Had dinner with 9 people during a midweek get-together with friends at De Riethorst. Friendly staff, excellent meals, fish, meat, dessert. Earlier this week we had lunch with 9 people, which was also excellent.

We had a wonderfully catered BBQ! It was perfectly organized.

I often have good experiences. Last night I ordered a veal ribeye, which was very tough and we had to wait over an hour. They offered a new one, saying it would take 15-20 minutes, but I declined. After 20 minutes, a new one arrived, and it was again very tough. Strangely, after the initial notification, we didn't see any staff to order anything. This time, it was very disappointing.

Had a delicious veal ribeye. So tender, perfect. The portion of fries was a bit small for two people. The dessert was also fantastic. See photo.

Great location. Reasonably priced for what you get, but that seems pretty normal these days. Beer glasses have also shrunk to 25cc. The service was very friendly, fast, and excellent.

We were able to make a reservation on Sunday afternoon for that same evening. Does that sound promising? The food was inconsistent. The fish was fine, the meat was dry. Service was initially quick, but once the food was finished, it took a long time for them to ask if you wanted dessert. We had to wait over 20 minutes. The restrooms were very dirty. Yes, they were heavily used at the end of the day, so I thought I'd implement cleaning in between.

It was very cozy sitting as always. Friendly staff and everything well organized. Spacious terrace and also inside many seats.

I hadn't been there in several years. But the staff's politeness immediately brought me back to my old self. Delicious food and great hospitality.

Het eten is goed, de bediening is waardeloos. Omdat er telkens vrienden aanschoven hebben we een stoel erbij gezet en werden twee tafels uiteindelijk een. In een goed restaurant wordt gevraagd of het naar wens is en of deze (goed betalende klanten) hulp nodig hebben, nee bij de malle jan plasmolen wordt er vies gekeken en krijg je ineens heel langzaam je bestellingen, en later ook drankjes. Achteraf wordt bij een rekening van 300euro gevraagd of je de stoelen weer terug wilt zetten naar de oorspronkelijke positie, lachwekkend natuurlijk, als horeca personeel zich druk maakt om verplaatste stoelen (bij ruim voldoende lege stoelen). Het terug zetten doen wij graag als klant, alleen het feit dat wij hierdoor vervelend behandeld worden is voor ons een reden om hier NOOIT meer heen te gaan, kinderlijke bediening, een meisje van tegen de 20 met dreadlocks wat volwassenen de les probeert te lezen... ballentent!

Had a lovely meal at Mallejan last night. Booked in advance. The food was great (also warm!) All nice, smooth young people in the service. Cosy atmosphere. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely come back.

Excellent reception and accessible service, wide choice of drinks and menu/dishes. Very tasty food, soup as a starter: tasty, main course; more than enough with lots of scampi'S. No dessert.

Great food. The chicken piri piri was a bit disappointing. This was a whole piece of fried chicken with a not very special sauce served separately. Not what you expect when you read the description.

A glass was served with a delicious cappuccino. With alcohol. It would be nice if it was mentioned that it contains alcohol.

Today we thought we would end the holiday as a family with a nice dinner. We live in Middelaar and Malle Jan is usually a nice restaurant that we often visit. Today we decided to have a nice meal there. Upon arrival (4:30 PM) we ordered a drink, after which we asked for the menu. This was not possible because the kitchen would not open until 5:00 PM, not a problem at all, but when another family takes a seat next to us 5 minutes later, suddenly everything is possible and we receive the menu with the accompanying explanation. Very disappointing! Apparently a distinction is made between customers, after which we went to eat pancakes with our 4-year-old daughter across the street at Den Tol, where excellent service is provided. The woman where we paid knew about it but was not asked anything more, we were able to pay and flat out said: fuck off, you could have also started a conversation, worthless service! For us this was the last time at “maalle pietje”

No, this isn't it for me. I never write bad reviews, but unfortunately I do now. Food is substandard. Spontaneously got stomach cramps after eating a Carpaccio... the carpaccio was very minimal. I wasn't too happy with the 2nd course either. Starter was forgotten by another guest. We asked for 2x pork tenderloin and we got steak. We ordered water once, we literally got water from the tap. (we had assumed spa blue) no, not my case for dinner, maybe more for lunch???

Too bad they hadn't set up all the tables outside, the weather was nice and busy. We had to have a cup of coffee inside

Boxing Day 2024 had a fantastic à la carte meal with 10 people. With lovely staff and a very pleasant atmosphere! The ten of us enjoyed it, thank you!!!!!!

