I really expected more. I’m a big “matcha girl”. My best friend is a connoisseur in matcha, she has her own matcha brand and has just opened her matcha bar. (In SA unfortunately for us all). We drink matcha. THIS matcha must be the worst matcha I’ve drunk in my life. I’m so disappointed - I was craving matcha so hard today. As I type this I’m not even half way through because I’m so bleak about this experience.

Sour coffee, and the barista was even more sour. Not worth your time/money.

Although the coffee was okay, my experience at 5ways Coffee on Kinkerstraat wasn’t the best. When I entered, nobody welcomed me, and I ended up waiting quite a while before someone finally took my order. It wasn’t busy at all — I was the only customer at that moment — but the staff seemed preoccupied talking with another customer who was very loud. I understand they were busy, but still, a warm welcome would have been much appreciated. Instead, I felt ignored for quite some time, which left a disappointing impression.

I visited Five Ways looking forward to a nice experience, but unfortunately, it was very disappointing. My card wasn’t working that day, so I offered to pay in cash but the staff was extremely unfriendly and responded with a passive aggressive attitude. They don’t accept cash, which I understand, but there is absolutely no visible sign indicating this. Instead of offering a kind explanation or a solution, they made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Definitely not a place I would return to.

We had a hot chocolate and a flat white, and both were very tasty. The small balcony was a great place to relax and watch the hustle and bustle. It was a lovely atmosphere.

A little disappointed. Although the coffee is good. The carrot cake loaf I ordered did not taste like carrot and was quite lumpy. The establishment has two floors.

Great spot for coffee lovers! The service was friendly and efficient, and the coffee was delicious. I also tried the vegan raspberry pistachio pastry, which was excellent—flavorful and not overly sweet. The seating upstairs is a nice bonus if you want a quieter place to relax. Will definitely be back!

Always had a nice experience at both locations. Excellent coffee,sweets and you definitely gotta try the sandwiches in oost.

Edit: Don't even try to justify it, it wasn't one fly, they were all over the place. Close the door and turn on the AC, problem solved! Flies on cups patrons will drink from and you think it's fine? The entitlement is uncanny. Disgusting hygiene with flies landing on the coffee machine, milk cartons, you name it. I asked my coffee to go after seeing flies all over the ceramic cups. Check the images attached. Could be a great place with proper AC ventilation, door closed and something to zap the flies...

Went here to do some work on my laptop. They have a one hour laptop policy during weekdays and do not allow laptops on weekends. They seemed chill about enforcing this policy though as long as seating was available.

It has a cool vibe and look, kinda urban but fancy. The service was not bad but I didn’t get a welcoming feeling from the cashier when I was ordering. I personally didn’t like the taste of the coffee, a bit too bitter for me (I prefer smoother coffees) so the price of €4.50 latte wasn’t worth it.

We had a very good Flat-White and a hot chocolate with latte art, which was the first time, we had this. The stuff is extremly friendly!

This small coffee place is apparently run by some friendly mates from down under. I had a cappuccino with oat milk and it honestly was the best one I've ever had! It had a fruity taste and wasn't bitter at all. The cinnamon bun and the chocolate chip cookie are also very tasty. I'd absolutely like to come back next time I'm in town.

Let my little girl 6 years old to the toilet came out and approached me rude demanding 50 cents! Just paid it, but come on it’s a little girl where else she needs to go?? At least tell us nicely

This was an amazing cafe I stopped at as it was calm and relaxing.Also the service was quick but that could have been because there wasn’t many people.I recommend getting the choc chip cookie if you like salty things because it was the perfect amount.

Great coffee served by a friendly barista in a nice, relaxed setting! I got a very interesting espresso with nicaraguan beans and wine fermentation processing. Awesome aromatic profile in a very balanced cup.

Really nice place to nerd out about coffee with some very friendly staff and also get some amazing coffee while doing that! Really enjoyed the washed Ethiopian from the batch brew. It gave some lemon iced tea vibes and the fruit juice is really packing the vitamins sheeessh :)

Filter coffee was surprisingly great. The flat whites are hit or miss. Space is beautiful when it's sunny.

Got 2 cappucino both quite sour. Yet another place that defaults to tipping on the payment terminal. Last time I checked NL didn't belong to the US

Banana Pecan cake is on point. I'd rate the Flat white 4 out of 5. 5 stars for the latte art but only 3 for the texture and weak (single?) shot of coffee. Very pleasant and chill atmosphere

5 stars all around and usually not super busy like other cafes in the neighborhood + Super friendly staff. Vegan pastries and also get yourself a bag of beans to go!!

