Had delicious tuna in a cozy restaurant with very hospitable and friendly service. So if you are ever in Harlingen, highly recommended.

5 stars for the food, drinks, waitresses, and atmosphere. 0 stars for the woman who said we should just let a young pigeon on their terrace die because it’s ‘swarming with pigeons, there are so many of them’. Of course, we didn’t do that. The animal ambulance picked him up.

On a rather damp early September Wednesday evening, most restaurants in Harlingen were empty or closing early. Not so the Eetcafe Nooltgedagt: every table was full and the place was buzzing! And it is no wonder - the food is great, very well cooked and presented, and decent value for money (around €23 for a main). The staff are perfect - attentive, friendly and helpful - and the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely. If you are visiting Harlingen (and you should) you should definitely make a booking here.

Enjoyed the very tasty pesto toastie. Highly recommended. However, you do need to have time, as it took a while to get served or receive your order. The toilets are clean.

The food is incredible (the fish!), the cocktails are delicious, and the service is lovely.

Such a great service, and what a kind waitress we found… A place to visit and repeat!

Last Friday, the five of us enjoyed a delicious lunch. We sat at the round table on the beautiful original Vintage Eames chairs. Three of us went for the tuna potato salad on farmhouse bread; it was a very generous portion and the sweet and sour onion served with it was excellent. The other two chose the hamburger with Japaneno chutney and fries and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a bottle of tasty Chardonnay with it, and water of course. The staff were incredibly friendly and know their craft.

Here you are truly treated like a guest; you are helped in a friendly manner, the atmosphere is good, and the food is absolutely top-notch. We have been here twice and let ourselves be pleasantly surprised. I never would have thought this would happen. Highly recommended in Harlingen. I would love to come back here again.

Fantastic evening! Despite not having a reservation, we were able to get a table a little later. Once inside, we were treated to delicious oysters, the simply amazing smoked eel, and a perfect ribeye. The wine was excellent too, and if that isn't reason enough for a visit, the very charming service certainly is. I have no idea when I'll be in Harlingen again, but I'm already looking forward to the next time I can dine here!

Updated review. We have been here for many years but last year the owner has changed and predictibly the place went down. Still ok ish but nothing compared to before. The location is still nice. ------------ Very nice cafe. The cakes were excellent.

Too bad. Last year we had a delicious meal twice in a row. This time it was disappointing. Tuna too salty. Potato salad raw. Bread fine. The way one of the ladies approached us upon arrival was downright annoying because we didn't accept the table for two that was standing alone under the stairs in the children's corner! There was plenty of room upstairs. The waitress at our table was fantastic. Are we going back? No!

The cheese sandwich was tasty but not very big. And it costs 10.50. Nice people who work hard because it is often busy there. I was there on Friday afternoon around 12 o'clock and the place (which is actually quite large) was almost completely full.

Went there on recommendation. Reserving a table was no problem. Lovely outdoor terrace. We were initially shown to a table against the side of the building. These are a kind of half picnic tables. Nicely made, but your legs are very cramped. At some tables, including ours, you sit with your back against the window shutters. I would definitely replace this with a separate small table for 2 people. We asked for another table and that was fine. The service was nice and friendly. We opted for cheese fondue. Very tasty! A burner was available. Others were in use (?). The plate with dips was very tasty and beautifully presented. The side dishes served with the main course are very tasty. At least as I read the menu, it is local baby potatoes, rhubarb, and local vegetables. Upon serving, it was a bowl of tasty rhubarb and a platter with a mix of vegetables with 2-3 small potatoes mixed in. Not a disaster, but I had the impression that you would get separately boiled/fried baby potatoes. All in all, expectations were higher than the result due to the many reviews. Otherwise, the taste was good.

We ate there on July 8th and it was fantastic. I have quite a picky diet and they handled it so well. If we are back in Harlingen with the sailboat, we would love to come back again.

Ate smoked eel and guild chicken with fennel. Both were prepared very well. The side dish (potato salad) was also tasty. Finally: I found the Moscow Mule a bit too sweet, but the Sauvignon Blanc-Pinot Grigio and the Sangiovese-Syrah were delicious. Nice interior and cozy atmosphere, not too noisy. Very good experience.

Nice place, the menu is surprising, like the stuffed courgette flower, lots of vegetables, friendly service, some things could be better, like the fish soup. But still, a really nice place!

At Nooitgedacht, you feel appreciated as a customer. This is partly due to the extra attention in the form of consistently friendly service and a bottle of water on the table as standard (even when you are only coming for coffee). The delicious cakes (no factory junk) are beautifully decorated with fruit, a flower, whipped cream, or yogurt. They turn it into a real celebration!

Good cocktails and genuinely nice service

My 4th visit to the Netherlands and this is genuinely the nicest food I have ever eaten here. We had the Dorade and Risotto. Both were outstanding. The sauces were perfect. Chips lightly oiled closer to potatoes than deep fried ones. 2 lovely complimentary side dishes of mixed veg and Rhubarb. The town itself is stunning as is the building where this restaurant is located. Staff super friendly to top it all and extremely good value for money

The eel was sublimely smoked, and both the sea bream and the wild boar were perfectly cooked and accompanied by refined sauces and side dishes. Believe me, please go here if you want to grab a bite to eat near the harbor in Harlingen. We had a delicious meal. We chose several starters from the interesting menu (which stands out compared to the neighbors). With a total of 4 glasses of wine and 2 cocktails, we were very pleased with the price. Incredibly friendly staff and centrally located relative to the harbor. Highly recommended!

One word: wow! During a business trip to Harlingen, we stumbled upon this little place by chance. Since then, we have eaten there three more times. Both lunch and dinner were incredibly tasty and fresh. We had pan-fried skate and rib-eye as main courses—absolutely delicious! The desserts and coffee were also very good. The service was top-notch; people came over for a chat, there was a cozy atmosphere, and just a cool (family-like) vibe. Everything about this place is good; it is definitely recommended if you want to eat really well. The price is on the high side, but that is only logical given the quality. If you are in Harlingen, go here!

These tables are spread over two floors – the lower floor overlooks the bar, while the upper floor overlooks the open kitchen. The more than 370-year-old building has been stylishly and yet freshly renovated into a beautiful restaurant.

We had a delicious lunch here. The terrace is picturesque, and the plants and herbs give the impression that the food is fresh (and it tastes just as good). There's a wide selection of fish, meat, and vegetarian options. The dishes change with the seasons. And the staff was very friendly and helpful.
