Unfortunately, Ganesha Amsterdam is permanently closed! One of the best Indian restaurants in Amsterdam. There is still a branch in Hilversum.

If you’re craving spicy food amidst your travels this is a good place. I went there during non busy times. Food portions were really good.

North Indian restaurant not much choice for south Indians

Amazing authentic Indian cuisine.

Whilst our stay in Amesterdam we were looking for Authentic Indian restaurant. We came across Ganesh restaurant which perfectly matched our taste buds. Amazing service and amazing food

It was a quiet evening, so I think we had the full attention of the very friendly staff who also advised us so that we did not order too much. Recommended, delicious Indian food in the heart of Amsterdam near the IJ and Central Station

Beautiful home cooked food, our hosts were helpful and attentive. Portions just right.

We went there about a month ago for Lunch which was Yummy. Every thing was fine. We have no regret of coming there for North Indian Dishes. Wish them good luck

Butter Chicken with Nan tasted very good. The person who served us was very sober. We were able to eat outside and the great thing was that there was no one else there and the street wasn't busy at all. You could therefore practically classify this restaurant as an insider tip.

Food was just ok. Insufficient salt. Bad communication. The older male serving staff was extremely rude.

The food was great, however; the staff was unfriendly to us from the moment we walked inside. Probably because we are younger adults and they assume we do not tip, even though we always do. Would not recommend as a young traveller because if judgy looks and unfriendly tone.

Its a best place to get a authentic Indian food, food was delicious and very tasty one of the staff member was very rude to us but there was a nice lady called pinky she was very polite and good .

What a cozy little place, right out of a book with the ambience and the light old Hindi music. The staff is polite. I ordered garlic and saag paneer and it was absolutely divine! The spicy kind is just the right balance of spice with crispy and soft garlic naan and perfect portion sizes.

I won’t EVER recommend this restaurant. Very average taste, quantity is also lesser than expected, and the prices were too high compared to other restaurants. When we asked them, the only words they said were “Okay.” It seems that they’re destroying the reputation of foreign Indian restaurants. Overall, it’s very bad restaurant.

Giving 4 stars because of tasty food, I just don't like the ambience,It really needs renovation, too much religious vibe though some people may like it. It is expensive given that average setup. Other Indian restaurant in that area serves delicious food with classy ambience at same price so..... Also I like to complain about raita ,it should not be too sweet but Madras Chicken Is Vow. Also less staff and please have uniform or something identifiable so people will know that they are staff.

Nice restaurant within walking distance of Amsterdam central station. I was here years ago and the food was super tasty. Pleasantly surprised that the food is still very tasty. Fast service and friendly staff. Highly recommended! We will definitely come back again!

An average Indian restaurant in Amsterdam. Comparatively expensive but taste is not up to the expectation. Can’t blame mostly all Indian restaurants in Europe has same problems. Fried rice was used same rice from the biriyani. I wanted to order a beer but atmosphere was like a temple with devotional song. So didn’t go for it. I don’t understand why a bar and restaurant playing devotional song. Very wired.

Microwaved tea, aloo pakora in place of ordered aloo tiki and old frozen deep fried samosa. This is Ganesha Indian restaurant!!

The food was absolutely tasteless... No spice no chillie and no salt( when we asked especially to make our food spicy). It was absolutely dry .. butter naan came with 0 butter and we ordered Aloo ki tikki and got Aloo banda instead. Same goes for the chickan curry ordered absolutely dry and no spices at all. They merged the tice bowl for two different curries in 1 and declined to increase the quantity when we raises its not enough. Ambience was ok ok but response of staff was pathetic... Quality and quantity both were extremely poor... And when we tried to raise concern for our food we got absolutely 0 response from the staff and when the bill was to be paid it was done in a matter of 2 mins... Over all it was wastage of time and wastage of money for us. Btw they charged 6.5€ for 1 lt water bottle ... Pathetic experience will never suggest anyone to come here

The worst restaurant I have ever been into . We were 4 people , we ordered couple of things , first of all the quantity is very less , there should be enough rice along with the main dish , but the rice quantity is way too less .. it was said for 4 people they merged it !! But for any separate order it should be separated ! If I talk about quality , there were no taste in the food , no proper salt , no proper spicy level , the naan was very dry , not enough amount of curry . And when we complaint about the things , the response we get from them is nothing , they just said we will check . What they will check for what ??? And when ?? I have been into multiple restaurant , but never wasted money like this . If you want to save your money , avoid this restaurant .

The food taste was delicious and they will serve curry with rice. The service was remarkable and the restaurant vibes are awesome, our kids enjoyed.

I was in Amsterdam for 5 days and was desperately wanting to have some indian food when I saw Ganesha Indian Restaurant. The place was very calm, playing indian music on a very low volume, Uncle ji was very humble. We ordered Raja Menu (chicken) and Rani Veg Thali, and taste of each item (Naan, chicken curry, veg curry) was amazing. We saw couple of people ( non indians) having Samosa and Chicken Tandoori and eating the food freling the taste of India, it felt very good to see people enjoying Indian food. After the bill we talked to Uncle for about 15 mins, how he settled in Amsterdam, how he managed to run this restaurant etc. I would say it is a must try restaurant for anyone wanting to eat Indian food in Amsterdam. The place is very near to the Amsterdam Centraal.

