Had dinner here on Saturday evening, very nicely decorated restaurant with comfortable chairs. Delicious food, everything was well prepared. The wine list has been drawn up by someone with expertise. Lots of variety with non-obvious wines and easy to pair with the dishes. Also a lot by the glass, which is handy, because you eat different dishes. Asset for Harlingen.

Delicious food. Very nicely decorated, nice chairs. The food was all fine, albondigas were nice and spicy, veal from the vitello was top notch, cheviche was excellent, chicken skewers and scallops wonderfully tender. And the tiramisu was one of the best I've ever eaten. My girlfriend is a vinologist and she was impressed by the wine list, really beautiful. We were surprised that the restaurant was not completely packed, because it was really nice and an asset to Harlingen.

What a great time we had with the four of us last night. A long and extensive dinner with delicious small dishes. Everything looked so beautiful, carefully prepared portions. We drank both a red and a white wine, both were very tasty. The service was very pleasant and the chef (owner) came to chat with us at the end of the evening. Cosy, relaxed, delicious food!

The place is very beautiful and nicely decorated. The food is kind of tapas-style, which is great for sharing. Unfortunately, the menu isn’t very large, so there’s a bit less choice. However, the food was very tasty and of good quality. The service was friendly and attentive. All in all, I would recommend it, but a slightly larger menu would make it even better!

Very tasty, responsive to dietary requirements and great stories. It was definitely worth coming again. We look forward to the next time we are in Harlingen.

Leuk en gezellig restaurant. Zeer lekker eten. Prima bediening door eigenaar en personeel. Kwamen op een maandagavond. Helaas dinsdag en woensdag gesloten. Anders zaten we er waarschijnlijk deze avonden er ook.

We visited this restaurant twice during our 1 week stay in Harlingen. It is very beautiful and inviting and the food is delicious. The small patio is the perfect place to sit and look out over the canal. Jarno was our super friendly, hardworking young waiter who we enjoyed meeting. We definitely recommend Down & Up! And don’t forget to ask for Jarno!!! 👍🏻☺️

We had delicious tappas here. Perfect dishes prepared with passion in a very beautiful and attractively decorated restaurant. Outside on the terrace it was a bit too chilly for us this evening, but you can also relax there. Very friendly service and the chef/owner also came by to check if everything was to your liking.... and it was! Good price/quality ratio. We will definitely come back! Marian, Ellen and Dick

Today, August 17, we had a delicious meal and drinks with 5 people. It was great, it took some getting used to the system of sharing food, but afterwards it was a pleasure. Had a nice evening. Thank you.

Elke hap een smaaksensatie. We hadden een heerlijke avond en hebben genoten van alle gerechten. Complimenten aan de kok en de vriendelijke gastvrijheid.

Pretty nice place but there is few things to work with. First of all, waiter is too young. He does'nt understand people talking english language. For example, we ordered "twice" one dish, instead of getting two portions on two plates, one person get "double" portion on one plate. Food is not bad, but nothing special. That's a new restaurant in Harlingen and it will get 4, instead of 3 stars rating. Interior is pretty clean, need little bit more organisation. Toilets were not clean as I expect to be, especially when only 3 tables are occupied. Tasty cocktails.

A super nice restaurant with a young, modern team. This is also reflected in the ambience. The food is more tapas style. So it invites you to linger because you can order several small dishes. An absolute recommendation.

The prices here get you down. After your visit you are guaranteed to need a handful of UPpers to bring you back to your senses.

I give five stars in all three areas. The boy serving was sweet, kind, had an eye for us, but could have studied the menu a little more. The homemade gin in the gin and tonic would have tasted better with a more characteristic, less sweet tonic. The white house wine from the menu, with two wine varieties from d'oc, was great and very affordable. In my opinion, the sea bass ceviche could have done with more acid and less olive oil. To this end, the olive oil used was of very good quality. You can have a good meal with your child, we both liked the burrata, the chicken thigh was perfectly grilled. I think it's a shame, very unfortunate, that we weren't very hungry and there were more people because this restaurant is simply more than good. Affordable, beautifully decorated, nice people, and a chef who could probably do even better if he had the courage to raise his prices a little. And it doesn't have to be cuisine like a star restaurant, but just a little more striking in its style. I think he can do more than what the limitations of purchasing show. No frills, but taste, good wine, and someone who really knows what he is doing. Of course based on our small choice, but perfection is there I think. We'll come again next year. Thank you.

