Apricot was our first dining experience since we moved to Assen. The food was perfectly presented and beautifully presented. Pictures that tasted delicious. Highly recommended. But why should you have to be addressed informally by the staff, who are a third of your age? The explanations for the courses are largely incomprehensible due to the staff's background, and the lighting (mood lighting is nice, but substandard) makes it impossible to distinguish what's being served. The water tasted stale, and the fact that the wine bottles are held high by the neck is simply unacceptable. In short, the food is first-class, but adjustments would be welcome.

Apricot is, next to The Black Tie, one of the two better restaurants in Assen to dine for a long time. As a city, we should cherish that, especially when the experience exceeds expectations. What is nice about this restaurant are the great Armenian wine arrangements, especially when the owner explains this with his wine knowledge. You really taste wines that you can't buy anywhere else and that are very special in terms of taste, as was confirmed by a wine specialist who once accompanied me. Tonight we were surprised again by small details, red cabbage as a powder garnish with a dish. Ice cream made from herbs and basil, special taste sensations and very tasty. Always friendly service with a sincere smile. It remains a pleasure to eat here periodically. And the price-quality in this segment is also excellent. 5 stars for Apricot!

We ordered a six-course menu with wine selection (half glasses). The service was very friendly and attentive. The combination of wine and food was very well chosen. The two of us had a nice table with enough privacy. We were less enthusiastic about a number of things. The temperature was too low in the restaurant. I don't get cold easily, but I didn't find it pleasant either. The texture of the cod served seemed to have come straight from the freezer. It had hardly any flavor and was slightly undercooked. All in all, we had a very nice evening. we will definitely come back!

A true taste experience. This also applies to dinner, a true feast for the taste buds. The plates look beautiful. In addition, there is one point of attention and that is the speed and duration of the dinner. We thought from 6:00 PM to 12:30 AM was quite long.

Years ago I ate at Apricot a few times on the single passage. tasty and special dishes! Now this was absolutely the case on Boxing Day. Most dishes were very tasty with particularly tasty combinations and the meat was all very well prepared. The restaurant now on Torenlaan is much larger and all tables are nicely spaced out. The chairs were also good. The service itself was excellent, coats were accepted and the dishes were explained. Negatives? The time between courses could be a little shorter, which makes 8 courses a long sitting (4.5 hours). Furthermore, we should have been asked about drinks more often. However, these are small dissonances. All in all, this remains one of the best restaurants in Assen.

1e kerstdag hebben we hier 's avonds gegeten. Ruime opzet en de tafel word niet meerdere malen verhuurd op een avond, dus alle tijd om te eten. Wij hadden 8 gangen menu, en elke gang was een feestje. Lief personeel met humor, wat hun best doet er een leuke avond van te maken. Zeker een aanrader!

Met z’n drietjes hier last minute een tafeltje gereserveerd. Zeer aardige bediening. Het was zaterdag en daardoor was er geen 3 of 4 gangen menu maar alleen 6, 7 of 8 gangen. Wij kozen het 6 gangen tasting menu van 55 euro. Dat bleek een uitstekende keuze. Veel afwisseling en elke gang zag er zeer verzorgd uit en smaakte uitstekend. Kortom, wij hebben een heerlijke avond gehad bij Apricot!

We ate here yesterday by coincidence. The food was delicious and surprising. Compliments to the chef and the service.

We hadden hoge verwachtingen maar vertrokken teleurgesteld. De gerechten waren op uitzondering na niet écht speciaal: smaakloze waterige courgette soep, en waarom die aalbessen?? Slappe krokantjes (van gisteren? Of eergisteren?). En het ergste, de gastheer rook bijzonder onaangenaam naar zweet. Persoonlijke hygiëne lijkt me in de keuken nogal belangrijk. Het bedierf mijn eetlust. Om positief af te sluiten, de wijnen vonden we speciaal en lekker.

We hadden hoge verwachtingen door de vele lovende reviews, maar het bleek een eerder teleurstellende ervaring. De chef heeft zeker kookervaring, maar mist het fingerspitzengefühl om gerechten op een harmonieuze manier te combineren en te kruiden. Fletse bloemkoolsoep met 2 aalbessen als garnituur? Bij de combinatie van (veel te warme) tartaar met alweer fruit als garnituur (??) waren we zelfs bang om een salmonellabesmetting op te lopen op een zomeravond bij temperaturen van 30°. De 'krokantjes' als garnituur zijn leuk bij 1 gerecht, maar bij àlle gerechten is dit ergerlijk ... De jongedame die ons bediende maakte heel wat fouten: ze stelde de zalmforel voor als 'zalm', haar wijnkennis was pover, net als haar bierkennis. Dat je het publiek laat kennismaken met Armeense wijnen is leuk, maar dat de klant helemaal geen andere keuze heeft, mag dan wel op de website worden aangegeven. De witte en roséwijn werd veel te warm geserveerd en waren allesbehalve pareltjes. Ze misten de verfijning en klasse van de betere wijnen uit Frankrijk, Zuid-Afrika, Australië, Zuid-Amerika, California etc... Jammer dat er 32 euro werd aangerekend voor het wijnarrangement (halve glaasjes) hoewel ik had aangegeven dat de dessertwijn niet ons ding was en dat ik die dus niet wilde. De dame die ons bediende had eventueel een glaasje van de voorgaande wijnen als vervanger kunnen voorstellen, maar reageerde niet en heeft het vijfde glas niet afgetrokken van de rekening. Gelukkig was er een prima ijsdessert als afsluiter. Dat je de rekening krijgt op een handgeschreven papiertje en je dan aan de bar moet gaan betalen, past ook niet bij een zaak die zich profileert als gastronomisch restaurant. Jammer, we hadden ons deze avond anders voorgesteld!

