Swing Gouda in Binnenstad

In the evening, security asks English-speaking people who want to get in for a "membership", but there is no such thing and after a long conversation I heard "Dutch only" from a black guy. I do not recommend it.

It was nice place but since few weeks when we come with friends weekend evening we can not enter the bar as " membership " is required. After security guard explained only Dutch people can enter the bar ! Never again spend money in this racist place.

I went here for dinner with a friend. The atmosphere was good and the service very friendly. However, we both got food poisoning afterward.

Very nice bar ! It has great food and the live music is great because they take song requests. Would recommend coming here again !

Very good food with generous portions at reasonable prices. I ordered a wrap (to my surprise, it wasn't wrapped, but it was very good) and cheese soup, which was really cheesy 😊 The atmosphere and live music were a plus. The service was also friendly and helpful. I recommend it!

Charming restaurant and a lovely terrace with delicious drinks on the menu! Lots of selection, including tasty specialty beers and a wide variety of sangria flavors. The pornstar sangria was truly delicious! The staff is also very friendly, cheerful, and helpful! Unfortunately, I'm less enthusiastic about the food; we both had the smash burger, and it was absolutely awful! The burgers are dry and rubbery in texture... Such a shame. The Bueno cheesecake is highly recommended, though!

You don't come here for the food, but for the cozy terrace and the delicious cocktails/mocktails.

Bad service! We asked why the poached eggs were cold and the guy looked at us as if we were stupid people and said that's how we do poached eggs! He was very arrogant and rude. When I went inside to talk with him, he said that I'm not allowed to be inside, I need to be outside. Never again.

Well located on the square. Great welcome, very friendly staff. We had fish and chips and a burger. We ate well, it was very good.

A restaurant with a large terrace located on Gouda's main square. While the food isn't top-notch (you can tell the produce might be industrially sourced—a shame, especially for the cheese in this city), the portions are quite generous. The service is also excellent, with staff happy to be there!

Food was terrible for the price. The chicken tasted really weird almost like fish. The tacos, horrible. The swing steak not good and almost welldone while I ordered rare. The only thing that was still somewhat tasty was the lettuce. First restaurant in a very long time where I regret eating there. My friends thought so too.

On 28-06-2025 at 23:30 I went to Swing Gouda with the intention of having a drink on the terrace. To my surprise I was refused by the security guard, with his own explanation "I don't know you" and "if I'm at the door, you are not allowed to go to the terrace or be and if I'm not you are allowed in, if I come take your cookie and leave" I am a Dutch citizen, I behaved properly, and I was often with you with my friends, I was not involved in any incidents in your business, I also saw that other people were allowed in without any problems.

The atmosphere and the service is very good, Friday and Saturday evening there is live music 🎶 and that's very entertaining

Swing al talloze keren bezocht,vaak op terras met mooi weer leuk uitzicht op prachtige stadhuis van Gouda. In de winter onder de heaters. Ook het genoegen gehad mijn pensionering afscheid hier te vieren met heel veel collega’s. Altijd is het personeel vlug,vlot en vrolijk voor je aan de gang. Nu willen we eens de keuken complimenteren voor de met veel fantasie opgemaakte appeltaart die wij bestelden,helemaal top.(zie foto) Swing kunnen wij aan iedereen aanbevelen.

Very nice place from outside and inside, unfortunately the tosti, croquette and uitmijter that we ordered were all cold. We reported this to the staff, but nothing was done about it.

Service is really great and the staff is super nice and also very cozy. The atmosphere on the terrace and inside is also really cozy. This was my first time in Gouda and I will definitely go here again! The food and drinks were also very tasty.

At Swing you can enjoy a tasty dinner, lunch or drinks for an affordable price. It has a nice interior and the employees are always helpful and think along with you if you have a question. Employees also have appropriate humor and are friendly. They also have live music on weekends and later in the evening there is also a DJ and you can try a dance. For the toilets you have to go up a flight of stairs, which is a bit less nice if you are less mobile. But the toilets are clean and paid in the evening!

Service and atmosphere were good. Unfortunately the food was by far the worst we had in all of Amsterdam on our vacation. For example The bacon was raw on my wife’s sandwhich. they offered to cook it more upon request but attempt 2 came back entirely black and charred to dust.

Busy and warm Saturday in Gouda but a nice spot on the Swing terrace. Half sun, half shade. Friendly staff who immediately fetched a bowl of water for the dog (great!!). Smooth service and delicious food. This day the Avocado Smash was topped with delicious white asparagus. Prices for lunch and drinks are quite reasonable.

Refuse me because I have a beard and belong to a group of Moroccans. It's really sad that you refuse Moroccans because you think that if things go wrong you won't be able to handle it. You should hire good security guards who can really make boys listen. Not a 1.60 dwarf. Bag of a tent if you want a nice evening safely with your wife, perhaps not here. The same rejected boys usually come in here. This means that they accept the risk of danger on days when it is a bit quieter.