Been there twice! Good concept: slow and share food, excellently cooked, good wine recommendations, friendly and attentive service. The dessert was ok, but could be improved. Nevertheless, the bottom line is a clear 5 stars

WOW! What an evening. Everything was delicious, from the oysters at the beginning to the chocolates at the end. This chef really knows what he is doing. Don't hesitate, just make a reservation. The wines are also well selected, in addition to being affordable. We found it difficult to determine what was tastiest, but we opted for the ceviche. We will definitely come again!

There were five of us in the restaurant and ate several starters, main courses and desserts. We really liked the concept of offering several smaller dishes to share. So we could all really enjoy the diverse flavors. The spareribs were incredibly good and the tartare was a poem. The shells were creative and interesting. The parmigiana or moussaka was excellent and the risotto was perfect!! The desserts were also impressive. The cocktails are a great way to start and end the evening. In addition, the service was top. The boss rotates in an open kitchen and is also incredibly personable. With the restaurant we have definitely found another great reason to come back to Harlingen. Absolute recommendation :))

Kok (en gelijk ook de eigenaar) Lorenzo en zijn team laten je telkens weer verassen. Regelmatig een nieuwe kaart, maar gelukkig is de Octopus een blijvend gerecht. Mooie wijnen. En overheerlijke nagerechten. Lorenzo bedenkt alle gerechten zelf. Bereid de verse producten met passie en dat proef je! De sfeervolle inrichting maakt het compleet.

Had a delicious meal last night in this very attractive restaurant. We really liked the shared dining concept. We were able to taste many different dishes, all of which were delicious.

The concept of the restaurant is that you order 2-3 dishes per person and then share them with everyone. It was just right for my family! The food was very tasty and the service was really friendly. Everything was explained to us calmly and we asked about it. Since we were there out of season, it was pretty quiet - but pleasant.

What an asset to Harlingen this restaurant is! Delicious food, friendly service and beautiful decor, really worth it! Everything was tasty, but especially the Iberico croquettes and the chicken thigh in Italian cream sauce are heavenly! Had a delicious meal here on a Thursday evening with the 4 of us. What an atmosphere, what a host and what a chef. Hostman very hospitable, cheerful, kind and so on. Enjoy a relaxing meal from all the different dishes on the menu. Sometimes we enjoyed sharing something with the table, but it was actually too tasty to do this. Highly recommended if you are in Harlingen in a side street of the center.

New in Harlingen with a great concept. If you are full after each course, you stop, if you still want something, you order another round, very relaxed dining. Delicious dishes and there is something for everyone, meat, fish, vegetables and all nicely prepared and very tasty. Service is friendly and good. Wat een mega mooi restaurant, super chique maar ook cozy qua inrichting waar ik mijn ogen uitkeek. Het eten was geweldig en er was veel keus! Het personeel was ontzettend klantvriendelijk en gezellig. Super leuk gegeten hier! De sfeer was goed en de bediening was snel en heel aardig. Het eten was heerlijk!

Eten was goed op smaak. Niet heel spectaculair. Maar lekker. Bediening goed. Man achter de bar was mij niet helemaal duidelijk.(overbodig naar mijn mening.) Maar het zou wat meer kunnen sprankelen. Zou ik dit restaurant aanrader bij vrienden,NEE. Omdat het niet echt het gevoel geeft van een avondje uit.

Wederom een super avond gehad! Het concept van het eten is ideaal. Dit omdat er gekozen kan worden tussen meerdere gerechtjes voor een goede prijs. Ook de bierliefhebber komt hier aan zijn trekken. Tip: de spare-ribs, tiramisu en de Lavazza koffie.

