Restaurant Oxalis in Wervershoof

This Oxalis experience does not match the Oxalis experience from 4 years ago at all, which is a real shame. We booked a 5-course dinner via Heerlijk, which started off chaotically due to unclear questions from the staff about the dinner; apparently, the Heerlijk dinner is a stripped-down dinner: no amuse-bouche, no bread, and no side dishes. Then the dinner itself: we started with corvina, delicious and promising. Followed by goat cheese ravioli, a good combination of flavors, but apart from being lukewarm with edges that were more than al dente, it was only edible by removing the hard, raw edges. The 3rd dish, the crispy shrimp, is delicious. Then the main course: we really don't understand this dish; chicken fillet in a sauce that is far too salty, surrounded by loose, overly salty bits. The plates certainly won't be going back empty. Dessert: apple, crumble, mascarpone, delicious. Three dishes out of 5 were okay, after which 1 completely missed the mark; a meager score. We certainly mentioned this at the table, and it was also clearly visible on the plates that were cleared. Hospitality is truly a profession. The staff is young and inexperienced, rattles off a standard routine, and seems to have no idea what they are doing, completely different from our previous experience where everything was spot on at this level. This 'team' operates on autopilot, without any visible sense of what they are actually doing. When asked if everything was to our liking, after settling the bill without a tip, we clearly expressed what was wrong, but once again received a blank stare. Oxalis, do something about this and stop with 'so-called' stripped-down offers; you won't retain customers that way. For us, after this experience, it is no longer worth the drive of 140 km, and that is a shame, because we know from our previous experience that it can really be much better. You respond quickly, unlike last night when there was no response at all, and you read poorly. Furthermore, if you advertise on Heerlijk with your 5-course dinner for €59.95 instead of €75, the customer expects a 5-course dinner for €59.95 worth of €75 with everything included, PERIOD.

Highly recommended, a magnificent restaurant that demonstrates the exceptional talent of Dutch chefs. Beyond the bitterballens for which the Netherlands is renowned, the flavor combinations were subtle and the seafood and veal were cooked to perfection.

Beautiful restaurant. Quiet and stylishly decorated. The food (3-course lunch) was fine. The wine with the quail also paired well with the dish. However, we did not feel very much at ease; the service could have been more welcoming and positive. The staff seemed exhausted. We felt like a burden rather than welcome. Everything took a very long time between courses, and at the end of the meal, the empty glasses from the beginning and the bread plates were still on the table. All in all, not the experience we had hoped for beforehand. A pity.

A surprising occasion. Delicious food, and friendly service.

We had a delicious meal yesterday: a gourmet menu. Top flavors! It is a pity, though, that we were squeezed into a table between other guests, meaning we couldn't hear each other. Eventually, we were assigned another table. We feel a lack of hospitality here; paying attention to the guests instead of just serving. Tip: ensure guests are seated comfortably with space between the tables and present dishes with care; know what you are serving.

When I am in the Netherlands I MUST go here (3x 🫣🤣) so delicious and so atmospheric, great service, everything has been thought of. Highly recommended!

I have now dined at restaurant Oxalis several times. Every time is a little celebration, both for the eyes and the taste buds. Incredibly delicious food, an atmospheric restaurant, and incredibly friendly staff. They know how it’s done here! Surprising dishes with delicious flavor combinations and beautifully presented. Staff who are incredibly friendly and happy to offer suggestions. A fantastic combination that makes dining here highly recommended!

We had a delicious meal in Wervershoof. Service was great, a cozy, intimate restaurant, and attentive to the guests. There were comments about the toilets; I would definitely address this, as it doesn't fit well with the quality. There was also something we couldn't quite place on the menu. We had the sea bass, among other things (see the photo); a piece of the sea bass fillet was lying under the courgette. If you put sea bass on the menu, you expect sea bass; this looked like a quarter of the fish, and we were surprised by it. The price/quality ratio is reasonable, but I would keep a close eye on it, especially in West Friesland.

