Amazing food and amazing staff. They were so welcoming, making jokes with us and giving us a warm and comfortable feeling while having dinner. The food was also top notch, you could taste that everything was home made with the rich flavor in the dishes. 10 out of 10!

We order mixing canton style roasted pork & duck. Crispy pork is too much fat, duck and roasted pork(cha-siu) is too dry. Veg with garlic is ok and just a bit too oily. Fire noodles is Good 👍🏻👍🏻 Food serve very fast as only 5 mins all ready in table. Staffs is ok but the guy keep on pushing us to pay tips which make us feel uncomfortable. Hope they know it is not good idea to do that.

I think the food is as good as the one in Haicheng upstairs, but the restaurant is a little smaller and the decoration is a little simpler.

The food quantity was great, the taste was okay, and the restaurant atmosphere was good, as in, it was tranquil. However the service needed more effort. I have to wait 15-17 min for a bowl of wonton noodle soup and crispy pork rice, which was only served when I complained about it. The staff reasoned that it took 10 min to cook the wonton, something they also mentioned after I complained. Yet, the guests after me had their whole dishes served before me. Truly a disappointment and I won't be coming back.

We ate here for lunch on Friday for Sail 2025. It was quite a wait for our food after the chaotic ordering. I had duck with rice and my partner had chicken with vegetables and noodles. Let's just say this food gets a 7 out of 10. It was well-prepared and the portion was generous. However, the non-alcoholic beer, for which the waitress apologized, was warm. She did try her best to give it a glass of ice, but you don't put ice cubes in your non-alcoholic beer, do you? Oh, and I had to ask twice for sambal, and after the food started to cool, I had to get it myself from the bar. There I had to wait another few minutes. Oh, and there was an insect in a newly brought beer glass. Pretty sloppy. Therefore, we won't be having lunch or dinner here again anytime soon.

The food was a winner, very authentic in my opinion. I had the standard noodle soup with wontons. And my partner had the pork belly with rice. The atmosphere was very tranquil and clean. The servers were patient. One even brought me new clean decorative placemats and the second folded it for me in a way not to crease it. Great experience. Would go again.

I went at about 6.40pm on Saturday night. Got a table immediately. Very quick service and a huge choice of food. Had the pork and shrimp dumplings which came with a very cute bowl and China spoon. Delicious! Then had beef and black sauce with noodles. Very generous portions and great taste! Would reccomend if you like Chinese food. Restaurant is very clean and spacious with seats indoor and outside.

I give one star because I cannot give zero stars. An elderly waitress with glasses had an extremely bad attitude. I asked her if I could pay with WeChat RMB and whether there would be any discounts. Because I came from the UK, many Chinese restaurants in the UK have discounts for WeChat payment or cash payment. I don't know if there is such a discount in the Netherlands. So when I paid the bill, I asked the waitress about this. The waitress told me in a very fierce way, "We don't accept RMB! First, this is Europe. RMB is not accepted throughout Europe. Second, why is there a discount for RMB?" If you don't understand why, please go out more and broaden your horizons. Do I have to be lectured by you for a meal in your restaurant? I am really speechless. The food tastes just okay. The roast duck rice is okay. The portion is not bad for 18.9 euros. The wonton soup is average. The most important thing is that the waitress's attitude is not good.

The food was very good and the mussels were delicious.

I had a bite to eat today: grilled bacon with nasi goreng and a bottle of coke for €26. You can't say it tasted good, but it could have been a bit warmer for my taste. I also think it's a bit pricey for what you get on your plate.

Staff sometimes impolite, price like 5 times more expensive than that in Hong Kong, gives a feeling of "scamming" us.