Nu gaan wij (heel) vaak uit eten … maar vanavond hebben we meer dan uitermate genoten! De jongeman die ons bediende: fantastisch! Wat een gastheer. En met verstand van zaken! Het concept: ik was aanvankelijk een beetje argwanend maar voor het eerst ever hebben we bijbesteld omdat het zo overheerlijk was. Je proefde gewoon de kwaliteit van de ingrediënten! En de combinatie van smaken: daar is echt over nagedacht. De sfeer / omgeving : prachtig interieur- heel #instagramable. Dit nieuwbakken restaurant is wat ons betreft een must-go.

Prachtig plekje in Harlingen met uitzicht over de Noorderhaven. Heerlijk genoten van de avondzon en de heerlijkste hapjes! De gegrilde octopus is een aanrader en we moesten wat langer wachten op de risotto omdat de kok niet te tevreden was over de kwaliteit. Nou, dat was het wachten waard. Fijne bediening ook!

Heerlijk gegeten bij Down & Up! Gerechtjes waren mooi opgemaakt en goed van smaak. In de keuken zie je hoe het eten met zorg wordt bereid. Genoeg variatie en keus. De bediening was attent en behulpzaam. De inrichting is mooi gedaan en de sfeer is prima. Voor ons een prima plek om naar terug te gaan!

Was een hele goeie ervaring. Warm onthaal, het eten en zo ook het concept en de sfeer echt top.

Ik lees hier vooral hele goede recensies maar wil toch een kanttekening plaatsen. Het concept is prima en de gerechtjes zijn in orde. En ook de prijs/ kwaliteit verhouding vonden wij ok. Maar de bediening moet echt beter. De jongen die ons bediende had echt geen idee waar hij mee bezig was. Stond enorm te hannesen met zijn dienblad, had zo te zien nog nooit een glas wijn ingeschonken (hij lag bijna languit over de tafel om bij de glazen te kunnen die helemaal aan de andere kant stonden), ik kreeg een glas over me heen (gelukkig was dat een glas water) en het eten werd op tafel gekwakt zonder enige toelichting. Klap op de vuurpijl vond ik het gesjouw met tafels terwijl het restaurant nog half vol zat. Dat is niet echt klantvriendelijk. Ik weet dat het lastig is om goed personeel te vinden en hoop oprecht dat het jullie gaat lukken. De gunfactor hebben jullie wat mij betreft wel. Veel succes!

Nieuw restaurant. Vind de inrichting ruim maar erg donker. Veel kunde van allergieën en met daarmee de nodige overleg. Share dinningconcept. 7 gerechtjes per ronde. Wat jammer is dat we met z'n vieren waren er soms maar 3 gerechtjes in het schaaltje zaten. Vond het wel aan de prijzige kant.

Ik wil zes sterren geven maar dat kan niet. Patatas bravas waren fantastisch, zoete aardappel met perfect sausje, en heb in geen jaren zo'n attente bediening mogen ervaren. Prijs - kwaliteit verhouding zit goed snor. Als ik in Harlingen zou wonen, zat ik er elke dag. Hartelijk dank voor de fijne ervaring

We hebben ontzettend lekker gegeten. Het shared dining principe is erg gezellig en nodigt uit om dingen te proberen die je anders misschien niet zo gauw zou durven. Vriendelijke bediening, lekkere, niet-alledaagse gerechten die allen een uniek tintje hebben en een luxueuze sfeer (zeker ook qua muziek). Een heerlijke ervaring die zeker voor herhaling vatbaar is. Een tip: probeer de octopus. Hmmmm

Heel lekker en gezellig gegeten met mijn man gisteren. Prima prijzen voor lekkere gerechtjes, voldoende keus en overzichtelijke kaart. Aardig ontvangst en vlotte bediening. Tip: de zichtbaarheid/toegankelijkheid van buitenaf nog wat aantrekkelijker maken, dan wordt het nóg meer uitnodigend. 🍀
