Douwe Egberts Café in Centrum

Ordered 3 lemonades of different flavors, all 3 were completely different from the description. Additionally, the staff sitting on the counter chatting happily with other colleagues and paying absolutely no attention to the customers. Not a nice place; tables are not cleared or cleaned.

Delicious cold coffee mixes. Not cheap. Industrial decor. Cozy but noisy.

The atmosphere is nice but make sure to ask to add less syrup if you order Mango Matcha or Strawberry Matcha because it is impossible to drink. Carrot cake and iced latte here are really good though

Great atmosphere. Very good alternative to Starbucks for people who want to work or study in quiet and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Situated right in the heart of the city and lots of amazing places nearby. Friendly and helpful staff. It is very spacious as well. Very popular among the younger demographics.

Ordered two coffees; filled to the brim meaning you have to slurp first, cups dirty, old coffee stains, and the saucer was a puddle. And you're sitting in a coffee house of a real coffee brand. You pay more than eight euros for that. I mentioned this, but the new cups were dirty too. Next, both soap dispensers in the restroom were empty, including the ladies' restroom. I reported this. Stopped by again at the end of the day and exactly what I suspected: they were all still empty. Worthless place.

A half-empty cup and then placing a takeaway order for €6 anyway, even though I had said I would be using it inside. Never coming back. Total scammers!

So great place for working! It has two floors, so you do not need to worry about overcrowding, and design of the interior is truly cozy. Moreover, they have delicious coffee specialties and great choice of pastries. The only minus is that they don’t have a greta choice of salt meals. Fortunately, it is located in the center of Eindhoven, surrounded by dozens of restaurants, so it is mot such a huge problem. I am sure I will definitely visit this place again, thank you!

It is too informal; you have to order via your phone or walk to a bar, which I don't like. The coffee is good though, and so are the sandwiches.

My girlfriend and I went inside for a quick visit to use the toilet. When my girlfriend opened the door to the women's restroom, the entire wall, toilet seat, and door were covered in poop. We didn't think this was normal, hence this bad review. This is already the second time this has happened. Last time we thought, you know, this can happen once in a while, it happens to everyone, but this time my girlfriend walked out of the toilet married to that guy. Hence this review. Hopefully, you will do something about this, and good luck with the cleaning.

5 Euros for a glass of hot water and a bag of tea. Lol.

The air-conditioned, cool environment with comfortable seating offers great comfort in the hot weather, but the items served don't match the pictures on the menu, and the delivery person did nothing to clear the table or clean up any mess.

To start with, the two pieces of cake and the coffee and iced coffee were tasty. That much is said. But… speaking English in a Dutch establishment, Douwe Egberts?? Ordering at the counter yourself and taking it to your table??? Well no, I find that quite strange. And that’s not to mention the price, 21 euros! A bit much. It is a cool building, though.

It took a while for the allergen chart to be produced and for it to become clear what was possible. But the atmosphere is friendly and the space is enormous, which creates a relaxed feeling.

I've been here several times before. On the one hand, it's a nice place to sit for a bit, but it is often dirty and messy. There is clearly not enough staff to clear and wipe down the tables, so you have to clear a table yourself before you sit down. Both the iced cappuccino and the iced Chai latte had really very little flavor and were more lukewarm than iced. On top of that, we got them in plastic cups, no saucer, no spoon, nothing, and that for almost 6 euros per drink! The toasted sandwich and brownie were tasty though.

When did an iced matcha made with only milk become so sweet? This is the second time we’ve ordered here. I asked for no syrup twice, but they still gave me an extremely sweet matcha. I’ve never had a matcha this sweet anywhere else. Maybe it’s time to train your staff better. Total waste of money. Also it smells bad inside the café all the time.

I had an iced vanilla matcha latte; the vanilla syrup was very sweet, you might want to order half the serving. The medium-sized glass also had too much milk, but I liked it, it was delicious.

Nice quiet environment to enjoy your drink, you can bring your laptop and sit down on desks, charge your laptop/phone etc. Free wifi and a smart way to order drinks, scan qr code of your table, order, pay and they bring your order to your table. EDIT(14/01/26): Always a nice experience, adding some more pictures. One remark, WC had no soap to wash your hands / Wish we had one in Helmond so I can visit each week heh. I was at Douwe Egberts today with my partner. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive, and the food (we had the Ham & Cheese Croque) was very tasty. Something must have changed. The last time, in December 2025, it was really bad. Perhaps they finally have a new manager who knows what he is doing. In any case, it is a clearly positive change. We would love to come back.

