We had the munchies and decided to try Golden Chopsticks. This place did not disappoint — the authentic dishes were delicious and the servers were attentive. Nom nom nom!

I was worried because the reviews were low, but the food was delicious!

I sat at an outdoor table, and I later realized that there was a staff entrance/exit door directly behind me. They had placed a table right in front of this door, so every time a staff member came in or out, they kept bumping into me. I mean, how careless is that? If that is a door, why would you put a table right in front of it? Secondly, the staff were very rude. In particular, I assume one of them was the manager, and there was absolutely no friendliness or smile from him. Also, the pieces of meat in my dish were extremely large. Since they didn’t provide a fork either, I had to eat it with some difficulty and honestly felt a little nauseous while doing so. On top of that, the sauce was far too heavy. I’ve had Chinese food in many different places around the world, so I know that the sauce is not normally this heavy. Overall, I would not recommend this place.

Excellent food. More than enough for one person 😊 Watch Amsterdam unfold on the sidewalk. Great location, friendly and attentive staff, the food is very good and more than enough. What more could you want?

We have eaten here quite often in the past and were actually always very satisfied. The food tasted good, and for us, an evening of dining here often felt like a real celebration. Until the last time… We had previously found small worms in the bok choy. That was obviously unpleasant, but back then we thought: something like that can happen once in a while. Unfortunately, our last experience was of a completely different order. We ate with five people, and afterwards, all five of us developed very severe stomach and intestinal complaints that strongly resembled food poisoning. And I’m not talking about a bit of a stomach ache; we were all quite ill from it. Of course, I cannot determine with certainty what the cause was, but if five people experience such severe symptoms after the same meal, that is reason enough for us not to eat here anymore. It is a terrible shame, especially since we used to love coming here and always had good experiences. But after what has happened now, we simply don't dare to go back.

The first visit was superb, so we had to go back and celebrate my wife’s birthday here. The food here was great the service and hospitality is amazing. Would recommend this place especially for those craving asian dishes.. My family and I loved it and kidding and bonding with Mike, great guy. Will be coming back for sure🙏👏😊

This was my second visit to this restaurant. The main reason I came back was because of the excellent service I received during my first visit The male waiter who was serving the outdoor seating area was outstanding. He gave us very helpful recommendations when we were ordering. I asked him about the portion sizes and which dishes he would recommend, and he patiently answered all of my questions. His professionalism and friendly attitude made our experience enjoyable, and it was the reason I decided to return. Unfortunately, my second visit was completely different. Since the outdoor tables were full, we were seated inside and were served by a middle-aged Chinese woman. I speak Chinese, so I asked her in Chinese whether the restaurant had another dish that I had seen displayed in the window but could not find on the menu. Instead of simply answering my question, she replied in a sarcastic tone, “Do you see it on the menu? Look for it. We don’t have that dish.” Her response immediately made me lose interest in the restaurant. The rest of her service was minimal and came across as rude and dismissive. I couldn’t help but notice that while she seemed indifferent toward us, she appeared much warmer and more attentive to the non-Asian customers seated nearby. I don’t know whether speaking Chinese influenced the way she treated us, but that was certainly how it felt. This inconsistency in service was very disappointing. A restaurant should provide the same level of courtesy and respect to every customer, regardless of the language they speak or their background. If I return in the future, I almost feel that I would need to let my husband speak English or Dutch instead of Chinese just to receive the same quality of service that other customers were getting🙂‍↔️ I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because the food and the excellent service from the male waiter deserve recognition, but our second experience inside the restaurant was extremely disappointing.

I go here every time I'm in Amsterdam. It is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Europe. I have never had a bad meal here, always delicious.

Authentic Cantonese food in Amsterdam! Golden Chopsticks serves flavorful, home-style dishes that really remind me of meals back in China. The garlic scallops and stir-fried greens were especially good. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and fair prices. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving real Chinese food.