We had a wonderful experience at Oxalis. The food was truly fantastic, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout the evening. It’s also highly recommended to let yourself be surprised by the menu. It adds a really fun and delicious touch to the entire dinner. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful dinner at Oxalis. Thanks to the warmth of the staff, we felt welcome and anything but uncomfortable. I would say give everyone a chance (judging by some of the reviews...). They enjoy what they do and serve with a smile as standard. What more could a guest want? The food was sublime. We will certainly be back to enjoy a luxurious and relaxed evening out!

We had the 7-course surprise menu and had a truly fantastic evening. There was plenty of time between courses, the service was friendly, and the food was amazing. All the flavors and textures, and even a different type of plate for every course! We will definitely be back! We are so glad we moved to the other side of the street!

Today, my husband and I enjoyed a delicious 6-course dinner. Overall, it was a truly fantastic experience: the presentation of the dishes was beautiful, the flavors were refined, and the service was top-notch. We really had a wonderful evening. There were, however, a few minor points for improvement. To our taste, the carpaccio could have benefited from a bit more seasoning, which would have given it a little more depth. Additionally, we were served a green soup with fish as the second course. The taste itself was good, but quite overpowering for a soup. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves immensely and look back on this evening with great pleasure. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

We dined with a group at this restaurant, which used to have a Michelin star. As a result, expectations were high. The food was tasty, with lovely flavors and textures. Perhaps it didn't surpass everything, but it was certainly worth it. I might return again.

Cozy atmosphere there and good food. We were there for a special occasion, so the restaurant was completely full and the dishes were adapted.

The food was fantastic. The service left a lot to be desired. After 20 minutes, I asked for the menu and if we could get a drink, and no, it wasn't busy. You could also feel the discomfort because their knowledge of the dishes was lacking.

I ate here with a social deal, but it was truly delicious. What beautiful dishes, and I realized today that I'm just a simple amateur cook after all. :p

The food was absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chef. It's a shame the waitstaff didn't present these beautiful dishes with more confidence, instead of timidly and whispering about what was being served. They still have a lot to learn.

Tasty, but certainly not West Frisian portions.

A weekend in North Holland/West Friesland, I and my girlfriend picked out a restaurant in Wervershoof called Oxalis. It's fine dining with a good Gault Milleau rating, so I'm sure it's a good choice. The quality of the food prepared by chef Geoffrey van Melick certainly won't be the problem. Unfortunately, the lack of a good sommelier, host/hostess, and service staff is. You don't have to keep track of which table you're serving, and you have to dutifully recite what you're serving. In this segment, you expect passion for your craft, pampering your guests, communication, and attention. It's a given that the chef certainly has that passion for food. And respect for what he can conjure up from his small kitchen, but my advice would be to improve the knowledge and organization of your staff.

What a gem of a restaurant! Highly recommended!!

We dined at Oxalis on October 4th. The food was exceptionally delicious. The plates were beautifully presented. Both the corn-fed chicken and the tenderloin were excellent. The dessert was also perfectly prepared. The crockery and cutlery were spotless, as were the toilets with hand towels. In stark contrast, the napkins on the table were of the same quality as toilet paper. That was a real shame.

We had a lovely meal, highly recommended, nice service, spoke a bit quickly, perhaps nervously.

Another delicious meal, a true gem in the polder, and a restaurant we'll happily return to. Excellent restaurant with a surprise menu, featuring both classic and vegetarian options. They also regularly offer a separate 3- to 6-course menu in addition to the regular menu. Surprising dishes, excellent service, and a truly memorable experience. Well done, Oxalis, keep up the good work!

This place deserves a star. It never disappoints.

We decided to go for a steak at our fair (Wervershoof). Since our experience with this restaurant was excellent, and they advertised fairground steak, we were (literally) disappointed... Closed! No advertising, Oxalis!

Op basis van de reviews was de verwachting hoog maar deze is helaas niet waargemaakt. Ja, de gerechten (behoudens dessert) zijn smakelijk en verrassend opgemaakt. Echter de ambiance valt tegen. De bediening was niet echt attent en soms leek je te worden vergeten. Ook moest je te lang wachten tussen de gerechten hetgeen de belevenis negatief beïnvloed heeft. De inrichting / aankleding was “zozo” zeker gezien de aanbevelingen. Jammer had meer verwacht.

