The quality of the food is good, but unimaginative, it's all very standard. But I find the prices really ridiculously high, that is really not in proportion to what you get.

We came to this restaurant with fairly high expectations, partly because of the photos and reviews. However, we found it somewhat disappointing. We found the starter and main course somewhat tasteless, although the choice and presentation were original and inspiring. Furthermore, the staff was extremely friendly. We personally found the decoration of the restaurant a bit of a hodgepodge, but that could also be a matter of taste. As far as we are concerned, the flavours in particular could be improved so that it also fits in better with the price and the concept that is presented.

Once again we had a lovely meal. And it is just cosy.

A nice, pleasant surprise on a November Saturday evening in Assen. The association of eating in a cycling café is more towards the daily special and plate service. Very nice to find out that you can also reserve a multi-course dinner here. Tasty, good, nice portions. Quality can compete with multi-course restaurants. The decor is nice. It does not smell of grease, but the space does breathe cycling. Had a relaxing evening with the table companion, partly thanks to the good care.

We celebrated our 12.5 year anniversary at Eet & cycling cafe Cours on Saturday evening with a group of about 40 people. A very nice location with many possibilities. Arne from cafe Cours likes to think along and comes up with great ideas to offer to guests. Our evening was more than successful and we received many compliments from our guests. The relaxed attitude of the "staff" helped enormously.

What a pearl! Nice atmosphere, delicious food and a lovely host. We chose the surprise menu and the dishes were delicious. The atmosphere is informal and cozy due to the name and decoration of the restaurant. But the dishes were extremely tasty, well balanced and original. If we are ever in Assen again, we will definitely come back!

Good restaurant, far above the average level in Assen. Also one of the few places that, in addition to the basic menu that you often encounter in the city, also offers a menu with more variety. Personal and hospitable. An absolute must for people who value quality.

How wonderful that everything is here! We had to change our daughter's clothes. Nice large space with diapers, wipes and bags available. Sanitary towels, tampons, everything available in the toilet. Super nice!

Shame! The food is expensive and severely substandard. Things didn't go well and they admitted that, but no compensation or anything. It's certainly not cheap either. So pay full price for poor quality and food! So not recommended!

I was in Assen for the motorcycle racing and I just walked into this bar by chance as I was passing. I’ve eaten at some of the best Michelin fine dining restaurants in the world as you can see from my other reviews, and I can honestly say the food here was as good, if not better than anywhere I’ve ever eaten. I had four courses from the ‘surprise menu’ and they were all AMAZING! The bartenders Arne and Joss are also two of the most friendly guys I’ve ever met, and are both very funny and welcoming. I will definitely be back in Assen, but this time I will be coming back just to visit this bar, not to watch the racing! 5+ stars all around, if this bar is not on your bucket list… it should be! Visit this bar, drive here, walk here, even crawl here if you have to… you’ll be very glad you did!

Very nice and hospitable people who want to deliver quality in cooking but also in the experience! In addition, the table was covered with a card saying “Nice to have you here!” and there was a wide choice of (white) wines and (surprise) cocktails. We also received an unexpected amuse-bouche. Our dog was also welcome and we regularly saw cyclists walking by with their bicycles, which, in addition to the gallant atmosphere, also gives an informal atmosphere. We've been here twice now; we recently experienced the surprise menu and ate from the menu yesterday. Both times we had a delicious meal in a nice, casual living room atmosphere. We would love to come back next time! Highly recommended!

After a weekend away, we stopped in Assen for lunch. Finally ended up here. That turned out to be a good choice. The sandwiches were tasty, the apple pie fantastic and the coffee also approved. In addition, a super enthusiastic and friendly owner. We also got to taste the homemade kombucha. Anyway, come back again for dinner.

Als ik in Assen ben is dit de plek om te gaan eten. Nu voor de vierde keer geweest en weer voldaan naar buiten. Vriendelijke en kundige bediening, goede wijn tips en niet te vergeten heerlijk eten wat iedere keer weer verrast door creativiteit en originaliteit. Tot de volgende keer!

Extremely hospitable! A unique ambiance, even for people who have no affinity with cycling. Delicious food, surprisingly good even. Ambience is warm, open and light. Very curious about the backyard with nice weather. We will definitely come more often. It's also funny that our children had a great time in the play corner, which makes it a bit more relaxing. I have visited Cours Wielercafé and I can say with certainty that it is a place with a unique appeal. Cours is located in a fairly quiet street with a number of clothing stores. The café has a cozy and homely atmosphere that is immediately noticeable upon entering. The interior, which is filled with fun cycling decorations, makes it a perfect place for cycling enthusiasts. What struck me most was the friendly and attentive service. The staff made me feel comfortable. In addition, attention was paid to ensure that everything was to your liking, which I greatly appreciated. Although I didn't have a meal, I did enjoy an iced tea and a goat's cheese panini. The panini was delicious. The amount of the goat cheese was just right. In addition, you got the honey separately, so you could balance the sweet and sour taste of the goat cheese. The menu offered options for lunch and dinner. The presentation, taste and price-quality of the food were optimal. All in all, Cours Wielercafé is a great place to relax, both for cycling fans and for people who are just looking for a cozy atmosphere and good service. A simple restaurant at first glance, until you have eaten there. Then you know better. Atmospheric and yet not too fancy. Menu or chef's choice: all equally delicious.

