Unexpectedly big, but nice place.

Just enjoying a nice bite and a drink...

I ordered a Bavette here, and the first piece was not tender. After taking several pieces out of my mouth after chewing because I couldn't finish them, I stopped eating after the umpteenth piece. I had hoped it was just a part of the meat, but unfortunately, the whole piece was simply tough. At least half of it was on the plate. I reported this, and they said it would be passed on to the kitchen. I heard nothing further about it. So I asked for the bill, and the full amount was listed. I suggested paying for half of my meat, but that wasn't possible because the plate was more than half empty. I did finish the fries, though. After insisting and asking around, half of this meat was eventually removed from the bill. Not a pleasant experience.

Food was served at a table that was far too small, with plates half-stuck on the edge. We asked to pull up a table, which we had to do ourselves!! As a result, drinks fell off the table and I had to pay for a new glass of drink. All in all, disappointing.

Pleasant terrace. Varied menu, but the food was disappointing. The carpaccio was a bit sinewy/tough. The stew itself contained delicious tender meat, but was extremely salty. The staff were attentive but reacted rather sharply to my feedback.

A wonderful place. We drank coffee and tea with pastries. The service was good and everything was delicious.

The staff were quite friendly and efficient, but the food is very mediocre. The Club Sandwich was meager, and the fried egg dish was actually ridiculous. The ham and cheese (for which you pay an extra four euros) were not cooked with the meat, but simply thrown onto two slices of bread with the eggs on top. That wasn't tasty, and besides, it cooled down very quickly. Not recommended.

Beautiful location with a cozy atmosphere. We started outside on the terrace, and that was truly enjoyable. For six people, we spent about €70 on drinks, including two pitchers of sangria and a selection of savory snacks. For a terrace in such a location, we considered that a very reasonable price. Afterwards, we went inside for dinner. Thanks to the air conditioning, it was pleasant inside, although the wait staff were moving back and forth a lot due to the busy terrace. That is understandable, but it was noticeable. The bread boards were delicious. The spareribs, hamburger, and chicken satay were also well-received. In terms of price-quality ratio, these dishes were fine. Unfortunately, the Caesar salad and the stew were a disappointment. The salad was very simple and lacked flavor. My stew contained a grand total of four very small pieces of meat (cubes), which were also not tender. The sauce was also very thin. After pointing this out twice, unfortunately, nothing was done about it. The response was that it can happen when serving that there is less meat in a portion. For a dish costing €25, I don't think that is an appropriate explanation, and the portion size is not commensurate with the price. Fortunately, the dessert made up for a lot. Everyone was very satisfied with that. In total, for six people, including drinks, two bread boards, and the dessert, we spent €235. We consider that a normal price for this location. The service was friendly and the staff worked incredibly hard. Sometimes things were a bit illogical, for example, the food was already on the table before the cutlery was brought, meaning no one could start eating yet. 😅 But given the huge crowds and the extreme heat, the staff absolutely deserves a compliment. 👏 They visibly did their utmost to ensure everyone had a pleasant evening. All in all, the majority of our party enjoyed a delicious meal and had a positive experience. Unfortunately, the disappointing dishes and the lack of a suitable solution after our complaint do drag the final score down.

The food is fine. The price-quality ratio is too high. The staff has little time for you; if you are still talking to him, he walks away already, twice. I couldn't even finish my question, so I just had a drink and a small snack, and dined elsewhere. Otherwise, good location.

Friendly and not overly polite staff, you feel welcome. The food is more than good, especially for the price. The staff is incredibly driven and friendly, drinks arrive very quickly, and they are very flexible regarding changing dishes. I cannot recommend this more than 100%. And we were here on a busy Saturday evening while the Netherlands was playing, so it was quite crowded (20/06/26).

I ordered bread with spreads once and got the driest bread I have ever had, with a terrible amount of flour on it; I really couldn't eat it. But usually the food is very tasty; I just wouldn't order bread with spreads here.

Nice on the terrace on a heavy summer day

We had dinner at Dordts Genoegen on Sunday evening, May 31st. The food itself was tasty, but the calamari was a bit on the salty side. Otherwise, the food was fine. At the beginning, the wait staff came to ask what we wanted to drink one after the other, right after the other, even though we had already ordered. Our starter arrived before our drinks. Drinks took a very long time, so we asked where they were. They went to look into it. Apparently, they had forgotten to pass it on to the bar. Once we had our drinks, everything ran smoothly and quickly. In terms of price, it was also quite expensive. We had 3 courses plus a bread basket with spreads. The music was just a little too loud. All in all, a reasonably good dinner.

Ensure that when the staff is on break, they do not talk about customers. We could hear everything. It was not polite.