We had another culinary experience here, and Geoffrey and his team always manage to conjure up such delicious and surprising dishes! 👌🏻 We've been dining here regularly since his restaurant Oxalis opened. A night at the theater is nothing compared to this. Hats off, and keep up the amazing dishes.

Delicious asparagus menu! The quality of the round steak was disappointing, but the preparation was top-notch, so it was certainly not the kitchen's fault. It is unacceptable if you order a bottle of wine but do not open it at the table.

We hebben er ongelooflijk lekker gegeten, de smaken en de presentatie waren geweldig en een kundige bediening maakte het af. Je proeft in alle gerechten de smaken de ervaring Geoffrey van Melick heeft opgedaan met koken in restaurants over de hele wereld.

Wij hebben afgelopen weekend het 8-gangen menu gekozen bij Oxalis. We hebben heerlijk gegeten, royale porties en alles goed op smaak. De bediening zou wat ons betreft wel iets meer oplettend mogen zijn wat betreft lege glazen. Maar al met al een echte aanrader om heen te gaan!

We enjoyed the asparagus menu on Thursday, March 27th, and we thoroughly enjoyed it, from the asparagus cappuccino to the delicious dessert. We were very surprised by the various ways the asparagus was prepared. I won't tell you more, just try it. It's a real treat. Jan and Joke

We had a wonderful meal. On the recommendation of friends, we followed this restaurant on social media, and then we saw the "New Year's menu." It's a 7-course menu for €59.50. We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the dishes and their accompanying wines. The wine pairing is also available in half glasses (bob glasses). We've already booked our next reservation with our friends.

Best restaurant I've eaten at in a long time!

Top avond gehad! Heerlijke wijnen en gerechten vooral het eitje met kaviaar zou je mij voor kunnen wakker maken! Langoustine met Thaise curry en de andere vis gerechten waren finger licking good! Zeker de moeite waard. Wij komen zeker uit Bergen nog een keer terug. Tot de volgende keer!

The food is excellent, six courses and really tasty dishes. But the prices are high. This includes good, smooth and correct operation. Unfortunately this was severely lacking tonight. The price we paid deserves a better experience. The food is really good but was overshadowed by the poor experience of the service…

Als je echt lekker wilt eten moet je hier absoluut een keer heen gaan. De gerechten zijn met zoveel passie en smaak bereidt, dit is pas echt een verwennerij. Neem hierbij de uitstekende bediening en dat alles voor een zeer redelijke prijs. Dit is een absolute aanrader.

Very tasty food. One flavor explosion after another. Beetroot ice cream on the tartare, how do you come up with it, but really great. The main courses and desserts were equally special. The service is professional and friendly. In short, highly recommended. Slightly more expensive than a "regular" restaurant, but it's really worth it.

Type of restaurant: Fine Dining Was the food good?: Yes, definitely. What did I have?: Gastronomic menu 5 courses + oysters beforehand + coffee with chocolates afterwards + 4 glasses of wine + 1 glass of port. Price?: Not cheap but the food was totally worth it. It makes me very happy when my food is prepared with the necessary respect and care for the ingredients of my food!

We were there for the 5-course menu on a Thursday evening with a previous table reservation. The anteroom was completely occupied, so it was a little louder than desired. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and helpful in choosing the right menus. Each menu surprised us positively and was a great new taste experience.

Delicious food in this excellent restaurant. We ate 3 courses there with an AvdD deal. Dishes very well prepared, subtle in taste. As an appetizer we chose a small brioche bun with duck confit. Start with a sea bass ceviche, main course a piece of duck breast a l orange. Then a raspberry dessert. With the main course we also had a bowl of fresh fries and a salad worth mentioning. These side dishes were not an unnecessary luxury for us. Very good hosting. Recommended!

