Delicious food, nice atmosphere, I recommend it.

Unfortunately, my experience at Familys was not positive. I was walking my dog ​​there and he started pooping. I was standing there, politely waiting with a bag to clean it up. Before I even had a chance to clean it up, staff came up to me and told me I had to pull my dog ​​away if he relieved himself there. Sorry, but what more can I do at a moment like that than clean it up properly? The way I was spoken to made me feel quite humiliated. It almost came across as if I were someone who wouldn't clean up my dog's mess, even though I was actually standing there waiting politely with a bag. I fully understand that it can be annoying when dogs relieve themselves around the grounds. But then by all means, address the people who actually aren't cleaning it up. The way someone is spoken to also makes a big difference. Additionally, I have been here several times now and I have noticed that the staff does not always come across as very friendly and that guests sometimes receive little attention. Perhaps a customer service or hospitality course for the staff would not be an unnecessary luxury. After all, treating guests with a little friendliness and respect can make a big difference.

The fries are soggy and raw, and it looks like oliebollen with powdered sugar were fried in the same oil. Unfortunately, not worth repeating. We waited a very long time for the order. Kudos, though, to the delivery driver who was polite.

Very disappointing order at Family Terneuzen. Everything arrived cold. The burger was so full of tomato puree that it looked more like spaghetti. The bun was limp, fell apart, and was impossible to hold. Eventually, I gave up and threw the burger away. The kapsalon was also a huge letdown: lots of red onion, dry and soggy fries, and hardly any meat. Unfortunately, the gambas and the Greek kapsalon were no better; these dishes were also mostly filled with cold, soggy fries and contained little substance. For this price, you really expect better quality. In any case, we will never order from here again.

Fine food, just like in all family restaurants, and the waitresses really do their best, but the hygiene could be a bit better: dirty table, sticky menu, and food scraps on the floor.

Beautiful, atmospheric surroundings, friendly and efficient service. The only minor downside was that a €15 salmon baguette was sparsely filled.

It was a very successful evening! We dined with 11 people. Friendly staff, delicious food, many different things were ordered and everyone was satisfied. Portions large enough, good value for money, definitely worth repeating. If I have to give one minor point, it was a pity that we were sitting under the air conditioning and it was set just a little too cold.

Together with my 6-year-old child, I ordered 1 hamburger bun, 1 soft ham/cheese roll, and 2 drinks worth 23.05 euros at the ordering kiosk. We were told that we were not allowed to sit at a table to eat it because it was takeaway. Severely disappointed, and this is the last time I will come here. It is also clearly stated "take away," but I was mistaken; I wanted to relieve the staff and hadn't looked properly. If you get an ice cream for 2 euros, you *can* sit down. What nonsense. We come to Axel weekly because of the children, who really enjoy it. I regularly order dinner. It’s all over now! If I had known this, I wouldn't have paid 4 euros for my can either. This could have been handled so differently for 10 minutes of lunchtime. Thanks for the service, and yes, it really bothers me! If the young staff doesn't dare to take responsibility to make an exception. Which would have been justified in this case. Could you just discuss this amongst yourselves and come back to me to say, for example, "We’ve discussed it." Just go ahead and eat here. That's all. No apologies needed either. If I drive 2 kilometers too fast, I don't get away with "sorry," "I'm sorry," or "my sincere apologies."

Great restaurant in Terneuzen, highly recommended.

I orderd a beef special, i got I got two tablespoons of rice, small amount of meet, and the meet also was not ready, it was very chewy. Very dissapointed of family! And for 18€- this is unacceptable! My stomach is still hungry.

Only had a sundae and a small apple tart; both were very tasty. The student waitresses were very busy, even though there didn't seem to be very many customers present... They were friendly, though. It wasn't a problem for us, but our neighbors had a harder time with the fact that the service took some time.

We had a fantastic meal and the service was attentive and service-oriented. We will definitely come back if we are in the area.

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience. There was more than enough staff, but in my opinion, they were not managed correctly, causing everything to go completely wrong. Our starter, a trio of croquettes, was still frozen on the inside. No problem. The dish was sent back to the kitchen and we received warm croquettes instead. We did not receive the bread we requested. Then we had to wait for almost 45 minutes. When they finally cleared the table, we asked where our food was. To our surprise, they brought the dessert. We did not receive the main course. When we pointed this out to them, there was only surprise and murmuring among the staff. Yet, there was always plenty of staff standing behind the counter doing nothing....... We only paid for our drinks and starter, which turned out to be expensive.

Just a cozy spot for a simple meal with the whole family. Affordable kids' menu!

Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. There were about seven waitstaff members for only twelve guests, yet despite this, it took well over 15 minutes before we were served at all. The majority of the staff were standing together in a group, looking at their phones and being very noisy. This gave an unprofessional impression. With such a large staff, you would expect prompt and attentive service. A peculiar experience, but unfortunately not in a positive sense.

