Grandcafe de Reus in Wijk 00 Harlingen

We had high expectations due to the beautiful decor of the restaurant and the friendly staff. Unfortunately, the mustard soup was far too salty. The sauce with the fish was cold and the fish was not house-cooked. The satay was also very salty. On the plate was a small bowl of rice with some green beans on top. The small bowl was dirty with peanut sauce and therefore could not be placed on the table. The plates were sloppily and awkwardly full.

We stopped here in the (late) afternoon with five people and enjoyed a diverse selection from the lunch menu in the courtyard. All the dishes were excellent – ​​refreshing combinations of classics, skillfully prepared, and surprisingly generous portions. The carpaccio and steak were outstanding, but everything else was more than satisfactory as well. The very friendly service, the pleasant atmosphere, and the good value for money rounded off the overwhelmingly positive experience. We will definitely be back.

We had a pleasant evening; the only point of criticism was the waiting time. We went for starters, a main course, and dessert, and there was well over an hour between the starter and the main course. We arrived around 6:30 PM and went to order dessert at 9:30 PM. This detracted slightly from the experience, but otherwise, no complaints! On other occasions, it was always good and enjoyable. The friendly staff was also a plus.

The four of us had a delicious meal tonight: grilled Angus steak and a delicious Angus hamburger. For dessert, a Blond Wiif, which was also super tasty. All in all, a wonderful evening thanks to the friendly service and the delicious food. Highly recommended!

We had a veeeery delicious meal here last night! According to the reviews, it was bound to be good here. We were welcomed in a super friendly manner, and with our sweet golden retriever by our side, we were allowed to choose a table. First, we had the Harness fish platter for the two of us, and it was delicious and enough for us. For the main course, I took the special: giant schnitzel with mushroom sauce, and my partner had the whole oven-baked sea bass. It’s been a long time since we’ve had such a good meal. Everything was perfectly seasoned, the portions were large, the rhubarb compote was delicious, the fresh fries were tasty, and the food was beautifully presented on the plate. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely go back; a top spot 😊😉👍👍👍!

Fine place, the only thing is: a huge amount of hidden sugars in the food. I am a type 1 diabetic and always take hidden sugars into account in restaurants, but this place took the cake. I needed three times the amount of insulin and just left feeling sick. Nice place, good service, good taste, but not a place where responsible food is served.

Always had super dinners, but the Caesar salad for lunch today was truly terrible; rubbery eggs, bacon not freshly prepared but probably pre-packaged, no official Caesar salad dressing, and the bread was at least 4 days old, tough and dry, and the chicken was also pre-packaged sliced ​​smoked chicken, just a total disappointment. I always eat Caesar salads, but never here again, too bad. The wines are super good! Service too! Received 2 drinks as compensation, nice.

I was here with a large group. We had reserved in advance. Our food was served at several tables, like in a tapas bar. From the appetizer to the main course to the dessert, everything was absolutely delicious! No one had a single complaint. The portions served were also more than ample. Of course, you can also order à la carte. Cocktails are also available. The ambiance is really chic and modern. Highly recommended!

The “chef’s seafood dish” can of course vary by day, but my pot of mussels was delicious! The service was also top-notch, and the only minor downside was that the music was perhaps a little too loud. Tonight, we had an extensive meal with our family (4 people) at Grand Café de Reus. The friendly staff seated us quickly (5:30 PM), took our drink orders, and, upon receiving the drinks, also took our food preferences. Of the starters, which arrived within 10 minutes, the carpaccio we ordered (3 times) was generously coated in oil—a bit too much for our taste, causing the flavors to unfortunately get lost. The bread board was neatly presented. Of the main courses, for which we waited an hour, my daughter's Angus smashburger was swimming in grease, and the fried bacon was missing from both my smashburger and my daughter's. My other daughter's Wad'n salad was fine, and my wife's gratinated Camembert was okay. When they asked if everything had been to our liking, we clearly communicated this, but little was done about it. All in all, it was quite disappointing for an evening where you spend €200. We had a delicious meal. Perhaps the best Moules frites ever. And my wife had a delicious chicken thigh satay.

"Vegan Loaded Fries" was on the menu, so I went straight in, but unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The fries were okay, but the vegan cheese was just two slices of cheese slapped on top. Half a tomato, a piece of bell pepper, vegan meat, and onions... no vegan mayo—at least it was cheaper. It was just carelessly prepared; vegans will take anything anyway, pfft! My husband's "regular" loaded fries looked great. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, hence the three stars.

The location is fantastic. There's an outdoor seating area at the front, and also a "garden" at the back of the café. The cheesecake is divine. The cream is delicious. The crust is flavorful and cinnamony. The coffee came in cups without handles. You can draw your own conclusions, to each their own. My paw hurts. Additionally, the restrooms are spotlessly clean and quiet. Highly recommended, but be careful of pigeons outside. My only complaint is the dogs, because they all go absolutely crazy whenever other dogs walk by.

This restaurant/café is beautifully situated and very stylish, and the coffee and cake are exceptionally good. This place comes highly recommended.