Afgelopen weekend met vrienden het 6 gangen genuttigd. Een feest vanaf de eerste amuse tot aan de laatste bonbon! Je kan zien dat de brigade er zin in heeft. Vriendelijke bediening met veel passie en kennis van de wijnen en de gerechten die ze vol enthousiasme uitleggen aan tafel. Ook de keuken komt af en toe langs om hun creaties uit te leggen. De gerechten zijn van hoge kwaliteit met top producten, mooie presentatie en heerlijke sauzen. Vooral het dessert zal ik niet snel vergeten. Oxalis blijf zo doorgaan! Wij komen snel weer terug

Ok finally had dinner at the lovely living room restaurant, ok it is almost in a remote corner but it is worth driving to. The chef worked at Heston Blumenthale's Fatduck and I ate there, so expectations???? So yes Are they made true? Yes, certainly, what taste sensations with each of the 5 courses, using only local products I'm not going to give anything away, but it's more than worth it, it's that I didn't dare to lick my plate clean every time.

It is with absolute pleasure to recommend this restaurant - food can only be described as excellent, each dish explained and beautifully presented. Staff was efficient and friendly. We had the 5-course tasting menu and we also got a selection of 3 amuses. Thank you Chef Owner Geoffey van Melick for all the attention you gave us. What delicious food here, everything home-made and all works of art. Even flavors that I normally don't like were wonderfully incorporated. The staff was very friendly and knew a lot about the food. With a deal it is still quite affordable, but the other prices are quite high.

Zaterdagavond 14 augustus hebben wij voor het eerst in dit restaurant een diner genuttigd. Kennis hadden dit restaurant aanbevolen: een culinaire aanrader. Daar is niks op af te dingen; mooie wijn-spijscombinaties. De reservering was gemaakt door Chef Geoffey van Melick en hij beloofde een culinair evenement. We arriveerden om 18.05 uur en werden gastvrij onthaald. We kozen voor een zeven- en acht gangen diner. Na de leuke amuse werd het eerste gerecht geserveerd; lagoustine met gazpacho. Bij de reservering had ik aangegeven: geen komkommer en wakamé. Mijn gerecht werd geserveerd met komkommer en gazpacho? Ik kreeg een nieuw gerecht zonder komkommer maar dit ingrediënt , komkommer dat vormt toch ook de basis van gazpacho? Hier werd door de bedieningen geen antwoord op gegeven. De komkommer was er snel af gehaald maar de gazpacho was hetzelfde.. Het tweede gerecht was de warme en koude coquille en werd om 19.14 uur geserveerd; de keukenbrigade lag goed op schema. Ondertussen liep het restaurant vol en werd het wachten; om 20.04uur (50 minuten later) werd de heek geserveerd. Vervolgens werd ons geduld nog meer op de proef gesteld; om 20.50 uur werd er gezegd dat het volgende gerecht er nu echt aan kwam. Bijna, want om 21.00 werd het gerecht nogmaals aangekondigd met de verontschuldiging dat er 'erg veel bonnen' waren binnengekomen in de keuken. Uiteindelijk werd om 21.14 uur, één uur en tien minuten later, de vierde gang geserveerd. Vanaf 21.45 uur ging het vlotjes en werd om 22.13 uur het Iberico zwijn geserveerd. Ten slotte werd het frambozen-dessert overgeslagen en de kaas gedeeld; te veel, te snel en vooral te laat. Om 22.55 uur zijn we met een vol maar onbevredigend, ontevreden huiswaarts gereden; dit was geen avond waarop wij ons hadden verheugd. Voor het lange wachten werd een fles bruisend water ter compensatie niet berekend. Eten op dit niveau is meestal een feestje maar was ditmaal een deceptie. De bediening had op een bepaald moment moeten inzien dat het uitserveren van ons menu in de knel kwam. Zij hadden daarop kunnen anticiperen door bijvoorbeeld te zeggen dat we lang moesten wachten of ons de keuze moeten bieden om het diner in te korten. Nu werd het lange wachten achteraf afgedaan met: 'het was druk, de keuken te klein en we hebben niet genoeg personeel'; wij hopen het bij een volgend bezoek beter te doen! Op de kassabon staat: bent u ontevreden, vertel het ons... Ik heb twee e-mails verstuurd om mijn ontevredenheid te uiten; Oxalis heeft niet de moeite genomen contact met mij op te nemen.

