A very good Peking duck: tender and melt-in-your-mouth. Efficient and quick service.

Unfortunately our oysters were over steamed and had the texture of chicken, not as delicious as I have had here on various occasions in the past. The soup with dumplings was good. The Peking duck was very average, kind of overcooked and had no crispy skin, so I was really disappointed. The service however, was fast and friendly. Unfortunately I will not return.

We visited the restaurant during our trip to Amsterdam. Overall, the food was tasty, well-portioned, and reasonably priced. There was a Vietnamese staff member, and since we are also Vietnamese, she was very friendly and even gave us extra rice. However, after some of us had finished eating, another staff member kept coming over every so often to ask if we were done so they could clear the table. She also started taking away used bowls and plates from those who had already finished. This made it a bit uncomfortable and affected the dining experience for those of us who were still eating. I hope the restaurant can improve this issue by only clearing the table after everyone has finished eating

It is an uninviting place with sofas without cushions, little atmosphere. Upon entering, we ordered some drinks and food; everything was in front of us within 7 minutes, but we couldn't reorder anything—no coffee, tea, or ice cream. You felt like you were being rushed out, which was true; we were standing outside again after shivering 35 minutes.

So glad our pedicab driver took us here when we said we wanted some food that can be spicey! Nice to have delicious authentic Chinese food served by lovely staff. We enjoyed appetizers - Dim Sum and entree of a beef and noodle dish and some cold beers.

This restaurant sells some of the best Cantonese food I have ever tried in my life. The char siew was one of the best, and even though one of the waiters forgot to put in one of our orders and only realized when we told them, the food still came out fresh and delicious. Portion size is very generous too, so it is best to eat if you have 2 people or more. There is also another Nam Kee right nearby too, if this one is crowded.

We had Peking duck, soup with dumplings and grilled vegetables. The duck was juicy and the soup was spicy and the portions were huge. I recommend it.

This shop's roasted pork and crispy pork are delicious, but the roast duck is inferior to the shop next door. The prices are cheaper though.

Best fried rice in Amsterdam. Very no frills restaurant, packed up to the brim. Service was quick and the food tasted awesome. Highly recommed their fried rice, duck and lychee ice tea.

We used to live in Amsterdam and today we came back after 10 years. The first place we went, Nam Kee :). They are as good as always. The oisters are their specialty and a must. The fried noodles or the Pekin Duck are to die for. And they are so nice. Also perfect location. I highly recommend it!

Not great. I ordered roast duck with rice and it was tough, so it might have been reheated. The restaurant is a little on the dark side and the rest room isn't the neatest.

Good food, the chiarsiu and dumplings were delicious. Not too expensive and the food came quickly. Not a restaurant to stay for hours, but more for a quick meal. The Jasmin teas was very nice.

This restaurant is very popular for its Cantonese-style mixed BBQ. The roasted pork with skin was fantastic; the skin was crispy and the meat was tender. The stir-fried vegetables were also delicious, and I was able to enjoy authentic Cantonese cuisine right here in Amsterdam. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The wontons I ate yesterday had no shrimp, only lean pork, and they were dry and tasted like they were expired. The rice noodles were also thick and undercooked.

Cozy place in Chinatown area in central Amsterdam area. Service was good, all servers were speaking fluent English, which was nice. Food was really good too, they served it really fast as well, portion was generous too. Price is as expected in central Amsterdam - quite high, but it' well worth it. Space was a bit too crowded for my liking, but nevertheless, since my colleague and I got a spot by the window, I can't really complain. All in all, I highly recommend to give Nam Kee a go.

We visited the Chinese restaurant Nam Kee on the Zeedijk in Amsterdam. Good Chinese menu. We can recommend. My favorites: Pork Wan Tan soup, steamed oysters, Sui Kau.

