This was my favorite meal we had in Amsterdam! If you are a sweets person, you MUsT get the summer berry pancakes!! Everything was incredible and great service too.

The food was reasonably priced and decent, but the romantic brunch overlooking the Singel Canal and the friendly staff made for a great start to the day. The Benedict, pancakes, and coffee were delicious :)

Greenwoods menu is well considered, offering something for everyone. What you can be sure of is the quality of any dish you order will be at a high level. I can’t say that very often at all. Consistency is a superpower here, with everything I tried being outstanding. The chicken burger was my personal highlight amidst an entire reel of excellence. It was succulent, flavoursome, and relied upon balance in a way you don’t find for a cafe staple normally. It was one of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. Massive statement, but completely verifiable; just come give it a try. The lava cake was decadent and rich, the pancakes made my heart sing. I’ll stop now because I could otherwise go on forever. Great venue. Great service. Utterly outstanding food. Nice work, Greenwoods. You made a fan out of this Aussie traveller.

On my way to the Rijksmuseum, I wanted to grab some breakfast and came across Greenwoods Singel on Google Maps – the good reviews were a reason to visit – and my penchant for English breakfasts was the deciding factor. The café is relatively inconspicuously located on a canal and was quite busy at the time of my visit – I had to wait a few minutes. The line after me did get a bit longer, but never so long that I had to wait too long. Most guests were seated very quickly, and the waitress's estimates were always quite accurate. I had already decided on the full English breakfast, with poached eggs and toasted white bread. It arrived after a very short wait, was delicious, and very filling. I was really impressed with this café and would gladly return next time I'm in the area!

Greenwood’s Singel is an Amsterdam breakfast classic—always vibrant, with kind, efficient staff who make you feel at home. The Full English is phenomenal and worth every cent, especially the poached eggs and dreamy hash browns. Fresh juices and inventive lattes round out a standout menu. Still my top pick after all these years—don’t miss it if you’re in town!

Tried a few full English breakfast in Amsterdam and this one is unbelievable really tasty sausage bacon mushrooms eggs all cooked to perfection can highly recommend thank you for a great start to the day

As usual top notch food this is my regular when I’m in Amsterdam. As usual there was a line outside waiting to get in, people don’t expect to get in here for at least 30mins. We waited in the cold for 45mins just to be seated outside which was annoying also my friends wasn’t happy, but I told them just wait till you eat it and when they did, all was forgiven lol. I used to come in the past and the food was better. This time the food was lacking flavour, it missed a touch of love. And it's not cheap. We had a vegetarian set and shakshuka. I can say that all the ingredients on the plate of the vegetarian menu were missing some flavouring, some spice, some herbs, I kept adding salt and pepper and still not enough. I wonder where they buy those ingredients.

This was by far my best dining experience when visiting Amsterdam. This cafe is perfectly located alongside the canal. It was very clean inside with a beautiful vintage interior. When I arrived at midday it was packed, however this did not stop a staff member finding me a a cosy and comfortable place to sit. The service was impeccable and genuine with warm hearted and down to earth staff. The food was fresh and delicious. When I finished my lunch I requested a coffee to go and when I received said coffee and the bill, I saw they had not added it to the bill and that a cute message had been written on the lid. For an amazing filling lunch and beautiful coffee I spent €25. When I return to Amsterdam in the future I will definitely be returning!(more than once)

The shakshouka was okay but i absolutely hate the egg benedict, it's too buttery and feels nothing like an egg benedict. The service is a bit slow there is only two nice waitresses and the place is packed

What a beautiful evening! We were lucky to get a table outside on the terrace. The setting sun, warm breeze, and soft music created the perfect vibe. I had the seafood linguine and my partner chose the grilled chicken with lemon sauce. Both dishes were fresh and packed with flavor. We even got a complimentary glass of wine. It was such a nice touch.

Quite touristy place, serving pretty heavy savoury dishes, but a nice place never the less! The restaurant is small, with a small terrace but the service is fast and friendly! They have a few choices in Eggs Benedict, sandwiches and other dishes and I tried the Amsterdam style one, which was very nice! They also do a high tea but you’ll need to reserve that in advance.

