Grand Café De Dominee in Wijk 01 Binnenstad

A very attractive café/restaurant with a stylish interior and a lovely covered terrace in the heart of beautiful Oldenzaal. A great selection of drinks and food, as well as coffee and cake. The service is very friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

I received a super tasty vegan meal. The chef came over to discuss what I liked. What I got exceeded my expectations: 2 stuffed portobellos, a salad with walnuts, cashews, avocado, mango, and apple, among other things, and a side of fries. It's a shame they don't offer this dish on the menu as standard.

Nice, down-to-earth service that brings a positive atmosphere to the table. The food turnaround time is excellent and the food itself is also very good. You certainly get value for money for the price they charge here. You only pay €15 for the Club Sandwich and it is huge!

Cozy location by the market with a large terrace. Inside, there are plenty of diverse seating options: high, low, and benches. The menu is great, with vegetarian and vegan options as well. Excellent service.

Ate here before the theater. Prompt and friendly service. Unfortunately, one of the dishes was not warm enough. That was resolved quickly, though.

The schnitzels were tasty, but it took a long time before we got the beer the first time. The second time was a bit faster, and the third time was even faster. The waitress also started throwing pepper shakers around and refused to play my song on the speaker. I also had a bad conversation with my girlfriend, but otherwise, it was a fine place.

January 24, 2026, I visited the website online, and the reviews were very good. I immediately called and made an appointment; the dog is allowed inside. We only had a high table, which was fantastic. We both ordered fried salmon... served quickly, and we were both surprised by the fried salmon. In a word, "fantastic." Then I had a caramel latte with whipped cream, "AMAZING." We go to Restaurant De Dominee often. Thank you.

We had a great evening and a delicious meal. The service was friendly and good. There were seven of us. We made a late reservation and still got a nice table at the back of the restaurant, even though it was full. It was also nice that we weren't interrupted every 10 minutes, asking for "Would you like another drink?" It was pleasant.

From the outside, you can't tell if they're open or how full the restaurant is. It's quite dark, but it does have some ambiance, but still. Lunch was fine.

Had a wonderful dinner with the family at Grand Cafe De Dominee. This restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. They accidentally forgot a (small) round of drinks, but this was resolved very promptly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Friendly service, but the food is truly mediocre. Curry with no flavor, just coconut milk. And who serves fries with a curry and rice? You're not thinking from the perspective of the customer and passion for food, but purely from the perspective of standardization: every customer gets a salad and fries. Sigh...

Sandwiches and toasted sandwiches generously filled and of good proportions. Excellent quality price ratio. Service very friendly and professional. A must if you are near Oldenzaal.

The food was delicious. We enjoyed a delicious satay and pork belly. The side dishes, salad and fries were also very tasty. The decor of the restaurant was very modern and very cozy. The staff was a little less pleasant and a bit out of touch. This is a shame for such a beautiful business. Nevertheless, a good meal.

Tasty sandwich, good ham and real cheese, with even some lettuce and dressing on the plate. And, for the enthusiast, a bowl of curry for the sandwich. For only €4.20! Many 'Grand Cafés' in the west of the country can follow an example... And pleasant, polite staff in a nice location

First time, restaurant in a beautiful place, great place to eat, meet friends, cozy environment, very busy, hard to find a place to sit, I think you should make a reservation, service is cool, polite, caring, I ate schnitzel, it's great, Mosterdsoep soup is very tasty 🙂

Very nice Grand Café with good service and we had a delicious meal here.

A cool, atmospheric place in the very center of Oldenzaal. We were here for the first time and we liked it very much. The interior design and atmospheric lighting as well as fast and friendly service are a big plus of this place. The food was delicious too. And beer lovers will certainly be pleased with the large selection. We would love to come back here on our next visit to Oldenzaal to try more dishes.

Food fine, service very mediocre. The staff looks around a lot or talks to acquaintances, while I have been sitting outside at a table for more than 15 minutes and have still not been helped. And no, this is not because they were too busy, because then I would understand. At some point I asked if I could get another cappuccino and said that I also wanted to pay immediately. The cappuccino was delivered promptly and the service immediately moved on to another job. More than 25 minutes have passed and no one has come to me yet to bring the bill. Shame.

Ate dinner salad and snitsel. Cutting was perfect. Recommended. Meal salad mediocre/poor. Looked more like a shaken head of lettuce in water!! Complained about this and would pass it on. When paying, we were asked by the same lady we had complained to whether everything had been okay. So nothing passed on!! So there is still a lot to win!!

This eatery is located right on the Markt. Smoking is allowed on the terrace. For non-smokers, like us, it was difficult to find a table without the nuisance of cigarette smoke. The service was quite fast for a drink. Recording a dish took a little longer. The dishes looked tasty and the taste was excellent.

Well, just great. We visited this grand café twice during our holiday in Bad Bentheim. We sat inside both times. What stood out is that all tables are reserved. Fortunately we had done this too. And it is not surprising that it is full. The decor is really nice and cozy. The service is friendly and smooth. And the food, phenomenal. We went for the carpaccio and satay, also the second time. Both so delicious. And that satay is so tender and well cooked. Fantastic. Personally, and this is not a complaint, I would flavor the satay sauce more (think of the Surinamese variant) and keep it a bit thicker in structure. The current trial has some neighborhood flavor. But tastes differ. Luckily I don't live nearby, otherwise I would have been there many times a month. It was a culinary party.

Some time for a 12-hour break at De Dominee in Oldenzaal. Full terrace with many customers... that appeals. Service friendly and personable. The choice was quickly made and lunch was served promptly. Nothing to complain about, next time again 😁

We had a wonderful experience in Ootmarsum after viewing the many artists in the cozy streets. There was a Monday market and the pastor had a brasserie opposite. The cappuccino with apple pie went well and the next day we also had hot chocolate with whipped cream. It was great in this cozy place next to the Devil and the Engel. We will return here in late August when there is an art market.

Excellent restaurant - very high quality of food

Mooi restaurant, 1e keer bezoek, veel goede verhalen gehoord. Na het toegewezen plekje duurde het 15min todat er iemand kwam om het drinken op te nemen. Deze hadden we vrij snel. Toen duurde het weer ruim 15min voordat we een menukaart kregen. Gelukkig werd de bestelling (voorgerecht en hoofdgerecht) snel opgenomen. Het voorgerecht liet even op zich wachten. Het was druk in de zaak. Begrijpelijk. Het voorgerecht was lekker. En toen begon het wachten. Anderhalf uur wachten, inmiddels tafels voor en achter ons met maaltijden maar wij niet. Toch maar even vragen. Oh foutje in de keuken? Het komt er zo spoedig aan. Een aangeboden drankje was netjes geweest voor deze fout maar helaas. Gelukkig kwam het hoofdgerecht binnen 20min als nog. Het was lekker, niet bijzonder. Geen toetje want we zaten er al een paar uur en moesten door. Helaas wij komen niet terug.