All seems fancy but this was the worst flat white and espresso of the last 10 years. No exaggeration. Might be the ending of their shift (15 min before closing) but that shouldn’t be a valid reason ever to present me with sewage water. I ordered a To Go & stepped into my car otherwise would’ve gone back. No second time for me.

Can’t wait to go back for that cookie with another cup of coffee!

A great coffee spot! The space is quite large (considering Amsterdam) so plenty of seating. I got a latte and a croissant. The croissant was one of the best I’ve had — flaky on the outside, fluffy inside. A nice chill place for a coffee!

If you like sour coffee, this is your place!

One of best coffee-bars in Amsterdam!

I had an unpleasant experience today at the Five Ways coffee bar. My mother came from abroad and does not speak Dutch or English, which she did not treat properly. I tried to ignore it and place our order, only to be met with an annoyed response as it was 10 minutes before closing time. What they didn't know is that I could understand them in both Dutch and English and what they said about us was discriminatory and affected me so much that I didn't have the heart to accept the coffee from them. I paid and then ordered a new coffee from the neighbors.

Worst coffee of my life. Sour, no smell. I felt sick and could not even finish it. Lost 4 euros. Never again.

I believe this is a part of a (edit: very small) chain in Amsterdam and for a chain I was very impressed and satisfied (edit: the quality makes more sense now). Service was incredible, the girls handling my order were lovely and they delivered some smooth latte art (sorry for drowning it in cacao later on). I really liked the environment. Espresso wasn’t exactly like what I’d normally go for but the cappuccino was delicious after all, and as a plus the espresso pairs really well with some cacao.

Delicious coffee, good atmosphere, very friendly staff (it still exists!) and a delicious cookie. A successful Saturday, I will definitely come back.

Great and original coffee for a good price with super nice barristas

We asked for 1 coffee to go cup and 2 coffees to drink here in the cafe, I even gave a tip, it was then put in 3 to go cups, when I indicated that 2 can be drunk here, there was no good response unfortunately, even after kindly explaining that we were going to drink coffee here twice. I won't go there again, I felt treated unpleasantly.

Five ways is five+ ways of excellent. 5 out of 5 stars all around (no pun intended) So this big cafe takes a bit of getting used to. For one the downstairs space is huge and sparsely filled with furniture, they’re literally 0 tables in the whole space. Only benches, bar stools and some seats in the annex This can make the space—which judging from the various unused vaults was probably a jewelry shop or a small bank before—feel a bit cold. It does mean that people either chat (rather than work) or only hang out to finish their coffees The non-work vibe of the space grew on us as we stayed for a while. We also noticed that the person in charge of the art and decor as well as the music set up gave the place a lot of thought. And it’s one of those rare coffee places that hasn’t gone full blown post post modern on the late art Furthermore the quality of the coffee is absolutely five ways of great! As are the various cookies, pastries and bagels (which they source from the best sourdough bagel place in town). The staff is very kind and considerate, paying attention to individual customers and generally vibing Were still not sure what the “five ways” name refers to, but this is certainly a place that allows you to get caffeinated in five ways, impress a date in five ways, blast through your calorie count in five ways, and get art inspired in five ways and bonus points for the poster in the bathroom reminding you that keeping it clean is “demure, considerate and cutesy” 5/5 stars for this place

The baristas were great and friendly. The coffee tonic that is pictured was refreshing. If you are strolling by, it is a great stop.

In short: maybe good coffee but bad service. I used to come to this place for coffee but the service is just awful. Last I came here asking for an iced coffee and the guy just assumed I wanted an iced cafe latte. When I tried to clarify what I wanted, he wouldn’t even let me finish my sentence and was so rude to me. If it’s a misunderstanding, fine but you don’t get a pass at treating someone badly and not even letting them talk. If your baristas had a hard day, please don’t take it out on your customers. Avoid this place and walk two minutes and go to Lot 61 - more reliable service and always kinder people.

Tasty speciality coffee, fun trendy baristas, nice cups and ambiance in general. One dislike - it's extremely noisy even when it's not busy. Like very very loud, and after 5 minutes felt uncomfortable.