Last Wednesday, we had oysters as a starter and mussels from the Wadden Sea. We love eating mussels; they were prepared super deliciously! The service was friendly and approachable, which was nice!

Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time this afternoon on the terrace. Three ladies were walking around who took no action to take our order, even though we looked at them; they also looked quite grumpy. It wasn't busy, and certainly not inside (this became apparent later when we had to go inside to pay, because once again there was no one walking around we could call). After the order was taken without any interest, the plates and glasses of the previous terrace visitors were taken away, while the leftover food and drinks remained on the table (we assumed they would be cleared away with the drinks). The drinks were brought by another lady; we asked her to wipe down the table (because she indicated she wasn't going to do it herself); she said she would do that. The table was subsequently not cleaned again. The cappuccino and espresso tasted good, but were definitely not hot enough. Inside, it turned out there were about 6 ladies busy with... we don't know. We reported it to the manager, who offered her apologies. It's a shame about this experience; we would rather not sit here again.

The food was mostly fine, except for the fried potatoes, which were very mediocre. The dog also got a bowl of water. But €9.50 for a half-liter of Skuumkoppe beer seems to be normal in the hospitality industry these days, but of course it isn't.

Service is quick and friendly. The food is tasty. We had spareribs and mixed grill. Worth recommending. 👍🏻

We came for dinner as a couple. The restaurant was very busy, and it was quite noisy in the dining room. The owners should consider soundproofing measures. However, we were more than compensated: very attentive and friendly service, and a truly excellent meal. The prices were also reasonable – therefore, definitely 5 stars. We ate there tonight with my husband. We both had a main course, and it was more than generous! I had a dish with scampi and stopped counting after I counted 12 of those little rascals (all peeled). The dish was deliciously seasoned and beautifully presented. My husband had chicken thigh satay and he was very satisfied too; we really enjoyed our meal, with a lovely wine to go with it for a good price. We will definitely be back. And of course, the service was incredibly friendly. Someone at another table dropped cutlery and before the man could even ask, a waiter came over with fresh cutlery and wished him a tasty meal. I am truly a very satisfied customer!!!

Last year we had a super deluxe high tea here. We repeated it today, but it was one big fiasco. We had to wait an hour before we got 2 bottles of water, then 2 pots of hot tea, and only fifteen minutes after asking did we get the tea bags, sugar, milk, etc. Another half hour later came the savory platter, which was fine. At least another hour later came the sweet platter; we were a party of 6 and received 2 scoops of ice cream, 1 meringue ball, 2 pieces of MonChou, 3 small glasses of strained yogurt, 2 wedges of quark, and a few peanut brittle pieces. I got the impression that whatever was left over had been put on it instead of having a little bit of everything six times. All in all, it was a huge disappointment....

The food (rendang & sea bass) was delicious and plentiful. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We would love to come back.

We had dinner at Grandcafe de Reus last night. We made a reservation in the afternoon via their website, which worked perfectly. We would recommend making a reservation to everyone. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. After a short while, a young woman brought us the chef's recommendation and the menu. My wife had a delicious avocado burger, and I had a medium-rare black angus beef ribeye, and everything was excellent. The service was attentive and friendly throughout. The prices were reasonable. Therefore, we highly recommend Grandcafe de Reus.

We were at Café De Reus in Harlingen. I had a latte macchiato, and we also had pastries. The lady was very friendly and spoke quietly with us, which was nice because we're deaf. The pastries and coffee were delicious. We enjoyed it!

The tables are on top of each other and when it's busy you just sit on your neighbor's lap, the food is reasonable but not special, this whole concept is based on pushing everything full and making money as quickly as possible, a real shame about your evening

We had lunch in Harlingen this afternoon, and De Reus looked cozy. Inside, it was just as inviting. I had the club sandwich, and it was delicious. Along with a beer from Harlingen, which proved to be a good combination, it made for a lovely lunch.

Main course took a little longer to come than expected but not really a problem. 4 stars only because it was fairly expensive. It was certainly worth the money but still on the expensive side. I ate at De Reiger this afternoon. It was comfortable, but the carpaccio I ordered was like a painting. So much was dumped on it that it was inedible. That makes the classic carpaccio sandwich tasteless, because the most important thing, the truffle mayonnaise, was forgotten. Otherwise, the service was good, but when K wanted a drink, it took ages. Overall, I would recommend it. No, there are more places like this on the streets.

A cozy restaurant in Harlingen. I ate the best mussels of my life here. Such a rich broth, plus toast, sauce, and fries, which I couldn't even eat because of the large portion of mussels. Despite the tourist orientation, the service was very friendly, and the restaurant was mostly Dutch. Highly recommended.

Reserved early because we came to eat with young children. The serving took an awfully long time, we didn't get any more drinks, after 3 hours we just left without dessert. Very unfortunate. Maybe an option to work with a QR code or something. So that you can order at your own pace, and pay immediately. Then all that needs to be done is serving. Also, questions about which ingredients were in a dish, could not be answered, because everything is prepared in advance.

De uitgenodigde gasten waren vol lof en gaven ook complimenten hoe dit restaurant het had geregeld mbt de versiering e.d. Nogmaals het was weer geweldig