Food: Overall, we left unsatisfied after dinner at this restaurant, because we didn't like the food at all. We've had duck in many places, but here it wasn't tasty at all, not cooked all the way through, because the meat was a little pink in the middle and hard to chew😕 according to our friends, their stomachs hurt a lot after eating, and the ribs were too fatty, the fat just dripped down their hands. Regarding the service: I have no complaints. I really liked the service, it was fast, pleasant, they joked with us and cared about our comfort. There weren't many people in the place, so it was nice to sit in silence. I'm taking one star away for the atmosphere, because in the women's toilet you have to hold the tap with one hand to make the water flow, and wash it with the other, and so on, in turn. Prices: I'm attaching the check that we got for 8 people. Overall, the prices are very low, for the center of Amsterdam. We came very hungry, but left disappointed with the taste of the food🥺 the only thing we liked was the shrimp with sweet and sour sauce.

Staff was friendly and efficient. Food was lackluster. Portions are not cheap, but they are of very generous size.

ORIGINAL REVIEW (2023) DELETED?? BY OWNER We had an incredibly terrible experience at this establishment. At our last visit, we stopped for a light dinner and ordered an appetizer and a main. The waiter/manager told us we HAD to order a drink or another meal… mind you the restaurant was EMPTY so it’s not like we were stealing business. We thought he was joking. He was not. So we decided to cancel our order and leave, however they claimed the appetizer (wonton soup) was “done” and we had to pay for it. We thought this suspicious. Our suspicions were correct because the wontons were completely RAW in the middle. We just got up and left - of course having to pay for the raw pork wontons before we left. The team seemed absolutely unconcerned. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Went well, service as in every Chinese restaurant efficient but not customer-oriented/friendly.

Avoid this place! The pork belly skin is thicker than a city wall and harder to chew than an Eighth Route Army belt; I spat it out after one bite. When I asked the waiter, he was evasive but finally admitted it was old and tough. The sweet and sour pork chunks were huge and had a strong gamey smell. The braised chicken had absolutely no flavor, and the bowl of soup noodles was half salt. The two middle-aged waitresses had an "take it or leave it" attitude; after all, in a tourist hotspot, they weren't worried about running out of scallions.

The Peking duck was simply superb. We stopped in for lunch before heading to the airport. It turned out to be the most affordable option in Amsterdam, but they didn't include dessert (which must have affected the final price). For dessert, my son was offered three caramels.

I had the pleasure of returning to this place this last weekend. The food is on another level. I have never tasted Peking Duck in Europe before that was this good ! When I realised later that I had left my Prada bag and valuables behind I returned without panicking and there it was secured by the manager. I did not need to check inside to see if my valuables where safe as I always knew that they would be. I was not wrong..... I don't recommend it. We came here for dinner. The soups were tasteless, the meat was dry and overcooked, and the duck was dry, just bones. Avoid it and find a better place.

They were very polite when we first arrived, but once we spoke Chinese, they started to avoid serving us. Their service was terrible. Other Indonesians who spoke English were treated well, with tea being poured and chopsticks being offered. Yet, we, who speak Chinese, were discriminated against like this. They even demanded a tip! Shameless! The food was awful! They didn't give a tip and deliberately bumped into my friend!

I had the pleasure of witnessing a truly unforgettable performance by a middle-aged waiter — dark-skinned, wearing glasses — whose attitude could only be described as theatrically unpleasant. He tossed the menu onto the table, kept a permanent scowl, and displayed an impressive ability to become selectively deaf whenever spoken to. His remarks, when he did choose to respond, came laced with thinly veiled sarcasm. The highlight of the evening, however, was his instant transformation whenever a white customer approached. Suddenly, the stern mask melted into a warm, eager smile — a live demonstration of Sichuan opera face-changing, right here in the restaurant. It seems he has mistaken this place for his own little “court,” where he can play out his personal hierarchy and favoritism. But one can’t help wondering: When he steps outside this restaurant, who exactly is he? If you’re interested in observing a real-life study of inconsistent service and selective hospitality, this establishment certainly delivers 也就剩点在方小天地里为难同胞的本事了，顾客们离开这里都各自有自己天地，而很可惜你的天地只有这方小饭店了

I hadn’t been here for quite a while, but the staff were extremely friendly. The restaurant was busy, yet the atmosphere was pleasant. The food came in nicely sized portions, was fresh, and tasted great. Overall, a very enjoyable visit.

