Fat Phill's Diner in Grachtengordel-Zuid

I had the double cheeseburger and fries with a Diet Coke. I would have liked the option to have ketchup instead of Phil’s sauce, but it wasn’t offered. Next time I’ll ask. The food itself was really good. The burger meat was very good and everything was well cooked. The location is very small which is unfortunate. I don’t like taking my food to go… if the place were larger I’d be more likely to come back more often in the colder months. As it stands, I’d only visit again if I walk by and see space/room inside or if it were warm enough to eat outside.

The music was good, the atmosphere was on, but when it came to the food, even the children in Gaza, I don't want this, that mac & cheese was just so dirty, even the neighbor's dog would have to throw up, that chicken Nashville burger just wasn't crispy either. the sauce was really ridiculously bad even my own barf tastes better and the lady behind the cash register didn't smile once

Terrible staff. Company was half empty with plenty of seating and when we wanted to order at the screen an employee shouted that they were not taking orders now and that we should come back in 20 minutes. 1 star is honestly too much.

Food is good but I've never had an experience where they didn't get the order wrong and then attempt to gaslight me into thinking it was my fault. The guys working here are rude to say the least. I've eaten in and ordered from here around 3-4 times. Every experience is different but there's never been one that hasn't involved them messing up something or being rude.

Was craving a nice greasy Philly cheesesteak and while this may not be exactly what I consider a Philly cheesesteak it was still pretty damn good and I will be back

we ordered a vegetarian burger and a philly cheese with fries. We took it to go, but I realized we didn’t get any napkins, which I think is a big mistake—there should definitely be enough napkins with every order. The fries were soggy and not very good, and the burger had just one small pickle, which is honestly ridiculous. The bun on the Philly cheese steak wasn’t good either. The food did fill us up. but the ordering screen was glitchy. I’m taking off 2 stars

Perfect Burger whit good price. Good music and clear tables.

The food is really good, but the shop is surrounded by rubbish. That also gave us reason not to eat the food there. When we wanted to pay, the colleagues quickly put the card payment machine away when they saw that we didn't speak Dutch and said: 'Only Cash', even though the people in front of us had paid with the card. Think it should be clear to everyone what was going on in this situation.

Was there with my family yesterday, the service and personel where amazing. Easy manu to read, lots of food to choose from. ABOUT: the quality, its fresh meat, not like anyothers. Unfortnetly the food was sooo good we forgot to take picture.

There are friendly people working at the place but the food is bad. There is so much sauce on everything. It makes it soggy and you don't taste much except from the sauce. I know it's fastfood and all...but expected a little bit more quality for this price. This just made me feel disgusting while eating to be honest.

Solid, good, and easily top 3 on the city. Perfect pit stop before watching a movie at the theater. This is the closest to an in-and-out burger in Amsterdam. First time I dare to say that after more than 10years trying to find the dutch equivalent.

couldn't even communicate with them because all you hear is the loud disco music. do you listen to the customers (comments)? the location was also less... and yet I decided to give them a chance. I traveled all the way for 2 hours to get here. People's food looked good, so I ordered anyway. he says casually when I have finished ordering, come and order in 20/30 minutes. it's busy now (there were only a few people..). and then wait another half hour for my food which will make it 1 hour? no thanks. You could really indicate that earlier... before I ordered. Shame. hopefully someone else doesn't experience this. 👍

I liked this burger! Soft greasy buttered bun, perfect seasoning and cooked patties with delicious sauce, got the sweet potato fries and a beer

Burgers were very messy, most of the sauce and toppings was outside the bun. Even more annoying, they had me pay 2x 0,75 euro's for 'plastic packaging' while the burgers are delivered without plastic (just a carton box)

Overall pretty good. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Fries. Reminds me of Zaxby's (American).