Bizarre, employee throws a large full beer glass over me, no apology, no one to come and ask how it is being resolved. They just keep walking, I stand waiting for 5 minutes, eventually just go and ask for a cloth or something myself. But I was allowed to pay immediately, without compensation. Bizarre, I rarely write reviews, but I just have to write this one.

The food is very mediocre. Lacks flavor; you have to season your food with salt and pepper yourself. The spareribs and scampi were clearly ready-made straight from the freezer. Service was very slow and not really very polite. Cups came out of the dishwasher so hot that the ice cubes melted and your cola got warm. Not great for the wait time and the price.

Delicious drinks, friendly staff and fast/good service

The food was really tasty and the portions were good. However, the staff was mostly young and clearly inexperienced. Not unfriendly, but the girl who served us, for example, didn't respond to our empty glasses and was gone again after she had put our food down, before we could even order another drink. No one came by in the meantime to ask if we wanted to order anything else. I would have really liked another glass of wine, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible. The service was generally quick, though it took quite a while for our dessert to arrive. I can't say much about the atmosphere, because we were very early, so there weren't many guests yet. I suspect that it is very noisy in a full restaurant and that it probably takes a long time before you can order something or before your food is served. All in all fine, but there is still room for improvement regarding the hospitality and attentiveness of the staff, although I don't think that is due to unwillingness, but rather a lack of experience.

Rip-off on King's Day, paid full price for drinks and received them in a small plastic shot glass (wine, cocktail)

Nice terrace, had a nice time. It started raining heavily but the staff were proactive in putting up parasols. Bitterballen were tasty but almost spilled, see photo. Various beers available so a good choice!

Great restaurant. Just a minor point regarding the service. The cold platter for one of us arrived ten minutes late. They had forgotten to serve it. A pity, but otherwise, friendly service and quick service. Worth a repeat visit.

On Saturday, March 28th, we went to Dordtsgenoegen for lunch. After waiting for fifteen minutes, we went to ask if we could order a drink and see the lunch menu... They were actually very busy chatting with a few people at a staff table. After we finally had a drink and made a choice, I asked where our two club sandwiches were after waiting 30 minutes. The response was very uninterested: "Oh, then it didn't get through to the kitchen." We then went to pay without having enjoyed our lunch, so we could go eat elsewhere. When paying, we indicated once again that not everything was to our liking, but this gentleman also acted as if he didn't care and said that it wasn't processed correctly in the ordering computer. We are very disappointed and would expect at least an apology, but unfortunately, that wasn't to be.

Yeah, I don't know. The interior could really use a good makeover. Two coffees with cake, twenty euros was a bit much.

The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. Furthermore, the layout is spacious, allowing you to hold a normal conversation. The food is tasty and you get more than enough. They have also thought of vegetarian and vegan meals. They have children's menus as well. So, families are perfectly welcome here, but there are also tables for two.

Horrible experience with the staff here. As an American who had a wonderful time in Doredrecht, this was unfortunate. I accidentally spilled my glass of wine (after my first sip, of the day, mind you) and received cold stares from about 4-5 of the staff. They just stood and watched, only one of them assisting when I asked for a paper towel. They seemed extremely bothered and cold. I felt so embarrassed and almost just paid and left after that.

We ended up here on a company outing. The welcome wasn't exactly warm. The man who took our order, perhaps in charge, was very curt, and we felt more like a nuisance than a guest! Luckily, the food was good, compliments to the chef(s). But we won't be back.

I ordered coffee and pastries, but the pastries didn't arrive until the coffee was already cold. I would have preferred to have received them at the same time and with a napkin. The pastries were puff pastry, but not crispy, so they probably thawed in the oven. And my bill included two beers from other customers.

We ordered two flat white coffees. When the waitress placed them on the table, they looked completely different. When I asked if something had gone wrong, she said no. Two small glasses. One with 1/3 of the foam, and one with 1/5 of a small brown layer. Both were so strong they were almost undrinkable. Price for 2...11 euros! Not to be repeated!

We wanted to eat somewhere else, but it was full. Then we stumbled upon this place. The view from the front didn't immediately convince me, but once inside, it was quite full and there was a pleasant, bustling atmosphere. Excellent quality, delicious fresh bread. The prices were also quite reasonable. Highly recommended; we will definitely be back.

I ate here with a group of colleagues. The food was fine. But it was incredibly cold where we were seated. I mentioned it, and the answer was, they couldn't do anything about it. The result... many people were completely chilled. I personally won't be returning.

