We had a wonderful experience at Café De Kade. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, and the place feels very welcoming. The staff were genuinely kind, attentive, and made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. Everything was well taken care of, and you can really feel the positive vibe of the café. We truly enjoyed our time here and will definitely come back. Highly recommended.

Visit on September 5th. Coffee was inedible, knife blunt, bread roll impossible to cut. No butter was used or requested. Complained to an uninterested female employee. I ended up spending 36 euros. Never again.

If I'd read the reviews beforehand, I never would have sat here. It's a pleasant-looking terrace, but it takes 20 minutes to even get a drink. I ordered two small side dishes, and after over 40 minutes, still nothing. The waitress then told me nothing could be ordered from the kitchen, but they were working on it anyway. (They also removed the menus from the table.) We waited another 20 minutes. So, you wait an hour for a few pieces of baguette with dip and some (microwave) meatballs! Sorry, the location is nice and cozy, but as for the service, you'd be better off finding a different terrace, which is what we did.

It's a cozy place to sit. However, it takes an incredibly long time to get your order, and there are very few staff members around taking orders.

De Kade should be so much better than it is. On a relatively quiet Saturday afternoon we popped in for a beer and a snack, as we had a dining event on with friends later the same evening. The canal side setting is lively and the food is fine IF you want stodge. Lots of oversized portions of chips, bread, cheese, bitterballs and such like but I’m afraid that I always prefer quality over quantity - and the former was somewhat lacking. What was also lacking was a large beer! What on earth has happened to the world when you order a medium beer and get a 250ml glass? I mean what can a small beer be? And then, when I order a large beer, it’s STILL only 500ml - and it’s 8 euros! Give me a British pint (568ml) any day of the week, or even better, as they do in Asia, rock up with a 650ml bottle offering - Chang, Lao, Kingfisher, Tsingtao, Singha. Come on de Kade, there’s plenty of options - be braver! The service was also pretty poor, the place was only a third full on the day, but the staff on duty clearly had their minds elsewhere. Probably dreaming about one day serving their customers a beer in a stein (yes, that’s a full 1000ml or a litre if you prefer) and hey, they’d not have far to go, Germany is after all, a mere 45km away….

Update 2025 😊: We had another great meal. The spicy chicken BLT for only €12 is highly recommended! Be sure to ask for a good knife. We, as well as the tables around us, had trouble cutting through the bread. Luckily, we were given good knives when we asked. 2021 - Delicious food, nice seating by the water, fast service, and ordering and paying via the QR code on the table is very convenient.

I ordered a medium rare beef brisket. The amount of food was not much, but the attitude of the waiter was very good, especially the DJ who served us. He was a new waiter in the restaurant and always actively paid attention to our needs. For this reason, I specially wrote a good review.

Truly the dumbest catering establishment I have been to in a long time. Staff has no commercial/catering insight at all. Orders take too long, everything is unclear and the staff is unfriendly. Especially the “chubby” young lady at the counter.

We had a nice meal, but we occasionally had to look for the staff (who were hanging over the bar). At 9 pm we ordered another dessert and that was not possible because "the kitchen was gone" (?!) And we were definitely not the last...

1 star for the service is still too much. It is that it has a nice location, but other than that there is little positive to say about this tent and the staff. We fully understand the crowds on a sunny day, but the staff is not approachable and is then chatting with friends. After waiting half an hour and having already spoken to several waiters, we were able to order once. Then we waited another 20 minutes to order round 2, when we asked the waitress 'could we order', we got 'no' as an answer and then she walked on. Really rude and unfriendly staff, I would recommend you sit somewhere else.

We sat down by the canal. It then took quite a while before they came to take our order. We then waited for an HOUR. Then we spoke to someone and he just said “hi”. Fifteen minutes later I went inside to say that we had been waiting a very long time. Ultimately, we walked away after more than an hour without receiving anything.

Unfriendly staff will not come to you if you raise your hand after 45 minutes. Hide behind a pillar himself. Seeing that you raise your hand, you still go to the entire other terrace to take their order first. We sat in the front.