Cozy atmosphere with attentive staff and good cuisine

OK restaurant. Redelijke bediening. Eten is prima klaargemaakt. Geen bijzondere kaart. De bekende restaurant gerechten; niet erg verrassend. Erg druk, dus reserveren is verstandig. Let op: als het mooi weer is en het terras open, proberen ze reserveringen binnen te plaatsen zodat het terras beschikbaar blijft.

Wij hadden een tafel gereserveerd en dan verwacht je toch binnen te kunnen zitten. Daar was geen plaats zeiden ze en moesten buiten plaats nemen. Zit je tussen de rokers, niet echt fijn terwijl er binnen genoeg plaats was. Eten viel ook tegen, een had scholfilet maar dat was erg veel paneermeel. Ik had een jägerschnitzel, tenminste had ik besteld. Kreeg een gewone schnitzel met een heel klein bakje saus. Wat opviel was dat de porties van een menu beduidend kleiner zijn als de zelfde die je van de kaart besteld.

Food is tasty, just a pity that you are sitting in someone else's smoke.

Unfortunately, I couldn't order anything plant-based at all. There was nothing on the menu that was vegan, but even when asked, there was a lot of laughter in the kitchen (a leaf of lettuce!) and no consideration was given. Unfortunately I had to go home with an empty stomach. 1 or 2 vegan options on the (more extensive) lunch menu would be great for the company.

Always something to do. You can sit at the bar, or outside terrace or inside (make a reservation, it can be busy). Table for 2, 4 or group. There are two menus. For lunch during the day until 5:00 PM and a dinner menu (more extensive) for after 5:00 PM

You can enjoy delicious food there.

Good food, good staff and correct atmosphere

Kogelbiefstuk was niet goed bereid. Nadat deze mee terug was genomen werd de nieuwe, nu wel goed bereid, nadat de overigen hun hoofdgerecht al op hadden geleverd. Toen ik bij het afrekeneneen een opmerking hierover maakte werd dit afgedaan met '... het is druk.. '

Enjoyed lunch here. Nice spacious terrace, there was plenty of room. Friendly service, we were helped neatly and quickly. And the food was on the table in no time. A ham cheese panini for the wife and a midday snack for me. Both delicious. Visited again this time for dinner. All of the above still applies and more. The food was delicious, the wife had a shrimp salad beforehand and I had a spinach soup with smoked salmon, both finger-licking good. Then enjoyed the Angus burger and it was a delicious burger. We rolled outside satisfied. Recommended! Reservations on busier days are a plus.

Cozy restaurant, not too expensive, good food

We regularly visit the Marina and have used this restaurant many times. It never fails to impress. Excellent quality food both during the day and in the evening. Friendly staff who help us poor English people with the translations - all with a smile when we try our Dutch. Cannot recommend this highly enough. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed.

Na een frisse wandeling heerlijk op gewarmt bij deze locatie met een warme chocomel.. zeer attente en vriendelijke bediening. (Tafel aan het raam kwam beschikbaar toen we aan kwamen en alles werd direct opgeruimd en schoon gemaakt.. Meteen maar blijven zitten voor een lunch. Heerlijke broodjes gegeten..

Very attractive restaurant, service was very friendly. Perhaps a little too much control, which sometimes made it seem a bit clumsy. As a starter, a tomato soup that was very bland. Not a vegetable or a meatball, not even cream or parsley leaf. The pork medallion was also not that tasty, it was very dry.

Food was fine. Unfortunately we were bothered by the smell of other guests. At some point they moved to another table.

After having a stroll around the heathers, we had lunch there. The food was good (pulled pork sandwiches and chicken wraps), the service was excellent. The girls were friendly and fast. The location is nice with free parking right in front it. We will come back again for sure.

We actually wanted to have lunch there, but it took a very long time before the staff came to take our order, so we only had a drink. Unfortunately. Maybe we'll give it another try this week

The penultimate time my sister had a glass of wine poured over her. An apology was the only thing or a make-up would have been appropriate. With today's visit, there were some mussels with a layer of fuel oil or something like that 🤮 Apart from the fact that the dish was not calculated, a saving grace was once again not offered here. When asked, the chef stated that this can happen with mussels. However, I haven't experienced it in any restaurant yet. The appetite with my mussels was also over immediately. We have decided that we will never go there again with the whole family. Shame.
