Douwe Egberts Café in Centrum

Very disappointing experience. The cashier staff were unprofessional and showed no proper customer service. The cheesecake I received was spoiled and clearly not fresh. When I asked to have it replaced with a fresh piece or another item, the employee refused without a valid reason. On top of that, his manner of speaking felt discriminatory and disrespectful. This is unacceptable. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place.

The coffee and cheesecake are quite good, especially for the price. However, the service is abysmal. Four young people behind the bar, and not one person moving around the room to clean the tables or check the restrooms. Those were also full of used dishes and dirty. We were told they don't offer table service, so we'd have to bring our own drinks. For the price we're paying, we think it would be reasonable if this were offered. In the 45 minutes we were there, we saw the staff enjoying coffee at a table, but not moving around the room to clean. Because of that, we won't be returning, which is a shame because the coffee is delicious.

I found it to be overpriced. I had choco mallow. Nothing special, paid 6 euros.

Not super satisfied. The atmosphere is okay. I don't often write reviews, but this time I did because I waited about 25 minutes in a non-busy line for an order that wasn't quite what I ordered. I know the staff are doing their best, but I think they're really understaffed.

Mostly i come there for coffee. The multiple times i came it has been comfortable, relaxing and the drinks are delicious. I am only aware that there are food choices for lunch and/or snack.

Relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Two floors, so plenty of seating. The restrooms were clean, but the trash cans were overflowing with paper; they could use a more frequent checkup.

A great place to work with your laptop, and they also serve delicious drinks. It's just a shame that when you order via QR code, you can't use your student discount or stamp your card.

I just had my 100th Latte Macchiato here. Enough to properly decipher the ultimate review for this place. And I must say: I am not disappointed. There are many aspects that make the experience here pleasant, but one stands above all: the extremely kind employees. They make me feel welcome, and they are one of the very reasons I can come here and feel like I’m at home away from home. I will treasure this place and my experiences here until the day I die. Sounds dramatic, but it’s the truth.

Normally very satisfied, but this time very disappointing. We ordered pancakes with butter and syrup, banana, and Nutella, but the butter and syrup were missing. The grilled sandwich with brie, pecans, honey, and tomatoes also lacked the tomato jam and had two thin slices of brie on it that were indistinguishable. Fortunately, the coffee was good.

Dirty bathrooms serve coffee or tea in cardboard cups because the others are dirty!

It's great to be able to work or study here during the day while enjoying a cup of coffee and pastry. Plenty of space, but often full.

I was glad it was finally quiet enough on Sunday afternoon that we could snag a spot. I just didn't like the atmosphere because almost everyone was working. And that's fine, but they were sometimes quite loud. The toasted sandwiches and drinks were delicious, though.

It took a little longer for my turn, but it was very busy. The staff works incredibly hard. It was lovely to relax with a cup of tea and a delicious strawberry tart—highly recommended! I'll definitely be back.

Ridiculous ordering and payment system!! Vending machine drinks...impersonal

It's a nice place, really. But it's full of people who treat it like a library, so they don't order anything and just sit and use the Wi-Fi and electricity. I found the cappuccino meh, and the apple pie tasted dry.

Service bare minimum. Coffee just ok, nothing special. Furniture a bit dirty, could use some vacuum water cleaning. Music a bit too loud for me.

Nice place to relax with a wide selection of coffee

I’ve been here a few times, to study with friends accompanied by some good drinks. My go-to is the matcha latte. The atmosphere is great for studying, though usually it is quite full and hard to find a spot if you’re with friends- especially for studying/working. Service in my experience has been very fast and nice. It’s a place where it’s very easy to focus on your work. I’d recommend!

Update!! Unfortunately, it's become very unpleasant for a long time. Every time we visit, the place is a mess. Young people are working there, unfortunately, unable to cope. They're clearly struggling to keep up with the crowds; they all look quite unhappy. It's no surprise that you can't find tissues or soap in the restrooms. Giving feedback to the staff just leads to a scolding. I've stopped drinking coffee there a long time ago. I only prefer sealed coffees. Every coffee they serve is different and tasteless than the last. That chaotic kitchen is already a real turnoff. It's very busy, very crowded every time I go, but it's also a cafe that's been left to the young people and left to fend for itself. If only there were a place to leave our food and drinks so we could leave them when we leave. The entire counter is covered in dishes and garbage. It's a very unpleasant sight. DISCOUNT THE COMMENT BELOW. Unfortunately, it's gone. We love having coffee here. It's quite comfortable and quite large. Their coffee isn't bad either. While not very frequent, we occasionally meet friends there and chat comfortably for a long time. Having a parking lot and bus stop very close by is quite advantageous. However, parking is quite expensive. So, we usually park further away or prefer to take the bus.

The tables are not cleaned. Whoever should be doing it should be laughing with their friends. There are dirty glasses on 7 tables, making it impossible to sit down.