Quite a good menu, quite a bit of variety, the food was quite tasty, quite a nice atmosphere, lots of greenery, plenty of tables, and the option to take away. But the service could and actually should be better. First, we had to wait a very long time before we were served, and later they forgot the dessert. Although, forgotten? It was simply written on the paper. All in all, we dined for a very long time. Let's say, too long.

Nice place, but too slow, too much mistakes during the orders which cause extra waitng time. So, be careful with the orders and dare to ask when it take more than 1 hour to bring the next order.

I have eaten at one of Family's restaurants a number of times. Always to my satisfaction. The food offers good value for money, and the service is pleasant and efficient. Yesterday was the first time in Terneuzen. But that turned out to be a disappointment; it was chaotic and at times even hilarious. The most annoying thing was that two dishes on the menu were missing, including the lactose-free chocolate dessert which was part of the three-course menu. There was no alternative. It was strange and annoying that when settling the bill, the starter and main course from the menu were charged separately and together were more expensive than the 3-course menu without dessert. Furthermore, the service, which they did quite well but consisted of very young, inexperienced staff, made a complete mess of things. They put the wrong dishes on the table up to six times, dishes meant for others. When asked to bring drinks, they asked for ice without ice, but they served ice anyway. It also took a very long time this time, which is also unusual for Family. Perhaps because there were more takeaways and deliveries going on, there were guests sitting in the restaurant. Sorry Family, a big fail this time.

I have had food delivered a few times. The first time I placed an order with stew included. I got a huge shock when I went to unpack the bag. The container of stew contained only 1 tablespoon (price 4.25), which was far too little. The second time, I didn't dare try stew again, so I ordered garlic sauce instead. I turned the bag upside down after unpacking everything, but there was no garlic sauce to be found, even though it was listed on the receipt, so I paid for it. The third time, I ordered a large container of stew, which was enough for my fries. But 6 euros for stew and then those fries... so it was an expensive portion of fries and stew. Stew is nowhere as expensive as at Family. Last weekend I ordered fries with stew somewhere else, where they do charge normal prices for the stew.

Ordered two portions of fries with a topping. Snacks with satay. The satay wasn't included with the order, called immediately, and 20 minutes later the satay was delivered after all. Ate the snacks without the satay instead. The satay was full of black pieces; how dare they deliver something like that? As consolation, I got the three euros sixty back for the cup of satay. 0 apology. Worthless busybodies, expensive for the poor quality they deliver. Never, ever again. I still regret ordering here; I feel completely ripped off.

Ordered online, unfortunately the frikandellen speciaal was pathetic; one had something on it that was supposed to look like 'special'. The second only had onion on it and was fried so tough...yuck. Ordered one small portion of fries with satay and mayo, but no mayo. The other only had satay sauce. There were a lot of lumps in the satay sauce and it came with a small container of special sauce. Totally did NOT order. Ordered a strawberry milkshake; unfortunately, it didn't taste like strawberry at all. Very disappointing considering the amount you have to pay for this.

I have eaten at the restaurant a few times and have no complaints. Ordered for the first time yesterday, and never again!!! We waited an hour and a half for our order, on a Monday... The fries were truly inedible; they were so crammed together with 2 bags around them that the condensation had no room to escape the bag; it was practically mashed potatoes. The burgers were also way too salty, and the snacks were tough. Very unfortunate considering it is very pricey.

We have been here a few times already and have ordered a few times as well. The food is tasty and there is plenty of choice for the whole family. It is very nice that you don't necessarily have to eat fries with a burger, but that there are plenty of other options available. The staff is very friendly and we are always well assisted. It is great that there is a play corner for the children so they can keep themselves occupied until the food arrives. Delivery is usually on time and the food is fine. No cold food, which you sometimes get at other restaurants. Definitely recommended!

Good for lunch and a reasonably extensive menu

I had ordered online via the website a few times before. It was always good. Today was the first time via Thuisbezorgd. What a disappointment. Delivered 45 minutes late, and the milkshakes weren't included. The spaghetti was cold. The schnitzel was very dry, and the onions and bacon were charred black. The fries were soggy and cold. In short, a waste of money. I called about the milkshakes; no apologies, nothing. The milkshakes were delivered later, 20 minutes later. And you pay almost €50 for that. We won't be ordering from here again for the time being.

Ordered with work this evening, an order of over 90 euros. First, we received a phone call saying it would take longer; that can happen. The food was delivered well over an hour after ordering, and it was incredibly disappointing. First of all, we ordered two platters, one of which we requested without mushrooms, and they were on it. Additionally, the teriyaki sauce was missing from both platters. The fries were very greasy and fried in old oil; the hamburger had fallen apart in the box. The only positive thing was the raw vegetable salad, of which unfortunately two were missing. Although we understand that there are teething problems, this is completely out of proportion with the price and quality. Unfortunately, because of this, you are missing out on an entire hospital full of hungry nurses… *This was also reported back to Family themselves by phone and has already been handled properly over the phone!!