I brought guests to this restaurant today. The food was quite good, but the waiter (male) didn't come to clear the plates, citing being busy. We put the plates at the cashier, and he came over and got angry with us. His attitude was extremely rude and blatantly racist. The waiter was a middle-aged man with a beard. With such service, even if the food was delicious, we wouldn't go back. We were very unhappy and left feeling angry. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Amazing food and amazing staff. They were so welcoming, making jokes with us and giving us a warm and comfortable feeling while having dinner. The food was also top notch, you could taste that everything was home made with the rich flavor in the dishes. 10 out of 10!

We order mixing canton style roasted pork & duck. Crispy pork is too much fat, duck and roasted pork(cha-siu) is too dry. Veg with garlic is ok and just a bit too oily. Fire noodles is Good 👍🏻👍🏻 Food serve very fast as only 5 mins all ready in table. Staffs is ok but the guy keep on pushing us to pay tips which make us feel uncomfortable. Hope they know it is not good idea to do that.

I think the food is as good as the one in Haicheng upstairs, but the restaurant is a little smaller and the decoration is a little simpler.

The food quantity was great, the taste was okay, and the restaurant atmosphere was good, as in, it was tranquil. However the service needed more effort. I have to wait 15-17 min for a bowl of wonton noodle soup and crispy pork rice, which was only served when I complained about it. The staff reasoned that it took 10 min to cook the wonton, something they also mentioned after I complained. Yet, the guests after me had their whole dishes served before me. Truly a disappointment and I won't be coming back.

We ate here for lunch on Friday for Sail 2025. It was quite a wait for our food after the chaotic ordering. I had duck with rice and my partner had chicken with vegetables and noodles. Let's just say this food gets a 7 out of 10. It was well-prepared and the portion was generous. However, the non-alcoholic beer, for which the waitress apologized, was warm. She did try her best to give it a glass of ice, but you don't put ice cubes in your non-alcoholic beer, do you? Oh, and I had to ask twice for sambal, and after the food started to cool, I had to get it myself from the bar. There I had to wait another few minutes. Oh, and there was an insect in a newly brought beer glass. Pretty sloppy. Therefore, we won't be having lunch or dinner here again anytime soon.

The food was a winner, very authentic in my opinion. I had the standard noodle soup with wontons. And my partner had the pork belly with rice. The atmosphere was very tranquil and clean. The servers were patient. One even brought me new clean decorative placemats and the second folded it for me in a way not to crease it. Great experience. Would go again.

I went at about 6.40pm on Saturday night. Got a table immediately. Very quick service and a huge choice of food. Had the pork and shrimp dumplings which came with a very cute bowl and China spoon. Delicious! Then had beef and black sauce with noodles. Very generous portions and great taste! Would reccomend if you like Chinese food. Restaurant is very clean and spacious with seats indoor and outside.

I give one star because I cannot give zero stars. An elderly waitress with glasses had an extremely bad attitude. I asked her if I could pay with WeChat RMB and whether there would be any discounts. Because I came from the UK, many Chinese restaurants in the UK have discounts for WeChat payment or cash payment. I don't know if there is such a discount in the Netherlands. So when I paid the bill, I asked the waitress about this. The waitress told me in a very fierce way, "We don't accept RMB! First, this is Europe. RMB is not accepted throughout Europe. Second, why is there a discount for RMB?" If you don't understand why, please go out more and broaden your horizons. Do I have to be lectured by you for a meal in your restaurant? I am really speechless. The food tastes just okay. The roast duck rice is okay. The portion is not bad for 18.9 euros. The wonton soup is average. The most important thing is that the waitress's attitude is not good.

I had a bite to eat today: grilled bacon with nasi goreng and a bottle of coke for €26. You can't say it tasted good, but it could have been a bit warmer for my taste. I also think it's a bit pricey for what you get on your plate.

