Douwe Egberts Café in Centrum

I sat down for a cappuccino. Ordered and paid immediately via a QR code. 5 euros for a medium cappuccino. After fifteen minutes, it was placed on the table, without a saucer, spoon, cookie, or anything similar... You shouldn't come here for the service or price/quality ratio.

We sat here today with my grandma, brother, and sister. We certainly didn't have to wait more than 30 minutes for our simple drinks (tea, lemonade). Nice place, extensive menu, but far too little staff and manpower to keep the business running. I wouldn't go back here.

Unfortunately, I have had to change my review. A while ago I was a real fan of this place, but the quality has deteriorated significantly in a short time. The iced coffees and matchas are incredibly weak, even though you pay full price. My toasted sandwich was as hard as stone and the service is very poor and slow; the wrong drink was brought, I was supposed to get the right one but this took an incredibly long time, it turned out they had forgotten it and I had to chase after it myself. I don't know what has happened to this nice place, but it is just a real shame.

Great place for a coffee and a snack. Excellent service and friendly service staff. Definitely my favourite place to catch up with friends and enjoy a good coffee.

They dont have enough space. We took so many things like coffe tart and more they didnt let us use our laptops and told us to take them away. It is a place we were going everday. Such a shame...

Love the location and the vibe of the place right in the city centre, but the wait times are unacceptable. We waited 55 minutes for a single coffee today. The staff never mentioned a delay, and they seemed completely overwhelmed and understaffed once the place started filling up. If you're short on time, avoid this spot.

I waited 58 minutes. From 16:09 to 17:07 I don't even see the stuff stressed. I asked them 2 times if it's a self service or if my order is ok. I don't know what is happening with the management.

It took 40 minutes before we received a soft drink and coffee (after ordering). Bizarrely bad service. And it wasn't even that busy.

I ordered iced coffee together with my friend. The order was forgotten and I waited more than one hour for it. I decided to go downstairs to ask because the servers upstairs said they can't help. It turned out my coffee was ready for one hour but nobody brought it upstairs. They didn't not offer to remake it (all the ice was melted and the whipped cream was awful) and didn't appologised, just told me to bring it up. It's the first time I'm actually leave a negative review to a place, I understand is very busy but I wouldn't won't to ever visit again.

We had ordered a healthy pistolet and an egg salad pistolet. In my experience, a pistolet is larger. The roll we received was a Belgian pistolet. Relatively speaking, we found it quite pricey. Ordering was a bit cumbersome.

I always enjoy coming here to study and have a drink. The coffee is always good, as are the other drinks. What I also really like is that the café is open daily until 10:00 PM. This allows you to sit here for a long time, especially if you are studying or have a meeting. The atmosphere and decor also make it a very pleasant place to spend time. Service does sometimes take a bit longer, especially when it is busy. Additionally, I find it a shame that there are small rolls on the menu these days instead of bread/toast. I remember ordering a salmon sandwich here about two years ago, and back then you still got two slices of bread instead of a small roll. Personally, I liked that better, and I also find some of the sandwiches to be quite expensive. Furthermore, I would like to mention that the toilets, especially later in the evening, sometimes look messy and unhygienic. Of course, I understand that this is mainly due to customers and not the staff. Perhaps it would be helpful to have someone quickly check the toilets in between, for example to empty the bins and keep everything a bit tidier. It would also be nice if there was toilet spray available at every toilet. But despite these points, I still really enjoy coming here and continue to find it a cozy and pleasant place 😊

My absolute favourite cafe in Eindhoven! I have spent endless hours working from DE cafe and I recommend it to everyone. Their opening hours make it so convenient to visit, as they're open till late in the evening (unlike others). The food is decent, but their collection of coffees and iced drinks is amazing. The service is great and it's so easy to order with the qr codes. The vibes are cosy and very comfortable. They have ample seating but still gets busy sometimes. The location also makes it a great spot for a mid-shopping coffee break. As a local, I don't know what I would do without this place. It feels like a second home to me <3

I used to love coming here but not anymore. It’s dirty, the service is slow and my order today was disappointing. I ordered their Berry Bliss, which I have many times, so I know exactly what it looks like. I watched the lady today behind the counter make it (the working counters are disgusting) and I was shocked. She used a jug that had been used to make someone else’s milky drink, to make a berry drink. She didn’t even wash it. The drink ended up being cloudy from the milk and the milk set on the foam of the drink which also should not have been there. Very disappointed and I find this highly unprofessional. Definitely don’t recommend going here!

