One of the nicest Chinese restaurants I have tried in Amsterdam

Best chinese in Amsterdam. Especially good for duck and pork dishes. I love the Combi a la Golden Chopsticks. Service is friendly. If it's busy they like to keep things moving so food comes quick and fast.

Delicious food that made up for our rainy day. Friendly service. Also a bit of nostalgia, there had been a distant past.

We already came last year to eat at this restaurant, and we came back for the Christmas holidays this year. The lobster was delicious, the Peking duck was amazing. Everything was well prepared to perfection, the service was pleasant and fast. Thanks for everything.

The server was the only rude person I have ever encountered on my 3 day solo trip to Amsterdam. I sat there wanting a nice meal on my last night before I go back home. I ordered hot and sour soup and tried to double check if the hot and sour soup is the same we have in Canada the reason was I was in China town the night before and ordered hot and sour soup but was given a different kind of soup so this time I wanted to double check that I am ordering what I want. The server was making rude gestures as if I am stupid asking what kind of hot and sour soup they are serving. Then I called him back so I can order noodles. To avoid more conversation and feeling belittled by the server, I showed him a photo of the food I want to eat and then again he questioned me and said looking at the photo the food is from upstairs you probably ate there last night... blah blah blah all the rudeness. I had enough, paid my bill and walked out. Seriously, this man is definitely not happy with his job. It is just annoying that servers should be friendly and not out there to ruin peoples moment. Even while I was paying he keeps trying to justify his rudeness. I truly lost my appetite so I cannot tell you if the hot and sour soup was good or not. I will bring my business elsewhere where I will be treated with respect and can enjoy a nice meal peacefully. Very bad experience!

De bediening was gestrest en onaardig eten vond ik heel slecht , kreeg ook last van mijn buik van het eten. Was vroeger altijd een lekker restaurant, maar ook gezwicht voor het toerisme in Amsterdam helaas , erg duur en slechte kwaliteit.

Seems like a great authentic place for good Chinese food. I got the fried pork belly noodle soup and the broth with some spicy oil was delicious! Unfortunately I couldn’t eat much of the pork belly, it was really salty to where not even my bottomless pit of a husband wanted to help me finish. Service was a little lackluster but no one was rude or hostile.

Hun motto is zeer waarschijnlijk 'de klant is hier niet koning' of anders 'de klant heeft altijd ongelijk'. Erg jammer, want het eten was er redelijk. De afknapper was met name de vreselijke bediening. Dus mocht je hier ongevoelig voor zijn, ga er gerust eten. 1e negatieve ervaring was dat de goede geklede ober na 5 seconden reeds zijn geduld verloor en vervolgens weigerde onze bestelling op te nemen. Na lang wachten kan er een vrouwelijke collega de bestelling opnemen. Hier gingen helaas wat dingen fout, maar ieder mens kan doen maken. Echter de ober niet, want die kwam die kwam maar liefst 5 keer opnieuw langs om aan te geven dat ze toch echt de bestelling goed had opgenomen en dat het onze fout was!??? Hoe dan? Ik had reeds de miscommunicatie geaccepteerd en gegeten wat er voorgeschoteld werd, echter vond deze ober het desondanks noodzakelijk om nog 5 keer langs te komen om te vertellen dat zij gelijk had. Vreselijke ervaring dus. En een absolute afrader om daar te gaan eten. Erg jammer voor de keuken, want die was echt niet slecht, het waren de obers die de klanten weg jaagde.

Take it from an Amsterdammer: avoid this place! A short story: we enter (2 people), sit down, are handed the menu and wait for the waiter to take our order. A group of six people enter after us. The waiter takes this party's order first. I say something about that. The waiter says that if I don't like it, I can quit. I get agitated. A female colleague of the waiter tells me not to point at the waiter, because this is rude for Chinese people. We left. This was my favorite restaurant in the Oude Doelenstraat for over thirty years. I've seen it deteriorate over the years. But I remained a loyal customer. For what it's worth, they won't see me again. It has become an overpriced tourist trap anyway I don't expect a response from the owner or manager, because they don't respond anyway, as I gather from the paucity of reactions on previous critical reviews.

