Always a party for 30 years. What started out as a Chinese bathroom has become almost homely after the latest renovation. But that's not really what you come for. Real Chinese instead of the most Dutch food we get locally. And the atmosphere at NAM Kee is unique, even with the next generation. Peking duck and crepes always delicious. Thanks!

In my opinion, the best Cantonese food in Amsterdam! ! ! The fried chicken is very fragrant and the rice is huge. It’s very enjoyable to eat. Highly recommended! ! !

A restaurant if you want real Chinese food just like they make in China. I have been coming here since 1982 when I was a little girl. Now I come with my children. We have all been regular customers over the years. lovely people real chefs! Great food! Remain my favorite. However, I say do it and you'll never leave again!🥰

After trying Chinese food in a lot of different places, this one is not up to par, mostly chunks of duck or chicken, with a lot of bone, the soup? Tasteless, spring rolls? Poor quality frozen. €20 for a plate of rice, giant pieces of cabbage and 4 pieces of chicken. Well, that's a tourist trap. A complete mistake, apart from the fact that the person who is serving you stays behind you staring, it seems like they want to put pressure on you to leave in less than 25 minutes. A mistake on our part.

I couldn't even get napkins on the table, let alone chopsticks. Food was mediocre and expensive.

Spent €384 on meals that I picked up. Because it was a large order it would take longer than 30 minutes to prepare. To my surprise, the order was ready in no time. Tjaptjoi shrimp: vegetables and shrimp overcooked and clearly not fresh. Foe yong hai was fried egg, chicken fillet with a sweet tasting watery layer of tomato water. I've had better Peking duck there, but it was okay. Steak in black bean sauce, steak was nice and tender but very salty. I can list my entire order but that is pointless. Normally I enjoy eating there, but this time it was clearly just ripped out of the fridge/freezer and heated up. It was a waste of my money.

Dit was vroeger mijn favoriete Chinese restaurant. Helaas is het eten van geurig en smakelijk gewijzigd in smakeloos. De tsa siew was voorheen knapperig en heerlijk gekruid, nu zachte en zwak smakende reepjes kookvlees. Wat is hier de afgelopen tijd gebeurd? Jammer, het is niets bijzonders meer.

I don’ t know because of what component but after noodles with chicken and vegetables which I ordered in this restaurant I felt sick. It was quite suddenly just after I ate it. So unfortunately my experience of visiting it is unpleasant.

Nice little restaurant, the food is very good. Be careful not to arrive too late though (around 9 p.m.) because otherwise you'll be made to understand that you'll have to order quickly, eat quickly and leave quickly, a bit of a shame...

Absolute 10/10, by far the best dish I’ve had in the Netherlands. Get the nr 290 on the menu if you like it a bit spicy. Perfect dish, literally perfect. Also the staff is super welcoming and friendly!

We've been visiting nam kee for more than 20 years, but sadly we will not be coming back. The bill has exploded, we paid 190 euros (45 pp) for a meal we always order, it is triple the amount we paid several years ago. And I get that covid and replacing the cheap interior with fancy costs more. But I miss the simpleness, rude and impatient waiters, and the TL lighting. The food is still great, but the value for money, even with the new styling is off.

We asked not to pay for one of the dishes and the owner ignored the request and was really rude. Reliably excellent Cantonese food. Nam Kee two branches and its own Wikipedia page. It's one of the best in town. I've been coming here for years. The staff are fine, pretty normal for a Dutch Chinese restaurant. They certainly won't gush over you but neither will they spit on your back, so: win-win. Neither do you come here for the atmosphere. You come for reliably excellent food and ... that's it.

The food was good, but the service was absolutely terrible. The staff made us feel unwelcome from the start. An older Chinese lady working there actually blamed *us* for spilling chili oil, even though it was clearly another table's fault. Instead of apologizing, she seemed more interested in scolding us than providing any kind of service. It felt like all they cared about was taking our money. We couldn’t even relax and enjoy our meal—we had only ordered tea and were treated as though we were inconveniencing them. Definitely not a place I’d recommend if you’re looking for a pleasant dining experience. Told the lady it wasn't us and walked off, didn't care. Avoid for sure, I feel like service is more important than the food. Go there if you want a bad time. Plenty of nicer restaurants to go to, also watch out for service charge too even they blamed us :)

The duck was amazing, the crispy pork belly even better. The noodles side was probably the best noodles I've ever had. Portions were huge. The staff was friendly and prompt. Can't see how this place only has 4star rating amongst all the rabish tourist traps in the city

I really enjoyed my meal and it was so yummy. I enjoyed the meat and they had a good customer service. It’s a lovely place and very easy to locate. If you in the area just check it out.

Always 10/10 classic Dutch/Chinese restaurant

Food was really good. The lady staff who was standing outside helped us to find a free table and helped in understanding the dishes. The dish we ordered was too good and tasty. The only concern was about the attitude of the staff person who served food to us. In that loud atmosphere we were not able to hear what he was telling. He was also yelling at us while we were checking about dishes. But I saw him talking nicely to other customers. Anyway, the food was nice. One of the go-to restaurants in Amsterdam.

