Cozy place, friendly atmosphere, and excellent food at a fair price. If you're at the market in Zierikzee and hungry, definitely check this place out.

Nice decor, and Texel under pressure!

How the food was will remain a mystery, as we never actually got around to eating. We had duly made a reservation, were given a table, and then absolutely nothing happened. We weren't asked if we wanted anything to drink, let alone offered a menu. After half an hour, we asked for a drink and a menu ourselves, only to have some of the drinks brought. Some of the drinks were misremembered, and the menu had also been forgotten. After 10 minutes, the menu was brought. And after waiting for another 20 minutes, we finally decided to pay for our drinks and leave. It was during the Zeelicht event, but it was clear they couldn't handle the crowd. The young man serving us was clearly inexperienced, but the more experienced staff could have monitored this more closely.

The food was good; most of the staff handled the pressure well, but a few felt under a lot of pressure and were slightly irritated. What also didn't make for a relaxed meal was that the reserved plates were placed on the table for other guests while I, and other guests, hadn't even finished their own meals or had been taken. There was a sense of urgency.

Enjoyed a beer with bitterballen

Dined here on a Sunday evening with my wife. It was quiet (an hour before closing) but food was delicious and staff very friendly.

Nice traditional restaurant which also serves as a café in the central square of the lovely and picturesque city of Zierikzee! Nice and smiley staff will propose dishes and different tastes that will leave everyone satisfied. Nicely decorated interior that resembles the interior of a pirate ship. Must visit for diner when in town!

Good and fast service, delicious food, fair prices and a pleasant atmosphere

We waited on the patio for over 20 minutes, and the staff took all sorts of orders from customers who sat down after us. We tried to contact them several times, but without success. After being ignored for so long, we just left without ordering anything. We'll never go there again.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Delicious coffee (specialty) and pastries. A lovely covered terrace in the sun. Nice view of the water playground.

Our visit was a bit bumpy. We sat outside in the market square. It took ages until we were noticed as new guests. Drinks came quickly. We waited another 15 minutes and then signaled for our order. After 25 minutes, the waitress appeared and brought our order to another table. After they waved us off, the food was placed in the service area, where it sat for 10 minutes until our table could be assigned. We had ordered mussels, spare ribs, and fries. The fries had gotten cold in the meantime, which we complained about and got new ones. The spare ribs were lukewarm. The mussels were OK thanks to the closed pot. The portions were very large, and there were a variety of sauces. Quality and taste, apart from the temperature, were first class. It's a shame that things went like this today; otherwise, 5 stars.

We stopped here for a drink in the evening and the service was really friendly and the place was great. The beer menu was a bit limited but the wine was good.

I drove to Zierikzee (170km) especially for the mussels. Years ago, I'd been to Markzicht in Zierikzee. Since it was so good back then, I thought...why not? And the mussels were supposed to be big, 2025. That was disappointing. I'd never had them, or even seen them, so small. Fortunately, the taste was good. But many of the shells were still empty, and the soup contained lots of small bits of shell. Too bad, too bad. Not worth the money.

Genoten van een gezellige lunch op het mooie en zonnige terras van Eetcafé Marktzicht. De bediening was vlot en vriendelijk en de typisch Nederlandse gerechten waren lekker, maar niet echt memorabel. Ik heb ik zeker genoten van mijn asperges met beenham. De pinot grigio die mijn vriend bestelde was echter veel te zoet. Zo zoet zelfs dat ik mij afvroeg of ze per ongeluk de verkeerde wijn gebracht hadden. Gelukkig was de verdejo wel heel lekker. Een gezellig eetcafé waar je je meteen thuis voelt.

A nice cafe with very good food for an affordable price. Nice cozy environment with very sweet nice staff who took the time to explain everything well and even offered a taster. In short, a great experience

Enjoyed a cozy lunch on the beautiful and sunny terrace of Eetcafé Marktzicht. The service was quick and friendly and the typical Dutch dishes were delicious. I really enjoyed my asparagus with ham. However, the pinot grigio that my friend ordered was much too sweet. So sweet that I wondered if they had accidentally brought the wrong wine. Fortunately, the verdejo was very tasty. A cozy cafe where you immediately feel at home.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to eat at this restaurant because the waitress (a woman in her 50s who can't use the excuse of inexperience) practically invited us to leave when we walked in and asked if there was a table for two. Her response took about two seconds of thought, without bothering to check if there was actually room, if there were any tables free, and without inviting us to wait a moment to see what happened or asking us to wait outside until there was room. It's a shame; they're obviously overworked, and if you don't speak Dutch, you'll be difficult for them.

Heerlijke op smaak gebrachte mosselen op en de bediening is super! Lekker muziek ook op de achtergrond. Leuk restaurant in Zierikzee.

Unfortunately today there were few staff and the waiting times were very long for a drink and especially for the lunch dishes, we and many others canceled our order just like many other people! Sad, then stay closed if you don't have enough staff! We will never come here again!

Great food, friendly staff and good service. Wide choice of tasty dishes for adults (also vegetarian) and children. Highly recommended.

Delicious food! My husband had sea bass fried on the skin and I had the fish pot. Really super tasty!! Pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff. We were able to join without a reservation. Great!

I have been to Marktzicht many times thru the years. But for me it has lost it’s charm. Food is just to plain for the price you have to pay. Service is good. Just not the food. Will not return.

What a great restaurant. Even though the kitchen was actually closed, my family was still allowed in and delicious meals were prepared and served. Such nice waiters, such a friendly atmosphere. Really highly recommended.

