Due Tonino Restaurant in Kralingen-Crooswijk

I took some time before writing this review because, as someone actually called Nino, I was a little disappointed by the experience. The restaurant was very loud, and unfortunately the mushroom risotto was both crunchy and soggy. I also found a mussel in the risotto even though it was not supposed to be a seafood dish. As someone with an allergy, this could have been a serious issue. What made the experience worse was being accused of lying by the waiter. Hopefully this was an isolated mistake, but it was a disappointing experience overall.

The most authentic Italian Restaurant in Rotterdam! The owner Cosimo, is the most welcoming and friendly person. The whole restaurant has a beautiful little history and story. When you walk in you immediately feel at home. The food was incredible, still salivating! I will be coming back all the time as it was so tasty and of the highest quality! We had the Lasagna and Due Tonino Pizza, it was delicious and I want to eat it every day. The restaurant has a gorgeous interior with beautiful decorations and the staff were also super friendly. The drinks were amazing, I am not a huge wine person but I tried a few of the wines and I actually loved them. Overall the quality of this restaurant is something really special that I have been looking for and I am so happy to have found that at Due Tonino. It’s a 100/10 in my eyes!

Delicious food and a real Italian atmosphere!

For my husband and I, this is the best Italian restaurant in Rotterdam. We came all the way from Germany to see the two famous tuna restaurants. We were very happy, it was a dream to see them. We also have a wonderful memory of a photo together.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Due Tonino. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with incredible warmth and hospitality. A special thank you to Cosimo, who truly made our evening memorable. His passion for Italian food and for what he has built at Due Tonino really comes through. He took the time to talk with us, share his knowledge and make us feel completely at home. You can tell that this is much more than just a restaurant to him. And of course, the food was incredible. The pizza was beautifully made, full of flavour and clearly prepared with high-quality ingredients and a lot of care. The atmosphere is warm and authentically Italian, and the service made the whole experience even better. Due Tonino is one of those places where you don't just leave remembering the food, you remember the people and the experience as well. Thank you Cosimo and the entire team for taking such good care of us. We will absolutely be back! ❤️

The atmosphere was lovely and the restaurant was feeling very authentic. The owner was very sweet, attentive and welcoming.

The restaurant is very cozy, we felt super welcomed by the staff and they were very careful with us. Truly a piece of Italy!

The tagliatelle and lasagna were delicious. We loved the eggplant casserole with hot tomato sauce (melanzane) that we ordered to share. The service was good. It has a very warm and pleasant atmosphere. It's a good idea to make a reservation as it gets crowded. We went in without a reservation, just because we liked it as we passed by. But they took care of us and found us a table as quickly as possible. The tiramisu was good, but we found the cream a little too runny; still, the taste wasn't bad.

Just a fantastic vibe and people

We went there for dinner and the place was fully booked. Thankfully we had a reservation. So, always remember to have a reservation. We ordered appetiser mushrooms and main course pizza with anchovies and olives. I loved the food⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you love authentic Italian cuisine, just like Mom used to make it, this is the place for you. Walter is a true professional. He's friendly and attentive. His waitstaff are also very competent. We recommend the antipasti platter for two.

Very expensive for the quality of the food. They charge €9.50 for the aperitivo, even though they make it seem complimentary. A bottle of water cost €7.50, and overall everything was significantly overpriced. I would recommend avoiding this place, or at least being very careful about what you order and what they offer, as some items may not be as “included” as they appear.

Quite pricey for basic dishes that don't stand out in terms of flavor. The pasta was cooked together. Friendly service, nice to sit on the terrace there. Cozy place.

It's a little corner that feels just like eating in a trattoria in Italy. Everything is delicious, with top-quality ingredients and impeccable flavor—food just like your nonna would make. The service is excellent. The wine list is superb, both by the glass and by the bottle. 100% recommended if you want to eat truly delicious Italian food.

This is truly a fantastic Italian restaurant in the center of Rotterdam. The place has a super atmospheric feel, the staff is incredibly friendly and full of passion, and you can feel that in everything. The food is delicious and more than worth the money! We went for a bread roll as a starter, and for the main course, the Ravioli al Limone, the Pizza Margherita, and the Pizza Salsiccia e Friarielli. For dessert, we had the homemade tiramisu. It was finger-licking good... The owner of the restaurant has his own red wine made in his hometown in Italy, which is only available for purchase at his establishment. I would say: try his own red wine, because it is really delicious. In short, highly recommended!