I went there after 24 hours of Hackathon, to manage some vegetables. So I asked if I can have less ravioli but more greens, so they gave me free extra greens. The ravioli are good and authentic. I really enjoyed it!

Wan tam soup was tasteless with undercooked meat inside. You could see bugs on the salad leaves.

Bumped into this restaurant while it was raining and would like to have lunch. Foods are rather authentic, ordered the deep fried dumpling, wonton soup and roasted duck on rice! all of those are good and expected! The people in the restaurant speak Cantonese, provides an extra layer of familiarity!

Very very good with fast service even with a lot of people so as not to waste time for a visit to Amsterdam 😉. However, we are a little tight (you can hit your Dutch neighbor's plate quite easily). I recommend

Generous food serving, which is great coz we were so hungry. Service is fast and the waiter who served us was very friendly and helpful. Big thank you to the boss who lent us his phone when we had to make a phone call to the airport so we could make arrangement for our missing luggage. I recently visited this restaurant with high hopes, especially for their Peking Duck and pancakes, but unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. One of the major highlights of any visit to a Chinese restaurant is a perfectly prepared Peking Duck, but here, it fell incredibly short. I was served three pancakes that were not just lukewarm but downright cold, as though they had just come out of the fridge. This was disappointing enough, but the duck itself was also very cold, robbing the dish of the warmth and savoriness you expect from freshly prepared meat. It felt as if the entire plate had been prepped and left sitting for too long before being brought to the table. The disappointment didn’t end there. I ordered fried dumplings, hoping they might redeem the meal, but once again, the dumplings were cold and far from appetizing. It’s hard to enjoy a dish when it’s served in such a state, especially when it’s clear that it hasn’t been freshly made or heated properly. Even the iced tea, while passable, wasn’t enough to lift the overall mood of the meal. Another major concern was the hygiene. At one point during the meal, I noticed an older man, who seemed responsible for handling the duck, go to the restroom with his gloves on. Shockingly, when he returned, he came back wearing the same gloves and resumed working. This alone is enough for me to question the cleanliness and safety standards of the restaurant. It’s an unsettling sight that made me think twice about continuing the meal. With cold dishes and questionable hygiene practices, this is not a place I would consider visiting again. For the price and reputation of Peking Duck, this was a letdown, and I can’t recommend this experience to others.

Don't get hung up on words for too long! But we call this Ghetto Comfort Food. The crispy noodles turned my tongue into a kind of special heaven, transforming the taste buds into real seasonings as they rocked up. Pop-up pleasure and all this thanks to the creamy beef that Mel had on back order. On the Zeedijk my spirit and the army of guardian angels housed on my shoulders sometimes want to leave my body. A cross-pollination of centuries-old street DNA here that bubbles up versus being fully present in the moment. I have been in the Netherlands for so long and passed by this store so many times. Every time I am attracted by the barbecue at the door, but maybe because no one recommends it, I have never gone in to try it, but it is actually very good. The roast pork in the store is really the most delicious in the Netherlands. We ordered the three-piece dish. Except for the fried chicken, which was not amazing, the roast duck and pork belly were both super delicious. In addition to the really small portion, after the three pieces of roast duck, there are only four pieces, which look too small when put together, let alone the salted fish and tofu pot... It may be the portion size in the tourist area... The drinks range from classic frozen From lemon to the very special lychee lemon, they are not overwhelming at all.

Very authentic Chinese food here. We’re really impressed with the quality of the food, particularly their duck and pork dishes. As someone who ate Chinese food in Asia for all my life, I wouldn’t hesitate to say that this is as good, if not surpassing the quality and standard of food back home. Keep it up, and thank you for providing such impeccable standard of Chinese food in this part of the world. Thumbs up!

Food was unbelievable and delicious as always.. too bad they scrapped the tripe & ginger from the menu! Brought a Chinese friend from Shanghai with me and she said it was authentic and delicious. Waited 40 mins for a simple order of fried noodles. Totally weird because the food is always ready in 5 mins..

The best Peking duck, pork belly and tja siew I’ve had in Europe! Such a delicious, warm and comforting meal. A very busy and humming restaurant with lovely and fast service. Highly recommend for those looking for great Chinese food in Amsterdam!

Came in for a bite to eat after a walking tour of the city and the food didn’t disappoint. The fried oysters were so tasty and fresh. The combination meat platter was so tasty and juicy I could have eaten them all over again.

not tasty I will add to my review to answer the owner of the restaurant. We went to have dinner on September 14th in the evening at this place. We ordered duck with rice 2 portions (by the way, they did not give us a second bowl of rice, although we ordered 2 ducks) and pork in sweet and sour sauce. Both dishes were a complete disappointment. The duck was on the bone, served very carelessly and did not look appetizing, it tasted like overcooked meat. The pork looked very strange, as if a child had fried boiled pork in an egg. Again, the serving was terrible, they just mixed the pork with the omelette and put it on the plate anyhow, it was absolutely tasteless and ugly. Perhaps I would not have been so disappointed if I had never eaten Chinese food before, but in Amsterdam there are much tastier Chinese restaurants with high-quality products, high-quality serving and the same prices. I hate to give bad ratings and be a bore, but the Chinese place near my house is much better than this restaurant.