Gastrobar de kade is located on the Helmond canal. It was a weekday evening and it was quiet. Nice menu, large portions

Very nicely furnished and decorated restaurant, right on the canal, including an outdoor terrace. The staff was consistently very friendly, helpful, hard-working and attentive. The time from ordering the food to serving it was less than 20 minutes. We spontaneously visited the restaurant on a Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. and shared three different side dishes between the two of us. In terms of quantity, the 3 side dishes were absolutely more than sufficient and, in particular, the portion of truffle fries was very large, so that it can also be counted as a main course (price-performance-quantity ratio is absolutely top!), so we even had that We still got the rest packed up for home. All in all, the food we ordered was nothing extraordinary, but it was tasty and fresh. Unfortunately, the consistency of the fried shrimp baked in batter wasn't particularly good, as the consistency was very 'floury', almost mushy and there was pretty much nothing left of the actual consistency. The shrimp's own taste could no longer be tasted due to the very rich and flavorful, but very tasty breading, so that instead of the shrimp, almost everything else could have been 'hidden' in the breading and 'camouflaged' it as shrimp which is a real shame, because the combination of the delicious, but then thinner breading and a fresh shrimp would have been really very good and would have tasted great. The 3rd side dish 'bread including 3 different dips and butter' was also great. The only thing I can complain about is that the butter wasn't served in the same serving bowl with the 3 other dips, but simply one small, pre-packaged butter, as is often offered at the breakfast buffet in hotels. In the end, this is really complaining on a high level, but it would have been visually more attractive and nice if all the dips had been served at the same time. However, all in all it's really good value for money, especially when the direct location on the canal is taken into account. The menu is manageable, but you have to pay attention to the fact that there are different divisions or categories and that some dishes can only be ordered UNTIL 4 p.m., others ONLY after/from 4:30 p.m. and a few throughout the day. When which category can be ordered is stated in the menu directly next to the respective category. Only the arrangement of the categories doesn't make sense according to the time until or from when which category can be ordered, but the categories are arranged wildly, so you really have to pay a little more attention when choosing a dish.

We entered this bar and it turned out to be not very gastro. The atmosphere is very nice, the design of the interior is astonishing. The staff was polite. We ordered a mixed plate with 25 pieces. Unfortunately and sadly, we got a bowl of these snacks with two cups of the same sauce on top of the snacks, served on the table. There were no napkins, cutlery or plates. We had to ask the staff for this. Not really great service. As far as the food goes, it was ok.

Food was good. But the sandwiches could not be cut even with 3 different knives. Just leave this one alone.

Ate here at Christmas with 4 people, it is not cheap but the price quality is very good, in a word great, the service was smooth and correct, the food was well above expectations, very nice and surprisingly new dishes and everything tasted very good, young waiting staff but they know what needs to be done, if we are in the area we would like to come for a bite to eat again, keep it up

Leuk gelegen restaurant / lunchroom. Gezellig zitten bij het water. Vriendelijke bediening. Goede koffie en heerlijk broodje picante kip. Zeker bezoek waard.

Wat een gezellige avond moest worden met een drankje en hapje liep even heel anders. Bediening absoluut niet vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Drinken bestellen duurde erg lang vervolgens maar aan de bar gevraagd of wij drinken mochten bestellen. Na lange tijd wachten kwam er iemand aan. Een tweede keer bestellen of tafel afruimen was er niet bij.

Even though it was not overly busy, the service was very poor. After ordering a starter and main course, the soup arrived which was not really warm. So we quickly finished this. It then took more than 45 minutes before our table was cleared and the main course was brought. 1 dish was wrong. Then we had to wait a long time again for 1 person in our party of 3. Please indicate your disappointment on the bill, no apologies and only 2 mints to finish. Shame about the unprofessional behavior. It is a nice location. The last time for us for a while.

Very bad food. Not served what was on the menu for 1 person. For the other, a rare steak instead of medium. Once This was noticed, the staff did not go further than offering a drink. At the next table everything went wrong from the kitchen. Staff had a few children who didn't know what to do with it. Strongly discouraged.

Went here on the recommendation of friends. The atmosphere is cozy, but that was not due to the staff. They simply forgot my order. Then my wife and daughter ordered at the same time, but only my wife's order came almost immediately. Which by the way was not really tasty, way too many spices. Dessert ordered by friends of ours, for their daughter who also arrived almost immediately. When I asked where my food and that of my daughter was, it turned out that they had forgotten it. And whether we still wanted to order... No, never mind... Don't wait for another 45 minutes. We certainly won't be back. Very unfriendly staff. Even had to wait for the bill. Terrible experience. So I can't recommend this one.

Nice location in Helmond that is occupied by a very mediocre organization. Staff is friendly but incompetent. Waiting half an hour for food, after 10 minutes no cutlery so the food was cold. Management apparently has to ask for everything before it can act itself. Food is fine, sauce masks a lot. The location lures us, but the atmosphere and service will immediately make you regret it. Waitress drops food, which can happen, but then you have to wait half an hour before you get the dish. The staff who run it really do their best. behind the scenes things are better arranged

Leuke en gezellige locatie. Bediening is aardig, maar mag werken aan het beter in de gaten houden van de tafels. We moesten letterlijk opstaan om te vragen of we eten konden bestellen. Het eten was ok. Vlees overigens heerlijk. De los erbij geserveerde frietjes kwamen helaas later en waren van droevige kwaliteit. Veel harde kleine stukjes, alsof het de laatste restjes waren uit een hele grote zak.

