Went to Gewoon Gouds for the first time. It's a really great place, both inside and out, cozy atmosphere, good food, and fast service. A great place for lunch or dinner.

Even in winter, it's very warm, pleasant, and cozy outside.

Restaurant is located in the town main square. Place was crowded. Both indoor and outdoor. It was a bit chilly as some of the heaters were not working. You have to try the cheese soup to add to your meal.

A very friendly welcome. The servers were attentive and very welcoming. The food was fresh and good, even the next meal, since we took a doggy bag home, was very generous. Excellent value for money.

The cheese soup and cheese soufflé were very good. That's what we came for. The service was fast and friendly. But not 5 stars because the vegetables that came with the cheese soufflé were really bad. The carrot was super hard, the radish was disgusting, and I can't even tell what the green thing was. I would definitely come back because the cheese was truly delicious.

We had a fantastic evening at the opening party. Super fun music, delicious drinks, and fantastic snacks. That's what Gouda needs. Congratulations, Robbert, together with your wife and all the staff, you gave Gouda a fantastic evening.

We went for dinner with some colleagues. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was very good. They've recently changed the menu. As is typical in the Netherlands, we had to wait quite a while for our food, but I still recommend it. The dessert was huge, and while it was expensive, it was worth it.

Poor service, the whole table was covered in glasses. We were given new drinks and then they simply didn't bring them back! The wrong order was served. You'd be better off going to Gouds glass and sitting on a terrace! They looked at you like you were crazy.

The eight of us had a great meal, and the service was friendly. Afterwards, they called because they'd accidentally charged the menu price, even though the individual dishes were cheaper because we didn't have desserts. We were very polite about giving them a refund.

The atmosphere is very pleasant, but the food, on the other hand, is simply terrible. We ordered a pancake, which you could have squeezed dry because it was fried in so much oil. It was crispy and tasted strange, not pancake-like. We also had a club sandwich, which you'd expect to have fried chicken breast, but it had two slices of chicken breast (cold cuts) on it. A mountain of cucumber and lettuce, and that's it. We found it very disappointing.

We sat outside, which is very nice because the chairs have heated cushions. We were there with our dog, which wasn't a problem. The food was delicious and plentiful. I had Gouda soup, which was served in a not-so-clean bowl. There were still remnants of tomato soup in it, which I only noticed later. What wasn't so nice, but the restaurant can't blame it, was that there were pigeons running around everywhere, and they tried their best to chase them away, but it didn't work very well.

Went back after a year. Heard they had new eggs. Wow, the atmosphere has improved and it's gotten better. The menu has changed, and the upstairs and downstairs are very atmospheric. Delicious food and great staff.

Atmosphere is always good on the square. Unfortunately food not good. Had ordered Caesar salad and the chicken was really much too dry and tasteless the egg was much too hard boiled. Egg yolk was just green!

ordered Caesar salad, it came without the egg even though it is in the menu.. the chicken in the salad was chicken nuggets.. no way to eat anything here without being fried or with bread..

Very pleasant restaurant, pleasant service, but the food cannot be evaluated after 45 minutes of waiting in a half-empty restaurant, we canceled the order (the staff forgot to create an order in the kitchen).

A great restaurant with an incredibly wide range of food and beer. There is always enough space for everyone interested in refreshments or strengthening. The food is excellently prepared and the portions are huge! Especially the ribs - Spareribs - surprise with quantity and quality - it's food for the whole evening! And it is definitely worth your time to fully enjoy this wonderful dish. Wheat beer is a good guide and pink amstel is a good digestive. The overall well-being is enhanced by heated pads on the chairs and a beautiful view of the square.

Good service. I tried the Ambachtelijke bitterballen as a snack. Really good. It was a perfect day for a beer and a snack outside.

Delicious food today and very friendly service. It was very busy so it took a little longer for the food to arrive. This was reported in advance and it still went fairly smoothly. The food was super tasty and we had a very enjoyable meal. We have been here 3 times now and every time the food was delicious and the service was super friendly. Highly recommended! Delicious meal on the terrace. Almost everything on the menu contains delicious Gouda cheese. The cheese soup is highly recommended! Also an extensive drinks menu.

Nice and friendly staff, fast service. What also makes it very nice is that when you indicate a gluten allergy, your lunch is properly adjusted. Delicious fresh and warm gluten-free pistolet, highly recommended.

We have come to Gouda to visit and after passing through some restaurants that had not convinced us and we have arrived here and it has been a great surprise. The food was very good, the service was also good and the best of all is that we had no problems because our dog was with us.

The best Gouda cheese soup in the city.

Had a delicious meal with a group of 16 people. That's always a challenge, but the team handled it well. My spareribs were overcooked, but everyone got their food served hot at the same time. So I take that for granted, but I can't recommend the spare ribs with a large group. The schnitzels, children's pizzas, satay and fish were all well received.