The food is here is delicious, the atmosphere is shocking, loud music to the point you will find it hard to hear your own thoughts. There is a machine for ordering, USE this , DO NOT pay cash as you may be charged more than your supposed to. Who ever owns this place should visit from time to time so they are aware of how it is actually being run

Great food. The phill sauce was really tasty. It tastes like a sweet version of an andalouse sauce from "William". Unfortunately it was cold inside bc of the door that was open. Really ghetto ambiance. Music loud on the speaker. Not really what we expected. Its probably nicer to just take away than eat over there. It was expansive as hell for a fast food, although, i understand because of the quality of the ingredients. But the experience it gave wasnt worth the quality of the food. Definitely would have got a great note if it was on uber eat or takeaway

Just tried the meaty madness with beef bacon. Lots of butter and sauces. Super tasty. Big Belly was sold out or something. You can add sides, but in principle you are completely full after 1 burger. Friendly staff.

So rude asked for all the food plain and got sauce of them waiting for 20 minutes to get our food wouldn’t give me my money back when I asked for it and also said they ran out of chicken. Would give the service a 0 star if I could

I don’t know who the chef was but the Philly cheese steak was one of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve been to Philly before for a cheesesteak and this one was up there.

OK for the price but unhygienic I went there for the first time and took a loaded fried (pastrami+steak), the portion was huge and I found the price more than ok for Amsterdam. It's not great quality but still ok. The "cheese" doesn't taste like cheddar nor cheese at all, even if there's a huge quantity. Actually, no ingredients as a "real" taste. It's just a big mashed thing but it's full filling and fat. Something that will not make me come again is the fact that (as a looot of fast food) server/cook (it's the same person yes) use gloves. Gloves are the most disgusting thing in restauration (I worked several years as a cook), it just collect all the dirt from everywhere , unless you change them every 15 min it's way waaaay less hygienic than using your bare hand and clean them often. Servers touch meat, fries, bags then ticket, then bankcard machine, cash then screen with the same pair of gloves, that's extremely unhygienic.

Ordered food here for the first time yesterday, I ordered a cheese burger with cheese fries and a milkshake. The food was so bad! And in fact it cost us 45 euros for both, which is not normal for what we got! Even a burger from McDonald's or a snack bar is 10x better than this. The cheese fries were delicious! Sauce was super watery and tasted terribly nasty. I got super sick, got food poisoning + diarrhea. I don't advise anyone to order food here! First and last time! This really isn't worth your money!!! RATHER BUY MC DONALD'S!

A quality fast food at a relatively high price but which is felt in the taste of the food. Two very kind and attentive team members, one of whom did not hesitate to help me with the terminal when I needed it, thank you to them. Very grateful and friendly, we were able to eat on the terrace without being disturbed.

We arrived 1.5 hours before their closing time. First they said there is no cheese left. We said ok and still ordered. We have been waiting for 20 minutes for a sandwich. While waiting, they also said they are closing and got us out of our chairs leaving us no place to eat. Really bad service. Dirty tables. Bad attitude. Never again!

Very nice shop cozy and also spot outside to eat. I eat two dishes. One burger was very nice and famous steak cheese phills bread.

If I could give 6 stars I would. Rustic modern establishment with amazing high quality food for extemely fair prices, room to eat in or outside. Card & Cash payments accepted. Workers actually enjoy working their as far as I can tell, putting effort into their craft, understanding and clear. Highly recommend if you're ever in Amsterdam. Great branding too across the company.

Best burger I’ve had in Amsterdam

Bought food yesterday, and when I picked it up I was told that the normal containers had run out and that it had to be put in a super small container. Not compensated in any way and paid 13.50. The fries were not cooked properly and there was barely any chicken on them.

Disappointed with this case the prices are too expensive a burger for 11.00? Ridiculously expensive. Don't come here again!

Most meats, sauces, sides were out of stock. Ordering process was slow and chaotic. You will spend more time waiting than eating.

The burgers and fries were delicious. There is hardly any seating inside, there is a few more outside. The prices are unbelievable for a burger joint. The two of us paid a little over €50.