It's my favorite spot and been going there for the past 3 years. However latly it has become much more crowded, also have a feeling that is understaffed, therfore people spend more time than neccecary waiting for their orders. This leads to peope continuously looking for spots to sit, while everywhere is full. Yet i love the atmosphere and the coffes.

the food not bad but i don’t like a staff’s attitude- the with glasses and a low pony tail. She gave me attitude three times on three different days. This time, she even pouted and made her attitude very obvious, so I didn’t appreciate it.

Since management changed the place is not the same anymore. The poor employees are understaffed all the time, doing their best to service an extremely big seating area with table service, online orders and orders at the bar. Due to that the cafe is always badly maintained, the couches and seats are filthy and ordering takes a really long time. Management is clearly trying to reduce labor costs however they need to pay attention that this inevitably reduces the quality of the service customers receive and it is NOT the employees fault as they are always working in full speed, stressed out and on top of that they have to deal with some extremely unpleasant annoyed customers.

Staff was very very busy due to the heat wave and it being a comfortable place to enjoy some air conditioning. But they were still kind and professional doing their best despite being over capacity. The coffees, teas, and sandwiches were fresh and tasty. Atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. Thank you for providing refuge from the heat when I don’t have air conditioning!

Had to wait a very long time for a measly 2 coffees. It is a bad system to also order via scan. The man behind the counter can't handle it and is super unfriendly. The ladies behind the counter are okay. Not recommended.

They had shortages of hands, and after an hour had passed since I placed my order, I went to them and asked about the coffee I had ordered. Instead of apologizing, the staff behaved very rudely. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Coffee and pastries for a team outing; not all pastries were still in stock* at 10 am*, but everything that was available tasted delicious!! It was nice and cool inside, while we sat comfortably outside. The staff remained friendly and helpful, despite the commotion caused by our large group!

Only thing keeping this place alive is the staff. Bad management (always understaffed), bad quality of coffee (Lucifer, Sprout & Cinnamood have much better coffee) and usually always full and very few laptop zones. Do wszystkich Polaków: nie przychodźcie tutaj.

It is 8:49 right now and it is not open. In the website and in the door it says 8:00 AM but it is not true

Nice place, a bit too expensive

Had a cup of coffee and a pastry this afternoon. Fast service for once; I was there a while ago and it sucked then, so they changed the management. I vote for the new management.

After not having been there for a long time due to bad service and you name it, I decided to give it a try again. I don't know what was different, but there has been a change in staff. It is so noticeable—in the atmosphere and quality—and that makes for a nice place to have a coffee again, with something tasty on the side, of course. Highly recommended!

Compared to a few months ago, it has become a company to visit more often again. Well organized today and fast delivery. Compliments. Keep up the good work 👍🏼

A quiet and pleasant atmosphere. The place seemed promising until you got to the bar to order. The queue was slow because of inexperienced, slow, and rude waitresses. They couldn't get the coffee right and, to top it off, they made faces.

I sat down for a cappuccino. Ordered and paid immediately via a QR code. 5 euros for a medium cappuccino. After fifteen minutes, it was placed on the table, without a saucer, spoon, cookie, or anything similar... You shouldn't come here for the service or price/quality ratio.

We sat here today with my grandma, brother, and sister. We certainly didn't have to wait more than 30 minutes for our simple drinks (tea, lemonade). Nice place, extensive menu, but far too little staff and manpower to keep the business running. I wouldn't go back here.

Unfortunately, I have had to change my review. A while ago I was a real fan of this place, but the quality has deteriorated significantly in a short time. The iced coffees and matchas are incredibly weak, even though you pay full price. My toasted sandwich was as hard as stone and the service is very poor and slow; the wrong drink was brought, I was supposed to get the right one but this took an incredibly long time, it turned out they had forgotten it and I had to chase after it myself. I don't know what has happened to this nice place, but it is just a real shame.

They dont have enough space. We took so many things like coffe tart and more they didnt let us use our laptops and told us to take them away. It is a place we were going everday. Such a shame...

I waited 58 minutes. From 16:09 to 17:07 I don't even see the stuff stressed. I asked them 2 times if it's a self service or if my order is ok. I don't know what is happening with the management.

It took 40 minutes before we received a soft drink and coffee (after ordering). Bizarrely bad service. And it wasn't even that busy.