Tasty drinks and appetizers, it took a bit long for the order to arrive but that doesn't matter. Nice heated cushions on the terrace.

What a tent. Here they do their best to give you a good time. Falling trays. Stumbling guests. Tipsy howler monkeys with their makeup barbies. And heated seats. Quite busy when we were there. Still, we received our food within 20 minutes. Thumbs up.

Been waiting for my lunch for 2 hours

Nice Cafe on the main square of Gouda. We got some hot chocolate and tried their daily pie (which was lemon merengue that day). The service was very sweet & friendly, creating a great atmosphere. Prices for a main square cafe were also very fair! Definitely check them out.

I like coming to Simply Gouds, but today, Saturday December 21, things didn't go well. It was busy and the staff and kitchen were out of control. Waited an hour and a half for the food. And when it came the burgers and fries were completely cold. Staff friendly but not very skilled. Too bad this time, but we will come again. And then it will probably be better.

Nice restaurant with nice staff. For main course you can choose from 4 dishes. The spare ribs with sweet sauce was tasty. You get wet wipes to clean your hands. The toilet was clean. There is also an opportunity to sit upstairs. And in front of the restaurant there is a large terrace with patio heating on the market near the town hall.

Nice meal. The cheapest lunch dish is €12.95. We shared it between the two of us, like 0.75 liters of sparkling water for €5.20. They brought the second set of cutlery without complaint. Fact: the two restaurants next to each other, for example, take turns closing on Mondays and then lend their terraces to each other. So don't be surprised if next time you sit on the same terrace but suddenly get a different menu. The toilets are upstairs, but the hot air hand dryer is broken and there is no alternative.

The food was quite ok, but certainly not in terms of price/quality. We waited more than 40 minutes for the food and the service showed no initiative. Not recommended anymore.

Cheese soup was good, but spare ribs are on the menu as "unparalleled for 15 years", I don't know in what respect, but that can be taken off because they were far from tender. I also saw a complaint about this 3 months ago, I hope the kitchen does something about it. There was also a lot of meat. Service was super nice!

I had hoped for a better piece of meat when I ordered the spare ribs. You certainly get enough for the money, but I would have preferred two good pieces of meat with a nice piece of fresh lettuce. Instead I got three pieces of meat that were really stuck to the bone and a handful of lettuce that has been on the kitchen shelf since yesterday. Too bad about the quality, otherwise we would have stayed for some extra drinks and dessert.

We had a wonderful time there. The cheese soup is highly recommended. We just got there earlier than the reservation and were turned away. This way you miss out on income. We could also have ordered a cup of coffee or something like that. That was actually the only downside. Rest was fine.

Very good restaurant on the central square! Few choices on the menu but diverse! Carpaccio as a very good starter with Gouda shavings. Both dishes (sea bass fillet and chicken with peanut sauce) were perfect. The only downside is the frozen fries, but good. The tiramisu for dessert was also very good. Ate here with a deal, and it exceeded expectations. We often temper expectations, but here we were positively surprised. Terrace was almost full, unfortunately there was smoking outside so we sat inside (which made a difference in fresh air and noise from the other guests). Carpaccio starter, tasted good. Could have used a little more dressing, and arugula instead of a few tufts of regular lettuce. The Wienerschnitzel and steak with fries (and delicious vegetables) were very good (approx. 23 Euro) and afterwards a large dessert with ice cream and fruit (strawberries and banana). We returned home very satisfied with a good feeling, a full belly and a delicious meal. Please note that there is paid parking on the canal.

Had a cheese soup and an egg roll. I will definitely go back for the cheese soup because it was perfect. We sat on the terrace, but there were many tables close together.

Delicious food, the pepper sauce was quite peppery, I can imagine that there are people who don't like that. Delicious tender steak and the cheese fondue as a starter couldn't be better.

Nice service and the food was tasty and good. And what is also nice is that you can put together a 3-course menu from the menu for only 25 euros. So definitely worth eating here. May 3, 2024 again. Was great again. Price has increased a bit to 36 euros, but still worth it and highly recommended.

An excellent place to drink or eat something

We were here two months ago. Liefmans beer is tasty. The waiters are friendly. It was nice to have a heater outside. Even though the weather was cold, we could sit outside for hours with our 4 year old daughter.

Had a coffee and cake here via Social Deal. The waitress didn't really feel like mentioning which cake was available. Fortunately, the coffee and pastries tasted great, but you shouldn't come here for the friendly service.

On April 5 we had a concert in the Sint Jan, despite the crowds it was really done perfectly!! We even come from the catering industry (I was born there myself) no stress at all, friendly service (different) just good communication, food was delicious good and a lot for a social deal, drinks were good and served quickly, in short, if we come that way again, we will definitely come back!! And thanks again that we were able to get to the concert on time and relaxed!!
