I felt truly comfortable and welcome there. The young people in the service and kitchen are unbeatable. The food is truly delicious, cooked with love and beautifully presented. What can I say? I'd go back anytime.

Helaas niet voldaan aan onze verwachtingen. Bestellingen kwamen niet gelijk, of helemaal niet. Stonden wel op de rekening! Het grand dessert is niet meer dan 4 bollen ijs en een klodder slagroom waar 12,95 voor wordt gevraagd. Na contact hierover: intern opgelost. Extern dus niet, jammer.

Not met our expectations. Unequal portions, food did not arrive at the same time, bread with herb butter was not given as a starter and the grand dessert is no more than 4 scoops of ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream. Had to pay the full bill.

We had dinner with 6 people. The atmosphere is very cozy. The food selection isn't huge, but there's something for everyone. There is a small daily menu from which I ordered a game dish (with a little doubt as to whether that was the right decision, so close to the sea 😳). Like all the other dishes, it was beautifully prepared and presented, the meat cooked to perfection! Also worth highlighting is the appetizer board (for 2 people or more)! We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and will definitely be back!

Very young staff where there could have been a little more guidance, especially in the beginning. But, the food was excellent and the delicious side dishes all tasted great. Various types of vegetables were served with the main courses, which is unfortunately sometimes lacking in many restaurants. Not here, so a big plus!! The starter platter and the various mini soups were also excellent and far from standard dishes. Remarkably young chef who did an excellent job. One visit is of course just a snapshot, but I will definitely go again. Nice relaxed atmosphere in the shop with nice nostalgic decor. Highly recommended!!!

The food was excellent from the starter to the main course to the dessert. The staff was very friendly! Since the map is Dutch, you should have a translator app.

Very positively surprised. I have never eaten so well in a Dutch restaurant before. The price is a little higher but you are really spoiled with good food. The dishes are beautifully presented, well seasoned and the portions are perfect. The service is nice, courteous and good. The ambience is cool and well-kept.

Delicious food. Really didn't notice any minflation. Delicious meat and fish dishes. Amplely equipped with garnishes. Chocolate ice cream dessert.

Lovely restaurant with a nice relaxed atmosphere, good service, delicious food, but the downside is that the chairs you sit on are terrible. But that makes up for the food. The catfish, for example, is really great!

We read all the good reviews so we went to eat here. I don't know if a new owner has taken over in the meantime, but I have never eaten so badly anywhere and had such poor service. Cold chewy baguette as a starter, shrimp cocktail was cocktail sauce with a few small shrimps. Meat in mourning after being sent back, fried tough. When we said something about it, and I say it politely, we were not treated kindly. Fruit flies and buzz flies and we sat inside. We will never come here again.

Krimpflatie......vlak voor de kerst gedineerd: bourgondisch, prima. Begin januari 2024 op herhaling. Nu eens een keer geen prijsverhoging maar krimpflatie : het normaliter uitgebreide garnituur was beperkt tot een stukje wortel en een paar boontjes, gerold in een plakje spek. Naast het bord wat frietjes en een bakje rabarber. Ook de wijn was " gekrompen" . Navraag leverde het antwoord: er werd zo veel weggegooid, vandaar......De kwaliteit van het eten was prima, maar het predikaat " bourgondisch" dat op de menukaart staat, kan men beter achterwege laten. Jammer.

Shrinkflation.....the usually extensive garnish was reduced to a bowl of fries, a bowl of rhubarb and a piece of carrot with a few beans, wrapped in a slice of bacon, under the guise of "so much is thrown away". Wine was also a victim. The quality of the food was fine, but the predicate "Burgundian" should be removed from the menu. Shame......

best restaurant in all of hippo

Another delicious meal tonight with the two of us at Ongder de Kukel in Hippo... Very cozy & cozy restaurant. Decoration from grandmother's time.... Friendly service & food came quickly. Preliminary steak & shrimp cocktail, really delicious! Main course surf & tuf, delicious pink fried steak & fresh piece of tuna served with 2 tasty sauces. Top! Something for everyone.... In short, highly recommended!

