No smoking on the terrace; I think that goes too far and isn't very customer-friendly. Of course, the staff can't do anything about it. But the policy clearly doesn't take everyone into account...

Atmospheric location with very friendly staff. The food is of exceptional quality, worthy of a Michelin star. Not cheap (but not too expensive either), but absolutely worth every Euro. A place to definitely return to. Once again: enjoyed it immensely.

On the recommendation of several colleagues, we finally went to eat at 't Havenmantsje. We had the 6/7 course surprise menu with wine pairing (€135). It was a fantastic evening in a magnificent building, with attentive waitresses and a wonderful menu. The level rivals Michelin-starred establishments, but the price level is much more reasonable. A beautifully balanced menu with excellent wine pairing (and generous glasses at that). The Pineau de Charentes with the Frisian cheese tasting was a very pleasant surprise. The Muscat d'Alexandrie with the strawberry dessert was also very successful, without wanting to detract from the other courses. The work here is very meticulous and efficient, but there is plenty of room for an informal atmosphere when the guest is looking for it (which was us). An absolutely top-notch restaurant; we will definitely be back!

Last Thursday evening, we had the pleasure of enjoying a culinary dinner at Restaurant 't Havenmantsje. We opted for the 5-course menu, excluding the amuse-bouches, but were ultimately surprised with no fewer than 10 fantastic courses. Each course was carefully composed and beautifully presented. The flavors, creativity, and passion evident in every dish made this evening truly special for us. As far as we are concerned, this is absolutely a Michelin-star level restaurant. Very friendly service, high-quality food, creatively and lovingly prepared at a very fair price. A particular highlight is the view overlooking the harbor. From there you can watch the ships coming and going, including a sea view.

Not suitable for people with disabilities! The toilet is upstairs, accessible via a high, steep staircase. Unfortunately, there is no stairlift, standard elevator, or disabled toilet downstairs. Good food, friendly service, though sometimes a bit slow; we saw people walk away because no staff came.

The toilets were spotlessly clean, it was very pleasant there—warm outside due to the sun, but nice and cool inside, and well-organized. Comfortable seating and pleasant conversation with the staff. I would gladly return here for a more extensive visit.

Had lunch here today on the terrace during “Tall Ships Races Harlingen”. We were served 2 chicken satay skewers, prawn crackers, and 2 pieces of baguette in a plastic container. The satay was fine, but the presentation left something to be desired. Two pieces of baguette is a bit meager. No cutlery and no napkin?! We were served kindly by a lovely, cheerful lady 👌 which made up for a lot.

I gave it a try anyway: once is enough, never again! The cold cappuccino and side dish were also a joke.

We have been coming here with our family for 30 years and have always admired owners Inez and Marco for their hard work and dedication to the quality of both the food and the service. It is our favorite restaurant for good reason. If you want a wonderful evening out or have something special to celebrate, choose the 6-course surprise menu (including wine pairing!) and let yourself be swept away by this fantastic experience for the entire evening. Right down to the chocolates with the coffee! Even the children were allowed to help out in the kitchen for a moment to make a dessert; they will never forget that! In all those 30 years, we have never been disappointed. Thanks to the entire team at Het Havenmansje! We will definitely be back for the next 30 years ☺️

We were really looking forward to lunch at Havenmantsje, given the very positive reviews and the Michelin star it received in 2025. We had planned to order the rib-eye steak and try the dark chocolate for dessert. Unfortunately, we only got as far as our drinks before being consistently ignored by four different servers. It couldn't have been because we spoke German, as an Englishman sitting outside came in twice to complain loudly and demand to speak to the manager. He exclaimed, "No service, 40 minutes of no service, it's poor!" We decided to pay and have our lunch elsewhere. It's a shame for the owner; they're missing out on a lot of revenue, especially since the restaurant has such a great atmosphere and a lovely location.

It was a feast from start to finish. A truly superb taste experience. Beautiful compositions, a work of art on your plate. Service was super hospitable. Highly recommended.

The worst place I have ever encountered in my life. We were refused even the opportunity to have a coffee, despite there being free tables available. It feels like they have no understanding of what service is or how to treat guests. Moreover, the staff seem completely unable to recognize potential customers. The experience was extremely negative - I will definitely not return and do not recommend this restaurant to others. I will also advise all my friends to avoid this place.

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent experience where my confirmed reservation was not honored upon arrival. Despite being told you could not seat us, we observed several vacant tables.

We had a delicious lactose-free meal! I would only like it even better if the lactose-free dishes looked exactly the same as the regular ones. So, not sometimes omitting components, but making them with substitute lactose-free ingredients. On the other hand, it is very nice how well this was taken into account! A truly delicious matching non-alcoholic pairing was served alongside. Fast and very friendly service. The music selection is a minor downside for me.

Stepped through the door again for the first time in a few years. I’ve actually always had good experiences, and this time was no exception. I had communicated a few preferences when making the reservation, and they accommodated them perfectly: a seat by the window with a nice view. We chose the 5-course surprise menu. We were served a number of amuse-bouches beforehand. These were already delicious. The five different courses were each a delight in themselves. Each dish had its own distinct flavor. The portions were just the right size. And the accompanying wines were a perfect match. The welcome and service were friendly. They paid close attention and we were well taken care of throughout the evening. The acoustics on the upper floor are not very pleasant. Next to us sat four or five men who were very, very loud; as a result, we could barely hear each other at the table. Fortunately, part of that noisy group left early, which made a huge difference. In short, a restaurant in a beautiful location, friendly staff, and delicious food. Highly recommended!