Golden Chopsticks is an entirely different gem, and honestly one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam. Some of the dishes I highly recommend include the steamed eel with black bean sauce, which truly amazed me. Since moving abroad, I hadn’t had eel in years, and the moment I tasted this dish, I was overwhelmed with joy — I didn’t even stop to take a photo before finishing two bowls of rice with it. The pan-seared sea bass was also impressive; while most Cantonese restaurants in Amsterdam tend to serve steamed fish (which can sometimes have a slightly fishy taste), this version was clean, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. The steamed scallops with garlic and vermicelli were incredibly fresh and huge — each one was literally larger than my palm. I really recommend this restaurant🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam. The menu had a great variety of authentic Chinese dishes, and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My favourite was the roasted beijing duck - a classic of the Chinese cousine. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself had a warm and inviting atmosphere, with clean and comfortable seating. I also appreciated the generous portion sizes and reasonable prices especially for central Amsterdam. I’ll definitely be coming back soon and highly recommend Golden Chopsticks to anyone craving Chinese cousine.

Food was okay, portions were generous, service was extremely fast however asking for tips was something unusual.

We ordered takeaway sweet and sour pork ribs. The delivery was quick, portions were big, and tasty. We were expecting it to taste more like sweet and sour pork so it was not the expected flavours, but if you enjoy ribs this is a treat! Just a note that it was on the pricey side but given the portion sizes there is nothing to complain about. Would recommend giving them a try.

Let’s not talk about the oyster cole heart. After all, I don’t know if this is really the way to do it: after boiling, put a small butterfly of oyster sauce next to it. It's just that this dish is a bit expensive at nearly 20 euros... The roast pork is just okay. Lamb belly pot is a bit of a problem. The choice of ingredients for the lamb brisket was poor, it was just the edges and corners of the ribs. The meat was not cooked well either, and the tendons were completely unbreakable. You have to use tearing methods to tear the meat off. So this dish is extremely bad.

I visited this restaurant by chance while traveling, but the overall experience was disappointing. The attitude is ridiculously bad. The restaurant seems to be looking for trouble rather than being open for business. They throw it at the guests when serving food. This restaurant had to be the worst dining experience of my trip. As soon as I walked in, I felt something was wrong, the atmosphere was depressing, and the service staff didn't mean "welcome" at all. One elderly female employee in particular had a face as big as a pot and spoke extremely impatiently. She felt that we were disturbing her rest by ordering food. When we were ordering, we politely asked about the contents of several dishes, but she interrupted us directly with a condescending and even a bit fierce tone, showing no sense of service at all. There is no basic respect in the catering industry, it is simply disrespectful to customers. I had a pretty disappointing experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff showed a very unfriendly attitude, as if they were doing me a favor by serving me. There was not a smile or a minimum of courtesy. Additionally, the food left a lot to be desired: it was clearly not fresh, the taste was bland, and some ingredients tasted as if they had been stored for days. While looking for dinner, we came across this restaurant. As in many restaurants in this area, dogs weren't allowed. We respected the rules, but we were already very hungry, and everyone was craving Cantonese food, so we politely asked for an exception. The employee – an elderly lady – reacted in a very rude and condescending manner, saying, "We Dutch don't like dogs. Either eat or leave." This kind of tone is by no means in keeping with the hospitable attitude we experienced everywhere else in Amsterdam – and, incidentally, the lady was clearly not Dutch. Fortunately, this incident occurred at the end of our stay, so it only marred a single evening and not the entire trip.

We were very happy to come to this restaurant last week, but a waiter who looked very much like the proprietress not only did not welcome us, but also had a very bad attitude towards us and used regionally discriminatory language (Hong Kong people look down on Mainland China). Such people are not worthy of continuing to work in the service industry and will damage the image of the Chinese in Europe. Comment here to avoid stepping on pitfalls.

Come in out of the rain to order something to take away. When I entered I was helped politely. Until AFTER ordering I was told that I had to wait outside with my dog. And a few seconds after ordering when I said something about it and that I would just go somewhere else to order, I was told that he could no longer cancel the order and that it was almost ready. Well, that's a total bullshit and a really big lie. Because the cook hadn't even started on it yet. (You can see the Peking Duck hanging and being prepared) Next time I'll call the police and make a big scene if I'm lied to like that again. Fraudsters and liars. They also have a lot to learn in terms of customer service.