I went there last weekend. The staff behind the counter was more involved with their friends who were in line behind me then with the waiting customers. As a result one of my coffee's was not really warm anymore because they took so much time preparring the second coffee because of chatting with they're friends (very annoying). The ordered coffe of their friends was even finshed before my 2nd one. I did mention if my 1st coffee was still hot as it was standing there for 5mins waiting on thr second one. The girl acted a bit resentful. The counter staff has no clue about customer service! Never again.

Today, I had the displeasure of having coffee at this café, where I waited thirty minutes to place my order, and after paying, I had to wait another thirty-five minutes. Then, they started moving the people behind me ahead of me. When I went to argue about my order, he quickly offered to refund my money, showing me that this was how they operated. I argued with one of the employees, and she started laughing in my face and treated me like an idiot. Then another staff member, who attended to me, didn’t even know what my order was, even though it was all logged in the system. I argued about why the people behind me were being served before me. Then they refunded my money, and I left, and just ten meters away, I found a much better café with polite staff who knew how to serve customers. I do not recommend anyone going to that place, because besides the long wait, it’s also very dirty and disorganized, and the employees are more lost than a confused cockroach. This generation of teenagers who want opportunities, before working with the public, need to understand what education and respect mean. And after all of this, there was not even an apology for the poor service, nor any acknowledgment of their mistakes.

I usually don’t leave reviews but decided to do so out of disappointment. I used to frequent this Cafe quite often, it’s a quiet and cozy place to come in and enjoy the luxury of a piece of pastry and some delicious coffee but now I’d rather go somewhere else. It’s seems that a bunch of kids are running the place and they all lack direction, while I was always met with a friendly smile and adequate service but recently I’ve been treated less as a person and more as a transaction. Dirty cups and plates everywhere and long waiting times, to no fault of the employees as it’s usually 3 kids serving countless people in a 2 story building. I hope to be able to return in the future with better conditions, but for now I’ll miss their delicious cheese cake.

Drink wasn't even full gift, manager super annoying

Well, how can I summarize it? Shame is probably the best word. It's a beautiful building in a great location. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff does their best. It's just always an unbelievable mess. Especially at and behind the counter, it's a sight to behold. I often feel tempted to start cleaning when I'm there, and I'm not much of a cleaner. I also think they're often short-staffed, which means they're constantly playing catch-up. If there's a manager, they could be a bit more proactive and create some structure. Right now, they're shooting themselves in the foot, and Douwe Egberts' reputation is also ruined... Three stars anyway because I do have sympathy for the business, but it could be so much better.

A very positive experience at 9:30 a.m. A friendly welcome, plenty of space, yet cozy and inviting. The upstairs floor also serves as the laptop zone. Quiet music played in the background. The breakfast platter was extensive with high-quality products. It was a pleasure to sit and enjoy the delicious food. It's a shame the soap supply in the ladies' room hadn't been checked. That's part of good business practice.

I ordered an Ice Mochaccino expecting absolutely nothing and I was so happily surprised! I don’t know what it is, but I just loved it! I also spent sometime there enjoying my iced mocha while reading a book at late afternoon and I had a great time. Would for sure go back for a lazy afternoon or cozy reading!

Waited 15+ minutes to order 3 coffees to go. Then the waitress decided to clean tables before making the coffees. Service was incredibly slow and inattentive.

We had a delicious breakfast. We bought a breakfast platter from Social Deal. We had a reservation for 10:00 AM but arrived half an hour early, which wasn't a problem. The service was friendly, and the breakfast was delicious and filling. We also found the atmosphere cozy and welcoming.

Tables are not being cleaned or cleared. When ordering via QR code, not all products are available. The Matcha Latte was served with ice cubes, so little of the flavor remains.

Saturday afternoon without Matcha, what's that? The lady behind the counter will give you a nasty mouth. A filthy mess of dirty containers, pigeons inside, dirty tables, dirty dishes everywhere. The ceiling pipes are covered in dust. Iced coffee without ice. Need I say more warm words?

I discovered this cafe by chance while visiting the center of Eindhoven. I especially liked the friendly atmosphere combined with the nice interior.

Great coffee, but what an unbelievable mess. Five people behind the counter, none of whom had a clue what they were doing. They had no regard for customers; dirty dishes were everywhere. The work area was far from clean; the display cases were covered in dust, and orders were always coming and going. There's a clear lack of leadership, insight, and genuine passion for the business. It's a real shame.

Very suspicious atmosphere, a manager Sander who looks to be around 40yo was always kind of flirting with my 20yo boyfriend which was insane to me….organization is chaos. the only thing this place is holding on to is all the waitresses who are so nice positive and kind.