The moment you enter Cours restaurant, you are struck by the rustic, cozy atmosphere. The owner greeted us kindly and showed us where we could sit. You immediately notice that there are many cycling elements in the restaurant. There were bicycles against the soft green walls and tire lampshades hanging from the ceiling. After being warmly welcomed by the owner, we were allowed to choose a seat in the restaurant. It was a sunny day, so we sat in the covered courtyard. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very good. Next to us was a group of cyclists, who chatted with us for a while about the assignment we were doing. Here you really noticed the homely atmosphere in the restaurant. After sitting for about ten minutes our orders were taken. It was a busy day, due to a cycling event. So it took a little longer than I'm used to before our orders were taken. Cours is a wonderful place to have a drink after cycling, but the food here is splendid. You notice that the chef has an incredible eye for detail, which ensures a delicious meal. We ordered a goat cheese panini and a sandwich with tenderloin tips. I had had the sandwich with tenderloin tips before, but not the goat cheese panini. It was good, quickly prepared and also extremely delicious. The meat is purchased locally, so in addition to being incredibly tasty, it is also organic and ethically sourced. We were told this by the cook, who brought the food himself. In addition, it was a large sandwich, with many ingredients on it. There were many vegetarian options on the menu, of which I had a goat cheese panini. I don't really like goat cheese, but this was a delicious panini. The standard combination of honey, goat cheese and walnuts was done slightly differently by adding arugula and best tomatoes. This made it slightly different from the regular format of a goat cheese sandwich. It melted wonderfully in your mouth, especially in combination with the honey. The goat cheese panini is definitely recommended. Cours was a bit over our budget, we paid about 8 euros per sandwich, but the food was definitely worth the price. The service was fairly fast for the crowd in the restaurant, but despite the crowds mentioned in the second paragraph, it was nevertheless personal. The owner had a quick chat with us, despite the crowds in the restaurant at that time. With the cozy atmosphere, the friendly employees and the delicious food, I can definitely recommend Cours.

(this is something I had to do for school) September 24, 2023 I went to Restaurant Cours with some friends and I was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering we immediately felt the warmth of the building and the atmosphere and we knew we would have a nice afternoon. To start with, it was cozy and nicely decorated inside. However, we didn't eat inside, we ate outside, under a cloudy transparent roof, supported by wooden beams. It felt like a nice garden party, because they had very normal, but very cozy, wooden garden benches and small, cute picnic tables. Also it is not like most other restaurants or cafes as this cafe has a sporty theme. For example, there is a racing bike hanging on the wall and there is even a climbing wall. Furthermore, the menu was very attractive and varied, you can get different meals. You can have lunch, dinner, sandwiches and the menu changes seasonally, so you can always find something new. I had a goat cheese sandwich and a salad, which tasted really great. The bread was well toasted and very crunchy and the goat cheese had a nice texture, was not overpowering in taste and went well with the salad that came with it. Moreover, the price of the food was also very good, especially for how professional the food looked. For example, for a very tasty, filling sandwich, you will spend about 10 to 15 euros. The people working there were nice and polite. They had a warm appearance, mainly due to their smiles. They were also quite fast, we hardly had to wait before someone came to us to serve us. What struck me about their smoothness was that it didn't feel rushed. They were quick with serving and delivering food, but there was a nice balance. All in all, Restaurant Cours is a fantastic place to eat, whether it's lunch or dinner, this is where you want to be. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

The name 'Eet- en Wielercafé' is seriously misleading, because this is also an excellent restaurant. Recently had dinner here with our group of friends. Four courses of vegetarian dishes, very imaginative and creatively put together by the chef. It was a surprise every time what was presented to us. The whole evening had the character of a tasting. Everything was very tasteful and looked beautiful. Nice restaurant.

Highly recommended! Delicious food and drinks, nice atmosphere, good host! Also attention for the kids. Absolutely great! The cycling cafe theme was probably chosen out of the owner's personal passion and is reflected in the decoration. But you certainly don't have to be a cycling enthusiast (like us) to enjoy it here.

The food was excellent and the ambiance is also great. We were there during an event and were served within an hour! That was quite a downside. Never experienced this before, but we assume it had to do with the crowds due to the event. We will try it again soon because the menu and dishes are more than excellent.

Assen has a very nice, hip and relaxed café and restaurant. We were here on a Sunday morning for a cup of coffee with a delicious sticky chocolate cake. Spacious layout, everything about cycling. Very friendly owner. You can even take your bike inside if you want.