Coffee cafe in the heart of Eindhoven. Had delicious coffee and pastries. Friendly service. Nicely decorated place. It has a bit of a Starbucks feel to it! Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Ridiculous place! You have to wait forever for your food, then you get something you didn't ask for or it arrives cold. Definitely not recommended. I'm never coming back here!

Huge disappointment regarding food, drinks, and service. 3 small pancakes for €7.65, brie sandwich with barely any brie or pecan nuts, lukewarm cappuccino and coffee. They have no table service; you have to order your food at the counter or via a QR code. At the counter, they speak to you in English, which makes it harder to raise your complaint than in Dutch. I had expected better from Douwe Egberts.

I really like this place. A pretty spacious and cozy place with good service and facilities to spend a few hours reading a book, working with your laptop, or chatting with your friends.

Waited endlessly for a takeaway coffee

Amazing atmosphere with very good personnel. Drinks are nice and food is okay, but there’s 1 thing that’s bad: the management. Last year they made up the stupid policy of every drink you get, you can sit for 1 hour. They dropped it because it sucked. There are loyalty cards (stamp cards), whereas you get your 11th drink for free. Now I find out that they shouldn’t give you stamps if you got a discount on your drink. And I’m a student, so I have a small 10% discount as a student (still, the smallest drink I will get is more than 5 euros after the discount). I find this policy very stupid. And in the almost 3 years of visiting this specific cafe, I personally see the impact these policies have on people. Hopefully management stops being greedy and becomes more friendly to the customers. I’m saying this all with love, because the product is already really good, I believe the way to win is to increase ‘availability’.

Iced coffee without ice... lukewarm and poorly blended. Cheesecake mediocre. Incompetent staff who don't communicate but do have time for friends on the work floor.

Very disappointed with our visit. The hot ginger tea was served in a tall glass without a sleeve, making it impossible to hold without getting burned. The iced lemon tea was basically plain water; we had to go downstairs to ask them to actually add flavor. To top it off, our first table was dirty and we had to move. Overall, a lack of basic care and cleanliness.

Long wait times for orders, 30 minutes for four coffees, one of which they forgot to bring to the table. Sticky glasses, overly sweet coffees. It's hard to ruin a coffee, but they totally succeeded here. Furthermore, the tables were dirty and the place wasn't cleaned promptly after customers left.

Such a nice café! Its spacious and cosy, the only downside is that it is so extremely dirty sometimes. The later it gets, the dirtier it becomes... Please hire more people, the friendly girls can't handle it all apparently.

Had lunch at the Douwe Egberts café on Saturday afternoon. Nice atmosphere, clean, and a lovely kids' corner! The smoked salmon roll is highly recommended.

March 28. Ordered via app at 7:46 PM. Requested a refund at 8:16 PM due to lack of service. Four ladies behind the counter who were mainly busy chatting amongst themselves.

I have ordered “Clear Whey Ice Tea Peach” but received a completely different drink. No explanation or solution from staff.

Nice coffee, but usually takes too long to order my straightforward traditional coffee (despite the fact that there seems to be enough staff). Hard to find a small table, since clearing up seems too difficult for customers and staff. Despite that I keep coming back. So they seem to do something right! A month later and still the same: had to ask staff whether they are open for an order. Seems they are afraid of customers 😜

Good coffee, but no cookie with it.

No cups available because absolutely all the tables are piled high with dirty crockery; nothing has been cleaned up. The staff doesn't make any effort either; if you get coffee in a cup, it's pathetic.

I received rude service when taking my order. The order wasn't taken correctly, and when I tried to explain it in Dutch, the person walked away because it had to be in English otherwise they wouldn't help me. I come every Friday evening, but today was the last time.

A very nice café! Perfect for a quick break.

Very bad coffee taste, I think it was burned or the machine was not properly cleaned. The table was very very dirty and when I asked the servant to clean it she told me she had not time since busy and turned back. Shocking! I also remember that in the past DE employees dressed with some DE uniforms while now they simply work with their own clothes. Last but not least, I felt very upset when leaving the place and seeing all employees doing simply nothing, smiling, chatting and looking at their phones when the place was dusty, dirty and full of abandoned used cups all around. All in all, not a nice experience, even if very well paid… Dear D&E… I suspect a lack of director/manager checking the quality of work is the main issue. Very surprised by this lack of hygiene in a DE coffe bar, hygiene is a not negotiable must-have in a coffe bar. For the moment you lost a customer, and if you do not act to improve quality and customer satisfaction asap I do not see an amazing future for this place.