The way you are helped at the counter is simply not professional, employees are running around and no one helps you and they are super slow service for 2 chocolate milk had to wait 25 minutes while no one was in front of me

Very nice and spacious cafeteria where you can spend a good time alone or in company. The upper floor is for working with a computer. I liked being able to place the order from the table with the QR code, but it took a long time to bring the coffee, although I was in no hurry, so it was worth it because the cortado was delicious. A smile from the employees would be appreciated! Highly recommended!

The ICED Mochaccino mocked its name. The atmosphere was cheap, the prices were expensive. The ashtrays were as full as the waitresses' eyes were blank.

I’ve been visiting this coffee place for a long time, either to work or to meet friends over coffee. One day, I had already bought a Starbucks coffee before coming in, but I decided to stop at Douwe Egberts with two others because we wanted to enjoy some desserts. We ordered two americanos and three desserts (around €20 in total). After placing and paying for our order, a staff member told me I wasn’t allowed to bring my Starbucks coffee inside. I explained that I understood the policy, but since I had just bought it and we had already ordered and paid here, it didn’t make sense to throw it away. I also mentioned that such policies should be clearly displayed for customers. Instead of handling it calmly, the staff member accused us of being “aggressive” simply because we pointed out that we had just spent €20 there. He even said he wouldn’t allow us to “speak to him like that,” which felt completely uncalled for. At no point were we rude — we were just trying to reason. Being treated in such a way, and even feeling threatened by staff, was a first for me in a café. We ended up asking for a refund and leaving. Unfortunately, as long as that particular staff member works there, I won’t be coming back.

The drinks were served hot with three ice cubes, the young man at the counter seemed to be asking for charity, no smile, no hospitality, you were almost afraid to talk to him, the tables were full of customers' orders, a shame for a very nicely decorated place in the center of the city!

Crappy cafe. Just to be clear: an ICE CAPPUCCINO shouldn't contain sugar. Period. But no, here they just throw in some sweet stuff, and when you complain, you're told that's "just the way it is" and that you should have gotten an iced latte. Seriously? That's like saying a regular cappuccino comes with three sugars by default. Who comes up with that? Downright disrespectful to the customer. The height of arrogance is that they dare to bring it as if I'm the one who misunderstood. Excuse me, but who's serving who here? I wasn't even offered an alternative drink—no, I was simply advised to go back to the back of the line for an iced latte. Because they're "busy." ABSURD! What a disgrace to the Douwe Egberts name. A brand that once stood for quality and hospitality, completely ruined by amateurish staff and bizarre working methods.

We ordered 2 coffees and a tea at the table with a QR code. After waiting for more than 20 minutes, we asked about it, and they said they were making it now.... After another 15 minutes, we still didn't get our order, so we left. :(

It was quite quiet now, which gives it a different atmosphere than when it's full. We received a friendly welcome, albeit in English. Plenty of options to choose from; I went for a cappuccino, and it tasted good. There were some tables outside, which was nice for chatting and people-watching.

Expensive coffee. The café itself is mainly visited by remote workers sitting with their laptop at the tables. From the outside, the café looks like a dark place. Inside the building there is a lot of breathing space. It doesn't feel like a space to stay long as it's not very cosy. Probably due to the height of the ceilings and the distance between the tables and seats.

Unclear where the line starts! First order, then pay or vice versa. Staff has little interest in the customer. This can and should be better

Ordered a coffee at the table via a QR code to work on the laptop for an hour. Apparently this is not allowed, or at least not at that table. There were more than enough other tables free, so I did not see/see the problem. What is different about a laptop, compared to a book or mobile phone? Fine if customers are addressed about using the table without (or with very little) consumption, but why refuse a potential customer because of using a laptop? Moreover, it was not written anywhere, so I left without trying the coffee. In the future I will look for another place to work for a short while.

In past i would always go to Starbucks but one time i got advised to check out Douwe Egberts in Eindhoven. My first impression when i walked inside was already wow! Place has awesome atmosphere that i immediately could find myself sitting there almost everyday. The coworkers are so kind and are really there to make you the best coffee and serve it to you with love. Especially the girl with green/blue stroke and curly black/brown hair. Her name is Elissa. One of the top workers there! U can feel that she makes every coffee with love☺️ The coffee is amazing! From now on this is my only place where i will be getting my coffee and woud recommend to everyone!!! More than worth it a try;)

Super nice place to study or work. If you go upstairs you have a lot of seats where you can sit with your laptop. Some places have sockets. The WiFi works well and together with the QR ordering system you can focus undisturbed. Unfortunately no coffee tasted, but from the menu they looked good.

First standing in line, not helped but forwarded with the request to order from the qr of a table. Then other guests are helped and when you ask after 25 minutes if the order has been received you get a nasty answer. The experience was not good.

What an incredibly bad experience! First stood in line for 10 minutes, was told, no, order via table because that is faster.. 30 minutes later and still nothing. When you ask a young lady if it is again to wait 45 minutes for nothing in a semi-empty tent, you also get a rude answer from her side. I doubt the education of the staff and the screening process. Once and never again!

