Grand Café "Place Du Nord" in Centrum

Very disappointing experience at Grand Café Place du Nord – rude owner During my visit to Grand Café Place du Nord in Eindhoven, I was unpleasantly surprised by the restroom policy. They charge a whopping €1 for using the restroom if you pay cash, and €1.60 if you pay by card. When I calmly and politely expressed my opinion that this was a bit steep, the owner became extremely unfriendly. Instead of a normal conversation, I received an angry response and was ordered to leave the restaurant. This way of treating customers is unacceptable to me. You go somewhere not to be treated like a nuisance. The owner seems unwilling to listen to feedback and immediately becomes defensive – in a way that you, as a customer, absolutely do not appreciate. If you expect to be treated kindly, I recommend visiting another café in Eindhoven. Unfortunately, you will feel anything but welcome here.

Delicious food. The chicken satay and salad dressing were a perfect match. The service was excellent and friendly.

To be honest, I'm only giving this restaurant one star to comment on it. It looked normal at first glance...when I ordered our lunch today, I noticed the egg smelled sour, and I have a very strong nose, plus I'm someone who's picky, especially with food. The bread was very dry, and when I looked at what was on my sandwich...one egg, two very large pieces of lettuce, and a sauce that wasn't on the menu and which I didn't like. We asked for the bill and suddenly the chef came to our table. The chef/owner wanted to prove that his eggs were fresh...very strangely, he returned later with an egg peeled and cut in half and told me to smell it because it was fresh. Very strange. Not to mention, a fresh mint tea with honey...if I'd known I was getting a tube of honey, I would have gone to the store myself. Our big mistake...we paid to avoid further hassle after reading the reviews, and we left everything. We'll never be back. Save your money and find another place. Oh yeah, and you have to pay to use the restroom, and if you're interested in a lamp, you can get one there too. Drinks are good...food, no, not recommended. This restaurant has room for improvement, everything you can name. P.S.: Here's a photo.

The food here was truly awful, and the place was absolutely filthy. We were given a tissue to cover our noses as a napkin for our cutlery. The waitress was friendly but very forgetful and kept asking the same questions, like, "Don't you write that down?" The salt and pepper shakers were very dirty; there was even a bit of yellow in the salt. I think this is a strange restaurant, and I felt completely uneasy. I'll never go back.

Ate at the restaurant today. What a terrible experience. Apparently, if you order the pasta with steak cubes, you have to specify that you want your steak without fat. Otherwise, you get steak with rind and a whole argument with the owner. The menu doesn't mention that you have to specify that you want steak without rind. Never experienced that with steak before. The owner gets into a whole argument, and we received absolutely no leniency. He should take a customer service course; he's a nasty man.

I regret not being able to give 0 stars!!! Two words for this place!!! TERRIBLE AND TERRIBLE!!!

Strange tent with strange people arguing

No star deserves this unfriendly affair. The place smells really bad, the service is unprofessional and the owner is downright rude. Hawaii sandwich was cold and the cheese not melted the soup was horrible and slimy. Then you order a salad and you get carpaccio with a little salad. If you indicate that this is not what was ordered, you will receive a foul mouth and you will still have to pay for the carpaccio that you did not order. Not customer friendly at all Definitely not recommended Please walk a few meters and pass this.

reasonable at first glance, but after we ordered and looked around, we saw that it was very dirty, cutlery was dirty, that can happen, but when we were served the food, there was a bowl with mustard and mayonnaise in it. just dirty on the mayo, there were dried lumps on the fries, black speckles and you could taste that it had been fried in old fat, no, this place is not recommended. "Owner" was approached about it, but he did not respond. Rob Geus is not happy about it.

Well where do I start, we came in, the gentleman said we had to sit by the heater, because it was stone cold outside. But the heater was off unfortunately 🥶. Ordered food and drinks then the glass of dirty cutlery started getting dirty. Granddaughter fell slightly on the floor oh no, I thought that was gross 😱. Food comes egg shell on the tomato, lumps in mayonnaise water on the mustard. Nice old crumbs of frying fat on the fries 🤢 not normal. I contacted the owner as an inspection service of value came that he came to wet his chest. He didn't say anything, he was speechless when he has them. Bah, with one word GOOR, you will never see us again here.

Ordered goulash soup .., no goulash could be tasted .. immediately reported, only to be told that it was and. His specialty was, well, he was inedible.. you don't want anything other than nothing from a reaction.. so you will never see me here again!!! What bad service and bad food.

I had passed by this restaurant several times, but did not go inside, but today I was really hungry so that was a chance to visit. I liked the pleasant and minimalist atmosphere of the restaurant. I decided to try a 3 course lunch. For the first course I ordered goulash soup. The soup was actually hot, very tasty and moderately spicy that I enjoyed. After the soup I was served schnitzel with cream sauce with pepper. And so I was disappointed in it. Not only was the sauce not tasty, but it also contained a lot of unground pepper (peas) and the lemon juice interrupted the entire flavor of the meat. If we are talking about schnitzel with cream sauce, I would rather buy it at a chip shop.

Not recommended but not as bad as previous reviews. Bouncer and omelette were good but service around it was lousy. Friendly, not enough staff.

A great spot to have a fast and delicious lunch. We’ve ordered a lobster soup and it was 10 out of 10!

Hans the owners recipe for tomato soup was exceptional. Best ive ever had no exaggeration. His homemade nougat is very well known locally a must try for nougat lovers.

Lekkere lokale pintjes, vriendelijke barman, gezellige sfeer, ... Een ideale pitstop voor een citytrip! Wat wil je nog meer?

Goed koud bier. Barman koelt zelfs het glas van te voren met ijs. Alleen jammer dat de straat er naast ligt. Een beetje meer groen zou het zoveel mooier maken. Zeker in combinatie met de graffiti

Goed en (te) veel eten. Vriendelijkste bediening ooit. Onze complimenten.

Kan hier rustig eten buiten en binnen komen we regelmatig

Heerlijk op het terras gegeten. Eten was vers en goed klaargemaakt. Er werd rekening gehouden met mijn wensen. Heel vriendelijke mensen, goede bediening, goede service. Tot de volgende keer lieve mensen!!!

Net met vrienden hier heerlik gegeten. We hadden een mixed grillschotel en een mixed visschotel. Deze waren super goed klaargemaakt. Heerlijk mals vlees en de vis was ook heel goed. Vriendelijk personeel, houden rekening met je wensen.

zeer gezellig ben zelf een persoon die niet alles mag maar er werd rekening me gehouden een aan gepast zeer viendelijk ont vangen zelfs de kok kwam om te vragen wat ik allemaal mocht super bedieninging

Fijn plekje waar je rustig kunt genieten van heerlijke gerechten. Ook al zijn ze nog net niet open...kom binnen, we zijn er zo. Dat is gastvrijheid van de bovenste plank.

Prima gegeten met 8 personen. Leuke spontane bediening . Bij de diverse bieren worden de originele glazen geserveerd . Is een herhaling dubbel waard .

Wat drinken kun je hier wel. Maar eten is niet in verhouding met prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Het duurt heel lang voor het eten er is. Bestel je kip saté met kroepoek krijg je 4 stukjes kroepoek. Wel zelfgemaakte kroepoek maar wel heel erg vet