Bad service, uncomfortable experience Just sat here on the terrace for half an hour without being helped once. The people next to us were served several times, while my friend and I specifically approached the server to order something. The server didn't speak Dutch, which isn't a problem in itself, but he promised to send someone. Fifteen minutes later there was still no one to take our order. We hadden om 18.30 gereserveerd en kregen om 20.15 ons eerste gerecht. Aangegeven dat er een van ons een soja allergie heeft en toch serveren ze soja en nadat we het nogmaals gevraagd hadden, gaven ze aan dat ze het door hadden gegeven aan de kok dus ging ze ervan uit dat er geen soja in zat. Wel dus en was er een van ons behoorlijk ziek geworden. Eten was verder lekker en heb alle begrip voor personeelstekorten of jong personeel maar als alle andere gasten al gegeten hadden en wij er eerder waren maar pas na 1.45 uur ons eerste gerecht kregen zonder een sorry of eerlijk toe te geven dat je ons bent vergeten.. krijg je van mij maar 2 sterren. Door het lange wachten en frustraties kan dat ons avondje uit met vrienden Behoorlijk verpesten!

Had a bite to eat at De Kade for the first time. There was little to criticize about the dishes, apart from the fries, which were too lukewarm immediately after serving. The service, on the other hand, was terrible. Few occupied tables, but nevertheless no overview or structure. Always going to a table with two people to serve is anything but efficient. Everything took forever: from clearing the table to paying. Too bad, because that puts a stamp on the overall experience.

'De Kade' is always a nice gastrobar for a nice meal and drink. Even our dog was spoiled with cookies and a nice glass of water. Top!

Once again a delicious meal in a nice atmosphere with friendly service. We come here at least a few times a month.

Zelf moeten vragen of de bestelling werd opgenomen, zaten al ruim een half uur te wachten nadat we ons drinken hadden gekregen. Menukaarten bleven liggen. Eten was er vrij snel, niks over op te merken, ze waren alleen aangevraagde saus vergeten. Kwamen vragen hoe het smaakte nadat we het al bijna op hadden. Nadat we nog een keer drinken vroegen, bleven de oude glazen staan. Conclusie, moesten zelf overal achter aan. Eten was verder wel lekker

A tasty and cozy café on the beautiful canal of Helmond. The dishes were a bit cold and salty here and there. This made it just a little less. The atmosphere and service were good.

Visited this place for some lunch. The steak sandwich itself was fine, although the tenderloin tips could have been warmer. The service was downright bad. Although not too busy, there was little to no attention for our table, we had to wait a long time or were even forgotten and the friendliness and hospitality were also disappointing. We felt more like a burden than a guest. Not recommended.

The cafe is nice and cozy located right beside the canal. I went for evening snacks and drinks together with some friends. I tried the veg nachos which were delicious, would have liked it better if they were served on a flatter dish rather than a bowl but nevertheless it was good. The rest of the food was also good, price and service is totally justifiable and the good view and ambiance is definitely something that I’d go again for.

Om 19.00 uur gaan zitten, we kregen na 30 minuten de kaart en drinken, om 20.30 het voorafje gekregen, om 21.30 uurde warme maaltijd, deze was lauw, en 1 maaltijd was inco pleit, meteen gemeld en ze zouden het herstellen, maar na 15 minuten geen maaltijd, de serveerster vertelde dat de kok al naar huis is, dus helaas. Als alternatief kreeg hij gratis een hamburger met warme frietjes en een biertje gratis. Al met al lang gezeten voor een lauwe maaltijd. Excuses van de serveerster maar ze hebben een fors personeelstekort, als je geen kwaliteit kan leveren ga dan niet open of ga voor de helft open maar niet zo. Personeel liep de benen uit de kant, zielig voor hen. Dus management, doe hier iets aan.

An experience bordering on the surreal. Never in my life have I been treated so badly. When the first waitress understood that we preferred to speak English, she called another colleague who in theory would have been able to serve us. She told us that we had to make do with the application because she was busy while everyone else was calmly taking reservations. In the time that she treated us badly she could have easily taken the order but instead she preferred to be rude to the point of making us leave. Crazy, something like this has never happened. The staff at this place are unspeakable! Stay away as much as you can. Luckily we then found a place in a delightful restaurant under the main church where we ate very well and were treated very well by competent staff. How sad!

Prima keuze om een hapje te eten in de stad. Mooie locatie aan het water, redelijk veel ruimte. Je kunt binnen zitten, in de serre of op het terras bij geschikt weer. De kaart is eenvoudig en dat is prima. Er is voldoende keuze in vlees, vis en vega en de prijzen zijn gemiddeld. Porties van de gerechten zijn dik in orde. Wij namen een classic burger en die smaakte heerlijk. Goed belegd met verse groenten, frietjes erbij en er werd goed met onze dieetwensen rekening gehouden. Personeel was erg vriendelijk en efficiënt.