Golden Chopsticks is an entirely different gem, and honestly one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam. Some of the dishes I highly recommend include the steamed eel with black bean sauce, which truly amazed me. Since moving abroad, I hadn’t had eel in years, and the moment I tasted this dish, I was overwhelmed with joy — I didn’t even stop to take a photo before finishing two bowls of rice with it. The pan-seared sea bass was also impressive; while most Cantonese restaurants in Amsterdam tend to serve steamed fish (which can sometimes have a slightly fishy taste), this version was clean, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. The steamed scallops with garlic and vermicelli were incredibly fresh and huge — each one was literally larger than my palm. I really recommend this restaurant🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻

Food was okay, portions were generous, service was extremely fast however asking for tips was something unusual.

We ordered takeaway sweet and sour pork ribs. The delivery was quick, portions were big, and tasty. We were expecting it to taste more like sweet and sour pork so it was not the expected flavours, but if you enjoy ribs this is a treat! Just a note that it was on the pricey side but given the portion sizes there is nothing to complain about. Would recommend giving them a try.

Let’s not talk about the oyster cole heart. After all, I don’t know if this is really the way to do it: after boiling, put a small butterfly of oyster sauce next to it. It's just that this dish is a bit expensive at nearly 20 euros... The roast pork is just okay. Lamb belly pot is a bit of a problem. The choice of ingredients for the lamb brisket was poor, it was just the edges and corners of the ribs. The meat was not cooked well either, and the tendons were completely unbreakable. You have to use tearing methods to tear the meat off. So this dish is extremely bad.

I had a pretty disappointing experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff showed a very unfriendly attitude, as if they were doing me a favor by serving me. There was not a smile or a minimum of courtesy. Additionally, the food left a lot to be desired: it was clearly not fresh, the taste was bland, and some ingredients tasted as if they had been stored for days. I will not return or recommend this place

The attitude is ridiculously bad. The restaurant seems to be looking for trouble rather than being open for business. They throw it at the guests when serving food. This restaurant had to be the worst dining experience of my trip. As soon as I walked in, I felt something was wrong, the atmosphere was depressing, and the service staff didn't mean "welcome" at all. One elderly female employee in particular had a face as big as a pot and spoke extremely impatiently. She felt that we were disturbing her rest by ordering food. When we were ordering, we politely asked about the contents of several dishes, but she interrupted us directly with a condescending and even a bit fierce tone, showing no sense of service at all. There is no basic respect in the catering industry, it is simply disrespectful to customers. While looking for dinner, we came across this restaurant. As in many restaurants in this area, dogs weren't allowed. We respected the rules, but we were already very hungry, and everyone was craving Cantonese food, so we politely asked for an exception. The employee – an elderly lady – reacted in a very rude and condescending manner, saying, "We Dutch don't like dogs. Either eat or leave." This kind of tone is by no means in keeping with the hospitable attitude we experienced everywhere else in Amsterdam – and, incidentally, the lady was clearly not Dutch. Fortunately, this incident occurred at the end of our stay, so it only marred a single evening and not the entire trip.

Very bad experience at Golden Chopsticks. The staff was cold, rude and clearly not interested in customer service. We had the impression of being disruptive as soon as we asked a question. No smiles, no politeness — just a haughty, distant attitude. Even though the food was okay, the reception completely ruined the moment. I won't come back!!

We were very happy to come to this restaurant last week, but a waiter who looked very much like the proprietress not only did not welcome us, but also had a very bad attitude towards us and used regionally discriminatory language (Hong Kong people look down on Mainland China). Delicious! Tons of options and everything we tried was amazing! Portions were good size to share. I highly recommend the West Lake Beef Soup. Service was very quick and polite.

Come in out of the rain to order something to take away. When I entered I was helped politely. Until AFTER ordering I was told that I had to wait outside with my dog. And a few seconds after ordering when I said something about it and that I would just go somewhere else to order, I was told that he could no longer cancel the order and that it was almost ready. Well, that's a total bullshit and a really big lie. Because the cook hadn't even started on it yet. (You can see the Peking Duck hanging and being prepared) Next time I'll call the police and make a big scene if I'm lied to like that again. Fraudsters and liars. They also have a lot to learn in terms of customer service.

Best chinese in Amsterdam. Especially good for duck and pork dishes. I love the Combi a la Golden Chopsticks. Service is friendly. If it's busy they like to keep things moving so food comes quick and fast.