The food was delicious and the service friendly.

A rather pleasant restaurant/café in the center of Terneuzen. We were there in the afternoon and got a table without any problems. Our order – coffee ☕️, tea ☕️, cake 🎂, and a soft-serve ice cream sundae – was served quickly. All in all, it was fine.

We had lunch here, a lovely 12 o'clock meal. The tomato soup should have been fresh. The "vegetables" were similar to canned tomato soup, and the "Unox" meatballs certainly gave it away, and someone had decided to spice it up with pepper. I thought it was fine, but just make a nice, fresh soup; good tomato soup shouldn't be that difficult. The service was friendly, but there were fries and other bits and pieces on the floor, etc. It was quiet, so a mop and cloth would have been fine. (I worked in a busy brasserie for years, so I know what it's like.)

The food quality was good. Half of the dishes arrived late and weren't warm enough. Several tables weren't cleared during our entire visit. However, there were plenty of staff, and they were friendly.

We went for the first time today. It looks nice and atmospheric, but that's about it. Tables were full or had reserved signs (at 3 p.m.), but when we asked for a place for 4 (2 adults and 2 kids), a sign was suddenly taken away? We would have preferred not to have been seated, because we waited a really long time for our order to be taken and then for it to be brought. There were two people behind the bar who just stood there watching, and one who wasn't the friendliest person walking around either. We initially wanted something to eat, but after waiting, we weren't in the mood for it at all, so we quickly finished our drinks and left. Regulars come in and get drinks right away, while regular customers wait forever. What a flop compared to other family restaurants! This was the first and last time. I would definitely switch staff there.

Good food, but had to wait a long time for our food.

I ordered at 4:11 PM and reserved a delivery for 5:15 PM, as two children also enjoy eating. I called the location twice and was told it was busy. We were patient, but children aren't very good at that, which I understand. It was delivered at 6:05 PM. It's a good place to eat, but they didn't meet the delivery time. If you can't manage with two delivery drivers, don't bother! However, it was very kind of customer service to get a refund.

The best restaurant in Terneuzen. A lovely atmosphere, perfect for families. The food is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. There are plenty of options to choose from. It's really good. I highly recommend it. Everything is delicious and served with care.

Family in Terneuzen has a completely different atmosphere than in Axel and Hulst. The service staff isn't as fast. The food preparation staff is excellent; the sandwich was delicious! It's a shame about the service.

We sat in the sunshine on the outdoor patio. Service was very prompt. The young, friendly waitress. Steak wedges with teriyaki sauce on flatbread. And Italian toasted sandwiches. It was delicious.

A surprising good dinner at this restaurant, which we found it by accident. We got their Wednesday specialty which is a one pan dish served with rice or French fries. A good deal I must say. The service was friendly and we were enjoying ourselves.

I've been here several times, and every time, something goes wrong regarding gluten-free food. For example, the first time I ordered takeout, I got a regular frikandel with my order instead of a gluten-free one. I wanted to give it another try today, but mistakes had been made from the start. I also got the impression the staff wasn't interested. Despite having a reservation, we were only seated at a table for 4 with 5 people. I had proof in my email that I'd made a reservation for 5, so I disagreed. My order had to be returned (after a long wait) after I pointed out to the waitress that the sauce wasn't gluten-free (it said so on the allergen menu, and I've ordered the dish several times at another location where it's done well). By the time my order finally arrived, my fries were gone, and the rest of the table had finished their meal. It's a shame, because the food itself can be delicious, but with the service and reliability regarding food for people with allergies, I wouldn't recommend it here. The branch in Axel, on the other hand, is doing well (under the same owners, bizarrely enough).

We had to wait an hour for our food, even though the restaurant was only half full and two satay meals didn't take that long to make. Other tables also had to wait a long time. The satay we received was very dry. All in all, it was unfortunately not a good experience.

We were on vacation in Breskens and stopped off in Terneuzen. Mondays are schnitzel day there. So, it's just right for us Germans 😁. I have to say, we've rarely had a better schnitzel! With diced ham, sautéed mushrooms, and a slice of cheese. The price was really reasonable. We took advantage of it on both Mondays!