Altijd geweldig om hier te zijn! Ondanks dat de kaart een stuk kleiner is moeten worden door bezuinigingen is er nog steeds genoeg lekkers te vinden. Het personeel is vriendelijk en zal altijd zijn best doen. Natuurlijk is het tijdens de drukke dagen soms wat langer wachten, corona heeft er voor gezorgd dat het moeilijk is om aan horeca personeel te komen, maar al met al een leuke sfeer. Vooral met Koningsnacht en kasteeltuin feesten is het hier reuze gezellig. Kom snel een drankje en een hapje doen bij de Kade!

Matige service tegen het einde van de avond. Gedeelte van het personeel spreekt geen Nederlands maar matig Engels.

Heerlijk eten en lekker geluncht. Lekker aan het water gezeten. Aanrader. Wel erg jammer dat ik om een pleister vroeg voor mn vader die had net zn teen tot bloedens gestoten aan het randje van het terras, er nogal snibbig werd aangegeven door de dame dat ze geen pleister hadden (beetje vreemd.. ik neem aan dat ehbo trommel een vereiste is in een keuken). Ander personeel was wel vriendelijk.

Je kan er echt goed eten, Verwacht geen grote uitgebreide kaart maar wat ze hebben heeft goede smaak. Heerlijk buiten aan het water genieten van je gerechten.

Ik ben deze keer wel wat minder tevreden. Hoewel ik bij De Kade eerder enkel malen prima heb gegeten, vond ik het deze keer matig. De kaart is erg beperkt geworden. Als je een normale avondmaaltijd wilt gebruiken, is er simpelweg veel te weinig keuze. Hoofdgerechten zijn beperkt tot keuze uit twee burgers, een varkenshaas, ravioli en een souvlaki. De Kade is tegenwoordig eigenlijk geen restaurant meer, maar meer een café waar je iets kunt eten.

De Nachos van vandaag waren heeeeel anders dan de nachos van paar maanden geleden. En dan 15 euros voor betaald! Bestel hier geen nachos !

Bestellen via qr code en ook al vooraf betalen, is al wat vreemd en onpersoonlijk. Dan word er al gevraagd hoeveel fooi je wil geven terwijl je nog niemand gezien hebt, beetje brutaal.. Het eten kwam veel later dan ons drinken en toen was ineens de qr code op slot dus kon er geen drinken meer besteld worden bij het eten. maarja het bier was toch lauw en de friet had ongeveer dezelfde temperatuur. De hamburger veel te rauw. Bestek kregen we niet, zelf maar gehaald. Wat een aanfluiting voor zo'n leuke lokatie, erg jammer

De 1e keer dat een vriendin en ik hier een hapje gingen eten. Vriendelijk personeel, lekker eten, leuke sfeer.

De kok heeft meer ego als talent...dure sirloinsteek van ruim 32,-..lauw...en een tonijnsteak...koelkast koud en dan overe de ruggen van jonge serveerstertjes afdoen als een of andere sushi tonijn...laf en onprofessioneel...smaak goed maar temperatuur een aanfluiting

Gezellige tent aan de kade van het kanaal, heerlijke lunchplank besteld met soepje, gefrituurde kipkrokant, markreelsalade,carpaccio van zalm en rund en diverse broodsoorten.

Wij hadden toch een andere definitie van bittergarnituur.. Meestal zit er toch wel een kaassoufflétje hier en een bamischijfje daar, vooral wanneer je nadrukkelijk bij de opmerking hebt gevraagd "Zouden er wat vegetarische snacks bij kunnen?". Wanneer je dit als "gastvrije" horecatent niet hebt, verwacht ik wel dat dit vantevoren even vermeld wordt, want anders hadden wij de bittergarnituur natuurlijk niet gekozen. Bij Gastrobar de Kade krijg je namelijk wanneer je een bittergarnituur voor €9,20 besteld een mix van frikandel, bitterballen en kip. Jammer. Daarnaast is het personeel vluchtig en lijken ze geen aandacht voor je te hebben.

Heerlijk gegeten met kerst, ook met kids er bij! Wij komen zeker terug.

Great! Food is good and the staff is nice. This is one of the very few places in Helmond where the staff is very kind and customer oriented. Very important to say IN THIS PLACE THEY ACCEPT OUR LITTLE DOG!!!!!! They always bring him water and some dogs cookies :) no other place in Helmond ever accepted him🥰🥰 we love this place!! It is also very Cousy and warm!! Thanks to all the staff and to the lady that owns/ manages it!!