The service is unprofessional. We requested politely to have our table cleaned, but we were ignored. The coffee was served in small carton cups with no reasonable excuse. Overall, quite overrated place.

The coffees came in paper cups. The staff didn’t clean the table. The manager had no explanation for the paper cups. It’s too expensive for the quality of the food and service.

Too many students taking up space with laptops. There is no more space left to quickly drink or eat something. The staff has to chase students away from tables that are supposedly laptop-free...but the students do not comply.

The quality and taste of your drink, as well as the food presentation, directly depend on the person serving you. If you happen to be served by a brunette with a green streak in her hair or a skinny light brown-haired girl wearing large glasses — don’t expect politeness or friendliness, let alone high-quality service. It’s because of employees like them that I’m not too eager to return to this café. The rest of the staff are pleasant and welcoming, though.

It's a laid back cafe. Many people are working there, so it's not a good place to chat with friends (^◇^;) The cake was delicious.

Huge place, great to meet or work

Today I walked past Douwe Egberts at exactly 16.20 and saw that someone had forgotten his or her bag at a table outside. I went inside to report it to the young ladies behind the counter, but no response was given. In the end I brought the bag inside myself, but they were not interested. I walked outside extremely surprised. And I was more or less waved goodbye. Imagine being a paying customer here and forgetting something!

Coffee is OK, the place has a nice atmosphere, a bit chilly (interior design).

We had ordered via social deal but we were not even allowed to sit there while that was not indicated anywhere. The girl who made our drinks was also very irritated and not customer friendly. The atmosphere was quite nice and I have been there more often so I thought it was a shame that it had to go like this. My matcha had lumps and tasted like paracetamol + the matcha comes from a bottle. The girl worked very sloppy and almost dropped everything. Not recommended. The girl had eyeliner and bleached hair at the bottom.

Located in the center of Eindhoven, a stone's throw from Markt square. It's worth it just for the sake of looking at the place, carefully crafted in a modern style. We had an Italian breakfast (coffee milk, cappuccino, chocolate cake and apple pie). All very good and fresh. Prices in line for Holland, expensive compared to Italy. On average 4.5 euros for each product purchased, 18 euros and change for breakfast

I had high expectations for the Douwe Egberts Café in Eindhoven, but my experience was downright disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt cold and uninviting. The interior looks outdated and lacks the warm, inviting ambiance you would expect from a coffee shop. The staff was disinterested and unfriendly. When I finally managed to get the attention of an employee, I was met with an uninspired look and an uninterested attitude. Ordering took far too long, even though it was not busy at all. When my coffee was finally served, it was lukewarm and watery, definitely not the quality you would expect from a brand like Douwe Egberts. In addition, the price-quality ratio was far below par. For a simple cappuccino I paid an amount you would expect at a luxury coffee shop, but the taste was bland and the foam layer soft. The cake I ordered with it was also dry and did not seem fresh. The most annoying thing of all was the state of the café itself. The tables were dirty, there were used cups everywhere and no one seemed to be responsible for cleaning. The toilets were downright filthy and smelled unpleasant, which further ruined the overall experience. I expected much better from a café that bears the name of Douwe Egberts. This visit was a waste of money and time. For a good cup of coffee in a pleasant atmosphere I highly recommend going somewhere else. I will definitely never come back here.

Very nice place, with industrial character. Good coffee and tasty muffin, but in a half empty place we had to wait exactly 20 minutes for 2 cups. Order was placed on the table with a measured 'Here you go'. No spoons, napkin for the muffin or instructions where to find sugar or milk. Staff was mainly giggling and on their phones, so that tables and dirty dishes were not cleared and/or sugar, milk etc. were not refilled. And then the toilets: downright filthy! Toilet paper everywhere on the floor, overflowing garbage bins, no paper towels and an incredibly dirty hand dryer. Yuck! Too bad for such a nice place. I would say: put someone in charge and fix things up, otherwise it will never be anything again...

Great coffee and delicious pastries. I liked that there is a special coffee, not just the usual one. They cook very quickly, and there is a convenient QR code ordering system. The interior of the cafe is very beautiful, there are many places. Thank you 🌸

Food and drinks are very good. Fast internet, calm environment, plenty of sockets, a great place to listen to music and work.

Nice looking place, you can order via your phone. We did that and even though the place was half empty we had to wait more than twenty minutes for two coffees and a muffin. The toilets were dirty, lots of paper on the floor but unfortunately no paper to dry your hands. It's a shame that such poor service is provided in such a beautiful business.

A lot of dirty tables, uncomfortable atmosphere, cheesecake was frozen (literally was with the ice), coffee was not the best 3/5. The prices are too high for such poor quality.