Amazing atmosphere and amazing people working there. It feels that you are sitting in a restaurant in Italy. A family owned place that managed to cater us on a last minute for a birthday. We were 14 people and called last minute, they welcomed us easily and made the birthday an experience you can't forget. The food was amazing, home made Italian food. Pastas, piazzas and all what you expect in an Italian place. Totally recommend it. Thanks guys for the amazing evening.

The price-quality ratio is completely out of proportion in this cozy Italian restaurant. It was full tonight, but we are not going back here. We spent €120 per person and it was certainly not worth that amount. The antipasti is okay, the beef tenderloin was tasteless with the red wine sauce and 10 overcooked green beans and some fried potatoes, and the tiramisu was the worst in years. Addition I have adjusted the service rating to 4 stars based on the personal contact with Cosimo following my review. We spoke at length about the food, and if someone does their job with so much passion and dares to engage in conversation, then that deserves a second chance!

Everything is fine, but really way too expensive for way too little food. Grilled vegetables for €17.50 is absurd. The food is delicious, but the prices are disproportionate and leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth.

Really nice people and food! Had a fun time. Only thing is I had the seafood pasta and for my personal taste I usually do not like white fish in my pasta (i just like shellfish or pasta), but apart from that it wad a good time! ps. I also asked for more spice, and they gave us a special spicy sauce. This reminded me of home (Indonesia) and I really liked it !

I was on vacation in Rotterdam and we walked for an hour to get there for dinner because I really wanted to eat a good Italian pizza. We hadn't booked, but we found a table. It's a shame, though, I didn't really like the pizza. I don't think there was any real mozzarella on it because it was a rubbery block. I don't know how it's cooked, but it was barely warm, which was very disappointing. The waitresses were very kind and quick.

I understand the reviews about the typical Italian atmosphere. However, 5-star ratings are incomprehensible to me. The food is expensive; it tastes good, but is far too salty. The drinks are also pricey. Nine euros for a glass of house wine and 7 euros for a bit of water. It feels a bit like an old hospitality trick: serving customers salty food, making them wait a long time, and expensive drinks. Not a terrible restaurant, but in my opinion, certainly not worth 5 stars. A second visit is out of the question for us.

Tasty food, your word hopped well

It’s a small and cute restaurant, and the staff were friendly. The food was good, although the truffle pasta was a bit too watery for my taste, and the “3 pasta” dish felt quite small for the price. After we finished eating, we felt quite pressured to leave the table. We had made a reservation and were meeting friends we hadn’t seen in a long time, so the experience felt rushed.

We arrived on a Saturday evening without a reservation. The young lady immediately got us a table and served us for an hour and a half with the most charming smile. And then the food and drinks were yet to come. I ate an absolutely insane fegato alla veneziana while my wife was served an authentic ragú. We both ate more than we had intended, simply because it was *so* delicious. The perfect ristretto and homemade limoncello completed the picture. I give this restaurant a 12 out of 10 and would prefer not to share the secret with anyone, but the owner and staff deserve all the recognition. Conclusion: the best Italian restaurant I have come across in the Low Countries so far, from atmosphere to service and, above all, the food.

The restaurant is amazing, super amazing service, quality and flavors, the same as i had in italy, the owner is absolutely fantastic, super good energy. Always love to come here. They have an amazing wine selection and a great food menu, i have not had anything here that was not delicious. If you are ever in rotterdam, please do come here, reserve in advance, it can get quite busy, rightfully so!

I went with my girls there. Every dish was curated with love. We ordered vegetarian pizza, Ravioli al limone, Tagliatelle al tartufo and Nutella ice cream. i would really say its like traditional flavors meeting with modern elegance. The Margherita pizza is flavorful and has plenty of cheese. The Strozzapreti alla Carbonara is saucy and has a good amount of guanciale, which I love, and I didn't find is as heavy as carbonara usually is. The Tiramisu is good. Great way to finish the meal!