I've been waiting upstairs for my order for an hour and a half. Should I just leave my laptop unattended and go downstairs to get my order?

Truly the absolute worst place to drink tea....they don't have Earl Grey...after waiting half an hour, I had to ask for it myself....outrageous 3.85 euros for a disgusting, untasting tea, the staff were unfriendly, and there was a huge mess on every table....QR code to order, how so hhhh, they should be happy that someone comes....expensive and very unfriendly to customers/people.

I find it chaotic. Far too many staff. They're constantly chatting behind the bar. Customers are waiting and don't understand anything, with their phones in tow. It's really unprofessional. They're also not friendly to the customers because they're only busy with each other.

My fav cafe in Eindhoven. Visited it twice for 2 days. Comfy place suitable for online job also to chill. The marshmellow coffe was a spot on! Also the apple tart was very delicious. Totally reccomend that place! Also it works pretty lately compared to the other bars/cafes in the city center.

It's deteriorated enormously since a few years ago. It's a student hotspot, and there are measures in place to address this. For example, laptops aren't allowed on the ground floor, which is completely understandable. What's incomprehensible is that the quality of the drinks AND the service continues to decline. If you go in to order at the bar, you have to wait even during quieter times before you can order, even if there's no line. We all know how busy restaurants get, but you can always just say "sorry, I'll be right there." I waited 10 minutes, indicated twice that I wanted to order, and the woman behind the bar simply didn't come. I also feel like they don't put any effort into the drinks. I had a matcha with tons of lumps, which was simply undrinkable. The young man behind the bar was polite and said I would get a new one, only to be given a matcha with 99% milk AND even more matcha lumps. Even if you eat in, you're often given paper cups and wooden forks to save on dishes. The concept is very nice and fun, but the service is poor in most cases, and the quality is also declining. In my opinion, the toilets are never cleaned; there's toilet paper on the floor at all hours of the day, the soap is gone, etc.

Very friendly staff, excellent service. The food and drinks were delicious as usual. My colleagues on the afternoon of Thursday, January 15, 2026, deserve a bonus for their service :) I'll definitely be back.

Nice quiet environment to enjoy your drink, you can bring your laptop and sit down on desks, charge your laptop/phone etc. Free wifi and a smart way to order drinks, scan qr code of your table, order, pay and they bring your order to your table. EDIT(14/01/26): Always a nice experience, adding some more pictures. One remark, WC had no soap to wash your hands / Wish we had one in Helmond so I can visit each week heh

My favorite coffee shop because it feels like the coffee shops in Turkey.

Very disappointing experience. The cashier staff were unprofessional and showed no proper customer service. The cheesecake I received was spoiled and clearly not fresh. When I asked to have it replaced with a fresh piece or another item, the employee refused without a valid reason. On top of that, his manner of speaking felt discriminatory and disrespectful. This is unacceptable. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place.

The coffee and cheesecake are quite good, especially for the price. However, the service is abysmal. Four young people behind the bar, and not one person moving around the room to clean the tables or check the restrooms. Those were also full of used dishes and dirty. We were told they don't offer table service, so we'd have to bring our own drinks. For the price we're paying, we think it would be reasonable if this were offered. In the 45 minutes we were there, we saw the staff enjoying coffee at a table, but not moving around the room to clean. Because of that, we won't be returning, which is a shame because the coffee is delicious.

Not super satisfied. The atmosphere is okay. I don't often write reviews, but this time I did because I waited about 25 minutes in a non-busy line for an order that wasn't quite what I ordered. I know the staff are doing their best, but I think they're really understaffed.

Mostly i come there for coffee. The multiple times i came it has been comfortable, relaxing and the drinks are delicious. I am only aware that there are food choices for lunch and/or snack.

Relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Two floors, so plenty of seating. The restrooms were clean, but the trash cans were overflowing with paper; they could use a more frequent checkup.

I just had my 100th Latte Macchiato here. Enough to properly decipher the ultimate review for this place. And I must say: I am not disappointed. There are many aspects that make the experience here pleasant, but one stands above all: the extremely kind employees. They make me feel welcome, and they are one of the very reasons I can come here and feel like I’m at home away from home. I will treasure this place and my experiences here until the day I die. Sounds dramatic, but it’s the truth.

Normally very satisfied, but this time very disappointing. We ordered pancakes with butter and syrup, banana, and Nutella, but the butter and syrup were missing. The grilled sandwich with brie, pecans, honey, and tomatoes also lacked the tomato jam and had two thin slices of brie on it that were indistinguishable. Fortunately, the coffee was good.