Had dinner here again on Saturday April 20, 2024 (8 course surprise menu). It was a party again in terms of dishes and matching wines, a really nice tasting. Some special flavors again, enjoy. We knew Apricot from their old location, everything has now become a bit more spacious in this building, but it is still very cozy because it is divided into a few compartments. Staff is very friendly and everything looks neat. Quiet music in the background. I understand the reviews of people who think that everything is too little, but yes, you know in advance that it is a "tasting". Nevertheless, some bread or something would indeed be nice for the larger eaters.

Bijzondere lekkere ervaring met de combinatie van de wijnen een smaak Experience overweldigend. Heb al eens mogen dineren in sterren zaken als de Librije maar deze keuken komt aardig in de buurt. Wat een smaken, verrassend en uniek. Tip proef de diversiteit aan wijnen, ik als wijnliefhebber heb dit nog niet eerder mogen proeven, ongekend lekker. Kortom aanrader als je in de hoofdstad van Drenthe bent.

We had a great time at Apricot. Very attentive service and delicious food. Tasted very surprising dishes with delicious flavor combinations. A real party in your mouth. I'm not a fish lover but this was delicious. I would have liked to take a whole container of the ice cream home with me. The time between dishes is just right and so are the Armenian wines and beers. The Weizen is certainly worth a try. All in all, I can say with certainty that we will come back here again!

6 gangen met smaken die verrassen! Niet geijkte smaken die men in de meeste restaurants krijgt. Vriendelijke gastvrije en kundige bediening. Voorbeeld van het dessert…wij kregen een groenten dessert en weet dat ik geen groenten liefhebber ben…het was een 3 sterren dessert. IJs van knolselderij een bavarois van komkommer en een van paarse wortel daarbij een saus van paprika een crumble van tomaat, schuim van rode biet en een chip van pastinaak. Serieus wauw! (Zie foto) Grote complimenten aan de chef! Kortom een plek om nog eens terug te komen.

What delicious food! And what a service. The place is very neat, but I found the decor a bit bare and boring. But that was more than made up for with the very special and tasty food. Next time in Assen I will go to Apricot again!

The service is good but unfortunately the food does not live up to expectations. The dishes from the fixed menu seem to have been put together haphazardly, meat and fish have little flavor, soup is nothing special, pistachio ice cream was not tasty. Portions are also too small, after 6 courses we are still hungry. Serve with a piece of bread with the soup, a spoonful of extra puree with the meat and some vegetables! Armenian wheat beer was very very good!

You will be pampered by the waitress. She talks beautifully about the wines and the dishes and does so with a smile and passion. You don't know what you will get but everything was tasty and beautifully prepared. Fish and meat alternate with tasty intermediate dishes. It is an evening-filling activity and the four of us had a very pleasant evening

Had dinner at Apricot with my girlfriend. What an experience, very friendly and professional lady serving us who provided us with drinks and no fewer than 8 courses. I think the photos speak for themselves, all very tasty dishes (cheese board unfortunately not pictured). I found the desert the most interesting - this was a combination of all kinds of desert shapes made from herbs (pepper ice cream, curry foam, ginger bavarois, etc). All wines and beers focused on Armenia, very good. All in all, it was a nice experience that I will remember for a long time.

Eating out in luxury was something my girlfriend and I had wanted for a long time. This is certainly possible at Apricot. The explanation was good for each dish, especially if you like that. Slightly over the top treatment, but that's probably what most occur. I don't really want to be a bit uncomfortable when I put my coat on when I leave. In terms of food, I hoped for a bit more of a wow effect, which was still medium. Especially small dishes that were simply delicious. Personally, I didn't think the food was good either, but that's mainly an opinion. I missed vegetables and especially carbohydrates. When I receive guests at home, I don't just serve a piece of meat. Afterwards I went to the Mac on a semi-empty stomach to still get enough carbohydrates. The ambiance is certainly good, it looked very nice inside, it's just a pity that there are no windows, I got a bit of a cave feeling here. I probably fall outside the target group😇 so go ahead and form your own opinion!