I've been coming here since 1987, always perfect, but the prices have gone up bizarrely. It has become disproportionately expensive for a simple Chinese restaurant with a simple interior. Too bad

Avoid this place. Food was gross and way overpriced, I would not even eat here again if it were free. Meats were rubbery and fatty. Zero flavor. Server even rudely asked for a tip. You will do better just buying a cheap loaf of white bread for dinner. I felt ripped off. There are hundreds of food establishments in the area. We were just unlucky and walked into the wrong one. We did not even finish our meals and ended up getting food from one of those Wok in a box estabishments that are all over the place which had far more flavor and was priced much cheaper. Please do not eat in this place, its poor quality food priced as good quality.

Very badly cooked chinese food 😊 Chicken pieces were rubbery and tasteless I was shooked by how bad it was! I’m not sure who’s recommending this place but probably the worst chinese food I’ve had in Europe.

Food is good, I didnt have an issue. But I didnt appreciate how every time we needed assistance we had to literally find a person and wave at them for a couple of minutes. After the meal, we wanted to get a bill but servers wouldn’t come, so we had to walk to the cashier. And the cashier asked for a tip (I did pay the tip as they asked btw). Ridiculous

It's balance between price and taste! If u miss Asian food, u should go here to satisfy ur tongue🙌🏻 Beware for the tips, actually it's ok but they will ask when u pay the bills

A great place to come for Chinese food! The wonton noodle soup was delicious. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Great chilli oil! I highly recommend coming here if you’re in Amsterdam looking for some Chinese food.

Worst service and very mediocre food.

The menu is extensive and even offers dishes with organ meat, which I have not seen before on a menu in the Netherlands. The food was served quickly and the portions were generous. The staff is friendly, and most of the customers are Chinese, which indicates that the restaurant does not cater to tourists. We will definitely come back.

We had a vegetarian dish and the Peking duck. Both totally overpriced and nothing included except dry rice. The vegetarian dish was 2.3 pak choi, fried and without anything for almost 30. - Not even sauce.

In the middle of the tourist center of Amsterdam, this restaurant is a breath of fresh air. Good food and well organised. I am used to the Shumai being much smaller, so lunch is a full meal.

Chinese restaurants in the city center basically serve Cantonese cuisine, with a lot of choices. Their scallion chicken is very delicious and fragrant. The name on the menu is Guifei Free Range Chicken. The seafood tofu pot is very delicious and goes well with rice. The seafood includes prawns, squid, scallops and fish fillets. Claypot rice comes with crispy rice! Although the sauce is a bit bland and the rice is a bit wet, it still tastes good. I ordered the pork ribs with black bean sauce. The ribs are slightly fat but also very fragrant.

First time having Chinese food in Amsterdam and it did not disappoint. I had the steamed Aubergine in XO sauce. It open a new world of flavors for me. I asked the waiter for recommendations and he was very friendly and served me well. I highly recommend this place to people that want to try authentic Chinese food. The restaurant is small, so it was really cozy. Had a great dinner with friends.

Came for friends gathering. We all enjoyed the dinner with incredible food, cozy atmosphere, and good service here. It is definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the center of Amsterdam! The chicken with spring onions was pretty special. It’s one of the most famous dishes in Guangdong and really worth trying. The roasted duck and pork were well cooked and even better with the soy sauce and the chili sauce. All dishes were as good and genuine as what I had in Guangzhou. I bet you will like them even if you haven’t tried Chinese food yet. The location of the restaurant is in the heart of Amsterdam and easy to find and reach by public transport.

This Chinese restaurant in Ammu is delicious! The dishes are rich and the portions are generous, with a lot of meat in the meat dishes. The service attitude is very good and the price is reasonable. It is very suitable for family gatherings and friends gatherings.

From what I read online, I just eat claypot rice with kale. The hot and spicy claypot rice is delicious, and the sausage is so good that it will make your mouth water. Claypot rice is my favorite, it awakens memories in the house that even gods can't stop eating!

We ordered oysters in black bean sauce, Hong Kong style sausage claypot rice, crab and scallops, they are all very tasty. My favourite one is barbecued pork,it was very delicious than I expected!! the The staff are niceand the environment is very good, suitable for dining with friends. Very tasty Chinese restaurant and the portion is huge. Like their palcement, really brings the authenticity. We ordered the specialities, and it was so much worth the wait. Recommend "typhoon" fried crab with garlic and chilli. The crab meat was very tender and juicy. You can actually feel it dancing on your tongue. Sweet and sour pork is another classic and I devoured 2 bowls of rice for it. It was a very fullfilling experience.