Good and friendly service. We had a large group, and the food arrived promptly and efficiently. They were very accommodating to special requests. A wheelchair-accessible door is located to the right of the entrance, and there's a wheelchair-accessible toilet downstairs. The only minor complaint was the beef stew, which had a lot of mushrooms in it but wasn't listed on the menu. They're going to change that. The desserts were excellent and looked beautiful too (millionaires shortbread with Dubai ice cream).

We popped in yesterday and had a delicious meal. We both had a main course and coffee/dessert. Good food, and plenty of it. A tip: as far as I'm concerned, whipped cream from a can is simply not appropriate for a €9.50 dessert. Other than that, we had a wonderful evening. Friendly and attentive staff.

It was a quiet evening, and the chef hunched over the table in boredom. There were four of us, and one person wanted soup as a main course, while the rest had burgers. The soup was served, and we had to wait for the burgers. Later, we returned the soup and asked for it (the second time) along with the burgers. The burgers were completely raw inside, so they were returned and overcooked. We ate the fries first, and when they were finished, the burgers arrived. There was a plastic cap in the soup! We called the waiter, who snatched the cap and walked away. Later, they said, "Sorry." The waiter came to apologize and said, "Soup will be taken off the bill." Sorry, what terrible service. They won't be seeing us again.

After many years, I had a delicious lunch with three friends. So much choice and generously topped. The goat cheese salad not only looked fantastic but tasted delicious.

Don't order the truffle fries! What a huge disappointment. We got a small container of fries with (and I'm not exaggerating) a tiny sliver of truffle sauce and tons of scallions. When we asked for extra truffle sauce, we got a tiny cup only a third full. We were so stunned by the small amount in the cup that we burst out laughing. Ridiculous, but hey, life goes on, haha.

We came here without researching the restaurant and we were very glad we did. We were quickly seated and had our order taken. The croquettes were absolutely delicious. The caramelised onions and the pistachio combined together to create outstanding flavours. The satay chicken was moist and generous in portion. The beef stew was perfectly spiced and very enjoyable. Great restaurant.

I went in here to eat but I wasn't even acknowledged by the staff. So I left. I found it very rude.

I used to love coming here. But now...? Dirty windows, sticky tables and chairs, dried-out flowers on the table, empty fragrance sticks in the toilet, and pretty much everything in the restroom is broken or in disrepair. The staff looks worn out. What a faded glory.

We have now been here for the 5th time with my family and every time the food is great, the service is great and the view of the canal is also great.

We get together with a group of friends a few times a year. This also happened during Big Rivers, and yes, one person in our group asked the staff the same question about the festival several times, which may have been a hindrance. But if you offer a final round at 11:00 PM, and they end up serving double, you shouldn't ask us to leave five minutes later. Shortly afterward, a young man of about 22, red-faced from possible excessive drinking, appeared in front of us, yelling, "If we didn't leave now, he'd call the police." It's a good thing we're all adults now, all well-connected, otherwise things would have gotten out of hand. With a bill of over 250 euros already paid, we left feeling a bit dazed and hungover from both the drinks and what had happened. We're never coming back. Thanks.

A pleasant square for food and drinks. The atmosphere is pleasant. The staff is friendly and welcoming. In the summer, they have a large outdoor terrace.

A restaurant of thieves and an insulting owner! We had lunch for 6 people on August 5, 2020, for a bill of €117.95. Back in France, we found that we had been charged €1,178.95. We contacted the restaurant by phone, and they asked us to send them an email about this. All we received in response were insults. So beware, this restaurant is full of thieves, and insulting at that! This is unprecedented for a retailer! We are taking legal action against this restaurant, which refuses to refund us despite its regulatory obligation and after attempts at mediation. They even threatened us because we posted a negative online review. The manager is a despicable character, a crook, and a thief. Don't go to this restaurant to support this thief!!! Restaurateur sentenced!

Wij kwamen een hapje eten en wat drinken met onze 2 kinderen. Bij binnenkomst werd ons gevraagd: “ kan ik iets voor jullie doen?” Aangeven dat we wat wilde eten en drinken. De bestelling was opgenomen en heb vriendelijk gevraagd of het mogelijk was om een muziekje aan te zetten. Het voelde aan als een dode boel. Op de eerste plaats werd de icetea green geserveerd met een warm glas uit de vaatwasser, zonder ijsblokjes. Nogmaals gevraagd om muziek. Ook was er een storm en spicy cocktail besteld.. zonder pepertjes en heel weinig rum werd deze geleverd. Na de medewerker hierop aangesproken te hebben werd er gesuggereerd dat de pepers op waren. Toen we aangaven dat het raar was dat je een product presenteert wat op de kaart staat en het niet compleet kan aanleveren kon er meer rum in.. uiteindelijk kwam het eten op tafel. Echter nog geen bestek. De pepermolen was leeg. En nog steeds geen muziek. En dat na 2 x vragen de extra patat die we gevraagd hadden was ook nog niet geleverd. Uiteindelijk toch gekozen om de cocktail die besteld was terug te geven aan de bar ondanks dat er ergens uit de keuken pepers waren gevonden. Hiermee ging het personeel niet akkoord. Het was extra rum erin en betalen, of weggooien en toch betalen voor de consumptie. Hierop hebben we besloten om te vertrekken. Uiteraard zonder 1 cent te betalen. Wat een teleurstelling!! Ze zouden zich moeten schamen!! Wij komen hier nooit meer terug.