6 euros for breakfast including tea and nice service. Only recommended.

The place is very nice for a weekend away, but it is also a great place to stay during the week.

Pretty nice atmosphere, located on the square. Swing Burger was just awful, very dry, served almost disassembled, the cutlet tasted raw, unripe tomatoes, mac and cheese doesn’t fit this burger at all.

Good food for a great price. And there's also some nice entertainment during the meal. I definitely recommend eating here during the piano show. Unfortunately, we sometimes had empty glasses for a while, and they even left our glasses there when they brought us new drinks.

Had drinks at Swing with the kids. The service was incredibly friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, and they created a wonderful atmosphere with great enthusiasm. When I asked about the beers on tap, the staff immediately suggested a free sample. They also had a delicious snack platter. Very service-oriented. The atmosphere is vibrant, cozy, and attentive. Highly recommended.

I love this place! Every time I go to Gouda, I always come back. The food is great. I usually get the special, which includes cheese soup, a small salad, and two slices of bread with cheese and a croquette. Highly recommended.

You experience sticking to the floor from the party night before. Toilets were clean and you can charge phones in a safe in front of the toilets, but it is defective.

Wonderful place for young and old, something for everyone!

I don’t write reviews very often but due to the experience we had there I felt compelled to make an exception. We visited the place with 5 people , the light should have come on when I went to the upstairs toilet . It was dirty, stank and the floor was sticky ( a dead giveaway that things are not great ) Service we had except for one person was pretty poor , they seemed more interested in getting their custom order of red bulls delivered while they were working ( weirdest thing ever) than taking care of their clients . Let’s get to the heart of my review, the food, It was truly one of the worst experiences ever and so bad we left most of our food on the table. The staff must be used to this because no one ever asked how our meal was and did not question why 75% of the meals made their way back to the trashcan. Fried finger foods were ok . Swingburger : well ,that thing needs to swing in the direction of going to the history books . An overcooked hamburger with bucket lettuce, horrible salty bacon ( if you can call It that) one tomato slice on it. God knows which person decided to top it off with mac and cheese sauce but it is pretty much inedible and please avoid it like the plague. Hard shell tacos with avocado: After one bite we could not go any further , I don’t know what’s in the avocado mush that they serve in it but it’s as close to avocado as planet mercury is to earth. As far as ever recommending it to anyone it lands in the avoid like the plague department also . The bill was close to 200 euros which made the experience even more painful. Please do something about your hygiene and the menu, no one likes disgusting bathrooms and it makes you wonder what the hygiene in kitchen looks like. Cooking a decent burger and taco is about as basic as it comes , if you can’t even create something that simple you probably have no business doing it .

Nice location in the middle of the center. Service and menu are very good, only a pity that smoking is allowed on the outside terrace (although the ashtrays are not directly on the table). Eating and smoking is not a combination on a terrace!

Great for a drink and a snack. Stay away from the menu. Swingburger with rancid macaroni, nasty cheese, half a head of iceberg lettuce and a mega salty mountain of bacon on top. Pulled chicken taco with a "worst ever" guacamole that was really inedible. Who is that in the kitchen?? And then almost 190 euros to pay for 5 people We may be old-fashioned, but not asking if everything is to your liking when more than half is left on the plate and using terms like "great" with your customers is really not acceptable. Another tip, clean the toilets and fix the taps on the sinks.

Surprised here last Saturday for my birthday. What a super nice cozy place this is! Good food, friendly service and the pianist/singer and drummer did a great job. I will definitely come back again!

My partner's fried egg sandwich was good and tasted delicious. Unfortunately for me, it didn't work out. A pulled chicken sandwich seemed delicious to me. A pigeon thought so too! I had just finished 1/4 of the sandwich when a pigeon landed in the middle of my plate. On my sandwich of course.... So unfortunately my lunch was no longer edible. I told the waitress and she was quite nonchalant about it. She said the pigeons were cheeky and didn't offer anything else. If I worked there, I would definitely tell the owner and find a solution to still satisfy the customer. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be on such a festive day.

You don't have to come here in the evening. Heaters are turned off at 9:00 PM. Every other terrace is on. People behind us turned them back on and get an "official warning". As if we were in primary school. A nice atmosphere at the beginning of the evening and I was helped quickly, but that quickly ends. Then I was almost thrown out by an agitated security guard because I supposedly threw up while I had been sitting on my chair all evening. When he finally realized that it wasn't me, he couldn't apologize. Very customer-friendly.

We came here 13-14 years ago, beginning of our 'courtship'. Wasveen nice time. Went last week with my son and daughter-in-law as a gift from them. Had a delicious meal and then danced. How fun with live music (request songs) on a grand piano and drums. Nice singer, interacting with staff and guests. Great service (worth a lot!!). We will definitely come back here again soon.