We had a delicious meal here! The Fish Pakora and Chicken Al Jefreezi are definitely recommended. A real taste of authentic India. The quality of the food is fantastic and we ate our fill. The staff is very friendly and provides good service (thanks for borrowing the reading glasses!) We will definitely come back!

Had a fantastic meal yesterday, Chicken Madras is highly recommended, full of flavor and wonderfully spicy. my wife had the Jal Ferezy which was also delicious. Good portions and friendly staff! I'll definitely return!

Nice calm atmosphere. Owners and staff were very friendly. All the food we ate was amazing. From the Lamb Bhuna and the rice to the garlic naan and prawn starter. Could not fault it. Would definitely return.

I was there with my boyfriend, the amtmosphere is really cosy. The food was delicious and the waiter all very kind and professional! (monsieur thought only that the rice wasn't enough for the butter chicken) despise that I highly recommend it🥰

Food is average. The service is not good. They will try to fraud you as much as they can. The bill too will not be a real bill, it is just a piece of paper with rates written with a pen. Not even hygienic.

Food was really good but staff is bit rude, careless and arrogant. We asked before ordering if aloo paratha was vegan, he confirmed. Later when it was served it came with butter and staff denied exchanging it too.

My wife and I recently dined at Ganesha during our holiday in Amsterdam. Delicious and high quality Indian food (Balti Chicken and Chicken Bhuna were very tasty, as was the garlic naan). Very quick and attentive service. Definitely one of the best places we ate at during our trip. Highly recommend. Many thanks to all at Ganesha restaurant. 😊

Very unhygienic restaurant, there were mosquitos everywhere around the toilets, basins, dustbins. Staff was not honest, kept misguiding the clients.

indian spices and dishes are served. shall improve hygiene, services and quality of food being served. quantity shall be reduced to avoid food waste. cost of food shall be accordingly. we had two dinner and cost was Euro 68 and did not enjoy.

Really nice atmosphere, friendly personnel and good food.

Food was tasty, and they very kindly accommodated our dietary needs. Would definitely go there again. The only slight downside was that it took a very long time, and us putting on our coats, before they brought the bill.

Amazing biryani, must have try when you are in Amsterdam

I went here yesterday was impressed by the cleanliness and decor but i was so disappointed to see chicken and other non veg items being served infront of the Lord Ganesha's idol. I think these guy should do something for this And as of food, it is okay. They give complimentary things with the dishes which is fulling amd very nice. The staff was humble polite and friendly.

Service lady was very condescending, didn’t let me finish my sentence. Felt a little bit racist, as I am of East Asian descent

We really loved this restaurant! We love Indian food, and it was delicious, served with care. They even bring a little hot plate to put your dishes on so that they stay warm. You can tell that a lot of love was put into this restaurant and is a family affair. We were welcomed warmly. The service was impeccable. And every bit of food we ordered was perfect. We travel a lot and I’ve had Indian in many cities (including Delhi and Mumbai,)This is a memorable one.

Amazing biryani. One of the best I've had period. Both the chicken and the veg biryani (which had both sweetcorn and paneer) were great. Very good portions and the spicy enough as per Indian standards.

Der Service eine Katastrophe! Unfreundlich und unaufmerksam. Die halbe Vorspeise wurde vergessen, auf Nachfrage nachgereicht aber dann ohne das Chutney womit es serviert werden sollte. Um ein zweites Getränk zu bekommen sind wir dann aufgestanden und zur Theke gegangen. Die Nachspeise wurde komplett vergessen. Lange nicht mehr so unfreundliche, desinteressierte Mitarbeiter erlebt. Was wir allerdings sagen müssen ist, das dass Essen wirklich lecker war. Schade nur das sie sich das durch den fehlenden Service komplett versauen

Being from Vancouver with a very large Indian population, we know Indian food … so believe me when I say, this restaurant has excellent, authentic food. If you enjoy Indian cuisine and are in Amsterdam, you must try this place!

Food took very long to come. Mushroom rice were over salted, gobi aloo under-salted, and makhani daal was unbearably spicy. I talked to the waiter, and he brought the lightly spiced makhani daal, which is normal for this mild-tasting, buttery-rich daal. Butter naan, chicken tikka masala, and tandoori roti were delicious.

Massively underrated restaurant. Owners are lovely and the food is amazing. Simple set-up and worth every cent!

Really tasty food. The chana dal was the best dal I've had in my life, which is really kind of amazing. Medium spicy was a lot spicier than I expected, but that's likely because I'm a tourist

The whole staff seemed annoyed and carried no smiles. They seemed just bothered to have you there. It proved difficult to ask for help as they showed little care or awareness to the needs of the guests. Chicken was bland with an odd taste and they held back on the sauce. It is way overpriced for what you get. I would steer away from this place!

To say this was phenomenal would be a massive understatement. Given the location and exterior I thought this would be a tourist trap. But to my surprise this was an incredibly authentic restaurant, half the diners were native Indian speakers. The curry was out of this world. It was clearly made from scratch and very fresh and included some very special greens (not the typical special greens found in Amsterdam haha). Really exquisite food. The one downside would be that the servers are a bit rude and not veery friendly or super attentive, however the owner is very sweet he just needs to hire some new staff. Go here for some authentic Indian food! (By the way the lamb is incredibly fresh and tender would highly reccomend getting it in the Masalla sauce. Cheers😎😎