It's been 1 hour since we ordered 2 coffees and we are still waiting...

Love the location and the vibe of the place right in the city centre, but the wait times are unacceptable. We waited 55 minutes for a single coffee today. The staff never mentioned a delay, and they seemed completely overwhelmed and understaffed once the place started filling up. If you're short on time, avoid this spot.

I ordered iced coffee together with my friend. The order was forgotten and I waited more than one hour for it. I decided to go downstairs to ask because the servers upstairs said they can't help. It turned out my coffee was ready for one hour but nobody brought it upstairs. They didn't not offer to remake it (all the ice was melted and the whipped cream was awful) and didn't appologised, just told me to bring it up. It's the first time I'm actually leave a negative review to a place, I understand is very busy but I wouldn't won't to ever visit again.

We had ordered a healthy pistolet and an egg salad pistolet. In my experience, a pistolet is larger. The roll we received was a Belgian pistolet. Relatively speaking, we found it quite pricey. Ordering was a bit cumbersome.

I always enjoy coming here to study and have a drink. The coffee is always good, as are the other drinks. What I also really like is that the café is open daily until 10:00 PM. This allows you to sit here for a long time, especially if you are studying or have a meeting. The atmosphere and decor also make it a very pleasant place to spend time. Service does sometimes take a bit longer, especially when it is busy. Additionally, I find it a shame that there are small rolls on the menu these days instead of bread/toast. I remember ordering a salmon sandwich here about two years ago, and back then you still got two slices of bread instead of a small roll. Personally, I liked that better, and I also find some of the sandwiches to be quite expensive. Furthermore, I would like to mention that the toilets, especially later in the evening, sometimes look messy and unhygienic. Of course, I understand that this is mainly due to customers and not the staff. Perhaps it would be helpful to have someone quickly check the toilets in between, for example to empty the bins and keep everything a bit tidier. It would also be nice if there was toilet spray available at every toilet. But despite these points, I still really enjoy coming here and continue to find it a cozy and pleasant place 😊

I used to love coming here but not anymore. It’s dirty, the service is slow and my order today was disappointing. I ordered their Berry Bliss, which I have many times, so I know exactly what it looks like. I watched the lady today behind the counter make it (the working counters are disgusting) and I was shocked. She used a jug that had been used to make someone else’s milky drink, to make a berry drink. She didn’t even wash it. The drink ended up being cloudy from the milk and the milk set on the foam of the drink which also should not have been there. Very disappointed and I find this highly unprofessional. Definitely don’t recommend going here!

My absolute favourite cafe in Eindhoven! I have spent endless hours working from DE cafe and I recommend it to everyone. Their opening hours make it so convenient to visit, as they're open till late in the evening (unlike others). The food is decent, but their collection of coffees and iced drinks is amazing. The service is great and it's so easy to order with the qr codes. The vibes are cosy and very comfortable. They have ample seating but still gets busy sometimes. The location also makes it a great spot for a mid-shopping coffee break. As a local, I don't know what I would do without this place. It feels like a second home to me <3

Ridiculous place! You have to wait forever for your food, then you get something you didn't ask for or it arrives cold. Definitely not recommended. I'm never coming back here!

Huge disappointment regarding food, drinks, and service. 3 small pancakes for €7.65, brie sandwich with barely any brie or pecan nuts, lukewarm cappuccino and coffee. They have no table service; you have to order your food at the counter or via a QR code. At the counter, they speak to you in English, which makes it harder to raise your complaint than in Dutch. I had expected better from Douwe Egberts.

I really like this place. A pretty spacious and cozy place with good service and facilities to spend a few hours reading a book, working with your laptop, or chatting with your friends.

Waited endlessly for a takeaway coffee

Amazing atmosphere with very good personnel. Drinks are nice and food is okay, but there’s 1 thing that’s bad: the management. Last year they made up the stupid policy of every drink you get, you can sit for 1 hour. They dropped it because it sucked. There are loyalty cards (stamp cards), whereas you get your 11th drink for free. Now I find out that they shouldn’t give you stamps if you got a discount on your drink. And I’m a student, so I have a small 10% discount as a student (still, the smallest drink I will get is more than 5 euros after the discount). I find this policy very stupid. And in the almost 3 years of visiting this specific cafe, I personally see the impact these policies have on people. Hopefully management stops being greedy and becomes more friendly to the customers. I’m saying this all with love, because the product is already really good, I believe the way to win is to increase ‘availability’.