It's a nice place, really. But it's full of people who treat it like a library, so they don't order anything and just sit and use the Wi-Fi and electricity. I found the cappuccino meh, and the apple pie tasted dry.

I’ve been here a few times, to study with friends accompanied by some good drinks. My go-to is the matcha latte. The atmosphere is great for studying, though usually it is quite full and hard to find a spot if you’re with friends- especially for studying/working. Service in my experience has been very fast and nice. It’s a place where it’s very easy to focus on your work. I’d recommend!

Update!! Unfortunately, it's become very unpleasant for a long time. Every time we visit, the place is a mess. Young people are working there, unfortunately, unable to cope. They're clearly struggling to keep up with the crowds; they all look quite unhappy. It's no surprise that you can't find tissues or soap in the restrooms. Giving feedback to the staff just leads to a scolding. I've stopped drinking coffee there a long time ago. I only prefer sealed coffees. Every coffee they serve is different and tasteless than the last. That chaotic kitchen is already a real turnoff. It's very busy, very crowded every time I go, but it's also a cafe that's been left to the young people and left to fend for itself. If only there were a place to leave our food and drinks so we could leave them when we leave. The entire counter is covered in dishes and garbage. It's a very unpleasant sight. DISCOUNT THE COMMENT BELOW. Unfortunately, it's gone. We love having coffee here. It's quite comfortable and quite large. Their coffee isn't bad either. While not very frequent, we occasionally meet friends there and chat comfortably for a long time. Having a parking lot and bus stop very close by is quite advantageous. However, parking is quite expensive. So, we usually park further away or prefer to take the bus.

Today, I had the displeasure of having coffee at this café, where I waited thirty minutes to place my order, and after paying, I had to wait another thirty-five minutes. Then, they started moving the people behind me ahead of me. When I went to argue about my order, he quickly offered to refund my money, showing me that this was how they operated. I argued with one of the employees, and she started laughing in my face and treated me like an idiot. Then another staff member, who attended to me, didn’t even know what my order was, even though it was all logged in the system. I argued about why the people behind me were being served before me. Then they refunded my money, and I left, and just ten meters away, I found a much better café with polite staff who knew how to serve customers. I do not recommend anyone going to that place, because besides the long wait, it’s also very dirty and disorganized, and the employees are more lost than a confused cockroach. This generation of teenagers who want opportunities, before working with the public, need to understand what education and respect mean. And after all of this, there was not even an apology for the poor service, nor any acknowledgment of their mistakes.

The tables are not cleaned. Whoever should be doing it should be laughing with their friends. There are dirty glasses on 7 tables, making it impossible to sit down.

I went there last weekend. The staff behind the counter was more involved with their friends who were in line behind me then with the waiting customers. As a result one of my coffee's was not really warm anymore because they took so much time preparring the second coffee because of chatting with they're friends (very annoying). The ordered coffe of their friends was even finshed before my 2nd one. I did mention if my 1st coffee was still hot as it was standing there for 5mins waiting on thr second one. The girl acted a bit resentful. The counter staff has no clue about customer service! Never again.

I usually don’t leave reviews but decided to do so out of disappointment. I used to frequent this Cafe quite often, it’s a quiet and cozy place to come in and enjoy the luxury of a piece of pastry and some delicious coffee but now I’d rather go somewhere else. It’s seems that a bunch of kids are running the place and they all lack direction, while I was always met with a friendly smile and adequate service but recently I’ve been treated less as a person and more as a transaction. Dirty cups and plates everywhere and long waiting times, to no fault of the employees as it’s usually 3 kids serving countless people in a 2 story building. I hope to be able to return in the future with better conditions, but for now I’ll miss their delicious cheese cake.

Drink wasn't even full gift, manager super annoying

A very positive experience at 9:30 a.m. A friendly welcome, plenty of space, yet cozy and inviting. The upstairs floor also serves as the laptop zone. Quiet music played in the background. The breakfast platter was extensive with high-quality products. It was a pleasure to sit and enjoy the delicious food. It's a shame the soap supply in the ladies' room hadn't been checked. That's part of good business practice.

Well, how can I summarize it? Shame is probably the best word. It's a beautiful building in a great location. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff does their best. It's just always an unbelievable mess. Especially at and behind the counter, it's a sight to behold. I often feel tempted to start cleaning when I'm there, and I'm not much of a cleaner. I also think they're often short-staffed, which means they're constantly playing catch-up. If there's a manager, they could be a bit more proactive and create some structure. Right now, they're shooting themselves in the foot, and Douwe Egberts' reputation is also ruined... Three stars anyway because I do have sympathy for the business, but it could be so much better.