The best Peking duck in Amsterdam. Stepping past Zeedijk and seeing these ducks in the window is an irresistible temptation. (Memory from 2018). The flavor is authentic, the skin crispy, and the atmosphere transports you straight to Hong Kong. It's a Chinatown classic that never disappoints. If you come to Amsterdam, you have to try it!

Great Chinese restaurant, fast service.

Nam Kee is a place where culinary simplicity delivers results. The portions are generous, without attempting to appear "fancy," and that's precisely their strength—the food is truly delicious, rich, and honest. The kitchen works quickly and efficiently: despite the influx of guests, dishes arrive promptly, without unnecessary delays. However, the establishment's popularity comes at a price. The space is quite cramped, there's a noticeable lack of space, and during peak hours, you'll almost inevitably have to wait in line. Comfort clearly falls short of demand. Bottom line: this place isn't about atmosphere and privacy, but about the food—and in this regard, it fully lives up to expectations. If you're prepared to tolerate a little discomfort for the sake of good cuisine, a visit is definitely worth it.

If you’re looking for Asian food while visiting Amsterdam, this place offers some of the best, most authentic Chinese cuisine. The space is quite small, and we were seated right in front of the area where dirty dishes are collected, so the noise from the plates was a bit distracting. Aside from that, the meal was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

I had been coming here for years because it used to be fantastic. Unfortunately, this last visit was enough to make me stop coming back. The food quality has clearly declined, and the service was poor. Really disappointing, considering how good this place once was. Thankfully, the area has many other restaurants worth choosing instead.

Excellent Chinese. The meat was both good quality, both the roast duck and pork, and fried beef. And the veg had a good bite

The service was really bad. We waited in the line and the waitress asked when we were leaving after 10minutes, and again before our food and drinks were finished. The Beijing duck was rubbery and fatty, not what I expected. I do not recommend eating here!

It's not good. The char siu is very bland, not even as good as the one I make myself. It costs two euros to make but sells for twenty euros.

Then, twenty taels of gold were offered for roasted pork, its wild flavor preserved, returning to its true essence. A second ten taels were thrown for stir-fried beef, its original flavor achieved without the need for salt. The diners all praised it as absolutely delicious!

The duck was terrible and the service was even worse than the duck. Expensive and not good

Crowded, small, with the tables so crammed it is uncomfortable. The food definitely not worth the price, avoid ‘Peking duck’ at all costs, since it wasn’t crispy, not done through, cut through the bones, with the small bone remains quite hurtful for the insides of the mouth. Tourists’ trap I am afraid.

Asked for a fish recommendation and got the tofu stuffed with minced fish, sounded interesting… tasted great! Big portion, thick delicious sauce with a lil black bean in it. Added a strawberry ice tea which i also recommend. Service was great as well.

Very good experience for me here! FOOD: roasted chicken was sooo succulent, juicy and soft. Charsiew pork was nice. not too fatty. very good balance between meat and very lesa fat. wanton soup was nice , meat could be more tender but was taste acceptable for chinese standards. portions were great!! I can eat by myself for two sitting. SERVICE: a few staff who served me were Vietnamese and were quite attentive and friendly. it was not very busy when I came, around 4-5pm on a weekday. They were polite when serving me and helped me willingly to pack my take away. ATMOSPHERE: customers when I came were courteous enough and kept their conversations to minimum level. it was nice quiet ambiance and only thing u could hear is the chopping of meat in the kitchen which was quite normal for Roast meat places like this. Overall, I highly recommend. Their prices justify the portions and serving! will definitely come back.

Restaurant in Chinatown. We ordered duck ramen and pork dumplings. The food was very disappointing… while the duck was good, the noodles were hard. It was crowded and the service was rather slow, though friendly.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam. This is my go-to place when I'm craving a comforting, filling meal with rice, roast duck, pork belly, and char siu. The menu is extensive, so everyone can order exactly what they're craving. Definitely a place I'd love to return to.