Iced coffee without ice... lukewarm and poorly blended. Cheesecake mediocre. Incompetent staff who don't communicate but do have time for friends on the work floor.

Very disappointed with our visit. The hot ginger tea was served in a tall glass without a sleeve, making it impossible to hold without getting burned. The iced lemon tea was basically plain water; we had to go downstairs to ask them to actually add flavor. To top it off, our first table was dirty and we had to move. Overall, a lack of basic care and cleanliness.

Long wait times for orders, 30 minutes for four coffees, one of which they forgot to bring to the table. Sticky glasses, overly sweet coffees. It's hard to ruin a coffee, but they totally succeeded here. Furthermore, the tables were dirty and the place wasn't cleaned promptly after customers left.

Such a nice café! Its spacious and cosy, the only downside is that it is so extremely dirty sometimes. The later it gets, the dirtier it becomes... Please hire more people, the friendly girls can't handle it all apparently.

I have ordered “Clear Whey Ice Tea Peach” but received a completely different drink. No explanation or solution from staff.

Nice coffee, but usually takes too long to order my straightforward traditional coffee (despite the fact that there seems to be enough staff). Hard to find a small table, since clearing up seems too difficult for customers and staff. Despite that I keep coming back. So they seem to do something right! A month later and still the same: had to ask staff whether they are open for an order. Seems they are afraid of customers 😜

No cups available because absolutely all the tables are piled high with dirty crockery; nothing has been cleaned up. The staff doesn't make any effort either; if you get coffee in a cup, it's pathetic.

I received rude service when taking my order. The order wasn't taken correctly, and when I tried to explain it in Dutch, the person walked away because it had to be in English otherwise they wouldn't help me. I come every Friday evening, but today was the last time.

Cozy cafe with friendly staff + delicious coffee!

Very bad coffee taste, I think it was burned or the machine was not properly cleaned. The table was very very dirty and when I asked the servant to clean it she told me she had not time since busy and turned back. Shocking! I also remember that in the past DE employees dressed with some DE uniforms while now they simply work with their own clothes. Last but not least, I felt very upset when leaving the place and seeing all employees doing simply nothing, smiling, chatting and looking at their phones when the place was dusty, dirty and full of abandoned used cups all around. All in all, not a nice experience, even if very well paid… Dear D&E… I suspect a lack of director/manager checking the quality of work is the main issue. Very surprised by this lack of hygiene in a DE coffe bar, hygiene is a not negotiable must-have in a coffe bar. For the moment you lost a customer, and if you do not act to improve quality and customer satisfaction asap I do not see an amazing future for this place.

Truly the absolute worst place to drink tea....they don't have Earl Grey...after waiting half an hour, I had to ask for it myself....outrageous 3.85 euros for a disgusting, untasting tea, the staff were unfriendly, and there was a huge mess on every table....QR code to order, how so hhhh, they should be happy that someone comes....expensive and very unfriendly to customers/people.

I find it chaotic. Far too many staff. They're constantly chatting behind the bar. Customers are waiting and don't understand anything, with their phones in tow. It's really unprofessional. They're also not friendly to the customers because they're only busy with each other.

My fav cafe in Eindhoven. Visited it twice for 2 days. Comfy place suitable for online job also to chill. The marshmellow coffe was a spot on! Also the apple tart was very delicious. Totally reccomend that place! Also it works pretty lately compared to the other bars/cafes in the city center.

No service, messy place, coffee cold.

It's deteriorated enormously since a few years ago. It's a student hotspot, and there are measures in place to address this. For example, laptops aren't allowed on the ground floor, which is completely understandable. What's incomprehensible is that the quality of the drinks AND the service continues to decline. If you go in to order at the bar, you have to wait even during quieter times before you can order, even if there's no line. We all know how busy restaurants get, but you can always just say "sorry, I'll be right there." I waited 10 minutes, indicated twice that I wanted to order, and the woman behind the bar simply didn't come. I also feel like they don't put any effort into the drinks. I had a matcha with tons of lumps, which was simply undrinkable. The young man behind the bar was polite and said I would get a new one, only to be given a matcha with 99% milk AND even more matcha lumps. Even if you eat in, you're often given paper cups and wooden forks to save on dishes. The concept is very nice and fun, but the service is poor in most cases, and the quality is also declining. In my opinion, the toilets are never cleaned; there's toilet paper on the floor at all hours of the day, the soap is gone, etc.

The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and the service was wonderful. Thank you for everything.