The food was too good to leave it for a second to take a photo! The pulled chicken brioche is unreal, very tasty! All of us loved our dishes.. Thank you for such a good meal! Made my day!

was looking for breakfast/brunchy places and this place was recommended on google. had to queue for about 5 minutes as the tables weren't cleared. we sat outside on the canal as it was an amazing day. the road can get a little busy with cars. however you just have to ignore and enjoy the little restaurant and atmosphere. i would have usually gone for the full English breakfast but i decided to have the breakfast quesadilla as i saw another customer order it and added mushrooms and hash brown and a tea, missus had the shakshuka with iced matcha with coconut. drinks came out however milk was missing with my tea, the food had arrived and i had to chase the hostess twice and waited a long time before we got any attention. it got a little busier during the time we was there and the tables weren't being cleared and also food delivered to the wrong tables. the food was decent and had loads of flavours, the experience started off nice however once the food was eaten, the service wasn't the same as the initial "hi" we received.

so overrated and they gave it a lot above its level We waited 30 minutes and queued for 30 mins The shakshoka was so bad 1/5 (point because I liked the cheese) The shakshoka wasn't good 1/5 point because the cheese was good The pancakes were 4/5 The eggs were good 4/5 The matcha wasn't good but honestly she told me if I wanted to fix it just tell me and I didn't 🤣 The matcha wasn't all that but tbh she did tell me she could fix it but I was to lazy to do so 🤣 Hot chocolate 4/5 Orange juice 4/5 Price was way over average and way too expensive to be honest The staff were nice I would come back but never for the shakshoka 🤣

Top place great english breckfast

On the advice of the hotel we ended up here for breakfast but we ended up going somewhere else because there was a long queue outside in the rain. At 15:15 we came back looking for a cup of coffee and a snack. We had espresso and fresh ginger tea and were tempted by the menu options 🤣 I chose the scone and it was delicious. Warm, fresh, airy and the clothed cream was also super tasty. My love chose the pancakes and is also very happy with it! Friendly service and cheerful cozy interior. We will be back for more ❤️

The food wasn’t bad, but honestly, it’s nothing special – and definitely on the overpriced side. If you don’t get there early, expect long queues. While it’s a decent spot, you can definitely find better and more affordable places in Amsterdam.

Absolutely ! This restaurant is a real gem! Upon arrival, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, a very pleasant place where you immediately feel good. And what about the dishes? A true festival of flavors, super good and prepared with obvious care. The presentation is also a feast for the eyes, each plate is a work of art. Honestly, I recommend this restaurant 100%! This is an experience not to be missed.

We sat at the table with the aim of having a gluten free brunch since there is an option on the menu. Unfortunately they told us that they cannot serve us anything because it is possible to have contamination. I believe it is incorrect to put the gluten-free option on the menu to attract customers if a celiac cannot eat it.

Lovely little find in Amsterdam, if you are looking for breakfast in Amsterdam that cooks other food and not just pancakes! This is the place for you. Visited end of April 2025. . There is a good choice for Vegan/Vegetarian, and on offer is their home made bread beautifully cooked full English or eggs benedict/scrambled/fried. The place is small but for a canal street, it has a decent eating area outside. The coffee with milk has to be the best we found. Served in a delightful mug. You unfortunately unable to book. The cafe has friendly waiting staff. I would recommend.

We came early on a Sunday and are so glad we did! The quesadilla and the pancakes were delicious, and the coffee was solid, too. There was already a line for tables by around 10am, so we felt lucky we arrived close to 9 and were able to be seated outside right away. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

I’ve been coming to this little spot for years. Love it in here. It’s small cute and intimate. Always super busy but not a long wait for a table. I got the special which was incredible! Can’t wait to come back on my next trip.

Beautiful location, we were on recommendation and for my part I was slightly disappointed with the cuisine (too salty, some foods inedible) the service and very average (not smiling, impatient and in a hurry to let us leave) despite a bill of 140€ including a dish not ordered but which we kept despite the waitress's error.

Food is good. People working there are very lovely. On the other hand it is very small and in the weekends for a breakfast you have to wait in the line for quite a time. When you go inside you sit very much close to other customers. Whenever you finish your food you are expected to leave asap to give your place to the others waiting outside. It is not a place that you can have a relax weekend breakfast.

I have to start by saying the service was so great here. They were churning out tables while being so warm and lovely the whole time. On top of this the food! WOW! I had the chefs spicy eggs I think it’s called, added bacon and WOW! Perfectly cooked eggs, great seasoning, and they accommodate gluten free. They serve shär bread for an extra charge and I think that is great. We had a wonderful meal here. You can’t get the full English gluten free, but boy it looks smashing!

The full English breakfast was amazing. The chef's spicy eggs and the veggie breakfast were both a bit bland and I was glad salt was on the table. Purple zing is a must try if you like juices. Over all I would recommend going here for the more than amazing and kind staff. I will come back when I get to Amsterdam early again.

Great little restaurant in the Centrum area. Very friendly and hard working staff, and food was excellent. My wife got the Dutchman (farmers) breakfast, and I got their brioche special with poached eggs, pulled chicken, asparagus, on top of brioche bread. Topped with a siracha hollandaise sauce. Both were delicious. Highly recommend!!