Eating like in the living room, cozy and not so noisy, food was of very good quality and perfectly prepared, taste was a little explosion, service was friendly and each dish was explained and described individually, the prices were reasonable, would be happy again.

Wij hebben vandaag een fantastische lunch gegeten bij Oxalis. De bediening was zeer vriendelijk, het eten was super lekker, porties waren prima en lekkere wijnen gedronken (voor een schappelijke prijs). Wij kwamen hier voor het eerste vandaag met een Regiodeal, maar het is zeker niet de laatste keer dat wij bij Oxalus gaan eten!

For starters: food is great. We had the 5 course lunch menu and all dishes were well presented, well flavored and just delicious. Why not 5 stars? Well, the service kind of let it down a bit. It’s fine dining, so leaving empty glasses (for water, which was not offered at all btw) is not what is expected. The (tasty) bread was long gone but the butter and oil was left on the table until just before dessert; either offer a new loaf or take the “condiments” earlier. Would we return? Yes! But if the restaurant strives to get a Michelin star some attention to service is required.

Weer overheerlijk gegeten. Bijpassende wijnen bij de gerechten waren prima.

Het 7 gangen diner was erg lekker. Echter vonden wij de prijs aan de hoge kant voor dit eten. De bediening was vriendelijk en de tafels waren ruim opgezet. Wel mag de bediening wat meer attend zijn zoals bijvoorbeeld het ontvangst bij binnenkomst en het vragen naar de rekening. Het toilet past niet helemaal bij de eetgelegenheid.

Mijn partner had een 4 gangen menu (€55,-) en dat vond hij prima, lekker.. Ik had een vegetarisch 2 gangen menu (gado-gado en een aardbeientoetje voor €33,-), omdat ik niet zo'n zin had in vlees of vis. De ober zei dat het niet zoveel was, maar toen hij het 'diner' serveerde, schrok ik toch wel heel erg! Het bestond uit: 2 sperziebonen en een half worteltje in stukjes, 3 piepkleine bloemkoolroosjes, 10 taugé, een paar ieniemini kleine blokjes komkommer, een half radijsje in plakjes een kwarteleitje en een beetje sroendeng. Dit 'alles' in een waterig, smakeloos pindasausje. Er zat niet eens een beetje rijst of kroepoek of zoiets bij.. Ik had het in 4 hapjes op.. Mijn AARDBEIENTOETJE bestond uit een stukje cheesecake, een bolletje tijm-ijs, 6 blauwe besjes en ANDERHALVE aardbei! Hier heb ik 3 uur (!) over gedaan! (dat kwam deels ook wel omdat het 4 gangen diner van mijn partner zolang duurde, maar evengoed TE LANG ).. Toen we weggingen, zat de ober bij vrienden aan hun tafeltje! Ik zag dat hij ons weg zag gaan, maar had niet het fatsoen om ons even gedag te zeggen.. Hier komen wij NÓÓIT meer..

Erg lekker gegeten met best een grote groep. Vriendelijke bediening. Hartelijk dank voor de plantaardige varianten op de menu's, deze waren erg smaakvol.

Erg lekker gegeten, de bediening was vrolijk en de sfeer prima. We waren wel een stuk duurder uit door kleine bijbestellingen. Minpuntje dat je voor gewoon water naast de bestelde wijn ook moet betalen..

Heerlijk gegeten, zeer smaakvolle en mooie gerechten, vriendelijke ontvangst en ontspannen sfeer. Gebruik gemaakt van menu-aanbieding, dit aangevuld met amuse en brood. Amuse van seizoen: aspergesoep, voorgerecht steak-tartare, hoofdgerecht bavette en nagerecht sinaasappelflan. Afgesloten met koffie met diverse lekkernijen ook uit eigen keuken. Het was top. Prijs-kwaliteit verhouding: uitstekend. Gezelschap: 2 personen. Serre was bijna vol, maar bediening was uitstekend. Donderdagavond. Geen feestdag. Kortom: aanrader om te koesteren.

nice pace to have a delicious meal os even a cup of coffee. Not much of a choice for a vegans... (or plant based...)