This is a Cantonese restaurant I've always wanted to try. ✨ I went there for lunch on a weekday for the first time. I didn't make a reservation, but I was seated without a wait. 🎶 I read in reviews that the portions are large, but my husband and I ordered chicken spring rolls, a small Peking duck, and something like a stir-fried eggplant, and the portions were just right. 😊 The spring rolls were crispy, and the small Peking duck had three layers of skin, and the meat was thicker than other restaurants' Peking duck. 🧡 The dish that looked like a stir-fried eggplant looked spicy, but it wasn't. It's hard to explain, but it was like what Japanese people would call mild mapo eggplant (white rice was also included in the set), and it was absolutely delicious. ☺️💞 I wanted to order dessert, but it turns out they don't have a dessert menu. The interior was clean and comfortable. ✌🏻 It was a restaurant I'd definitely like to return to! ‼️

Our experience was terrible. I'm giving it two stars because the food was, let's just say, "okay," but the noodles arrived lukewarm, verging on cold. Before we'd even finished eating, they were already taking things off the table without a word. With the last dish they took away, they told us to follow them to pay, not a second longer. We won't be back.

I arrived around 1:00 PM and was quickly seated. I only ordered wonton soup, but it was served quickly. The wontons were delicious and very large!

Quick service the food came in no time and everything was perfect no complaints. I got the soft noodles with beef and my bf got the three meat noodle soup. I would for sure come again.

Beware! Tourist trap! Nam Kee has become a place for tourists. It does not taste authentic cantonese at all(anymore). I was here with an authentic traditional chef from Hong Kong. He was very upset about the state of this restaurant. Horrible place. Horrible staff. Horrible food. It is a disgrace to the cantonese cuisine! The staff only spoke english, dutch and vietnamese! We could not communicate with them in cantonese at all! The tables and seats have become very small and uncomfortable. This restaurant has become a disaster since the chang group took over. As a local cantonese I will never come back here anymore! Its just a tourist trap nowadays! The people here are only trying to make money. Not trying to make delicious and authentic cantonese food for their guests. So sad and frustrating to see a once wonderful restaurant become like trash!

The guy making drinks by the front was the loveliest and chattiest ever! He made some really nice iced teas for us and they were delicious. However, the female manager was very rude and snappy to us. Not the way to treat your customers. Would return for the service, not the management. Do better.

This is a restaurant only tourists who don't know Cantonese cuisine would go to. I'm giving it two stars because it's clean and has a little service. But the beef brisket was really bad, completely bland, and the chef clearly used MSG so it wouldn't have gotten into the sauce… The baby bok choy inside had no flavor. The rice was all mushy and mushy, even the rice balls weren't cooked as badly. The sweet and sour chicken was the only one that had a little bit of sauce, but the chicken strips weren't fried. The worst part was the Jasmine tea – it was tasteless, worse than when I used a tea bag! 😅

Overrated, taste consider below average, and ambient is noisy and seat is narrow. Will not be back

Food was ok but pricey for Chinese food. You can have unlimited rib w/ fries & salad the same price (Satellite sport bar) for example. The worst thing is they targeted tourists for tipping. You don't pay tips in general in Europe!!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. I first came here specifically for the roasted pork belly, and it didn’t disappoint-I haven’t had better anywhere else. Meat is clearly their specialty, and they also serve excellent duck and assorted meat dishes if you want to sample a variety. Portions are generous, drinks are always refreshing, service is quick even when it’s busy, and prices are fair. I keep coming back because they consistently deliver exceptional and delicious food ❤️

Paying the same price and ordering the same food, yet the portion sizes were different... Is this discrimination against Asians? The portions are significantly smaller than those for Europeans. I wouldn't recommend coming to this restaurant again; it gives off a racially discriminatory vibe.

I recommend the sweet corn chicken soup - it’s so good, especially with some white pepper on top. Service is normally friendly too!