The steak was cooked well, exactly as I had asked. The place itself is pleasantly lit, the music is set a bit too loud. The staff was reasonably nice, however the managers are a bit bossy. All in all a fine nice Dordrecht tourist restaurant, we were even sent away after 1 hour outside because they wanted to close the terrace, we sat on the benches that are usually always open, we thought that was a shame, that was said by the girl with blond hair and tattoos, she reacts quite angrily to the staff and shouts across the terrace, I didn't have a good feeling about that.

Very nice sunny terrace for a drink. Unfortunately we also had a sandwich for lunch. The sandwich was tasty, but very meager..a brown pistolet with some lettuce, 2 slices of carpaccio, a few pine nuts, a few flakes of cheese and some sauce on top. No garnish or anything "extra". All in all very meager and that for €14. Paid €40 in total for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. I'm not too bad to pay, but expect a bit more. Next time maybe just a drink.

Good food. Nice service. Toilet is upstairs, accessible via a steep staircase. That's not nice if you have difficulty walking.

We are just taking the water bus from Kinderdijk down to Dodrecht. Once we arrived off the water bus, we cross the street and went down a side street to get to the main square. We had not eaten all day so we stopped here for a bite. The menu was not in English, but it did not stop us from ordinary. The wait staff was excellent and helped us. Was actually easy to read a Dutch menu. For lunch, we had beer wine we started with bitterballen and served with mustard, we both opted for the whole grain bread club sandwich with potato chips. It was excellent. The staff was friendly helpful. The kitchen was fast and the place was pretty busy. The staff directed us across the road down to historical Street and we spent the next 30 minutes or so walking around some shops are open somewhat closed then headed back to the water bus down by the waterfront. Dodrecht quaint town to visit if you have an hour and like to cruise the waterways. I would definitely go back here again. The meal was great.

Wide choice, something for everyone. Service is very friendly and experienced. I ordered the stir-fried scampi, which were served boiling, perfect. I also had the bavette, a delicious and perfectly prepared piece of meat. Prices are also fine, and the portions are certainly not stingy. All in all, a nice evening with good food and drinks. Highly recommended!

The friendly staff does not make up for the fact that they serve old, dry factory bread and that there is a lot of smoking on the terrace.

Within 2 minutes we were asked 3 times if we already knew what we wanted to eat. That felt a bit rushed. The order also came through incorrectly. Not a disaster, but still a shame. Went here today, what a disappointment We had met friends and were going to have a bite to eat here at the end of the day. The weather was fantastic so we first took a seat on the terrace - and then the chaos began. Several waitresses took orders and served them as well. In itself that's a bit wrong, but then you look at who handed out the bill - well, that was a bit too much to ask and the chaos had already started. We explain several times and prove that we had already paid. When we then asked why the wine was more expensive than stated on the drinks menu, this was explained by the waitress - we were dealing with an outdated menu on the tables, but she did not know who trained this staff - unbelievable!!! Because we had reserved a table we finally went inside - but what a mistake this was! The assigned table was dirty and sticky, when we made a comment about this the waiter started a whole discussion with us, because it depended on the type of table top !!?? Who is in charge here and has explained to these people what customer friendliness means! Finally a server came and tried to clean the table with a half dry cloth and a bored face - but unfortunately she didn't feel like it and it had little effect. Finally ordered the food which was then served! The waiter with a strike around his neck handed out the plates but he had never heard of cutlery - when we made a comment about this he did not respond and walked away bored. Fortunately, a colleague was willing to bring the cutlery and he shouted out loudly "Then I will arrange it" - he deliberately did this so loudly that his colleague could hear it Was there anything positive to mention? Yes, that was the chef - the ordered medium bavette was a bit too raw and without grumbling the meat was prepared again including new garnish. At the end the cook came to ask if the meat was OK - look, that's how it should be! Dear owner - (and employees) Explain to your waiting staff what customer friendliness means and if this doesn't work, let them do something else for heaven's sake - oh yes and of course we didn't give a tip! Dear Chef - thank you for the service, but please find another employer - your qualities are not appreciated if the waiting staff treat customers this way - what a disappointment!!