I thought it was a lovely place to eat. Nice seating, a lovely and fun children's corner. They have an extensive lunch and dinner menu, and because so much of it looked delicious, it was hard to choose. We ended up going for the beef stew with fries and a burger with fries. Both were more than enough and very tasty and hot. The only downside is that we'll have to come back next time we're in Terneuzen to try something else ;)

The three of us went to dinner in a nearly empty restaurant, but we still had to wait a very long time for someone to come and take our order. We started with cold, ancient bread with tapas and aioli. Last time, the bread was nice and warm, which was a shame. The ladies' main course was fries with stew. The meat was cold the first time, then microwaved. I had spicy chicken with fries. Last time, during the jazz festival, it was incredibly good, but this time it was a disgrace. The chicken was floating in a watery mess with vegetables. By the way, the kitchen staff doesn't even wear hairnets... not that they actually cook, of course, but still... And the housekeeping is indeed poor. Tables aren't cleared, they stay full for a long time, etc. There's one lady who's screaming her lungs out, the rest are just hanging around. I don't know what happened, but in a few months, things have gone from very good to very bad.

We ate spare ribs, this was really a disgrace, burnt, came off the bone badly and after reporting it there was no reaction, we just walked to the bar to pay, but unfortunately not even an apology after we reported for the 3rd time that they were bad and that they could taste it themselves, there was no reaction either, too bad they treat their customers like this

The food was good but the house white wine was sour. This was said to the waitress, before the food was even served, the answer was that it was the normal house wine and that this was not possible. Nothing was done about this. After the meal another waitress came to whom I asked for the bill and I pointed again to the full glass of sour white wine that I had left. This waitress had then gone to the kitchen and came back with the message that I did not have to pay for the glass. So unfortunately I was not able to drink during the meal because the first waitress did not believe me.

The lady who helped us came up with excuses. We were already skipped on the terrace, we were also skipped in the restaurant itself. From now on we will go to Family Axel because we always have a very good experience there.

Food was ok. Strawberry coupe contained 4 strawberries, with soft ice cream. No ice cream ball as far as I noticed. Hamburger was tasty but very big. And I don't find it really warm there. Compliment regarding the prices, they are quite low, so definitely try it!

Nice warm apple pie with ice cream and whipped cream. The banana split was oddly enough in a glass cup instead of a bowl. The ice cream is soft ice cream.

What happened here wasn't just bad – it was a complete nightmare. A disgusting display of incompetence, indifference and pure contempt for the customer. We clearly indicated that we wanted to sit on the terrace. What's happening? No one asks anything, no communication, no explanation. Then we sit down and wait – 15 minutes of absolutely nothing. Finally a waitress arrives, completely dazed, and asks what we want to drink. We indicate that we had already ordered – wide eyes, no idea what we are talking about. Pass everything over again. Ten minutes later nothing. She comes back, and yes: repeat again. Twice even. She literally didn't understand anything. As if we were in a bad play, written by someone with no knowledge of catering or common sense. Then: I went inside to get the drink myself, because the waiters are too miserable to move their legs. Later we were politely told that our order was “takeaway”, and that we were therefore not even allowed to eat on the terrace. While we literally said that from the beginning. No excuses, no responsibility – just blaming their own stupid mistakes. And then comes the low point. The “Dubai shake.” Five euros for what can only be described as spoiled, sour milk in a plastic cup. No pistachio. No chocolate. No taste. Just disgusting, cowardly trash. It was so disgusting that I seriously doubted it was safe to drink anymore. It's really criminal to ask for money for this. Shameless scam. The fries? Sloppy, squishy crap. Cold, tasteless, and dripping with old grease. Even a snack bar at 4am after going out would be ashamed to serve this. No 'enjoy your meal', no service, not an ounce of friendliness. As if the staff are sitting there waiting for their punishment to be over. This is not a cafeteria. This is a failed joke that customers are suffering from. The manager – if there is anyone at the helm at all – has completely derailed everything. Everything fails here: the organization, the food, the staff, the service. Don't fall for this. Spend your money somewhere where they know what decency is. This place should be closed down.

Had to wait 40 minutes for an order of 3 fries and 3 snacks at the snack bar, while this could have been a lot faster if the maid could multitask. In addition, there was also a hair in the fries.

Nice location/decor, but very disappointed with the order. "Dubai shake" for €6.95, tasted heavily of synthetic flavorings and was half a cup of shake and half a cup of whipped cream. "Cookie monster" ice cream was of better quality, but very small portion for €5.95. For such prices very substandard portions and "dubai shake" just simply disgusting. And in the end you mainly come for the drinks, not the furnishings.

We went to eat with 6 people. We were on the trip with small children so we asked if the door could be closed. Unfortunately it had to stay open. It took a long time before we could order. And once we ordered it took almost an hour before we got our food. Someone had ordered something that was apparently out of stock. But they only came to tell us after half an hour. Finally we ate, the children wanted an ice cream and the adults had another coffee, the coffee was almost gone and the ice cream wasn't there yet... The hamburger was tasty but the service and atmosphere unfortunately weren't. Next time we'll go back to Axel!