Very insistent waiter, not even having time to go in and look at the menu that we feel directly attacked. We wanted to order at the terminal like the other customers but they wouldn't let us, they wanted us to pay in cash We ended up leaving

We wanted to eat there last night! Big MISTAKE!!! We were waiting for customers to finish eating so we could sit, as they were a group as large as ours. However, we saw chairs and tables turned over, so we politely asked the two chefs working on Thursday, January 25th if we could take those tables and chairs. They responded that if there was no space, we should leave and go elsewhere, a bit harsh but somewhat understandable. We waited for the group to finish eating to finally sit down and re-entered. We spoke French among ourselves, and as we were about to order at the kiosk, the man told us it wasn't working. He insisted that we had to pay in cash, or else our group couldn't eat here. However, we had just seen customers paying with cards, and we heard the next customers, who also paid with cards. A friend spoke in Spanish with customers who confirmed they too paid with cards. The chefs started yelling at us aggressively, ''GET OUT GET OUT" ??!!! They maybe work off the books, seemed to use the same gloves for cooking as for cleaning, rude, aggressive, and likely racist. Do not go to a place where they don't respect customers; there are plenty of other great restaurants in the city that will welcome you better, regardless of your nationality.

Eating ice cubs is probably a better solution than ordering their “hot” food :)

I would have loved to write a review on the food but unfortunately after trying not once but on two different occasions we were told weren't able to order. So, we walked four minutes away to Cannibal Royale and had an amazing burger in a nice atmosphere. I would suggest you do the same.

I'd love to comment on the food, but we weren't allowed to order. Waited in line to order at a touch screen and then told we had to wait because they ran out of pagers. Everyone around us was waiting for food the whole time we were in line. A waste of time, not worth waiting, a small dirty place. Only 4 small indoor tables

Unbelievably delicious hamburgers! Honestly, I have not had better burgers. This place is small with limited seating but the food is amazing and prices good.

Delicious sándwiches and fries, but it took us more than 40 min to order and others 30 min to get our food and I wasn’t even that full. If they can improve that it will get the 5 stars.

burger was pretty decent (kinda small) but the fries were soggy and there was a hair in the chicken burger so probably wouldn't pay so much for something like that again, and wouldn't recommend it. not what it used to be when they started

Inzwischen bin ich regelmäßig in Amsterdam. Dieses Lokal ist ein MUSS! Der Burger unfassbar saftig! Die CheesSteakFries lecker! Preislich absolut Okay für die Lage fast schon zu günstig. Mein Resümee Es gibt nicht viel zu dem Burger laden zu sagen. Geht selber hin und überzeugt euch. Meine erste Anlaufstelle jedes Jahr, ist Fat Phills!

Sehr kleiner Laden. Drinnen sehr eng. 4 kleine Tische mit 9 Sitzplätzen. Wenn die Kunden anstehen ist kein Platz mehr(zum Essen) im Diner. Draußen gibt mehr Sitzplätze. Leider in unmittelbarer Nähe von Mülltonnen. Man bestellt digital an einem Bildschirm, kann Zutaten abwählen oder hinzufügen. Was sehr praktisch sein kann, aber zu einem die Warteschlange und Wartezeit wirklich sehr verlängert. Wir hatten die Tomaten und den Käse auf den Burgern abgewählt. Dies wurde leider nicht beachtet. Das Sandwich ist ein labriges Baguette. Hatte auf einen Toast mit Salat gehofft. Die Gitterpommes waren gut. Aber anstatt mit Ketchup kamen sie mit Cocktail sauce.

I couldn't understand the negative comments. It was one of the rare places I visited twice while in Amsterdam. It's in the top 5 of all the burgers I've ever eaten. The only downside is that the screen where you create your own order is a bit complicated, and the employees are indifferent. Prices are reasonable depending on the region

Staff don't care. You have to wait an hour in line just to order and then 40 minutes to get your food. The fries were too salty and the burger is on par with a mcdonalds cheeseburger for double the price. The place is way too small also