Chinese food lover must try the food in Golden Chopsticks! It is a very famous restaurant and I finally have time to enjoy a meal here. The location is perfect here and just 5-minute walk from the Rokin metro station. The atmosphere here is very good. Everywhere is clean and quite. One of my favorite dishes here is Fried Crab with Dry Spicy and Garlic. It is very special. The ingredients are very fresh, the meat is very soft and tender, and there is no fishy smell of seafood. The barbecued pork is highly recommended as it is a very classic and traditional Cantonese food. All in all, nice food, nice service! I will definitely come back here to have another try!

I would not recommend this restaurant. This time I found the food less tasty than I am used to from Golden Chopsticks. The scallops with black bean sauce were not balanced in taste and steamed a little too long. 3 types of pork dish was unfortunately not fresh. Ho Fun noodles with beef were fine, but the portion was smaller compared to the other dishes. This time we sat near the door and there we were in the draft. When booking, I would indicate that you do not want to sit near the door. Unfortunately, prices have increased dramatically and portions seem to have gotten smaller. I don't know if I will come back here.

Their crab and scallops are fresh and tasty, and the portions are generous. heir classic Cantonese roast meat platter is worth trying, especially the crispy-skinned roast pork belly. Definitely one of the best Chinese cuisine in Amsterdam. I highly recommend you to try their oysters and scallops, because we order them and they are fresh and tasty. The portions are generous. Food looks mouthwatering and tastes amazing, with a fast and friendly service it is my favourite Chinese restaurant so far. Very authentic and delicious Chinese food in Amsterdam central. We ordered quite a few dishes to share, in general they are all tasty, I would recommend the roasted duck and pork, oyster, and the fish which I enjoyed a lot. The seafood is very fresh and was cooked properly. The service was also nice, the waiter helped to recommend some good ones. This is a decent place for family or friend gathering, easy to travel and amazing food, I would recommend it to both locals and tourists

Overpriced, tastes like nothing, service annoying, hair in the food

Service and food wasn't bad but It was overpriced, they charged us 7.5€ for a 75cl water bottle and the "service" wasn't on the bill so they ask you to pay extra at the end. Also the sizes werent as Big as expected.

I was served by Mike, we both shared the same name, the service was out of this world 🌎 we really enjoyed our meal everything was great and I will be back with the mass to have some more seafood and my favourite seabass fish 🐟 overall its 10 out of ten. HAPPYFORYOUPROMOTIONS SAYS YES.

Niet echt een Nederlandse maar meer een internationale Chinese Chinees, dim sum was lekker en wij houden van de andere sfeer. Dat er veel Chinezen komen zegt denk ik ook wel veel.

In een drukke straat, zeer populair, dus reserveren een must. Eten is lekker, bediening vriendelijk, eten komt vlot, hoeveelheid rijst wordt met de jaren wel minder. Prijzen in vergelijking met elders nog steeds betaalbaar. Zeker een aanrader en wrs een van de beste dimsum restaurants in Amsterdam. Er komen: met openbaar vervoer en lopen. Parkeren is geen optie in Amsterdam centrum.

I was really craving for a good noodles soup near to my hotel area. Found this restaurant, and we just walked in to try their wanton noodles soup. We ordered chicken soup, fried rice, prawns, pork dumplings noodle soup, Jasmine tea, and pour tea. Honestly, the food taste is not so great, tasteless, and very expensive. It's not worth it to pay a very high price for the tasteless food. Besides the restaurant staff are not friendly people, no smile or pleasant look at their faces. Only 3 tables are occupied with the customers, so it's not like they are busy with the other customers. At the beginning itself their customer service is very disappointed. I went to this restaurant with my 3 family members. Since only 2 of us ordered food first, the staff removed the cutlery and table paper from my other 2 family members. I don't understand why they need to do that. It is like we are not allowed to share food in this restaurant. 😑 The good part of this restaurant is clean and look nice. Overall, my experience with this restaurant is not very nice in terms of the food taste and the staff.