I usually just have espresso and a croissant... I once got a cappuccino, thought I'd give it a try, but it wasn't really tasty... I will never ever have coffee with milk again... espresso is great! Croissant absolutely perfect.. atmosphere I give it a high rating.. they don't take cash but they do if you have changed the money. The staff were also nice. But I do give service low marks because when I ordered, unfortunately my order was not delivered while I was sitting next to the cash register and no one was called? I turn around and suddenly I saw that my coffee was ready? Thought to myself strange? But other than that everything went well!

Super unpleasant and arrogant stuff. They act like they are owning the world. They don't accept any cash, but there is absolutely no sign over it. Rude and non friendly place.

Great specialty coffe store with a very elegant ambiance and great service. Produce is top quality as they roast their own beans, plus they have delicious pastries too. Not only you can enjoy a delicious drink away from the hectic Ten Kate market but you can also pick your coffee beans and they will grind them to whatever size and machine you need to take home! They have vegan pastries as well.

Nothing bad to say about this place. Great location, great staff, and good coffees. They are fast and fun personalities, greeting you as you walk in even during busy times While sitting and having my coffee I saw during a slow period they were even doing a hot water rinse/cleaning the machines. During 3 days coming here. Always I got best coffee. Today was very worst and terrible experience with very rude blond girl which I don’t saw before . This girl has very bad manners. She made terrible coffee and 100% very disgusting drink , she has nothing with the name of the barista. She No tapped coffee mug, no make whisk it in one direction. Argument was that beams fresh and that’s why coffee like water . She say that she is professional , artist of coffee ) but pardon my best friend have 15 years experience of coffee making and he true barista . And I know what is good coffee! She was very aggressive, and after when I said I don’t like this , I paid money I want to get good cappuccino like last 3 days . I spend my money every day and must listen some rude employee who non stop scream that I need leave the place . Are this normally? This how you treat the customers ! All the 3 days before this character - was very kind girl , which was very cultured and try to do best for customer’s ! This fully disrespectful and very worst service which I saw in my life. This is shame !

Fantastic shop, much better coffee than Lot61 down the street. Espresso drinks are excellent, and their beans are super interesting. I got a bag of "Fruit Juice" beans and they were every bit as good as the barista's giggles when I asked if it was as interesting as it looks. Definitely a top tier shop worth a visit. Pastries are great too, unlike at most other shops.

April 2024 A nice coffee place with fast attending staff. Perfect way to start the weekend before going into town with the morning sun on their place.

nice cafe with very good coffee. i like the selection of coffee beans they offer, filter coffee was great. you have a variety of pastries to choose from, including hyped Margo’s pastries. Would be nice if they could add some savoury options. atmosphere is pleasant, one can both chill in the armchairs on the upper floor and get some work done at the tables by the windows. however, no laptops are allowed during the weekend (just beware of that). enjoyed my time there:)

The coffee was decent, homemade ice tea (they didn't not have lemonade at 1 pm) was like any ice tea. For a fairly limited offer I expected maybe a bit more. The atmosphere was less impressive - the two people tending the bar were a tad passive aggressive, almost like they're forcibly too nice, and the overall vibe of the place is that they don't want you staying there long - what little chairs and tables they have are small and very uncomfortable. I also overheard the laptop policy and the person at the bar saying they didn't want their beautiful cafe turning into a library, again, quite passive aggressive (it was however a weekday so laptops were supposedly allowed per their signs...not sure why the fuss then). Wifi was also quite bad, assumingly so not a lot of people would use it and linger. Overall, you feel kinda unwelcome here from the moment you place your order to the moment you leave. 😕

Coffee is not the best in town but location is great on the corner, spacious inside and simple yet premium interior. Bar chairs are not really comfy. Cookies are delicious.

Unreal coffee menu - 10/10 must visit!

~NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY~ When I order an oat milk latte, I am ordering it because I will literally die if I drink cow milk or someone will need to stab me with my epi-pen. So when the barista calls out “Latte” and I ask “is this with oat milk?” Because they didn’t specify, then they get snappy and say “exactly” then I will go spend my money at a different coffee bar with staff who are kind and put in just a little bit more effort to say “oatmilk latte” or are kind when I ask. Just bc you serve nice coffee in a cute little space doesn’t mean you can be rude to your customers

Easy cafe just around the corner. Two floors, just spacey to sit inside. Coffee is ok, disappointed the ham and cheese croissant are cold and can’t be warmed up.