Gisteren lunch gegeten bij Oxalis. Vond de geserveerde rendang meer suddervlees als de echte rendang en de creme brulée was gemengd met passievrucht......... ieder zijn smaak, mijn tafelgenoten vonden het wel lekker. Bij onze lunch hebben wij een fles witte huiswijn genomen (kregen de Guerra, prima wijntje niets mis mee). Toen de rekening...... 39,50 voor een flesje huiswijn. Te bizar, de Guerra ligt voor 5,40 euro in de schappen van de Hanos groothandel. Jammer. Laatste keer.

Wir waren gestern Abend im oxalis. Wir hatten ein 5gang Menü und waren nicht vollständig zufrieden. Das lag an drei Dingen: Die Servicekräfte haben mehr an der Theke geredet, als sich um die Gäste zu kümmern, das Entrecote war zäh und kaum zu schneiden, dazu kein Kommentar des Küchenchefs und der preis war auf der Rechnung je Person 10 Euro teurer als auf der Speisekarte. Er wurde dann nach Diskussion (in der englischen Speisekarte war der Preis nicht angepasst worden) korrigiert . Es hat auch, vor allem zu Beginn, sehr lange gedauert. Die vier anderen Gänge waren dem Preis und der Qualität angemessen, geschmacklich auch sehr schön und gut. Auch der Hauswein aus Spanien ist okay und das Ambiente sehr schön. Wir haben schon besser gegessen und werden so schnell nicht wiederkommen.

We waren in de buurt en hadden trek, even naar binnen voor lunch. Ze hadden geen kaart alleen een gangen menu. Daar hadden we deze keer geen tijd voor helaas. Leuk restaurant, sfeervol ingericht en de gerechten die we voorbij zagen komen zagen er heerlijk uit. We komen terug, als we de tijd hebben om te tafelen.

Een pareltje in Noord- Holland. Zeker een omweg waard! We hadden een 5 gangen lunch en alle gerechten waren prachtig verzorgd. Een heerlijke combinatie van smaak en textuur. De amuses waren heerlijk, daarna een super verse steak tartaar. Mijn vriendin eet gewoonlijk geen rauw vlees maar dit vond ze verrukkelijk! Daarna een bisque voor haar en ik had een soep van kip met lemongrass. Tussengerecht van ravioli en truffel was mooi uitgebalanceerd en wederom heerlijk. Hoofdgerecht van eendenborst met groenten was prachtig gebraden. Mooi rosé van binnen. Dessert was crème brulle, kokosijs en een suikerlaagje met lemongrass. Dat maakte het weer speciaal. Kortom: rij naar Oxalis Wervershoof en geniet!

Logerend in Enkhuizen was dit restaurant een prima uitstapje; ruime en rustige setting, en goede service. We hadden een 7 gangen verrassingsmenu met wijnarrangement. Op een enkel wijntje na smaakte alles prima, de gerechten waren toegankelijk en klein, maar allemaal erg smaakvol! Kortom een heerlijke avond gehad.

Met een 4-gangen Regiodeal naar Oxalis......Viel ons tegen! Voornamelijk, door de Prijs- Kwaliteit- Quantiteit- verhouding. Betalen voor ( kraan) water "van de tap", zoals de serveerster ons vertelde. Waarvan, de opbrengst naar een "goed doel" gaat???? Dit, naast een dure fles wijn......dan sla je de plank volledig mis! De gerechtjes waren lekker. Bij 2 van de 4, was de presentatie goed. En vooral klein! Dus, wil je met een voldaan gevoel naar huis, dan kun je kiezen uit de supplementen. Waar je natuurlijk (extra) voor moet betalen. De ( minuscule dosis) Port, die mijn tafelgenote met véél enthousiasme koos, als begeleider van het Kaasplankje ( supplement ), was zeker in prijs, sensationeel! €24,50 per glaasje! Het is misschien raadzaam, de gasten, over zulke spectaculaire bedragen van te voren te verwittigen....... Verder, vonden wij de entourage summier. M.a.g. weinig ambiance . Alles, bij elkaar opgeteld was ons bezoek aan Oxalis een deceptie, met één "grote" belevenis........ De rekening........