We recently had a fantastic evening at 't Havenmantsje and it was, in one word: magical. The surprise menu was a succession of culinary highlights. Using local Frisian ingredients, the chef knows how to create dishes that are not only beautifully presented but also an explosion of flavor. The accompanying wines completed the experience perfectly; the sommelier knows exactly what he is talking about. The location in the characteristic building by the harbor provides a unique atmosphere, especially with the view of the boats as the sun slowly sets. The service is professional, yet at the same time very relaxed and personal, making you feel immediately at ease. Tip for other travelers: Ask for a table by the window for the best view of the Wadden Harbor. We will definitely be back here!

Here, you'll be served with the utmost respect, enjoying the most beautiful dishes and wines. Our ultimate evening out, especially during the chef's table in the cooking studio, where master chef Marco Poldervaart prepares about 15 dishes on the spot. The chefs usually manage to incorporate all the flavors into each dish, a unique experience and a feast for the taste buds and the eyes, because that's what counts too. Very friendly hosts. We completely disagree with the negative reviews, which we think are grossly exaggerated compared to how it actually went. And a bowl of overly hard lentils? Uh... amuse-bouches are usually served in these, placed on top. So, you're not supposed to spoon out whatever the amuse-bouches are served on. It can be quite bad for your teeth (pebbles). 🤭

Particularly noteworthy: a very nice selection of wines by the glass, which fits the concept perfectly. We went for the pescatarian menu – consistently light cuisine with a clear local touch. It could also be more regional, as the local produce is constantly improving and deserves to be mentioned by name. Wow! 4-hour dinner - fun! Reserved as recommended by the Michelin Guide. We had the 6-course menu with drinks. At under €300 for two people, it was the best value for money we've had in years. A clear recommendation! We had a great table overlooking the harbor. The service and the location were outstanding! Great food! There were always little culinary surprises between the booked courses. Perfect wine selection for each course. Champagne, water, coffee/espresso beforehand – whatever you want is included. Keep it up! The photos speak for themselves.

We arrived a little early and our table was ready. We were on the slightly colder but very clean side, the other dining room is much more glazed. The menu is simple with surprise appetizers. The beef tartare and the wagu beef pasta were excellent. The service is very good except that the menu is only in German so you have to ask for a translation otherwise the value for money is very good for a Michelin. The price of the dishes is also very reasonable.

Where perfection is the right word

Before I start praising the restaurant, a few brief comments. As an aperitif, we were given the choice of Cava or Champagne, even though there were plenty of other options. Just give the menu to your guests and let them choose, because the gin was excellent! Otherwise, nothing but praise for the food, the accompanying wines, and the friendly service. This restaurant is highly recommended, and we'll happily return when we're in the area. Keep up the good work, and a Michelin star is on its way.

Dining out, the way it should be. The team surprised us wonderfully, and it was a success. We enjoyed dishes we wouldn't normally order. We were also treated to extra amuse-bouches on the house, which, just like the other courses, were beautifully and deliciously presented. The service was excellent, with an experienced host who, along with his enthusiastic students, gave us a fantastic experience. Finally, the atmosphere was beautiful, homey, and spotlessly clean.

Wow, what a gem of the North! Taste buds are on holiday at 't Havenmantsje in Harlingen. A beautiful location, fantastic food, and very competent staff. Okay, you're probably wondering what's so great? Everything, really. The butter with the crispy roll, the black garlic-laced salt with the delicious oil? Yes, that, and everything that comes after. The KFC cauliflower, sea bass, veal, everything! But we were blown away by the incredibly delicious non-alcoholic cocktails that perfectly matched the menu: hats off!

On a balmy summer evening, with the sun slowly setting over the harbor, we were treated to a parade of refined dishes. Our taste buds were thoroughly spoiled; this restaurant is absolutely Michelin-star worthy. Whether you like fish or not, go there. The kitchen offers sublime options for everyone, and the team is warm, knowledgeable, and hospitable. Their wine expertise is impressive and truly adds to the experience. We enjoyed ourselves for over four hours at the table, without a single moment feeling drawn out. The all-inclusive package is more than worth the price. Everything you hear about Het Havenmantsje is true, and perhaps even more so. A culinary recommendation of the highest caliber.

Had to ask three times for a portion of bitterballen. After about 45 minutes, still nothing. No questions asked if we wanted drinks either. So bad.

Where the Tax and Customs Administration once ensured that excise and import duties were correctly levied and collected, there's now a fine restaurant. The beautiful decor and delicious dishes make it well worth a visit.

Very tasty food. No 5 stars because the red wine with the main course was much too cold. (Apologies were offered for this in advance) and because I said I had a strawberry allergy and the dessert contained strawberries. We also received apologies & free coffee for this. It remains manual work and sometimes things go wrong. All in all; we will definitely come back again.
