For my birthday, my partner surprised me with lunch at Ed's Caribbean Street Food. As a picky eater, I couldn't easily find a dish that really appealed to me. Following my partner's recommendation, we ordered a few dishes, and honestly, the food was a pleasant surprise! Later, the chef, Eudia, created a mini tasting menu so we could sample the highlights of the menu. Everything was delicious and had an authentic flavor. Eudia regularly checked in to ask how the food was going and if there was anything she could do for us. It wasn't just the food, but Eudia herself who stole our hearts. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

First time there and the service is excellent! The jerk chicken with the rice 😍 I loved it so much!! Too bad I wasn’t feeling so well to dine in but I really don’t regret coming this far for thier food. I recommend It’s worth the price. Also the waitress is super nice and helpful.

I visited Ed’s on a friend’s recommendation and wasn’t disappointed. I ordered the pepperpot which had a good spicy kick that I’ve missed since leaving South Africa. The atmosphere was great, with a live DJ playing music at a comfortable volume that still allowed for easy conversation. The chef personally brought out several dishes and chatted with guests, which was a nice touch. You can clearly taste the home-cooked love in the food. I highly recommend paying them a visit.

The food was okay, we had a bit higher expectations for the jerk chicken. But overall we enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks. Service was good as well .

This was the first place I ate on my recent trip to Amsterdam, I was really intrigued by the vegan fried chicken and waffles. It exceeded all expectations - I would love to eat it again! Definitely recommend. Lovely balance of flavours.

This place offers a unique dining concept where you have a visually trendy place to eat some Caribbean dishes. I really liked that there was fried plantain on the menu which they labeled as a sharing dish but to me that small portion wouldn’t have lasted long on the table for more than one person. It was well prepared with a coconut like topping that gave it a special twist. As a main dish I ordered the ‘Vegan Chicken & Waffles’ out of curiosity because it’s a salty and sweet dish. I usually like salty & sweet combo’s but this dish left my stomach confused and disappointed. The “vegan chicken” tasted like shrimp rapped in way too much fried dough to the point I almost felt like there was only maybe 40% chicken in there. The waiters were attentive and regularly checking on customers. Really good. Cocktails however take a bit of time which is understandable when they are that good and a lot of people are ordering them. If you like sweet cocktails I would recommend the ‘Pash Me At The Pisco’. My appetizer arrived way before the cocktail (minus points for that) but it was worth the wait. Overall this is a good place for a date or an after work dinner because the background music plays at a volume and genre that gives after work vibes. Not loud music because you can have a conversation but yes, there is something “afterwork-ish” about the music

Very friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic, and the waiter and chef were incredibly accommodating. They were able to provide gluten free food as well. We had the jerk chicken, sweet potato hash, and pepperpot and all of them were very flavourful. Top quality experience in a cosy and charming environment.

What a wonderful experience - our waiter was extremely detailed in ensuring our order went smoothly, and the chef personally checked in to ensure the food was good. The chef also made sure to accommodate specially for gluten free cooking. The cocktails were delicious and the mains were filling, generous, well seasoned and just cooked fresh and hot. Thank you for the great food!

The head cook and owner is great. She personally oversees the kitchen and make sure her patrons are satisfied. The area is a bit small but is very cozy with great decor.

Had dinner at Ed's with my colleague last week. This is Caribbean home food at its best. A treat for the taste buds. Tasty and a great location. Greetings Yasmin

A friend saw Ed's on tiktok and recommended that we try this place. The food here was good. I really enjoyed the sweet potato fries with the Creole Mayo. The atmosphere was also really chill. You can walk in or reserve a table. One cool thing is that you can get a haircut, have drinks, and eat food all in one place setting. That's pretty cool. Overall, the food is worth a try, and the chef herself brings it to you. The staff was very nice and attentive.

Great carribean food. Remind us of our last trip to Central America. Best ribs I had in while, also tried the pepper pot and the jerk chicken: they were also very good. We found it the perfect balance between sweet and spicy.

After a 24 hour flight and no sleep we stumbled into this gem of a place for not only the best food but the most heartwarming service we've had in a long time. What a welcome to Amsterdam. The jerk chicken was melt in your mouth amazing, the chicken and waffles crisp and tasty and the cocktails deliciously refreshing. The tip of the iceberg was Sara our server for the evening. A definite must eat at when visiting Amsterdam.

I came here two weekends in a row for this heavenly goat chesse sandwich. But other dishes are delicious and nicely presented too. The relaxing and cozy atmosphere, great attention to details and hospitality of the crew is not something you can find everywhere, especially with this price range. Thank you team Le French Cafe!

Review of Rijks – Vegetarian Tasting Menu (Tuin | Garden) Walking into Rijks, you immediately sense that this isn’t a “typical museum restaurant.” It’s refined without being intimidating, and the service sets the tone for what turns out to be a remarkable dining journey. For my first-ever vegetarian tasting menu — and at a Michelin-starred restaurant — I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Courses & Impressions... Tomaat (Tomato, Strawberry, Honey, Basil) A surprising opener that danced between savory and sweet. The brightness of tomato lifted by basil, with strawberry and honey adding both freshness and depth, instantly set the stage for how imaginative this menu would be. Fruits de Terre (Amazake, Shio Koji, Poppy Seed Tahini) Earthy, nutty, and umami all at once. The amazake and shio koji provided a subtle fermentation complexity, while the tahini grounded the dish. A fascinating “soil-meets-ferment” plate that showed just how far vegetables can go in flavor expression. Tuinboon (Broad Bean, Sea Lavender, Pistachio, Lemon Verbena) This plate was a revelation in texture — the creaminess of the beans, the gentle crunch of pistachio, and an herbal lift from lemon verbena. It tasted like a garden in peak summer, delicate but assertive. Pom Pom Blanc (Lion’s Mane, Celeriac Bordelaise, Hollandaise, Curry Leaf Oil) Lion’s mane mushrooms are often praised for their “meaty” bite, and here they were elevated with a Bordelaise richness and the silkiness of hollandaise. The curry leaf oil gave it a subtle aromatic twist. A dish that blurs the line between plant-based and classic French fine dining. Millefeuille of Beetroot... The star of the menu! Even though it was an add-on, this was a piece of edible art. Beetroot layered like pastry, bringing both visual drama and earthy sweetness. Worth the indulgence. Glazed BBQ Tempeh (Oatmeal, Zucchini, Ajipanca) Smoky, hearty, and comforting, this was perhaps the most surprising course. Tempeh, often dismissed as “hippie food,” was transformed into something gourmet. The Peruvian ajipanca pepper added depth without overpowering. Bijenwas (Beeswax, Honey, Elderflower, Black Fruits) A poetic finish — floral, fruity, and lightly sweet. The beeswax brought an almost ethereal texture, while elderflower and black fruits tied it together like the closing note of a symphony. Overall Experience... This menu was one of the best gastronomic journeys of my life. Every dish was layered, thoughtful, and elegant... not once did it feel like a compromise for being a vegetarian meal. Instead, it showcased the creativity and depth that vegetables can offer when handled with care. Rijks isn’t just a place to eat; it’s an education in flavour, a conversation with Dutch soil, and a reminder that vegetables can stand proudly at the center of haute cuisine. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable, and worth returning to Amsterdam for!!!

What a joke, ordered “big” shawarma and it was a tiny portion and just terrible overall. Scam