I love Asian cuisine. Unfortunately, not here. Chopped duck, bones and all, in a very bland broth. The soup was full of noodles and, apart from some cabbage, no other vegetables. I've had much better. The other plates around us looked fine. I wouldn't recommend the soup. There was no ambiance. Overcrowded, tables crammed together, and incredibly loud.

Used to be better. Ok but not a great experience. Considering that the restaurant is no frills and relatively crammed, it would help if the food was excellent, but I find the quality of cooking decreasing over time.

It was recommended for Peking duck. We had it with pancakes, which was okay, but this restaurant certainly isn't among the top restaurants with good Peking duck listed by Google. A friend of ours had a duck dish, which was all bone and fat. Never again.

The mapo toufu changed the recipe and it’s not as good as before.

Nam Kee is a Chinese restaurant with specialty Chinese dishes like Peking Duck, Babi Bangang pork with noodle soup, and Chinese rice dishes. I love the Peking Duck and Babi Bangang pork here; the pork is crispy and the meat is really juicy and tender.

My boyfriend and I really like this place, we eat here every time we visit Ams, until last Monday, the female staff called the customer ‘It’. I don’t know if the restaurant changed to a Vietnamese owner but now there are Vietnamese staff. I hope the restaurant reviews the behavior of the staff.

I've been coming here for years to buy meat, and the last few times I've been disappointed. But today... was the last straw that I'll never come here for takeout again. The meat is absolutely terrible—all fat, no meat. It's not what it used to be. I'm very disappointed with the quality for the price.

To be honest, I was disappointed. I think Nam Kee is banking on its reputation. The food was nothing special, lacking in flavor, and rather dull. A serving of noodles with a bit of pork that lacked flavor. I expected more from an "authentic" Chinese restaurant.

The perfect spot for a late dinner! Their shrimp toast, shrimp dumplings soup, and lychee ice tea were a dream. Absolutely satisfying textures and flavor contrasts. No fluff, just straight flavor.

Food was ok. Roast meat plate was good. Duck was meaty and tender, but skin wasn’t crispy. Roast pork was crispy and tasty. Bbq pork was sweet and tasty. Oysters were good but they advertised two large oysters and we got 4 medium ones instead. I guess that’s still better than getting 2 medium ones Wonton noodle soup - the noodles were great. Soup was standard. Wontons needed work. There was no shrimp flavor and it just tasted like ground pork meatloaf. No free tap water here.

We had another great meal at Nam Kee on Zeedijk. The food is always excellent, and everything is served very quickly. Your order is ready in no time, and you can start enjoying it. The restaurant hasn't changed much for years, except for the white tiles on the walls that were replaced with acoustic panels, but otherwise it's still just as bare and lacking in ambiance. But the food is truly excellent, and that's what it's all about! 👌

The dacai bangzi was bitter and hard, the tofu was sour, the service attitude was poor, and the new rice bowl still had noodles and rice grains hanging in it. There was nothing satisfying about it. Avoid! !

Unfortunately, we were overall disappointed with our visit. We waited about 15 minutes in front of the door, but that wasn't a problem at all. Unfortunately, our appetizer was forgotten, but the main course arrived very quickly. The portions were rather small, and the goulash consisted of relatively large, very tough pieces. It also contained bits of cartilage and fat. The sweet and sour duck was of rather average snack quality. We can't recommend a visit and won't be returning.

I have to update my review, I recently tried it again with the 7 of them and ate it, but this cannot be compared to the old NamKee, I no longer like it and will therefore not eat here anymore.

Nam Kee is truly one of the best spots for Chinese food in the area. It’s always lively and busy, which speaks for the great taste and friendly service. The prices are fair, especially considering the generous portions they serve. I’ve been a loyal customer for over seven years, and the quality and flavors have remained consistently excellent. The food was tasty. Fried rice was a bit bland, but adding soy sauce and chili made it more Asian-style. Soup and meat were good. Milk tea was average. Service was a bit slow due to the crowd, but overall it’s worth the experience