A very quaint traditional restaurant with great service and awesome food. The starter platter was incredible, and every item was delicious! They had a nice selection of local beers. The main dish was excellent and some of the best beef I have had in Europe. The pepper sauce was a great topping for the steak. I did not have dessert but many in the group did and they all looked delicious. I would highly recommend for a great experience and an enjoyable meal!

The food was great, very tasty meat and fish. Actually very friendly service, but our waitress was audibly sick (coughing a lot, you could hear her coughing up in the kitchen - it sounded bad) which makes you feel a bit uneasy about hygiene. Otherwise very rustic atmosphere.

To start it off, my email reservation must have been lost in space. I was therefore placed on a huge table all by myself - all other tables were obviously reserved and filling fast. So far so good. Had a nice view into the very busy kitchen. As a starter I choose onion soup, which was delicious, followed by the best veal entrecôte I have ever tasted!!!! Grilled to perfection but regrettably served with an over-abundance of sides. The vegetable (leeks ) completely tasteless, the roast potatoes dry and at least a day old, the chips and mayonaise, completely unnecessary. The sauce, well, it doesn't take much to add flour to melted butter, fill it up with water and then add some cream. All in all a bit dissapointing, considering the total price of the meal. - Agreed, the place was full. But 5 service people should be able to handle 15 tables seating 4 each. Also, no one seemed to feel responsible for clearing the table - I waited 20 minutes. But the staff in service and kitchen all seem to be in their early to mid-twenties and thus have plenty of time to learn and improve.

Hele leuke sfeervolle zaak. Vriendelijke bediening. En het eten is werkelijk fantastisch. De scharrelplank is heerlijk en aan te raden.

Zeer leuke avond gehad. We hebben er heerlijk gegeten, het personeel is zeer enthousiast en snel. Dat maakt het avondje nog leuker. Het is ruim opgezet. Dus ruimte genoeg om goed te zitten, das wel zo fijn. De menukaart is overzichtelijk en aan iedereen is gedacht van de vleesliefhebber tot de groentekauwer,.voor ieder wat lekkers, porties zijn top, je gaat voldaan de deur uit. Kortom genoeg lekker eten voor een redelijke prijs in een gezellige omgeving

Sehr besonderer Ort mit angenehmer Atmosphäre. Das Essen ist Wahnsinnig lecker. Das Personal ist freundlich. Mal etwas speziellere Gerichte. Das Filet mit Frischkäse war sehr gut. Auch der Ort ist sehr sehenswert. Weiterempfehlung ganz klar Ja.

Ein super Restaurant mitten im Ort, leckeres Essen, super nette Bedienung, sehr hundefreundlich und auch der Preis stimmt! Absoluter Geheimtipp!

Na binnenkomst eerst door een leuk oud kruidenierswinkeltje kom je in een prachtig mooi restaurant. Zelfs het toilet is met oude tegeltjes maar schoon. De service van de bediening is zeer vriendelijk en de kwaliteit van het eten is top. Een groot compliment voor de de koks. Ik heb met m'n zoon heerlijk gegeten.

Lekker eten en een goede bediening

Altijd een gezellig en goed restaurant. Er is altijd genoeg te eten. Een schnitzel of saté op de kaart zou helemaal geweldig zijn, maar ik kom er altijd graag.

Tolles Ambiente und sehr freundlicher Service. Wir hatten die Romige mosterdsoep met krokante spekjes (Senfsuppe), die Wieringerrandweg Palet (Variationen von Garnelen und Krabben), den Geitenkaassalade (Ziegenkäsesalat) und das Biefstuk Ongder de Kukel (Steak mit Speck, Zwiebeln, Paprika und Champignons). Alle Gerichte waren sehr lecker und sehr ansprechend angerichtet, das Steak war genau auf den Punkt gebraten. Achtung: die Portionen sind sehr groß! Die Preise sind in Anbetracht der Qualität und der Portionsgrößen absolut angebracht.

