A very nice, pleasant restaurant/cafe. The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious, and although it's located right on the street, this gives you a good view of the harbor, and you might even see a ship entering or leaving, and the bridge opening.

We asked the AI for an advise for a nice little place to have breakfast on our way .. and we weren't disappointed at all!! This is such a lovely place and the food and staff are amazing! I'ld come back in a heartbeat! Thank you for a lovely and warm stay!

Great, we were there with 2 grandchildren. The staff handled this very well. The food was delicious, and there was plenty of choice for the children too. And to finish, they got a lollipop to take home, which was a surprise. We would love to come back again.

What a restaurant, seriously; they really need to listen better. We ate there today and received orders and something different than what we had ordered. What stood out was that the waitress didn't write down the order, resulting in us receiving the wrong food + having to pay more than we ordered. When we pointed this out at the cash register, we were looked at suspiciously and another colleague just smiled at us. The food was otherwise okay, but the service really needs to be better, and we weren't asked in between courses if we wanted anything else to drink. All in all, our opinion is that the service could be much better and that they should listen to the customer more.

The place is very lovely and the food is great! But the waitress that hosted us (with a long blond hair) was very rude - and we noticed that she was treating tourists in a bad way versus the locals. It's a pitty, because other ones were great and so does the food!

We visited the café on Tuesday afternoon; they have outdoor seating. It was difficult to find a seat, but the wait was short. The coffee and cappuccino were very good with cream. The waffles with cream and strawberries were especially delicious. Highly recommended.

Great location. Right by the harbor bridge. There's always something going on. Delicious apple pie. The waitresses could be a bit faster, but we're on vacation. Still valid in 2022. Same goes for 2023! Would love to come back again? Valid for 2026!

I ordered a warm waffle with cream and chocolate, my wife ordered apple cake and a warm drink, everything tasted great and we even got a small glass of liqueur and cream on top.

We had lunch as a family (2 adults, 3 children) at De Kwikkel and had a wonderful time. Pub atmosphere, quality AND quantity of food, excellent service, and great value for money. And a little something in French from the waitress as a bonus :-) all with a view of the harbor. Top-notch, I highly recommend it! 👍👍👍👍👍

At De Kwikkel, you can enjoy a nice, casual meal. Everything is well-seasoned and the portions are generous; for a big eater, you really get value for your money. If you are a light eater, you can also choose two starters without any problems. They pay close attention and regularly ask if everything is to your liking or if we need more. We enjoyed both the starters and the main courses. Our table companions who had dessert were also very satisfied with it; delicious food from start to finish. The food is simply tasty, honest, and well-presented. Additionally, the staff is very friendly and clearly does their best to make everyone happy, without anything being too much trouble. All in all, a pleasant and relaxed experience. Definitely a place to go for a quiet and delicious meal.

Nice place for coffee, drinks, and lunch. We decided to have lunch here ourselves on Sunday. We got a spot in the corner by the window. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, thinking it would be delicious because I'd eaten it on Texel. Well, forget it, the sandwich they put in front of me was probably from the day before yesterday, tough, and looked like an old man with steam coming out of his ears. I ate the "chicken" out, left the sandwich, and stopped going there. They don't offer much quality.

When I'm traveling as a tourist, my main priority is feeling comfortable. The atmosphere I experience in a restaurant is crucial to that. So: the food is good. The prices are reasonable. The service is good. And the atmosphere is great. I've eaten there every time I've visited North Holland so far. And that will continue.

What fantastic service we received at De Kwikkel. We called ahead to make a reservation for our group (12 adults and 1 toddler). They told us we had an hour between the steam tram and the boat. I was advised to submit our lunch preferences a day in advance. Upon arrival, we indeed had our sandwiches in no time and were able to eat a leisurely meal before heading to the boat. A huge compliment to De Keikkel!

Last week with a group of 9+ toddlers. We arrived by boat from Enkhuizen and were supposed to take the steam train to Hoorn after a 1:15 stop. We wanted to have lunch in Medemblik and called to make a reservation. This turned out to be a good tip. When we mentioned taking the boat/steam train trip, they immediately suggested we place our orders in advance. Everything went perfectly: we were seated immediately upon arrival, our drinks were taken, and the dishes arrived shortly after they were served. The food was perfect, and the service was superb. Definitely do it!

Great place, nice and quiet during the week. Spareribs were nice and thick, well-grilled. The mixed grill was also tasty, although the spareribs were a bit lean. The schnitzel was a good piece of flat meat, not fatty, just well done. The steak was very good, medium, and nicely plated. The Irish coffee was delicious and creamy and soft. And then the eggnog ice cream—well, the picture says it all. All in all, worth the 5 stars.

After a long walk, I ordered a drink on the terrace around 4:45 PM. The girl who came to serve us clearly wasn't in the mood, was quite unfriendly in taking our order, and five minutes later, the drinks were almost on the table. At 5 PM, she left and went home. Fortunately, the colleague who took her place was much friendlier, which bumped the rating up from 1 star to 3. Tip for the first girl: it's understandable that you might not be in the mood at the end of the workday, but in the hospitality industry, you can't stop smiling until your work is done.

A pub the way a pub should be. Dining with the coziness of a pub. My mother (86) and I sat outside. So, soup and chicken satay. Both were delicious. Nothing daring or special, just good. The service was super relaxed and friendly. A wonderful place. We'll be back.