The two of us entered this restaurant, and the waiter said that we couldn't sit at table 16 in the picture, because it was for 4 people, but someone put bags in the so-called two-person table next to it. I immediately asked the waiter why two Westerners could sit at the four -person table while we, as Asians, were forced to sit at a cramped two-person table. The waiter replied, “Because they will order more food.” This is absurd! We and they hadn't even started ordering yet, so how could you know we would order less than them? How can a restaurant that openly discriminates like this survive on this street?

The food is really well done and tasty. The staff is nice and friendly, also the service is quite fast. I came with a group of colleagues from the Traditional Chinese Medicine formation, with some Chinese people as part of it, and everyone enjoyed the food. It's definitely a place to go more times.

Good soup - 14 year old really liked wonton soup. But quite expensive for what it is. Quite bland (possibly why kids liked it). Big portions.

Had dinner at Nan Kee with friends, and it was a fantastic experience! The portions were generous and definitely worth the price. I ordered the duck, pork, and sweet and sour soup—everything was absolutely delicious. My friend had the sweet and sour chicken and duck, and we were both thrilled with the quality and quantity of the food. Great value, tasty dishes, and a happy dining experience all around. Highly recommended

After my accident in 2019, I never ate in China Town, Nam Kee again. Much to my great sadness. But yesterday was the day and I was going to try Nam Kee again. The access was narrow, high and scary for a wheelchair. But once helped by muscular bodybuild tourists, the chair was suddenly inside. The menu showed all the missed food. So oysters, chicken, shrimps, pork belly, grilled meats, delicious home made ice tea and duck crêpes. It was fantastic! Also the wait staff, the other guests, and the joy On to Nam Kee Gelderse kade which has steps to the Resto

On Monday, August 26, I got 1 portion of crispy bacon with chicken and 1 veg tjaptjoy. I asked for crispy bacon. I paid €40. Very disappointing when we got home. Wash 4 pieces of chicken and a lot of bacon without a crispy crust, mostly fat. And when you call to report it, they are very rude on the phone. Previous owner was much better.

These people reviewing are so freaking white is hilarious. Don’t listen to them. Coming from a Chinese person who has lived in Shanghai, California, and New York I know Chinese food. Ordered a roasted duck noodle soup and a shrimp wonton soup. Both the duck and the shrimp were cooked perfectly and the wontons were huge. They gave a ton of duck in my bowl. The skin was still crispy despite being in the broth. The broth was also very flavorful and not salty. I also ordered a chow fun which was perfectly cooked and had a lot of beef, noodles, and bean sprouts. Y’all white people need to go to a buffet or back to your cashew chicken. Dutch people: high volume, low prices= quality food. There was also a British customer complain that he can get cheaper food in London. Felt embarrassed for his family.

Great Canton cruisine, the Hong Kong taste back to my mouth. Roast duck and roast pork with crispy skin, tasty cha siu. Wonderful wonton, egg noodle in soup, wonton is authentic, soup also classic, the noodle can be better but still good. Fired Beef, flat rice noodle with soy sauce, Hong Kong style. Happy and nice people, great experience.

Food was average. All these kind of restaurants are like fast food. We can’t really enjoy the food that long. Decoration was good. We could feel that we are in Asia not Europe. Please were friendly but too much straight. That’s the Chinese style I believe.

For dinner, I came to eat Chinese food recommended by a friend. I ordered the roasted pork trio. The roasted pork is half fat and lean, moderately seasoned and not too sweet. The roasted duck is at the level of Hong Kong barbecue. The soy sauce chicken is the chicken breast part and tastes dry. , but seasoning is fine. The tofu in the vegetable oil chicken pot is delicious, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, absorbing the soup. What was more disappointing was the wonton soup noodles. When my family and I took the first bite, we felt that the pork filling was not fully cooked and was pink and translucent. bowl. The wontons that were served again were obviously cooked. The pork and shrimp inside had turned white and were easy to bite. There are eight large wontons in a bowl of noodle soup, each with a shrimp. The ingredients are solid and the soup is light and not salty. Finally, there is lemon tea, which tastes more like fuzetea. The tea base is not as strong and astringent as Hong Kong-style lemon tea, but it is not lost.

We had a noodle Peking soup that really didn't taste like anything. The duck was extremely dry, the noodles were hard and dry and the broth tasted like nothing. You have to order after 1 minute. And even if you leave after 5 minutes with a full plate and say it was bad, no one cares. But it was expensive.
