food and a lovely atmosphere in Amsterdam. Disappointing food and service experience. The food was just okay, and unfortunately, only the dal tadka and rice were really enjoyable. The malai kofta was very disappointing — it was white, overly sweet, and tasted more like gulab jamun than malai kofta, with far too much cardamom. The service was also not great. We ordered roti, but we weren’t asked whether we wanted butter, and the rotis were brought completely dry. We also ordered a Coca-Cola, but it was not brought to our table even though we saw drinks being served to other customers. The takeaway experience was particularly frustrating. When we asked for a takeaway box, the server said he would pack the food for us. He came back with just one box and had mixed the dal and rice together. This is simply not acceptable, especially when these are two separate dishes. At the very least, he should have asked whether we wanted them packed together or separately. Overall, the food was average at best, and the service made the experience even more disappointing. I would not recommend it based on our experience.

Amazing hospitality from Bilal! We had a wonderful experience. Bilal was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. He even let us keep our bags safely at the restaurant while we went out to explore Amsterdam. He also helped us by charging our phones and power bank, which was extremely thoughtful. Bilal went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and looked after. His hospitality and friendly attitude really made our experience special. Very disappointing service. We specifically asked about portion sizes before ordering, as we were new to the place. Unfortunately, the information provided by the service staff was misleading as he told the incorrect portion size which led us to order more and food was wasted, which resulted in an unsatisfactory dining experience. Additionally, the service lacked basic hospitality and politeness, which was disappointing as on asking the staff why he did provide correct info he was behavingrude instead of accepting his mistake. Clear communication and courteous service would greatly improve the overall experience.

Great spot for Indian food in Amsterdam! We ordered the mutton Rogan Josh and fresh naan, along with a few other dishes, and everything was really nice. The flavors were spot on and it was a great meal overall. Would definitely recommend!

The food was so good but the staff were rude. The waiter didn’t even come to the door to show us a seat, he just signaled across the room to go sit at a table. At the starter he just put it on the table, not even asking whose it was then just walked away. Also didn’t say a word!!!!!!!!!! But the food was so yummy 🤤🤤🤤

Nice place but too hot especially that it is sunmer. Ordered butter chicken, portions are fine but there was only three peices of chicken along with the sauce in one portion and it was for 21€ There was also no salt in the food i had to add it myself.

The food was okay overall, but unfortunately not something I particularly enjoyed. The dishes felt overly heavy on masala and quite salty. We asked for the food to be spicy, but spicy shouldn’t necessarily mean adding more salt or overwhelming the dish with spices — you could literally feel the masala in your throat. The naan/breads were also quite thick and heavy, and could definitely have been better. Overall, an average experience for me. 3/5 — not terrible, but given the number of good Indian restaurants around Amsterdam, I’m not sure I would come back.

This place is really worth it! The food was amazing, incredibly well seasoned, and the portions were huge. The service was also excellent. A special mention to Abdul, who was incredibly patient with us, took the time to explain some of the dishes and gave us great recommendations. He was genuinely kind and welcoming. Everyone on my work team had recommended this place to me, and now I completely understand why. I’ll definitely be coming back! Highly recommended. ❤️

Came here with a few friends since we were in the area and saw they had stellar reviews. One of my friends is Indian and the other is half Pakistani, so they are very familiar with the foods and flavors. We ordered a few mains and starters to share including: butter chicken, lamb biriyani, garlic naan, cheese naan, and tandoori chicken. We felt the food was pretty average, missing the authentic salt and spices you’d expect from Indian cuisine- the food was a bit more tailored for European guests. Nonetheless, it was cooked well and beautifully presented. I also had a chai which was okay. The restaurant was packed when we came, I think they do a great job at ensuring the tables are cared for. Prices are reasonable, we only paid 27 euros each. Does appear that they have a decent selection of alcohol (though we didn’t have any). I left feeling full and satisfied. Servers seemed as friendly as I’d expect for a place this busy. I’d love to return to try some of their seafood dishes.

I think it’s important to call out businesses that do NOT abide their posted hours. Not only did we take the time to walk here out of our way, when we were told they were closed we didn’t have time to walk to our other choice. We arrived at 23:08 and their posted close time is 00:00. Closing before your posted time is not only bad for your business but bad for other restaurants because they lost a paying costumer while we wasted out time there.

I arrived at the restaurant and there were empty tables, but they refused to serve me because I was alone. 😂😂 WE DO NOT HAVE A TABLE FOR ONE PERSON! But I tried it on my previous trips and it was good.

We were a party of eight, including young children between the ages of 1 and 6. We arrived at the restaurant around 9:45 pm. As we were entering, we were told they were “taking a break”. When we asked how long the break would be, they simply said they didn’t know and turned us away. What made it even more frustrating was that we could clearly see them continuing to serve customers inside while refusing to seat us. The experience was extremely disappointing and felt very disrespectful. We were left standing outside with our kids and no explanation or alternative. I wish I could give zero stars for the service.

Poor customer service. While open at 9:45 pm turned us away saying they are on a break and when asked when they would resume the answer was i dnt know.

What a wonderful experience this was. The food was truly fantastic and the table presentation looked very well-cared for. The three different sauces in the wooden holder were an instant hit, in particular. I am very enthusiastic about the atmosphere at this place on the Rokin. It is highly recommended for anyone looking for a flavorful meal in a prime location. We will definitely be back.

A simple restaurant, but the food was excellent; I haven't had such good Indian food in a long time. There were also quite a few Indian guests, which I generally consider a good sign. A pleasant atmosphere with beautiful, modern photos that convey an Indian ambiance without the usual kitsch.