We went for a simple lunch and just ordered toasts and soup but our orders came very late and also wrong. We were 4 people and only got 3 lunches (those also very late considering the meals) we were told something went wrong with the last order and as a solution we got an empty plate and asked if we want to share until we got the last meal. And eventually the last meal came wrong than what we ordered but at that point we just wanted to be done with it. When we asked for a glass of water we were told they don't give tap water only sell bottled water, good to keep in mind considering you can get tap water for free at many cafes/restaurants in the Netherlands. Food was also not tasty and quality was very low, bread they use for soup and toasts are from supermarket and cheap kind. It was the worst experience I had in The Netherlands, so sadly I would not recommend here at all and I am very surprised by good reviews. Maybe recently something changed about the place. One good thing: since so many things went wrong, they offered us one round free drinks. But even if every other thing is fine, don't expect to have tasty lunches here.

Local right on the market square in Gouda. You can sit very well and enjoy the atmosphere. The food is also quite good. There is a delicious selection of sandwiches and fries+ The service can be improved. Especially when clearing the tables.

This was such a find in the market square of Gouda. HAVE THE GOUDA SOUP!! They were testing a mixed grill and if it’s available it’s an amazing shareable for two! The staff are some of the best I’ve encountered. Attentive, fun, and know their menu! Syl and Chandely were top level!

What a wonderful place to dine. Delicious food (as always). We have eaten here before, but tonight exceeded all expectations in terms of service because of 1 man. Dylen the servant. What a winner. Friendly, quick and really fun. Many restaurant employees can learn something from that. The next time we eat here we will definitely sit in his "part".

Delicious food, good atmosphere for an evening meal.

Most restaurants in Gouda are very decent and this one is no exception. The terrace is well located to enjoy the view of the square. We liked the meal but the salad in particular. I found, however, that the portions in the trio of fish were a little small but the taste was there. They have an original way of presenting fries. So overall a positive rating.

Chose to have dinner at Swing after a nice touristical walk in Gouda, because of all the restaurants located at the central square, Swing had the most colourful and cosy atmosphere, like being at a restaurant at the beach. The service was professional, energetic and quick, validating the choice that we made. Being a group consisting of both vegan people and meat-lovers, the dinner menu was also appealing to all of us. For every course there was a vegetarian/vegan option and I was curious to try the vegan bavette main. This 3D-printed steak, which was richly garnished with a pesto from peas, rendang with yellow beetroot and twister fries was very interesting, having the same structure as a beef steak. My meat-loving parents enjoyed it too! Personally I prefer something less processed, but given the fact that we're in Gouda, I was already happy to see more vegan options on the menu. My mom tried the avocado burger (with a glutenfree bun), which was good but a little dry. All of the portions were more than enough and joyfully presented. They served even iced coffee with plantbased milk and a vegan stroopwafel. The coconut ice cream with a mousse from mango and passion fruit was a delight! If you want a casual, but joyful dinner with lovely background music and a nice view on the historical central square then I definitely recommend Swing! Also perfect if you are with a group of people with a difference diet. Theres something for everyone.

We sat down for dinner and scanned the QR code to view the menu. When a waiter arrives, after many minutes, he says that that doesn't apply to dinner and brings us the evening menus. The space for 4 to eat at the round table outside was really narrow and the waitress left the plate in my daughter's hand and let her sort it out somehow! It wasn't nice. We had to put the (rectangular) plates vertically to fit them and no one took away the empty bottles to save some space.

Their street guy was the selling point; we were not sure on whether or not this was where we wanted to eat, but he was very convincing. The food was great and I'm glad that we ended up eating here.

Our second visit to Swing was a bit disappointing. Our first experience was very positive and with high expectations disappointment lurks. Staff was polite, beer and wine were OK, but a simple sandwich with ketchup (2x) seems a step too far. When first served, the sandwiches were almost cold and without ketchup! Waited a while again and the second load was warmer but not nice and hot. In short... the kitchen runs on autopilot, while cooking really needs a kitchen timer. Our agenda was full and therefore we did not return it again. We will not ignore Swing, but expect extra supervision of what leaves the kitchen. July 2024, Because there is something about Swing, a third visit. The Dutch national team's football victory is still in the works. A sticky floor (that seems to have been the case for some time according to the staff) and the employees seem to have a hangover. Fortunately not all. A delicious Rendag sandwich that tastes great. The beer is served incorrectly. The wrong taste. Because throwing away is not in my dictionary, I ask "what kind of beer is this". The tap lady on duty does not answer the question, not even on a second attempt. When I ask an adult waiter I get an adult answer, but the tap lady suddenly gets involved! We keep it at 3 stars. The age of the staff is low and you therefore lack experience. It could swing a little more.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! We sat down and waited for a server for maybe 15 mins before asking for menus. I watched servers walk by my family and I several times. I then asked for a menu more than once. Needless to say, we never got menus or asked if we wanted food or drinks. I watched several other customers go through the same thing. Like us, they just up and left.

Nice terrace on the Grote Markt. The service was fine. The food okay. It's very nice that they have vegan options.