Unfortunately we had a very bad evening in Marktzicht. Fortunately, we had reserved a table because of the light show in Zierikzee, but unfortunately the Marktzicht team could not handle the crowds. We opted for the winter menu size and it took a while before we received the drinks and menu. The duck breast on salad starter was exactly what it described. Lettuce with 5 strips of duck breast, no dressing, nada niente.oh yes, our starter also came with fries and fried potatoes? Kitchen mistake. We ate it because we were quite hungry. No basket of butter at all. Then we had to wait quite a long time for a second drink and to remove the dirty plates. In the meantime, things went wrong at the neighboring table, they got their starter again instead of the main course. We had to wait a long time for our main course, but they waited even longer because we finally got their main course. Nice venison steak but not enough sauce and garnish, 2 potato croquettes and 1 small stewed pear. There was still a bowl of fries on the table. No salad or other warm vegetables nothing. The highlight was my glass of red wine. It was cold! When I examined the bar I could later see that the wine is being tapped... Cost 5.25 per glass... After we had cleared our plate we paid for 2x Afflichem double. 1x red port tawny and 1x red wine, 2x duck breast salad and 2x deer steak 99.70.... Too bad for Marktzicht, but we don't do that anymore.

When we took a seat, we were not asked what we wanted to drink. After more than 20 minutes we had to ask ourselves if we could order something. Then also ordered food. After more than 45 minutes we still saw nothing or no one. We paid for our drinks and left. Bad service, customers are not taken care of.

Rustic pub atmosphere with a feel-good effect. Service courteous and very friendly. German menu available. Starters, main course and dessert served with the speed of a good chef. Definitely coming back.

Not known in Zierikzee, so we walked in with 8 people on the advice of TripAdvisor. Very friendly welcome, nice atmosphere and fantastic food, mussels prepared in different ways, but also the surf 'n' turf is highly recommended! Thank you for the good care during a pleasant evening!

Great place to have a drink and a bite to eat, friendly people

Market view in Zierikzee is fantastic! Friendly welcome, a cozy atmosphere and a nice menu. The pumpkin soup was delicious, but the spareribs… they were finger licking good! The staff is hardworking and really takes the time for you, making you feel completely at home. And all that for a reasonable price! I would come back for the spareribs alone. Highly recommended!

We ate at Marktzucht today during a visit to Zierikzee. It's pleasant to sit outdoors in the free space in front of the restaurant. The service was professional and the drinks were ordered quickly. Ordering the food was less quick...it was just a lot going on. The menu offers a wide selection of drinks...especially Dutch and Belgian beers. The dishes are based on the usual local dishes: fish, mussels, sandwiches and of course meat dishes. We had mussels and spare ribs, which were served hot after a reasonable amount of time. Large portions and tasty preparation... no one is disappointed. We were very satisfied.

The scampi burger with sweet potato, super tasty and something different. The mussels were also tasty. Recommended

Unfortunately we didn't like the restaurant at all. We were chased away from our table outside because it had been reserved but there was no sign on it. The table assigned to us was in the second-class area outside and was much more uncomfortable and the table was still dirty. The mussels were tasty but small and sometimes sandy...I've eaten much better in Zierikzee, it's a shame...not again!

Burger wie vom Fastfood Laden. Die Brötchen durchgeweicht, Instant fertig Soße. Das Fleisch war ok und Medium gebraten. Pommes aus der Tüte, ohne jeglichen Geschmack, teilweise hart und ohne Salz. Das Salz auf dem Tisch war total eingetrocknet und somit konnte man leider auch nicht nachwürzen. Die Poffertjes waren teigig, in fett getränkt und ungenießbar. Service geht auch besser, war aber besser als das Essen.

Sat on the terrace on a Sunday afternoon. Left again after half an hour because the staff did not pay attention to the guests. No one came to us and asked if we wanted to order something. There were also people next to us who sat at the table for half an hour with a closed menu until they were finally asked what they wanted to order. Even when the staff was at the table next to us, we were not noticed. Ended up having lunch somewhere else.

Got hungry during an outing. What a discovery. A lunch menu consisting of a soup of the day (deliciously creamy mushroom soup), a carpaccio sandwich, a brie sandwich and a delicious croquette. The price for all this delicious food was very reasonable. The service is very friendly and fast. Definitely recommended if you ever end up in Zierikzee.

Fine. Nothing to complain about.

It was okay, there are def better places around. The ordered cheese sandwich was bare compared to the picture on the menu, it was missing a couple crucial ingredients and the tomato had been out in the sun too long. Apple pie was okay as well as the coffee, but that is the only positive I can say about it. It's busy, too many people cramped on the outside terras, was a kind of place where you eat your food and leave asap.

Staff is overwhelmed. Left after half an hour because no one came. Almost all tables were dirty :(

Nice and cozy, beautifully situated in the always beautiful Zierikzee, excellent lunch, unaffordable prices.

Had a really nice meal here during our short stay in the lovely town of Zierikzee. Friendly staff, good food and beer, good kids' menu and also menus in English, which is very helpful. The schnitzel with stroganoff sauce was lovely, and so was the creme brulee.

We had a glass of wine and beer here on the terrace. It was nicely decorated and nice and warm. Unfortunately the service was less. I was able to place an order for 2 drinks once in just over an hour. That order took a while, and it was stated that the receipt had been lost. After that they didn't come by anymore and they didn't look at us anymore. A great shame, because it had the potential to be a really nice drink spot.