Ontzettend lekker gegeten. We waren met een gezelschap van 5 mensen en iedereen vond zijn/haar voor, hoofd -en nagerecht fantastisch! De inrichting is heel sfeervol en knus. En het personeel was heel vriendelijk en oplettend. Zeker een aanrader als je in Hippolytushoef bent!

Ein absoluter Geheimtipp in Nordholland, hier gibt es ein fantastisches Essen und herausragendem Service . Egal was man bestellt,es ist alles frisch und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Auch das Ambiente ist einfach zum verlieben 😉 Das war ein toller Abend....

Very cosy place, the atmosphere was lovely and so was the staff. The staff was very personal and took time to have a little chat. I had the mustard soup that was really tasty and then I had the fillet steak which was incredibly lean and just amazingly taste. Ended with desert which was a brownie with ice cream. The wine was tasty as well. 5 out of 5 stars!

Het was weer heerlijk. Kalfs ribeye... werkelijk nog nooit zo lekker gegeten!!

Helaas ben ik zeker al bijna 10 jaar hier niet meer geweest, misschien zelfs langer. Het was hier altijd heerlijk. Ik woon niet meer in Nederland, vandaar.

We eten hier met ons gezin. Eén van ons verdraagt geen varkensvlees, krijgt daar buikkramp van. Dat geven we altijd goed aan, en bij de keuken wordt netjes gecheckt. Het voorgerecht is prima. Maar het hoofdgerecht is niet in orde. Bij 1 van ons is de tonijn niet goed op smaak gebracht, de ene hap te zout, de volgende hap te flauw. Bij een ander was de biefstuk echt te ver doorgebakken, die werd richting taai, en was ook onregelmatig met flink wat zout bestrooid. Tot overmaat werd er alsnog een bijgerecht met varkensvlees neergezet bij degene die daar niet tegen kan. Hier gaat iets behoorlijk mis. De ruimte is prima en sfeervol. De bediening is vlot, beleefd en netjes. Maar als de communicatie niet helemaal goed gaat en de keuken flinke missers maakt, is het geheel niet in orde. Jammer want het draait er toch om dat je geniet van de gerechten als je uit gaat eten. De bediening probeert het goed te maken en stelt oplossingen voor, daar ligt het niet aan. Maar soms is het niet goed op te lossen. Opnieuw een biefstuk bakken helpt niet als de rest al halverwege is met het hoofdgerecht. Een matige keuken maakt een matig restaurant. De 4,7 sterren waardering is dit restaurant in mijn ogen niet waard. Het kwam op mij over als meer productiegericht dan klantgericht. Die biefstuk werd verder niet afgerekend, dat werd aangeboden, maar ik had veel liever betaald voor een geslaagde versie.

Neben sehr leckeren Essen, dass wir wirklich sehr genossen haben wurden wir u glaublich freundlich und höflich empfangen und bedient. Ein schönes, toll gestaltetes Restaurant mit zu vorkommenden Mitarbeiter/innen. 🍀

Leuke locatie en heerlijk met 13 personen daar gegeten!

Sehr feines Essen in gemütlicher Atmosphäre. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich.

Neues Jahr - Neuer Urlaub - und natürlich darf der Besuch bei ODK nicht fehlen. Wie immer wieder fantastisch und reichlich gegessen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis bei frischen Zutaten wie sie hier geboten werden, ist vollkommen in Ordnung. Wir kommen auch im nächsten Jahr wieder. ------------------------------------------- So, wir sind hier wieder im Urlaub und natürlich ist der Besuch bei ODK Pflicht. Wie immer alles perfekt, Service, Essen und Ambiente. Und - wir kommen auch im nächsten Jahr wieder. ----------------------------------------------- Sie kommen in dieses Restaurant hinein und fühlen sich gleich wohl. Hier wird man sehr nett und freundlich empfangen. Wir besuchen jetzt im zweiten Jahr dieses Restaurant und wurden noch nie eintäuscht. Wir haben die Speisekarte fast komplett durchprobiert , und wir müssen sagen, eine tolle fantastische Küche. Hier ist jedes Gericht mit Sorgfalt zubereitet und jeden Euro wert.