The server was the only rude person I have ever encountered on my 3 day solo trip to Amsterdam. I sat there wanting a nice meal on my last night before I go back home. I ordered hot and sour soup and tried to double check if the hot and sour soup is the same we have in Canada the reason was I was in China town the night before and ordered hot and sour soup but was given a different kind of soup so this time I wanted to double check that I am ordering what I want. The server was making rude gestures as if I am stupid asking what kind of hot and sour soup they are serving. Then I called him back so I can order noodles. To avoid more conversation and feeling belittled by the server, I showed him a photo of the food I want to eat and then again he questioned me and said looking at the photo the food is from upstairs you probably ate there last night... blah blah blah all the rudeness. I had enough, paid my bill and walked out. Seriously, this man is definitely not happy with his job. It is just annoying that servers should be friendly and not out there to ruin peoples moment. Even while I was paying he keeps trying to justify his rudeness. I truly lost my appetite so I cannot tell you if the hot and sour soup was good or not. I will bring my business elsewhere where I will be treated with respect and can enjoy a nice meal peacefully. Very bad experience!

Seems like a great authentic place for good Chinese food. I got the fried pork belly noodle soup and the broth with some spicy oil was delicious! Unfortunately I couldn’t eat much of the pork belly, it was really salty to where not even my bottomless pit of a husband wanted to help me finish. Service was a little lackluster but no one was rude or hostile.

Hun motto is zeer waarschijnlijk 'de klant is hier niet koning' of anders 'de klant heeft altijd ongelijk'. Erg jammer, want het eten was er redelijk. De afknapper was met name de vreselijke bediening. Dus mocht je hier ongevoelig voor zijn, ga er gerust eten. 1e negatieve ervaring was dat de goede geklede ober na 5 seconden reeds zijn geduld verloor en vervolgens weigerde onze bestelling op te nemen. Na lang wachten kan er een vrouwelijke collega de bestelling opnemen. Hier gingen helaas wat dingen fout, maar ieder mens kan doen maken. Echter de ober niet, want die kwam die kwam maar liefst 5 keer opnieuw langs om aan te geven dat ze toch echt de bestelling goed had opgenomen en dat het onze fout was!??? Hoe dan? Ik had reeds de miscommunicatie geaccepteerd en gegeten wat er voorgeschoteld werd, echter vond deze ober het desondanks noodzakelijk om nog 5 keer langs te komen om te vertellen dat zij gelijk had. Vreselijke ervaring dus. En een absolute afrader om daar te gaan eten. Erg jammer voor de keuken, want die was echt niet slecht, het waren de obers die de klanten weg jaagde.

Take it from an Amsterdammer: avoid this place! A short story: we enter (2 people), sit down, are handed the menu and wait for the waiter to take our order. A group of six people enter after us. The waiter takes this party's order first. I say something about that. The waiter says that if I don't like it, I can quit. I get agitated. A female colleague of the waiter tells me not to point at the waiter, because this is rude for Chinese people. We left. This was my favorite restaurant in the Oude Doelenstraat for over thirty years. I've seen it deteriorate over the years. But I remained a loyal customer. For what it's worth, they won't see me again. It has become an overpriced tourist trap anyway I don't expect a response from the owner or manager, because they don't respond anyway, as I gather from the paucity of reactions on previous critical reviews.

I've been coming here since 1987, always perfect, but the prices have gone up bizarrely. It has become disproportionately expensive for a simple Chinese restaurant with a simple interior. Too bad

Avoid this place. Food was gross and way overpriced, I would not even eat here again if it were free. Meats were rubbery and fatty. Zero flavor. Server even rudely asked for a tip. You will do better just buying a cheap loaf of white bread for dinner. I felt ripped off. There are hundreds of food establishments in the area. We were just unlucky and walked into the wrong one. We did not even finish our meals and ended up getting food from one of those Wok in a box estabishments that are all over the place which had far more flavor and was priced much cheaper. Please do not eat in this place, its poor quality food priced as good quality.

Food is good, I didnt have an issue. But I didnt appreciate how every time we needed assistance we had to literally find a person and wave at them for a couple of minutes. After the meal, we wanted to get a bill but servers wouldn’t come, so we had to walk to the cashier. And the cashier asked for a tip (I did pay the tip as they asked btw). Ridiculous

The menu is extensive and even offers dishes with organ meat, which I have not seen before on a menu in the Netherlands. The food was served quickly and the portions were generous.