I ordered an Ice Mochaccino expecting absolutely nothing and I was so happily surprised! I don’t know what it is, but I just loved it! I also spent sometime there enjoying my iced mocha while reading a book at late afternoon and I had a great time. Would for sure go back for a lazy afternoon or cozy reading!

We had a delicious breakfast. We bought a breakfast platter from Social Deal. We had a reservation for 10:00 AM but arrived half an hour early, which wasn't a problem. The service was friendly, and the breakfast was delicious and filling. We also found the atmosphere cozy and welcoming.

Tables are not being cleaned or cleared. When ordering via QR code, not all products are available. The Matcha Latte was served with ice cubes, so little of the flavor remains.

Saturday afternoon without Matcha, what's that? The lady behind the counter will give you a nasty mouth. A filthy mess of dirty containers, pigeons inside, dirty tables, dirty dishes everywhere. The ceiling pipes are covered in dust. Iced coffee without ice. Need I say more warm words?

Great coffee, but what an unbelievable mess. Five people behind the counter, none of whom had a clue what they were doing. They had no regard for customers; dirty dishes were everywhere. The work area was far from clean; the display cases were covered in dust, and orders were always coming and going. There's a clear lack of leadership, insight, and genuine passion for the business. It's a real shame.

Very suspicious atmosphere, a manager Sander who looks to be around 40yo was always kind of flirting with my 20yo boyfriend which was insane to me….organization is chaos. the only thing this place is holding on to is all the waitresses who are so nice positive and kind.

Very nice and spacious cafeteria where you can spend a good time alone or in company. The upper floor is for working with a computer. I liked being able to place the order from the table with the QR code, but it took a long time to bring the coffee, although I was in no hurry, so it was worth it because the cortado was delicious. A smile from the employees would be appreciated! Highly recommended!

The ICED Mochaccino mocked its name. The atmosphere was cheap, the prices were expensive. The ashtrays were as full as the waitresses' eyes were blank.

I’ve been visiting this coffee place for a long time, either to work or to meet friends over coffee. One day, I had already bought a Starbucks coffee before coming in, but I decided to stop at Douwe Egberts with two others because we wanted to enjoy some desserts. We ordered two americanos and three desserts (around €20 in total). After placing and paying for our order, a staff member told me I wasn’t allowed to bring my Starbucks coffee inside. I explained that I understood the policy, but since I had just bought it and we had already ordered and paid here, it didn’t make sense to throw it away. I also mentioned that such policies should be clearly displayed for customers. Instead of handling it calmly, the staff member accused us of being “aggressive” simply because we pointed out that we had just spent €20 there. He even said he wouldn’t allow us to “speak to him like that,” which felt completely uncalled for. At no point were we rude — we were just trying to reason. Being treated in such a way, and even feeling threatened by staff, was a first for me in a café. We ended up asking for a refund and leaving. Unfortunately, as long as that particular staff member works there, I won’t be coming back.

Reliable consistent coffee at all locations.

The drinks were served hot with three ice cubes, the young man at the counter seemed to be asking for charity, no smile, no hospitality, you were almost afraid to talk to him, the tables were full of customers' orders, a shame for a very nicely decorated place in the center of the city!

A nice place to work and order a cup of coffee (or something else)

Crappy cafe. Just to be clear: an ICE CAPPUCCINO shouldn't contain sugar. Period. But no, here they just throw in some sweet stuff, and when you complain, you're told that's "just the way it is" and that you should have gotten an iced latte. Seriously? That's like saying a regular cappuccino comes with three sugars by default. Who comes up with that? Downright disrespectful to the customer. The height of arrogance is that they dare to bring it as if I'm the one who misunderstood. Excuse me, but who's serving who here? I wasn't even offered an alternative drink—no, I was simply advised to go back to the back of the line for an iced latte. Because they're "busy." ABSURD! What a disgrace to the Douwe Egberts name. A brand that once stood for quality and hospitality, completely ruined by amateurish staff and bizarre working methods.

Ordered my tea at the table. After 20 minutes I clamimed, and got the answer it is just made. After 35 minutes I gave up and left the place.

Cozy place, but incredibly slow. Long lines and inattentive staff. I waited half an hour for an orange juice that just needed to be poured. I used to come here often, but I'd rather go elsewhere this time.
